ok, as long as ur using them. lol
The people that tick me off are the price gougers .lol
I got 6 during the firesale: 5 $99/16GB on Amazon at 2am the night it was announced (paid full price then the Monday after the firesale weekend I called and Amazon reimbursed me the difference), and 1 [email protected] (was worried that the amazon 'idea' to pay full price and get refunded the difference wouldn't work.
1 for me, 1 for the wife, 1 in the event I bricked mine putting android on it, then 3 for friends who love them.
Got 5 more off of CL for ~150 ea. for 16GBs, for friends and family.

When do the Fire Sales start?

What will happen to the returns from dissatisfied customers?
Sold as "Open Box" Items?
Sold as "Used" Items?
Returned to ASUS to be resold as "Refurbished" Items?
Returned to ASUS to be destroyed so that the price for a Prime is not jeopardized?
It is going to be interesting, and I think that waiting a month or so might be economically the thing to do.
George
Look how much the original transformer still cost. I don't think it's going to be that drastic in a month.
This tablet is going to be the same price for a year or longer and there will never be a fire sale for this tablet the returned once wall get fixed up and sold again you will have to pay a the full price or check ebay to get one cheaper

With it still being launched, Asus would be insane to even put them back out as refurbs. Most likely they'll be refurbed and offered to Asus employees and perhaps friends and family at a discount. Any excess would just be stock piled and released much later in the year. The few bucks they'd pick up selling them now wouldn't be worth tanking the new retail price.
Prime/Asus is in no comparison to the failure of the touchpad. Transformer Primes are selling like hotcakes and still very hard to come by. much later down the road you might be able to find a refurbished one. plus it would piss off all people who paid regular price for it..lol. I would've rather waited also if that was gonna be the case b save me some money

That's exactly what they will do and when the tablet gets old they start selling their returned ones for lower prices like 350 but that won't happen for atleast a year. The
As a matter of fact I don't think the transformers are ever sold as open box items, or refurbished. I have never seen the originals as open box. They probably are required to be sent back to ASUS so there component parts can be reused in new assemblies.

i got my tf101 as an open box from newegg, $100 off. and then they screwed up in the inventory and sold me an open box 32gb instead of a 16gb, so i got a 32gb opebbox tf101 for $300.

it was a great deal, and i happened across is extremely randomly but i'm quite happy with my prime now, just waiting on the dock to be shipped from amazon and gamestop to get some replacements in for my light leak one.
but it's already so fast, i can't wait until ICS and then development gets going on this thing, it's going to be a BEAST.

I had one of those vouchers, along with the $200 Sharp 42" 1080p HDTV. But got screwed at the check out.
But oh well, I probably would have been disappointed if I had the TF101 now seeing that the next generation is far superior.

Nexus 10 USA vers in UK - OK to buy?

Hi all, I have the opportunity to buy a nexus 10 32gb for £300 its a refurb but says it comes with warranty.
However when looking into it, including calling samsung uk - they do not give warranty to the device in the uk but would if I sent it to the US (I'd prefer not to of course).
I haven't checked google, but it seems that they won't cover it either from their t&cs.
So in reality is it worth getting it for £300 or should I spent £20 more to get the 16GB version?
The GB isn't a big factor, but £300 for the 32gb is pretty good and they are pretty much open box returns - so brand new.
What do you guys think? Do these often have hardware issues which require returns?
even 32gb its not enough ...

I had the same dilemma when buying mine in the UK. I was told by Google support that the US warranty was only valid in the US and the only way it could be repaired under warranty if something went wrong was to ship it to a US address and then contact Google in the US!
Eventually I just bought the UK version. It's going to less problematic in the long run and easier to sell when the time comes.
Also, there's a fairly good chance that you'll have the pleasure of paying duty and Vat when the tablet arrives. This will add another 26% or so to the cost!

[Q] Kindle Fire HDX refurbs--how are they?

Friend of mine just got a Kindle Fire HDX 7" 64GB refurb as a warranty replacement. He offered to sell it to me.
I was going to give it to my wife, but I have a couple of questions:
When they refurb, do they replace the battery with a new one? How would the battery performance on a refurb compare to, say, a HDX that had been lightly used for several months?

refurbished devices are just devices made from broken devices.
new batteries, old hardware, in most cases.

Have a refab replacement tab. No major issues. It was also my 4th replacement and only one acceptable display quality (only hardly noticeable, but visible yellow tint on one edge). However qualittwise butter then first two "new" devices.
make sure

25% off Huawei Phones

Just in case anyone missed it and is looking for a new phone, Amazon is selling Huawei phones (including 6p) 25% off. Today's prime day so Im pretty sure the sale ends tonight.
I'm thinking of buying a 64gb 6P from Amazon for $403.75.
It looks like $403.75 is a good price.
Ebay sales for 64gb 6P are running around $450 to $500 and up, on Ebay.
Edit:
I broke down & bought the 6P 64gb.
I applied for an Amazon CC to get another $50 off. $377 delivered. Nice!

Good deal. You already purchased but they were also running 2 other promotions for amazon credit that I know of
1. Try Audible free for 3 months=$10 credit (cancel anytime)
2. Buy $50 amazon gift card =$10 credit
***Possible these expired and if not they will very soon
Apparently Google is offering a discount on the 6P with Fi now.
$399 for the 64GB and $499 for the 128GB.
https://fi.google.com/about/phones/#phone-prices
You have to pay for one month of Fi but that might be worth it if you want to buy directly from Google instead of from Huawei since I've heard some horror stories about Huawei customer service...
Yeah, definitely worth being able to get Nexus protect.

Prime Day was a one-day event on 7/12.
You can still purchase the 64GB 6P for $399 directly from Google via Fi though (you have to pay for one month of Fi service).
