Hi all noobz and ooldies,
please be informed and ensure that Nanoscopic v1( and perhaps all its forthcoming variants ) is infected with very very OLD basic bug of SD card.
the developers still could not provide any satisfactory solution of it.
Rather ROM is good in all other respect beside a only satisfactory battery consumption problem ( which will certainly grow up if SD card problem tried to resolve).
We dont need Cuble or Flow.
we can live without them but not with MMC card prob and huge batt consumption
please dont over n overwrite ur roms

Make your ROM, andwe see...
Nanoscopic
I have been running Nanoscopic for the past 4 days and consider it to be quite a good build.
Only problems for me so far is:
The WIFI bug, sometimes wifi will not start however if you press the power key sleep the handset generally wifi will start.
Certainly seems a more stable rom than even the PDAVEIT 4.006 rom which for me keep on loosing my gmail and wifi settings on warm boot.
@SHM
When cooking Roms it's literally impossible to test all the combinations!! even when Microsoft make the os, they release new builds once in awhile.. which means they fixed some bugs.. ( and created new ones).
You don't have to use big fonts to cross your point. Just do some research and start to cook your own rom if you really want to make a difference.
now for your sd problem, well I have a 4Gb Sd card, and Touch V6 sometimes didn't recognize the sd card. With the new roms to be released ( Crystal and Touch V7) we used new sd card drivers. I have absolutely no problem with my sd card. Still I can't guarantee anything for you.
for batter consumption, in Crystal and V7 , we've done what we could possibly do! but if still you install hundreds of program and keep them running in your memory still your phone will suffer from batt consumption.
Maybe you spend 2 or 3 hours flashing a new rom to your device and then post the bugs and expect the rom cookers to fix them in no time, but believe me when i say this , the rom cookers spend many many days and night to cook that rom for you, so a little respect wont hurt anybody.
Anyways I hope you find Crystal/V7 a rom you can rely on.

I have all respect to cookers and i know how tedious job is this rom cooking.
It might be my nature that a say everything that i like or not, but its not meaning that im against ny one.
well i spend approx 8- 10 days to test rom and till date i have only flashed and used only 5-6 roms(Nanoscopic is latest), just because i cant dump myself in flood that rom cookers have created here with numarous builds, again and again almost same with minor changes/bug-fix. A 2-3 milestone builds gives decent personality to cooker( rather throwing every thing on forum ) like smart1, Aserg ( dont think im favoring them).
well ill wait for crystal to be in shape, but still i donno what itl do on my device

could anyone please introduce the most stable rom for Atom Life with M2D?
or I should install M2D seperately?
Mine is now having a big problem, once it suspended, it never wake. And I have no way to know that it is dead, coz the light is still flashing.
That's really bad, I missed a lot of calls.
I think Medkid has lot of stability to offer than the other ROM's but personally speaking I didn't find problem with PDAVIET Atom life ROM's either. Now they are with TF2D it makes things much more prettier.
Did you find any problem with TF2D? I guess they are less buggy now.
Let the developers know if you are facing any specific problem they will surely love to remover the hiccups.

I am experiencing machine dead after suspend.
Random crash (screen freezing)

Oh thats unacceptable at any cost
Did you get your device checked from the vendor. I am afraid if everything is right with it. Try to change the ROM & I am sure you will see the difference[if its not about hardware]
Check my signature, this is one of the best ROM with stable TF2D. Just give it a try & let us know. Good luck.
@mcdull
try removing the sd card and then rebooting. It might work.
Also which ROM are you using?

Hi guys,
I have HTC-NIKI 100.
I am testing and trying different ROMs almost every week.
So too much of flashing can cause any hardware failure or some kind of damage to the phone ?
Please reply...
as far as i know, updating roms regularly and often should not have a large impact on the hardware
saying this, you are writing to hardware and overwriting it subsequently, which, like any hard drive has it's issues
i suggest once you find a rom you're happy with, stick with it for as long as you can - i've done about 3 or 4 6.1's and a few 6.5's, but i've gone back to 6.1 until 6.5 is officially released and i'm happy with customisations!

The ROM of the phones all have a certain number of writes before it starts to fail. However, these are in the thousands of flashes.
Just look at us poor cooks. Each new build needs a flash, test and redo if it is not good. I've flashed my phones up to 10 times a day with each new release - more when testing out my own newly ported XIP/SYS. It's part and parcel of what we do for the joy of achieving something...
10 times a day, oh my GOD !!

