Atrix Won't Launch Entertainment Center! HELP!

I was foolishly trying to do the hack for webtop over HDMI, and most likely messed up the files in ADB for the entertainment center.. now when I plug in the phone to the TV via the included HDMI, it won't even show the option to launch entertainment center. If anyone could help me, it would be VERY appreciated!
did you backup the files you replaced? Did you take notice of what you were doing and which files? If so just replace those off the DUMP from the SBFs.. if not then titanium backup, flash the SBF, adn start over.
Well I dont even think the files got replaced, cuz the command window kept saying it couldn't find files to even replace them with. I unrooted the phone, thinking that would solve my issue.
Did you try the steps in the thread to "undo" the webtop mod? If so, best bet at this point is just SBF back..
Those won't work for me. :/ and could you please help me with flashing the SBF? Would that fix my problem? I really dont want to mess up this phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072
thats the guide to flash the SBF... i jsut gave another guy hell for not searching- consider yourself lucky lol. By flashign the SBF it will take you back to "retail" load. Make sure you phone is charged before starting as it takes about 20ish minutes or so to complete and doesnt charge during the time its doign the business
Alright haha, thank you so much Now on that page it has 2 downloads at the time.. I'm assuming I'll get the 1.2.6 download right? My atrix's build number says OLYFR_U4_1.2.6

Yeah, you're gonna want the 1.2.6
But I do suggest that you install GingerBlur actually and have the hack readily available without having to do much yourself, and also be able to do the HDMI Mirroring. Unless you want to keep the look of motoblur (blech).
Hm... I'll have to think about it.. My phones about dead, so I have time to decide. I honestly like Motoblur and would prefer to keep it.. But I want the Webtop hack to work so bad, but I can't get it to work :/ ugh
RSDlite won't install.. it says "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Same Issue - Help Needed
My phone has the same issue as well. When I plug in my phone into my TV, all that shows is the Motorola symbol. It does not launch the entertainment center menu. Is there a way to fix or download an app to fix?
FYI, I'm not a developer. I came across this from a google search so I wouldn't know how to do any install, reboot, etc. As well, I bought this from another person who was an app developer. I'm assuming it's been rooted and I'm assuming that's why the entertainmnet center menu won't launch. Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Poke lock?

I have been noticing that ever since I got my refurbished fascinate (to fix 3g issues) every time I get a call I get a phone app poke lock. The exact line from the dumpsys Power is
poke lock 'PhoneApp': POKE_LOCK_IGNORE_CHEEK_EVENTS
And that's as far as my knowledge takes me. the only way I know to clear it is to reboot and that sucks to do after every call. Can anybody help me?
Thats actually a setting In your phone to ensure the phone doesn't lock as your in call....apparently someone who owned it before you set it, and your carrier got to lazy to update full settings.....
Ill find info on fix, however sure fire way to fix, is flash a new kernel or simply go to Settings+ Factory data reset.....
Be advised obviously this will wipe your entire phone to scratch....backup your contacts, and as a final disclaimer this is about 90% to work...
Best of luck!!

This problem plagues me from com rom to cm7, otb to pbj. When I forget to reboot, it eats my battery alive, not to mention driving me nuts

