i am one of those people here in japan waiting anxiously for someone to find a way to circumvent Softbank's network lock.
anybody else waiting for that magic moment may post their queries or opinion on this thread.
upgraded to the new rom
well, since i really don't need an unlocked phone for now, i figured why not using that microsd card softbank sent me and upgrade my phone anyway.
it is now network locked to softbank. i really don't mind coz i have no plans of using the phone in the philippines, and my other unlocked hermes is being enjoyed by my wife in the philippines.
im just waiting patiently for an unlocker, out of curiousity.
I contacted imei-check.co.uk over the weekend about sim/cid unlocking my T-mobile UK Ameo and this is the reply i got unfortunatly......
Hello,
unfortunately we don't have a solution for it ready. Right now we are not sure if we will develop one at all. Not even that we have to develop the solution we also have to add a lot of new protection to it to prevent thiefs from stealing our hard work like they did it in past.
Regards,
IMEI-CHECK Team
I think there is a simple script to change the CID but Mods in this forum dont want it to announce for that HTC will know this weakness point and then will change it in next updates or devices. or another reason to keep us under thier mercy for asking for cid unlocker for our devices....
check this post

so who knows the script??
hi all is there any hardware difference between ameo and u 1000.
coz i heard that theres a micro drive issue in the ameo
No, originally people had issues with some of the Microdrives in the U1000, but that has all been sorted now. I think it was software related, but there is no difference in hardware between the two devices.

it's a easy decision for you, if you only want the silver one, go for Ameo, since it's cheaper (on ebay maybe) or just sign up a contract with T-mobile, now some thing you will need to know, All three machine (HTC Advantage, T-mobile Ameo, DOPOD U1000) has Microdrive issue, it's to do with their ROM, you are more likely to find it on Advantage compare to DOPOD U1000 OR Ameo, Actually, DOPOD U1000 is even less likely to happen compare to Ameo due to it's recent ROM update.
If you are not T-mobile customer and will be using other sim card, then you need to consider the sum unlock issue, you can get it done by paying some money.
If you are new to PDA and don't know what CID lock is, and you would want to update your ROM frequently, then t-mobile might not be such a good chose, they don't provide that must support on upgrade and currently there are no promise on WM6 update too.
So really, you should ask yourself these question, are you going to use it with other sim card other then T-mobile (other country)? will you want to upgrade to latest ROM (wm6) without breaking the warranty?
Good luck with your decision, after all, you are about to purchase a wonderful device.
Thanks wu
i am going to use another sim and its unlocked and without warranty
i think pof or asukal or gurus like u might find out how 2 unlock cid
i will go for ameo then
thanks a lot buddy

only two ways to unlock, code from tmobile, or buy one from online.
I have the t-mobile htc ONE and i want to use it with ATT. Getting a hard time getting the unlock codes for free of course, but i planned on making it the dev edition anyways. was wondering turning it into a dev edition does that sim unlock it automatically? /flashing the dev edition RUU/ of course with s-off and supercid...

No it does not. TMo should provide a code if you've had the phone more than 45 days. You can always request it.
