Nottachtrix. Its amazing, great battery life, extremely smooth and stable. Comes with 4 themes and multiple different kernel options (stock, faux123 w/ varying degrees of overclock), all installable from the aroma installer. Definitely the best in my opinion.

Nottachtrix.

laytveyit ??

well for the custom needs i'd say nottachtrix.
the aroma installer gives you many ways to customize the rom

Strange, I never had this problem since I have Nottachtrix ROM....

Deafcyclist said:
yeah, it seem like a problem with the webtop partition itself rather than the rom as I am still having issues with laytveyit rebooting when I docked it. I am trying to reinstall the stock webtop (fixed 236-webtop.zip) but is having problem with it now.
Code:
system/build.prop
ro.product.name
==
olyatt
E:Error in /sdcard/fixed 236-webtop.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Trying to find solution to this and seeing if just changing the build.prop and ro.product.name will breaks anything.

Get the 236-webtop.zip, not the 'fixed'. It worked for me.

nottachtrix: nice rom, with the ICS theme plus Ubuntop, the best Atrix I ever had , just have a problem 600 mgs instead 1 gig of ram...applied ram fix to get 600 mgs
laytveyit: looks like a update modded rom, tried very fast, because I dont like the UI and the no account problem...went back to Notta.
Will go for CM7, but need to use lapdock a lot...so the only way I can use it is with a BLUR rom ., but what do you think of mirror the phone? and install Office ??? is a good option to go for?

I've gone for maxblur 5 over notcha as its still in current development so chance of fixes.
It is however supplied with a non customizable installer.

Okay, got nottachtrix installed alongside with the webtop and it is working well.
Next step is to figure out how to get nottachtrix to let me just mirror the android display rather than entering webtop every single times. I also need to figure out how to install chromium to webtop as i depends a lot on the google sync in the browser.
About the webtop thing, it seem like even if i select to mirror the display, the phone stubbornly boots into webtop as soon as i docks the phone into the lapdock.

As far as I know, what you're trying to get working won't work in whichever ROM you try, custom or otherwise. The phone is hardwired to boot webtop when it's docked, you can't select mirroring mode.
That said, there's the "misconnected" trick... You can plug the phone in such a way as that the HDMI connector is fully connected while the USB one isn't... This should get you access to mirroring... Ugly hack as it may be, lol.

Maybe you should read up on the subject. To my knowledge, there are many ROMs that do mirroring, semi-tablet mode and whatnot. None that does webtob though, except Moto's official, but that's not even the question here.

I do share the same issue with nottachtrix booting webtop when I click on mirror phone display... And I flashed and currently use ubuntop 1.10 and not the default 236 webtop nor the fixed one... The only solution I found to be acceptable is to make a dual-boot (actually, multi-boot as of now) setup atrix, with nottachtrix on internal sdcard and cm7 on external sdcard (plus cm9 plus nottachtrix on external sdcard in my current setup). I can switch ROM on the go WITHOUT CWM reflashing.
On one side, I can use webtop on my lapdock on nottachtrix. On the other side, I can boot back to cm7 to access that mirror phone display if I wanna play Android games or emulators on my lapdock (or HDTV, depending on my mood lol) with my sixaxis ps3 controller.

[Rom][Update4]Android Stock 2.3.3 From 2.4 sys dump+googles OTA GRI40 posted :)

Well heres some bad news...I was working on Version 5 of my rom. Completely bricked my Nexus one.... Tmobile gave me a decent upgrade/trade in so i got the New Galaxy S 4g... I will leave Versions 3 and 4 of my rom up for everyone to enjoy an further it to bigger an better things. I will no longer be able to support or answer any tech questions since i do not own a nexus one anymore. Its been fun
_______________________________________________________________
3/3 5:45am Finally Ive finished testing and making sure the GRI40 is running smooth an flawless, Sorry it took so long to test, but it seems i hit my data cap of 5gigs in less than 8 days so it was slow on testing HSDPA speeds but thats all worked out now on my friends t-mo sim card i hit 4.5MB/s
Rom features: A2sd set up on first boot. If you dont want it dont set a Ext3 partition
Rooted with SU+busybox, Davik-Cache on SD, Deoxed file system, Zipaligned for ram. Few other things i cant remember because i spent 12 hours tryin to figure out why my data was so slow before i realized they capped me. This version is without the TB alerts. V3.1 with trackball alerts will be posted up here very shortly since trackball alerts will not work with A2sd because it reads trigger files.

Use Hboot to flash radio image
V3.Trackball Alerts are here at last!!! i would like to thank the creator of Light flow for allowing me to cook in the lite version of his app, The light flow app is probably the best trackball alert ive ever seen, Allows you to set trackball color to the type of alert it is. i used this app all night on my first version of the GRI40 and loved it so much i had to email and ask if i could use it. so yes i got permission from him to cook his app in. all the features of the rom are same as V3 without. Managed to get A2sd working with trackball alert app after i had already cooked the first one up. so take your pic, you can have trackball alerts or just the regular GRI40 .. Also did a internal task killer mod on this V3.1 which in turn SHOULD free up more ram my processes status is showing 285MB of free ram so ENJOY, Feedback is always welcome, use Radio image above if you want.

