can Atom Life owners confirm that the LCD's are free from the horrible squealing noise? I am considering buying one.
I have had four Atoms replaced for the squealing LCD's and still the damn thing squeals its head off, I swore I'd never buy another O2 but the Atom Life is a good looking package, fast, plenty internal storage, WM6, improved audio, however there is no way I am spending $1000 on a squealing whaling faulty handset again especially with the customer support offered by O2! Why on earth would they continue using Quanta with all the troubles they had with the Atom and Atom Exec.
i suggest you buy o2 FLAME..it much better than all..
-=[serialzs]=-
Yeah I've seen the Flame looks a good unit too but its just too big, so can anyone confirm the LCD's are ok?
I'm using an WM6 atom life and have found no squealing isues with it.

I suggest you surf at www.pdadb.net and do a device to device comparison... from technical specs to looks and sizes... You can even set the specs you want and list out all the options.
O2 is not the sole seller of the good stuff... if you know what I mean.
Good Luck!
O2 Atom Life
Im wondering whats the problem really...because mine is totally awesome. I have no complain on my O2 Life even after I installed HTC Kaiser Home plugin, SPB Mobile Shell/Diary/Back Up, Resco Explorer, etc...what Im saying is that this is the best PPC/PDA I have so far....no complain. Full Stop.
Atom Life - best ever
Totally agree with Observer 365 - best I have owned.
No squealing, no call dropout (have prioritized GSM over 3G to avoid auto switching when 3G gets weak), only slow when i have more than 4 or 5 applications running and one is doing something (to be expected).
The only issue I have is that I have spent close to $3000 on PPCs to get here, and I spend way more time than I have available fiddling with it! Well done O2. A better device every upgrade.
mbb
I am very put off by anything made by Quanta! The Life is just the Atom with an upgraded CPU and bigger rom other than that I hear the Mobo is exactly the same....jigga jiggs is right O2 is definately not the best seller of the 'good stuff' Thank you for your feed back.... btw currently considering HTC Touch 2 (HTC Nike) only if its released with inbuilt GPS or the HTC Vogue if it is released with GSM functionality but I doubt it.
rofl get a nokia n95..
i regretted getting an o2 xda atom exec
this looks good check it out

no chance I'll ever buy any Symbian especially not a mechanical one
i have been using quanta apollo for a few months now and it works flawless....
though i would not say that it is fast but then it aint slow either and the 1GB rom is a plus point with a whooping 624Mhz is another whammy
but if u ask me personally i would prefer my sister's Flame any given day the 128Mb ram does wonders (though u must not mind its huge size!)

though symbian is less hassle but then it may be because it has very little productiveness and the hardware config is still so primitive(i mean the processing and RAM)

This saddens and excites me. I want it, but I just paid for my TP original. Bigger screen looks awesome! Here's the article I first found this info on:
HTC's Touch Diamond, and its QWERTY'd doppelganger the Touch Pro, have formally passed into their second generation:

Remember the HTC 2009 Roadmap leak back in January? Sure you do - it was a pretty big deal here in Windows Mobile land.
So, in what we've seen so far from MWC, was the leak right? Were the Touch Pro2 and Diamond2 on the roadmap? Yes, they were, and we can get a pretty good indication of what carrier is getting what through this roadmap.
The Diamond2 was the Topaz, and according to the leaked roadmap, AT&T will be getting this device, probably in time for holiday time 2009.
The Touch Pro2 is the Rhodium (or, a slight variation of it since it doesn't have a red keyboard). The Rhodium is going to Verizon, says the roadmap, though a variation of the Rhodium (perhaps without a tilting screen) called the Tungsten
, may be headed to Sprint and T-Mobile. Oh yes, and not picture here, the Saphire turned out to be the HTC Magic Android-based device.
Well isn't that just f'n dandy? They can't even realease proper working GPS without severe lag or improper tracking, of FM for that matter, but no less than 3 months after the release of the TP, which I also bought, they release the next big thing. Real smooth, HTC. I'm thinking this is my definite last HTC device.
They can now count me in as a very unhappy customer.
So far as I see the TP and TP2 are very similar:
Pluses Touch Pro:
+Dpad
-VGA Resolution
- VZW memory limited
Touch Pro 2:
+WVGA Screen
+Better Speakerphone (?)
+Zoom Slider (?)
-No Dpad
+Tilt Keyboard
Sooo...other than these, are all the changes software which we will see anyway?
PS - I just picked up Touch Pro today because I really do like the Dpad...

