I am looking for a ROM that makes all the 512 MB RAM available in my SGS+. I think there are since I've seen one with 400 MB RAM available. I am still new to this forum, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post. Thanks in advance.

I don't think, it's possible to have all 512Mb in use for your purposes. 512Mb is a summary capacity of RAM chips of your phone and part of that amount of RAM reserved for kernel needs(services, drivers, etc). From my experience:400Mb of availible RAM good enough cpacity for devices with 512Mb. There are 512Mb devices with smaller amount of availible RAM.
Sorry for my bad English.

Hi Guys,
I recently looked under Memory in Settings and found it was showing only 448MB of Total RAM. AFAIK TMO USA HD2 has 576MB of usable RAM. Am i mistaken, or is it same for everyone.
I have the NRGZ 20th Dec Cookie 2.0 ROM flashed on my phone.

448MB is okay and normal.
448 user ram plus 128 graphics ram = 576 total ram
ok got it thanks guys
who told, that the missing 128 megs are dedicated to the gpu...? this seems to be a bit too much for me, especially if compared with the rest of the specs of the adreno unit...

128MB is use as graphics
Just wondering...how much RAM the original HD2 had? It had 448MB right?
So was it like 320+128?
yep, it's "public opinion" that these 128mb are reserved for graphics; but who wrote / said this, what's the source for this "fact"? can't find anything, neither here nor in www.
i'm asking this because i can't believe, that this amount is reserved for gpu only, as it seems way too oversized for a gpu with the capabilities of the adreno. in my humble opinion 64mb are too much, too...
Could it be a case of bloated specs by tmob?
go read the spec sheet for the snapdragon, particularly the graphics capabilities, the triangles per second and what not. that's why it needs the ram.
After the whole issue with Venue Pros have only 256MB instead of quoted 512MB, can we have a confirmation one way or another for the Venue?

Its 512MB.
It is 512MB
but 200MB or so are freely available I think.
Use Elixir, you will see the stock total is 402.1MB, and I get 150-180MB available as average.
yea!!!it is 512MB!!
venue ram
Full capacity all the 512MB.
But that is actually assigned capacity is 402MB,
Applications due to the use of the average level of available RAM is about 150 ~ 200MB.
I think the ROM is 1GB and RAM 512.
512mb yiup

What do you exactly mean by "assigned capacity"?
If I Check the RAM I in total have only 320 MBs... Is that normal? Even System Monitor only Shows 344... How much Do you have?

On my LG P500 (which also has 512MB RAM), when I go to Settings > Applications > Running Services, I can see on the graphic underneath my screen: RAM: 98MB used, 294 MB free (this adds up to 392MB).
Then again, it's got a different chipset so less RAM could be in use by the graphics chip (MSM7227 with Adreno200 here).

Is there any hacked kernel to "steal" RAM from system?
Thanks.
This same topic has been posted before in another thread. Plz do a search before creating a post. Dont create a post just for the sake of creating a post !!
JB ROMs are using 360 MB RAM. That is all we can get I think.
Why my XPS total of available ram just 63X mb?
where is the another 300 mb ram?
This is allocated by the system and will be released dynamically as needed. Don't mess with RAM management, you'll only make it worse.
Even the latest mobiles now use only 1GB RAM in spite of quadcore CPU's... and all of them somehow allocating certain RAM for internal mobile system... what I'm trying to say is, it is normal...

Read this sony developer blog
http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/...ical-differences-between-gingerbread-and-ics/
I purchased a Simdo D98T from Pandawill. While the phone isnt pretty and the touchscreen is not well calibrated, I was impressed with the antenna quality: best wifi and GPS I have seen in any phone.
The phone reports 1G of RAM, but the lowest I have seen free RAM has been around 639MB. Programs are closed as soon as you put them in foreground and Firefox even closed on me while working, while still reporting around 640MB of free RAM.
Can the manufacturer reportan incorrect amount of RAM and tweak the kernel to use only part of it?
>...
The RAM might have been used by system.. Actually 1GB RAM should be 800MB+ available for users.

Thats the issue: the kernel closes programs and available RAM never goes under 640MB.