I took down V4 due to many issues with it, started from scratch on this V4.1 build, added Spare parts, Terminal, and Adobe flash player. Removed Books Apk and Amazon Mp3. Fixed Camera issue that plagued V4 Should also be flashable from Clockwork Mod. IF not use Ra passion please to flash. Also took off Light flow TB alerts as stock google TB alerts seem to be working with this build.
Rooted, Busyboxed, Zipaligned, deoxed, and all the other flavors from my previous rom builds.

Gone back to school support an updates will slow down majorly, but please feel free to download mod, and make these roms better than i made um
quick q, how do u enable a2sd? just make a ext3 partition? or do i have to run some commands as well
thanks for doing this!
Was there a separate radio in the 2.4 dump, cuz I missed that fact?
Btw this rom is real quick. I'm loving it

I dont have such script, but you can take a look at this Build from Superatel, GB 2.3.3 with track ball wake working here (i'm running it-very smooth and stable). Perhaps you should ask him for Trackball wake solution
Anyway, thanks for your time building this job.
Just to let you know, flashed ver2 over ver1 with cache and dalvik-cache wipe and all is great!
Took a while to boot but a2sd all setup nicely now.
+1 for trackball wake
Anyone tried trackball alert ?
Many thanks
How is the battery life and USB transfer speed with this ROM?

Ext2 or ext3 is fine, ext4 is still unsupported on first boot, my phone automatically made a ext2 partition at 512Mb no swap an set it all up for me. so just try that first then if you want more, reflash it with a bigger partition set up

Sounds great Could you please paste the MD5 Hash next to the download links?
Edit: Didn't have the patience to wait for the MD5 Hash So downloaded and installed the ROM. Quick boot as said in the OP. Looks pretty good so far. Haven't tried it out extensively though. As of now, I found the USB transfer speed to be pretty decent. Not the best that I have experienced so far but definitely better than the other Gingerbread ROMs using the stock kernel. The Camera worked fine as well. Though I can not ascertain that it is 720p as I was not able to download the file to my PC. While accessing the Camera folder over USB, Windows7 says that the folder is either inaccessible or corrupted. Any idea why so? I was able to access the folder on my phone and the file played well. Will update more about the ROM as and how I use it. Thanks, buddy
Edit: One random reboot after restoring an application using Titanium Backup
Edit: I was able to access the Camera folder on my phone from my PC after restarting the phone once. Also the video is indeed 720p recorded at 12 fps.
I have tried quite a few Gingerbread ROMs out there and this one is just what I needed - plain vanilla stock ROM patched with the Apps2SD script.
Looking forward to the track ball awake and battery percentage. Will report regarding battery life after a few hours.
Edit: One more random reboot after unplugging the USB cable from the phone
Edit: One more reboot while copy data from phone to PC over USB
flashing this right now. Will report later tonight or tomorrow

Why doesn't anyone use CM7 for G-Tab?

Are the mods of CM7 preferred over straight CM7? Also, just to get HW accel, should one stick with Vegan 5.1?
Just ordered my G Tab from Amazon and wondering what ROM I should jump to.
Thanks for your time.
Each ROM has it's fans but I've been running VEGAn 5.1.1 since it was posted and for me and my needs from a tablet it's rock solid without a bunch of force closes or other issues like I've read other people report about other roms or tweaks (like using different kernels) they've made to them after they've flashed a flavor of rom.
I use my gTAB for games, reading books/magazines/comics, accessing my work computers, watching ripped videos, watching flash videos on sites like HULU (needs hacked Flash) or Fox Television (doesn't need hacked Flash). And I've had access to the Market with almost every app I've needed or wanted show up without any tweaks.
In the end it's really up to the user and what the user wants out of their tablet.
I moved to the Vegan GB ROM mainly because, for some reason, Flash kept malfunctioning on any of the 2.2 ROMs I used. I miss watching videos, but hopefully a GB driver is forthcoming.
On the 2.2 side, I preferred Calkulin's ROM (with pershoot's Froyo kernel) because it was fast, and I also thought it was more tablet-oriented.
My advice is, while your tab is still new and you don't have it as customized as you will in the future, flash every ROM available and take them for a test spin. I'd run Calkulin's Format All zip before every ROM install just to be safe.

Considering how easy it is to do, I second this. It's pretty much what I did before settling on VEGAn 5.11, although I think I may try VEGAn Ginger again.
I am running CM7 on the Gtab without any issues. I chose CM7 rom since I am familiar with it because I am using that on my DInc.
Yeah I was considering VEGAn Ginger too. Let's see how much free time I have this weekend.
I am running cm7 on mine....since all the other versions are based off cm7 anyway. Cyanogenmod does an update and pushes it out...I don't have to wait for the others to update their source base from cm and merge in their rom edits.