You seem surprised. Do you not know that the time between generations is less than 6 months? Do you not understand anything about the shelf life of a computer?

Funny, just a few short years ago, everyone wanted smaller phones. Now Bigger is better.
Just the opposite for laptops. Look at the massive sales of Netbooks over Laptops. Smaller is definitely "in" now there.
Not impressed
After i was done drooling over the new look of the the touch pro 2, i read the specs sheet and my burning desire to have it was put out. It does look really nice but i think that HTC could have done SOOO much better with it. The first thing i didnt understand was why they downgraded the camera. The kept it the same resolution but removed the flash!. I dont see why they couldnt up the tp2's camera to 5mp considering the fact the the diamond 2 and HD have5mp shooters. I know that the camera isnt evewrything in a phone but when a phone costs nearly 1000 unlocked, it should at least be passable. ANother thing was the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. The HD, which has been out for a while, is practically the same phone (-the keyboard) and has one. Hasnt HTC learned from the many letters that users want a standard headphone jack? I myself hate dealing with connectors. I also dont like how HTC only modified some of the phone programs. The file explorer is still as finger hating as ever and the only thing that saved me on my tp was the d-pad. HTC shouldve done something because when paying that much 4 a phone, one does not want to shell out another $30 for a finger friendly file explorer. Well that was my rant. Tp2 looks nice but isnt much better then the tp1 (besides screen size and tilt).
yea when i first seen the release of these two devices i was real pumped for them to actually come out. But.... after reading the specs on the TP2 the only major changes were the screen and tilt function. It still has same processor and memory so i can't see it be lightning fast without rom custimization. So for now I'm just going to stick with the fuze or maybe wait for att to release the diamond 2.
OK, so i have an LG optimus one, and i can trade it for a TG01. Is it worth it? Going from android to WM, and from capacitive to resistive?
But TG01 has 1gb procesor, and a 4.1 inch screen vs the 3.2 screen on the LG.
I did the opposite transition (from WM on an HTC Touch Diamond 2 to Optimus One) and advise you NOT to do this, WM is an OS on which no amount of patching can cover up its age, the Optimus One is a much better piece of kit from a software standpoint...if you only want to use your phone as a video player, the TG01 would be superior on account of the better resolution and screen size. For anything else, Optimus One.
+1 for that,
I had a TG01 a year ago as an upgrade on orange from a Diamond. After a couple of days I realized I'd made a big mistake, bad call audio, no custom roms at the time. I should have stayed with the diamond.
Talked to a few people at orange, finally got the right person who offered me a swap for three phones, one was a Hero and I haven't looked back, definitely don't miss WM.
Have now got work to provide my boss and I with P500's replacing the blackberries we had before and it's a great phone. Do not be tempted by the big screen on the tosh, there is so much bezel around the edge it looks ridiculous in your hand, managed to scratch the first one orange sent me with the supplied stylus.
And the P500 has UMA on orange, just need to get it working on the hero now.
Stick with the LG.
MG
Thank you for the posts. I decided to stick with my LG, even tough that 4.1 screen is tempting ).
Hello all,
I have grabbed a deal on ebay for a brand new htc 7 mozart for 205 GBP.. the phone is locked to orange uk (i intend to unlock it).. is there any cons I should know about this phone? pls advice me asap!
Thanks!
Biggest cons for me:
Xenon flash obviously doesnt work when shooting video
Slippery as hell (look at my other topic about dropping it. I dropped this phone more than 10 other phones I owned)
Touch buttons for search/home/back suck. I dont know how often I already hit the touch search button and had to think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GM4Lt5k24s
lol!! thx for the comment! so, do you think I should close the deal for that price or it doesn't worth the money? I wouldn't buy it for 400+ GBP that orange sells it, but for the half money I might do!
it is a good phone carmello, especially for that price. i'm using mozart over 2 months and (from hardware perspective) can't really blame it. whether or not wp7 will fit your needs/tastes is a different question...
basically if you feel confident getting a wp7 phone or want to give it a try in any case then mozart is a solid choice.
I am a pretty confident with wp7 because I've tried it before on my bricked focus! my concerns rely on htc's quality.. for me wp7 with nodo serves all my needs as what I seek is some time-wasting games (really liked xbox live), fast internet navigation, gps, office and some usefull apps.. and smoothness first of all! won't be a problem I guess to flash it with nodo as I read from other posts, right?
Cheers guys, appreciate it!
for less than 200 GBP I can find a new optimus 7 as well.. shall I choose that instead of mozart? any advice? pls?!

