Anyone else here experience a faster drain on the battery after going to WM6?
I noticed this the other day and quickly figured out that part of the problem is that I ticked the GPS option under Weather Panel. Once I turned that off I get longer life on the battery BUT, it's still not as good as when I was running WM5.
Anyone else notice this?

Interestingly, I got home yesterday after work and noticed that I still got 60% leftover. I did find out though that if I left the wifi on it drained a lot faster.

when ever someone does and upgrade there is a bttery problem let the battery drain to 20% and then recharge it then the problem will be solved thats in almost in evry WM6 ROM and not only Athena\Ameo but also other phones. so its not something to be worred about it will solve itself automatically after a complete drainage and then recharge process.

I had noticed this, then I also noticed the unit was not powering off as instructed after the given time. A soft reset sorted that out. Battery life now seems back to normal.

Is this what everyone else is getting? I am running DCD's latest Rom and Radio.
I used to get two days, now i may get one. This is with no GPS running or any programs. Or making any calls.
Any advice?
Rephrase then.
How much battery life is everyone getting on the new Rom?
Are you sure your wi-fi switch is OFF?

"These are some factors that could cause your battery to drain fast"
The brightness of the screen is a factor. Try lowering it if possible.
Disable active sync, bluetooth, wifi, and beam when not needed.
Using the GPS drains the battery quick. ( results vary )
Push email also assists with battery drain.
Put your phone on standby when not in use.
Also the extensive use of PIE and Windows Media Player also assists with the drain of battery.
Last if you have poor signal strength this can also be a factor for battery drainage.
There are others out there but these are some that I encountered and learned live with.
There is a battery hack out there that can help you with your battery life. I don't know from the top of my head but search for a registry battery hack.

all those are try but when you first got your phone did you charge it all the way before using it cuz messes up the battery i know it did for me
Follow up.
On my original Rom I could get 48 hours on a charge.
Today I got 8 hours. I did not use GPS, I am not using vibrate for calls. I only got two calls. And two emails.
Basically I am using the same settings as I had on the original Rom and getting about 24 hours less battery life.
I guess I'll switch back and report then.
Perhaps this might be it?

DAMN.. that would explain alot.. I have a feeling its the same bug with the titans..
I dunno... I've been through the progression from 2.0.0 to 2.1.0 to 2.2.0 to 2.3.2 and I haven't seen anything like this.
I use the phone for about 10 minutes a day, so not much call time, but I have it checking 4 IMAP accounts every 15 minutes, do about an hour of web browsing, and use the GPS two to three times a day (basically any time I drive anywhere cuz it's fun!) and the most my battery has drained is down to 70% after about 16 hours.
Just to give an alternate view... battery life has been very good for me.

No. When I first got my phone I installed on the apps I researched before buying the phone, configured my WiFi, and imported my playlists from Windows Media and then I charged my phone with the AC adapter.
I use alot of WiFi through out the day along with Stereo Bluetooth Headphones to listen to music one Windows Media Player and I have a very good battery life.
Follow up.
My email server locked up this morning and my activesync wouldn't sync.
BUT my battery life was back to it's old self, used 6% in 4 hours. Very Happy!
Email server is now working and Active synce is syncing.
When I check the activesync program it always says connected now. Is that normal? It doesn't seem like it used to say connected all of the time.
It does look like activesynce may be the problem. The setting are the same as they were before the flash.
Any info would be appreciated.
Update: In case anybody is following this.
I went back to stock ROM and Radio.
Battery behavior is back to Normal. I am going to reflash to GPS Rom and see if that was the problem.