Vanilla AOSP Gingerbread:
if you don't mind configuring it alot. I've found it to be faster than any of the Tnts and Vegans. It's supposed to be as close to Google's code as possible. I've also found it to have the most complete market out of all the other roms!

I use CM7 with Pershoot's kernel and VTL Launcher. I've found it quite nice since they integrated in the tablet tweaks. I don't watch videos on it, though, so I haven't had to worry about hardware acceleration. Though, apparently, the last stable release and nightly gives some NVidia tuning, though not full hardware acceleration like Froyo, from what I gather.

You can get the hacked libflashplayer.so file for flash 10.2 here. You need to install the standard flash 10.2 first, though. It's available on the market, but you can also get it here if it doesn't show up in the market for you. I've been running it on CM 7.0.2 and it works great; just make sure to set your browser to desktop (in stock browser, Menu>Settings>Select User Agent; I set mine to linux desktop) and configure the run at boot file transfer script (instructions are in the post).

Download the attached zip to mount the internal SD card as /sdcard instead of /emmc if you wish.

mHDMI problems >:/

it happened before but went away but now every time i connect the hdmi cable it keep disconnecting a and connecting it gets stuck on that loop and doesnt let me pick anything. the cable is practically how can i fix this or rule it to the cable?
m on wet dream 1.4.4 and when i dock my phone to the lapdock it lets me pick through the dock menu. but another thing..
ive never got to use mirror mode i try at the dock but when i open the lid it automatically switches to webtop mode, same thing use to happen every time when i tried on the tv a couple of days ago. i can enter hd multimedia entertainment and use clock widget but mirror hdmi seems to not work at all.
my main frustration is not being able to connect the tv. will i have to order a new cable just to see if it is the problem or my phone is acting up?

[Q] Linux on Lapdock

What's the best way to get Linux ( preferably Ubuntu) on lapdock?
I would rather be able to stay on CM7 but if it is easier or better on
a blur based ROM, I wont mind switching over. Thanks in advance.
NottachTrix is still the best Blur ROM and as far as I know the only one that supports the Lapdock but maybe you can migrate the Webtop app with Webtop2SD on a CM7 ROM instead of using a Blur ROM.
First you need to backup your Webtop on your SD card with Webtop2SD, then you flash CM7 and finally you can restore the Webtop app with Webtop2SD. I'm not sure if it works like that but I'll try in 2-3 days when I receive my Webtop.
You can use one of the CM7 or CM9 that have HDMI mirroring, then install "Ubuntu Installer Free" from the Market.
Works quite well.

Haha that's the same ROM I was thinking of using too! After migrating it, would I be able to turn it into Ubuntu instead of the motorola webtop?
From what I have seen, with HDMI mirroring, resolution on the Lapdock is the same as that on the phone screen. When you are running Ubuntu, etc, it is also at that resolution. This happens because you are essentially running Linux as a VM on your phone, and then remoting into it. If any of this has changed since I last looked, please correct me.

Basically Ubuntu vs Debian.
That's true with the HDMI mirroing.
The resolution is the same as your phone, but you're VNCing into the ubuntu install anyway, so you're essentially just seeing that and not your phone.

Webtop = Program that makes a castrated Ubuntu run on your Atrix
So yes you can run Ubuntu on it, as you already do. But if you want the full Ubuntu experience on it, here it is !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000316&highlight=full+ubuntu
It actually adds the Synaptics Packet Manager that allows you to install/compile ARM compilable/compiled programs. It's a bit tricky but there should be no problem if you already have some experience with Linux.
Edit : Stock Webtop image : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169457
I decided to switch over to NottachTrix and use webtop2d in order to get Ubuntu. :]

Did you install something else, like fixed webtop 2.3.6? I've tried for almost an hour to no avail. I have rebooted the phone several times. Tried nottachtrix, max blur 5.0, and some other. I know the lapdock works because i tested with another atrix running froyo (2.2). I am desperate here and hope someone would shed some light... so frustrating :crying:

On another note...
When installing fixed webtop 2.3.6, would it be recommended to remove webtop included on (for example) nottachtrix or max blur 5.0 with Motorola Atrix Fastboot Tool?
I ask because when using the motofail's entertainment center, videos would only playback sound... *sigh*
OK, got ubuntop running (i guess). Installed VLC but video playback has heavy lag. Just a regular avi and mp4 file test. I moved the file to the internal sd on the phone and avi playback was better on entertainment center. Some smaller mp4 files recorded using the phone play sound only. I am starting to think that buying the Lapdock was a mistake... watching videos is what i do the most on my phone, so if anyone has more recommendations i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