Even though the Xenon flash means you cant record video with light I would still go for the mozart above all phones for:
Looks, the body is sexy
Cam: 8Mpix instead of 5 and Xenon flash is great for pics (example) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22045001/mozpic.jpg
Uniqueness -> You will hardly see anyone else with a mozart.
I would really suggest a good casing/cover/pouch though cuz im not kidding when I say its slippery, specially if you have dry hands (which I do)
I've had the Mozart since January, and imo it's an excellent little phone =)
I agree with the others, I have dropped it quite a few times already, but so far not even a scratch so it's pretty resilient!
One bonus of the Mozart is that you can upgrade the memory on it (have already fitted one with a 16gb card, will be putting a 32gb card in mine once hardware warranty has expired!) but can be a bit fiddly...
Only bad point I've found is it has a tendency to freeze, or simply lose sound until I turn off and on again! If it freezes, only option sometimes is to pop the battery out for a minute or two...
But, this seems to be happening less with NoDo, so hopefully with more updates it will become even more stable =D
Sent from my now unlocked 7 Mozart using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I'd go with the Mozart. It has gorgeous looks and the camera is quite excellent. The Optimus seems to be a more popular phone but I think it feels awkward in the hand.
I agree that the Mozart is a bit slippery and I have dropped it loads of times and it is still in one piece unlike some of my friends iphones.
The only downside in my opinion is the screen, it has good viewing angles but has some colour banding. Not sure of the screen quality of the Optimus so can't compare them.
already got the mozart in my hands.. its really beautiful and not regretting it at all (not yet at least!), and it only cost me 171 GBP from ebay! I gues this thread might close now! thanks everyone for your help! really appreciate it!
btw, I had unlocked it so I can use an O2 sim card on it and connected it to zune twice so I got instantly the feb and march updates without any chevron unlocks or whatsoever!
You can get the mozart from cex for £195 with a years warranty
http://uk.webuy.com/search/index.php?stext=htc+mozart&ispostback=1&mode=buy
I paid £166 BNIB! that's a deal i think! Point is to be satisfied and cert ainly I am with my Mozart!
Sent from my 7 Mozart using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
If you plan to use your phone as a music player, Mozart is arguably your choice over Optimus. And, as weird as it sounds, HTC is better than even Samsung in this area, while LG is subpar. I'm talking about WP7 devices here, obviously, not in general.
im so dumb i had to find out the meaning of subpar, typically state school education
Currently on the look out for a new WP phone. HTC Radar are expected to release next week and it will be almost twice the price of HTC Mozart and Omnia 7 (at least where I live this will be the case). Is that phone really worth twice the price? I can't wait for price to come down since I don't have any phone at the moment (nokia 5130 doesn't count as a phone). So should I go ahead and buy Omnia 7/Mozart or wait for Radar and buy that instead?
Another question, the Omnia 7 available is orange branded. If I flash a unbranded Europe Pre-NoDo ROM from here will I be able to get NoDo + Mango?
Please note Orange is not a network in my country, this set was imported. So I want to make sure if this set can get Mango.
IMHO, I think it is not. Just be patient...and wait. Unless you extremely love the form factor and you want the front facing camera badly(even it is pretty useless now).
Otherwise, stick to your current device,if not you gonna pissed off. Radar has the same 1ghz processor, same 512mb ram and same 5 MP camera. Pretty much like a HTC trophy with front facing camera and gyroscope. not much different....
Personally, I recommend you go for mozart,it has better camera, higher ram which is 576mb and even the build quality is awesome. I have been using it for 9months. However,if you want slightly better screen and larger screen, you can go for omnia 7. Just to let you know,it might not has a big difference on screen though. Mozart has smaller screen and same resolution with omnia 7,therefore the text on mozart will look more crisp.
save your money and save your life...don't buy the radar....
Either wait or go for Omnia 7 which most people will agree is the best 1st Gen Windows Phone. And yes if it's unlocked and you unbrand it you should get the updates just fine (I bought a T-Mobile Germany Omnia 7 that I unbranded).