I an confirm this too. A few days ago I noticed excessive battery drain and reset my phone, and put it out of my mind. The only later ROM that I'd retained for days at a time has been 2.3.1 and today my battery level feel down by 50% in ~6 hours of standby. With the power on, with 46% remaining, the OS estimation for usage was 26 minutes. In 1% increments I could see it counting down....
I checked all running processes and nothing was out of the ordinary and nothing except that running task manager was bothering the CPU.
On a reset it appears fine.. Disconcerting. My phone didn't demonstrate this behaviour with the DCD 2.1 and previous ROMs. I don't know if to go back to 2.1 or 1.6.10. I'll see if this issue shows up again over the next few days.
That was the same problem I had.
Hopefully I'll dp some more testing this weekend.
After a reset the draining was repeating for me.. I decided to revert back to a working DCD 2.1 set-up and all appears fine again.
2.3.1 ROM was a kitchen build including the transcriber and no2chem's nueLED v1.5. That's all that I can think of being out of the ordinary.
I thought I am the only way with this problem. I thought it just a bad battery. Using DCD 2.31. Before 2.31, battery is about 90% on casual used when I left work. With 2.31, it becomes 95% after it pull from the power plug. Browser the web for like 10 minutes, it goes down to like 92%. By the time I finished work, and get back home around 7, it left with like 30%. That's on casual use.
Anyone tried reflashing to see if that helps the battery consumption?
It seems like this is not common, but effects a few of us.

I am also noticing the same effects, i was thinking bout reflashing my rom, i am currently running dcd's 2.3.2
Flashed back to stock and then back to 2.3.2
It looks like I am seeing the same battery drain again!! ARGH!!!
My battery is dropping like crazy too since the latest kitchen. When I first went to DCD's first WM 6.1 ROM I was blown away by the battery life. Same settings , same apps, different ROM and the battery life blows.
I decided to wait it out for a week and see if the new ROM comes out, if not I'm going back to the WM6.1 ROM that I first tried.
My battery seems to be draining very fast now. I don't know if it has to do with me down grading my Radio from .50 to .40 last night or what. I had the phone on the charger and then I took it off the charger to run to the store. I had it off the charger for like 20 minutes and 25% of the power was gone. Is that normal? I used the internet browers for maybe 3-4 minutes and that's it.
Then later I had my phone plugged into the charger and I was talking on it while it was in the charger for maybe an hour or so and the battery went down to like 35% power left or drained like 65%. I went to do something on it while I was talking on it and it powered off!! So, I'm not sure what the deal is anymore. Thanks!
well obviously something is either running in the background without you knowing about it and/or your battery needs to be replaced.
So old is your unit/battery?
Do you have BT on? BT is the number one drainer of batteries
Do you have WiFi on?
Well, I think I got it at the end of the December, and then I think I had everything replace in January. Yes, BT is on and WiFi is off. I'm pretty sure nothing is running in the background.. Thanks.

i recently found that S2U2 was draining my battery when activsync was running. i just upgraded to the newest s2u2 and the problem was fixed.
I found that my battery drained very quickly when I installed the .50 radio, but is better after I installed .40. Seems opposite to what you experienced.

Same issue here. I upgraded to S2U2 1.18 only to fine it had made my battery life terrible. Going back to 0.99c immediately fixed my problem.
Does it happen even after a soft reset? If it were any software issue, a soft reset should fix it and your battery life should go back to normal once you come back.
Have you done anything with the GPS other than upgrading the ROM and radio? I know if the GPS is constantly searching for satellites, that'll drain your battery ridiculously quick.

Same situation here with DCD 3.2.6 Went to .40 radio and all is well. I think GPS works faster but this may be my imagination.
to the OP: check that you don't have "Receive all beams" enabled. I did and by battery barely made it through the morning, after I disabled the Beam, my battery usually lasts the day.
Install the free acbpowermeter. It will show you a visual plot of milliamps over time. It won't identify the culprit directly, but it should help you figure it out.
Yes, well my battery lasts like for one hour or maybe two with me hardly using it at all. It's crazy.
I don't have S2U2 installed that I know of. I didn't install it manually unless it comes as one of the options in the Kitchen. I pretty much install everything in the Kitchen that's not a duplicate version of something. So, that's not my problem unless it's installed some how without my knowing it. Thanks.

Well, I don't know. I haven't tried the soft reset, but I turn the phone off all the time because of other issues I'm having with MMS and SMS messeging, keyboard delay, icons dissappearing, etc. that's also driving me crazy. I"m going to update that issue in another thread after this. Maybe that has something to do with this problem?
Keyboard Buffer Delay

I did do everything in this thread about GPS here:
I think I got it working! VERY FAST VZW GPS LOCK!

Could something there have something to do with it? Could it be something to do with QuickGPS software? Thanks!