Yes that's cookers destiny...
If we want you not to have to flash every day after each small fix, we have to test, test and retest by flashing our modded ROMs until they seems perfect.
So we can really thank all cookers that are posting their work for us
Fellow forum users please forgive me for asking. I came from the Windows Mobile realm and had much experience with cooked roms and all. I bought my current Hero to rid all of this stuff and just have a phone that works. It works.. and besides the fact that it is not the fastest one i am happy with it.
What i hate is the lack of usable memory, one app to many and voila .. memory issues. The thing i need is App2SD (yes i have researched!) .. but what i don't need is an instable rom. The thing is for my work and i heavily depend on connectivity such as Exchange, Gmail, Twitter BT and GPS.. oh yeah and calling would be nice.
All i want is to be able to get some apps to the SD card. No do i really need to root the device and then use another rom? Or can i use stock rom and still be rooted? As i understand App2SD is part of the roms and not that easy to incorporate yourself right?
Hope i am not asking for something that has been laid out numerous times.. if so please excuse me for that.
Thx..
OK. Apps2sd needs root to work. If you go to www.villainrom.co.uk, then click device specific, GSM hero, then look for stock rooted 2.1, the stock rom is there with apps2sd by kendon. No link just now as I'm on phone but I can get one if needed soon
Thank you tah is indeed included in the rom... let me browse that site.. thx so far! appreciate it
Hello everyone.
I recently purchased a nook tablet(16) and for the past two days have been on youtube.com and the XDA forum learning about rom development. I can tell you I am quite fascinated by this and the first thing I will do is install CM7.2 When I get my nook (already bought 8/16/32GB SD cards).
Although I am a web designer and do not have any programming experience(OS), I am here to lend my support to the development of CM9 in any way shape or form. Again, I have no knowledge of coding or any intricacies that goes on in developing a rom, but I can be useful in testing and experimenting features that haven’t been worked on or are buggy, in essence, I can help with the grunt work so to speak.
I have read all threads pertaining to CM7/9 and I think someone pointed out that the best setup would be having CM7 on a bootable SD card, and CM9 on the internal. That's probably what I’ll do when I get my nook unless someone else has a better suggestion.
Of course all this goes without saying, If you guys don’t need someone like me or you think I’ll just be wasting everyone’s time here, let me know. I just want to show some support.
Thank you,
JRam13
Welcome to the community. It's always good to have more testers for ROMs (and kernels soon!)
I am set up like you said, I have CM9 installed internal, and I run CM7 from SD card and it works out really well. I recommend trying it out.
Excited!
Pretty exciting day, just got my nook in the mail. Unfortunately, the accessories I bought along with it have yet to arrive (including sd cards). So cm7.2 will have to wait another day.
I'm hoping to get involved with some dev work myself. I just compiled my first cyanogenmod 7.2 from scratch last night so now I am going to start to work on tweaking it and building some roms. I hope that by the time CM9 is stable and ready to go I will be a competent ROM dev.
Good luck and enjoy the new tablet!

That sounds great. Can you keep me updated on your projects I would greatly appreciate that- It sounds like you know a lot more about this than I do. I just learned all things related to programming about 4 days ago reading these forums, and I would like to follow on someones footsteps to get myself going.
Im not waiting any longer though, I'm going to the store to get myself an SD card.
Sounds good. Feel free to ask any questions you'd like and I will try to help you out.
My first bump on the road... Win32 Disk Manager is not recognizing my SD card reader device. Checking to see if it's a driver issue.
Resolved. Thanks Cubanluke.
Simply mount the sdcard on the Nook, plug the nook into the computer and make sure you are writing to the drive that is the external card.
Cuban?

Whoa are you Cuban? I'm Cuban as well, born in Havana. Thanks for the help, didn't think about how i can just simply mount the nook to my computer.
Update
Just an update.
CM7.2 finally installed on the nook, running really well, no major hiccups thus far. Since I'm new to the Android OS, I will be playing with it to familiarize myself with the platform.
Things I will be doing:
-Set up google play
-download few apps and games
-play around with themes
By the way, I used EaseUS partitioner to partition my 8GB SD card (Memorex class 4). Seems to be running smooth.
Things I've noticed thus far:
-There seemed to be some sort of screen tear at startup (the android on the skateboard)- not a big deal, and have not noticed it anywhere else.
-Weather widget crashes/ doesn't display weather on screen.
Please let me know what other things I should be doing and playing around with. Thanks.

Born in the states, but father and his siblings came with the waves of rafts after Castro. A lot of family still in Havana though.
Glad you're sorted. Enjoy.
Just curious are you running CM7 on internal or sdcard? You have CWM on internal?
Personally I'd recommend getting CWM on internal if you haven't, making a nandroid backup of your current rom, and then installing CM9. CM7 is well done and props to the devs that worked on it, but it was never meant for these bigger screens (tablets). CM9 is just pure sexy.