can u please tell me which ROM did u use to debrand?
I did it in January so it's an old one (link below) but I made sure I got an official Samsung ROM that had not been touched by any cook. You should easily be able to find something more recent.

I have contacted htc support regarding the presence of gyroscope on htc radar, and it seems it DOES NOT support it:
Dear XXXXXXX,
Thank you for contacting HTC.
Kindly be informed that the G-sensor means gravity sensor which makes the phone rotate when you flip the screen. And the phone does not support the Gyroscope sensor unfortunately. However the HTC Titan that is also running software windows 7.5 has the Gyro sensor.
If you have any other inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact us again.
For further details, please note that you can contact us via support line or via email following the below link: http: http://www.htc.com/europe/support.aspx. Thank you so much for using HTC products.

actually it does not have neither gyro or compass. the ffcamera works nice in "well-known-and-used-voip-software-i-cannot-say" so if you want ffcamera its worth the upgrade either from trophy or mozart.
where i live mozart, trophy and radar is all priced allmost the same. if you dont need ffcamera just go with mozart. has the same wonderful screen and unlike others xenon flash (witch has its ups and downs). from all previous htc windows phones, radar has atleast twice the sound loudness (tho after level 15 it loses some quality, but atleast you can go over 15, up to 30. It feels like HTC HD7 and others only went up to 15)
im thinking about getting one as well but its so expensive right now -__- $400, you can even get a sensation for $100 less and the dell venue pro for $200 less. makes no sense
i like that phone ,smooth and looks awesome
I got mine today morning and I've been playing with it. I bought it because my the gorilla glass above the screen on my Dell Venue Pro, which I purchased earlier this year, got shattered. I had my DVP off contract with Tmobile so I bought this for the full price which cost around 400 bucks.
Anyways, the screen is little small for my taste but the form factor and the camera, not the front facing one, is really good for low-light situations. FFcamera is also quite good for what it is. The phone is too light coming from DVP but I'll get use to it.
Anyways, I bought it because I had to, otherwise I would've waited for 3rd gen phones or for LTE/multi core phones when it comes out, but I am very happy with it so far.

Yeah, I got a case for the phone and the weight issues gone and I adjusted to the screen size very fast. I got somewhat big hands and fat fingers but it's easy to type on it.
I didn't get a replacement DVP for like 200 bucks because I've been having problems with DELL for a very long time. I have DELL Studio XPS laptop along with DVP and both of them sorta broke at the same time so I had to deal with Dell customer rep for two weeks straight. It was hell.