OK, I can try it but if I'm not running any software I don't see how it could help me unless I play with stuff to see what happens.. Maybe turn stuff off, etc. when it's draining really fast. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I really don't know where locate this "thing" is happening to my hero but it is definitely related to ROMs.
I recently post my battery problem in the battery's thread in this forum but seems like a battery calibration was not the solution.
I used to have Floyo on my hero and it worked perfect, also battery life was pretty good. Since I changed it to try another one, I can not have any 2.2 ROM in my hero cause battery drains almost 15-20%/hour with wifi off, sync off, screen minimum, 2G network, just the necessary to receive calls.
I've tried all 2.2 ROMs with different kernels, always wiping everything and none of them works property. I decided to install a 2.1 ROM and voila, more than 2 days of battery. Does anyone have any idea of the problem?
Other thing is driving me crazy is why I have to use toggle set (because of handset problem->always is on even when is not plugged) but only with VillainROM 12 I don't have this problem, I thought it was a hardware problem.
For all of this, my hero is understandable, any light to see what's going on? Thank you all
BEfore flashing a 2.2 ROM, wipe EVERYTHING, including battery stats. Let then the battery drain to 0, and charge the phone with the wall charger for 6-7 hours, then turn it on while it's still plugged and leave it like that for 1-2 hrs. Then unplug it and there will be no more drain.
Maybe this could also help you, when you set up your 2.2 rom for the first time,
have you ever disable google backup?
I have been told that drain battery like hell....

Thanks, I'll try next time doing it in this way and I'll see the results thought I think it won't change cause even if it's not fully charged I wipe battery stats also when i flash
Batteries die with time, so if you keep having a problem, you can consider investing $20 in a Mugen Power extended battery (1550 mAh) which doesn't need the back cover to be changed.
I greatly recommend it.
Hey guys
Sometimes when the phone's battery falls under 20%,this feature doesn't work.So when someone calls,I have to wait till they drop it and call them back again.
Do any of you have this issue ?

I think he means Slide first the wallpaper, then we get tap to answer. - No issues here. I think the sort of freeze/lag you are mentioning only has occured to me once or twice, when battery was below 5% and I had not turned on battery saver mode. Hi, It's not just answering calls! The whole phone becomes nearly unusable when the battery gets very low. Before the 8107 update I could use the phone normally right up to the "Goodbye" when the phone switched itself off.

Today I experienced that. Someone called me, and I could't answer, because slide up wasn't working (battery was less then 5% with battery saver on)
Yeah, I have been experiencing similar issues with the screen responsiveness when the battery gets low, usually when it gets below 20%. It can become really unusable.
I've come from using the ipad air to the Z2 and over night the battery drains by over 50%.
See attached.
I didn't use the device at all and stamina mode was on. This is frustrating since the ipad can stay in standby for days without even 5% drain.[emoji15]
Anyone?

Well, for starters, not sure if the battery temperature chart you attached will help.
So you say it goes from 100% charge to 50% overnight? If so,you got some serious issues there. Typical loss is from 3-5%.
But 50 is absurd.
When you check the battery usage, what kind of usage is going on? Display of course is a biggie and uses the most. It's possible some application is keeping the tablet awake/display on. This might explain it a little.
I will explain how to read it. If the usage chart states "Display 54%", then it means of the 50% battery you lost, the display was responsible for 54% of "that" figure. That's how to properly read it.
But you need to find out where the drain is. I suspect a "rogue" app or a bad battery perhaps. A rogue app can certainly cause it, as with running some strange mods that just don't get along well. So you are going to have to hink back and remember what you changed just before you noticed the drain.
You can install an app called Better Battery Stats, and it might actually pinpoint what is causing the severe drain.
You have already installed GSAM Battery Monitor, so you should be able to find the cause for your battery drain.
Do you already have the Root Companion App installed, too? If not you probably should do so, this should provide better stats. Your tablet needs to be rooted, though.
After the drain appeared, open the GSAM-App and select ´App Usageˋ or so (my app is in German, so I donˋt know exactly). Then select ´Show Kernel Wakelocksˋ or so.
Now you should see how long your device was awake and what caused this.
Hi guys! Thanks for your help here.
I have found out now that the battery is definitely faulty as it went dead last night and I tried charging for 2 hours and it still won't turn on.
I am sending it back for a replacement.

No problem. At least you know the cause. Personally I can't recall a bad battery on a new tablet, but I would think it's possible as many tabs as are sold. Sucks you got one though.