That's very cool, I lived in Miami for 20 years before coming to Chicago (wife doing her PhD).
Anyway, right now I am running an unrooted nook with CM7 on an sd, so I do not have CWM on internal. My goal IS to have CM7 on a bootable SD and CM9 internal- however, I'm holding that off until I get the SD cards I ordered from ebay (could take forever).
Well if you get impatient/bored, its as simple as rooting the stock OS, using Indirect's app to flash CWM to internal, back up the stock rom and then flash CM9.
I suppose you could also just put the CM9 zip on the internal storage and use CWM from the sdcard to backup/flash as well.
Whatever you do, good luck and enjoy.
Battery %
Ive looked everywhere and I cant seem to find where to option to display battery % on the status bar is.
im looking for the route to go from here
ive successfully rooted and rom'd phones a few times no issues there but there are so many things going on im lost
i have a few issues i hope i can get help with and a few questions that will come out of them issues
my phone gets pretty sluggish after time the phone wont open and using it makes it get hot pretty quick
i dont play any games on it or install many odd apps
mainly i use:
phone
camera
video camera
facebook
sms
and email i have 5 accounts i use 3 gmail a yahoo and an exchange from work
should i use a different kernel?
is the newest android the best thing i should use on it ?
i see that the non working features of some of the roms is things i need to use like the camera or hidef recording.
also i see different things on different forums i know its a strange question because im on here but is there a forum best suited for the razr maxx ive used xda for my lg my galaxy tab10.1 and now the maxx just curious
also is there a way to make it send the pictures to the external sd card using it fills the internal one up and it sometimes locks up completely as it gets close to full, then i have to connect it usb and move the pictures to my PC
ive included pics of my system
Looks like you're running it on slim bean with 4.3.
If you want features like HD recording, then I suggest try some stock 4.1 based ROMs.
For storing images, you can find the option in settings. If you don't find it there, then you can swap your sdcards.

One big question to ask is do you use MMS (picture messaging)?
I say that because a lot of ROMS do not have it fully functioning, so that is something to keep an eye on. I am currently using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535920&page=45 on mine, and it is working pretty well, but some people are experiencing issues with MMS and bluetooth (I am not facing those issues. Also, take some time to look at kernel upgrades, like JBX http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223517, these can greatly alter the performance of your phone for the better and add things back in like 720p video recording.
thanks for the answers
i do use mms from time to time i have noticed that a rom i used in the past was one of the ones that didnt mms after a few fights with people that i didnt ignore them lol
last night i tried flashing eclipse 1.5 but it wouldn't boot i think i was using the wrong version maybe? so today i reflashed slim spyder 4.3
why is it that the android 4.1 stock roms will work better than the highly modified custom roms ? isnt the idea of developing new features to make the best of the OS and hardware and have all the features without the BLOAT ? ( i made it look fat for effect hahah)
how do i swap the sd cards ? maybe a link, and will it help? im not sure because it saves them to the internal storage not the internal sd card i think and the phone gets all filled up nd then goes completely haywire
im really unsure on what of those 2 links would be the best way to go
i also not sure how to know if im on a stock -based rom
It looks like you are on SlimBean, so not a stock rom.
I don't know that I would go as far as saying that stock roms work better than highly customized roms, but there are a lot of "unofficial" or "alpha" build roms that just aren't finished. Those will inherently have issues.
Can you post the links to the threads that you got the rom from? There are a couple different options for your phone, depending on your carrier. It looks like you are on CDMA, so you need to make sure you are downloading those builds, not UMTS builds.
As far as the links go, use the first link to get the new rom, and load it through safestrap. If you need a tutorial on that, you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427125
When you boot into safestrap, you will create a partition and install the rom, then reboot and enjoy!

The answer would be a very long story but I'll cut it short as much as I can.
Everything you said is absolutely right. But some of the reasons the custom ROMs doesn't work are locked contents by the manufacturer.
Locked bootloaders, locked libraries and many more. We're lucky that some devs actually devoted a lot of hard work to even make custom ROMs work on this device.
So our phone has a lot of locked stuff which is necessary for things like HDMI and HD recording to work. The custom kernel cannot access it.
So these features work with stock Moto kernel only which was based on 4.1
To swap sdcards, you need to edit the build.prop. I shall post the steps as soon as I have access to my laptop.

To swap sdcards. You will need a file explorer with root (E.S. Explorer or Root Explorer).
Go to system and open build.prop for editing.
Search for the line
Code:
#persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=1
Change it to
Code:
persist.sys.vold.switchexternal=1
(remove the #)
Save the build.prop