Maybe
Well i think i found you solution, ive NEVER dealt with this issue so im not 100% sure but i am a web developer and a professional coder, so it does seem like a great place to start,
You will need Root explorer and head on over and find the file
libs/ui/Input Dispatcher.cpp
from there the simplest way i would think is to move this file onto your computer, and edit the coding as the link below (and where i got this information) describes.
http://gitorious.org/rowboat/frameworks-base/commit/a87ea46/diffs
To open and edit the CPP file it varies on what system your computer runs.....
Mac:
http://www.codeblocks.org/
http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/homepage.jsp?code=CW_HOME
PC:
http://www.codeblocks.org/
http://www.editplus.com/
Linux:
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/moreinfo/c.php
Now, i am a bit tired, so if i have read this alllll backwards and that actually tell you how to get to the problem you ALREADY have lol then, im at a lost! I'll look more and more into this for you and hopefully get you more and more detail till its fixed!
Now I know I'm up pretty early for a Saturday, but I can't for the life of me find
/libs/ui/inputdispatcher.cpp
with root explorer searching or just exploring around. I have a couple folders named "lib" (one in the root directory, one in /system, plus app files), but for the life of me I cannot find a ui subfolder. Anyody? Am I blind or do I just need some more sleep?
I get this same poke lock so I am interested to see if this is something that shouldn't be happening.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Ok
Mk sorry ive took so long to come back around, i keep mighty busy with my 5 month old, gimme a few more minutes to quest my phone and find it, then ill give both of yall my best and final answer lol
EDIT-
OOOOOk Melon, your first post you told me what dumpsys power is telling you poke lock 'PhoneApp': POKE_LOCK_IGNORE_CHEEK_EVENTS
HOWEVER if you look RIGHT above it, you will see "mPokeLocks.size=1:" Now we need to get that 1 to a 0, however i havent found a positive fix to this, alteast i now know why your situation is occuring, please be patient im trying to see how to edit that file to "0"
EDIT EDIT-
And again, i just spent an hour looking into this deeper and deeper, and this is allll i can tell you
1. Its a glitch in gingerbread
2. What i said in the first edit stands true, you must get that "1" to a "0"
3. I've got into everything from busybox, down to the files its self, yes i've found the appropriate files, but not sure how to edit them
4. Im running a Full EC09 2.3.3 i know you said you have flashed and went from every ROM however i can't seem to see why flashing through an outside source (not on your phone) like using Odin and taking the file found here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/fascinate/8081-gingerbread-fascinate-release-thread.html (mine) will not erase and clear that setting with a new system update.
5. Im really about to lose my mind at how deep this rabbit hole is going for this (what seems to be) a simple fix!!!
Final thoughts, even if you have done it 500 times, go get Odin, download the kernel from the link about and click start! (after putting your phone in download mode obviously lol) and if that just doesnt do it, i really have no other clue!!!!
I'm not against trying this, but I'm currently running com rom 2.1 and still having the issue. Would flashing this ruin any frameworks? Also, I don't know if I care to jump to EC09 and all of it's sd frying badassery
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Agreed on frying the sd, it did mine! but i back up my stuff, as far as mixing signals and messing with the frameworks, i'd really advise NOT to flash it as i have no clue on that and i wouldnt want to completely render your phone useless!
phew, i mean theres your flip of a coin, i've read atleast 5 other forums of people having the same issue and the best result is to do a killall -9 com.android.phone, but that only fixes until the next call comes in.....
So keep working with it, and hope theres a fix soon....or flash EC09 back up your data and hope for the best, either way here its kinda a lose.
But the best thing i can still guarantee if YOU know any other way, is that in that dumpsys file that says the number 1 if you can get that to 0 somehow, someway, and replace it in phone i'll put 50$ says that will without a doubt fix your problem, but locating that, and changing that in-leis the problem its self!!
Sorry i couldnt do more for you
Best of Luck

[Q] PLEASE HELP fast!!!

I am trying to unlock my bootloader so im using the automatic thing..
My phone says failed to boot 0x1000. it warned me that this might happen and that i can use the volume keys to select fastboot but the volume keys arent doing anything..
help!
when youre phone is first booting, the very first thing you have to do is hold the down volume key (instantly after boot starts) and then press the up volume key to select it
ok so i did that and now at the bottom it says
"current choice is mode:
fastboot
starting fastboot protocall support"
the next step it tells me to do is turn off the phone while i press and hold volume down
but it wont let me turn it off.. the power button isnt doing anything
please if somoene could help mee
skip that step. You already did that step (what I just told you to do). You now have to run the fastboot protocols that they tell you to use in the "pudding" thread
edit: don't worry man. I'm here to help. Just keep telling me whats going on
i THINK i MAY have figured it out!!!
the phone now has the big Motorola sign with dualcore technology under it and it says
unlocked at the top right.
ill let you know if it eventually finished turning on..
EDIT:
does it usually take this long??????
sounds like you took care of it. If it says unlocked, youre good!
Good job man
does it ever boot? does it take a long time the first boot?
its still at that screen. -- never done this before if you cant tell.
no worries man. Give it a couple minutes!
You'll learn a lot as you keep doing more and more. In case your contacts get deleted, be sure to check out an app called "contact restoration" in the app market from moto. Works great. And be sure to check out faux123's 1.3 OC kernel (most stable I've seen so far) and either the Alien 4 rom or CyanogenMod7 pre-beta 3 (what I run and I love it)
okay ill give it a couple more minutes hopefully itll do somtehing
and yeah I want to put the alien rom on here.. is cm7 pre beta 3 better working than alien?
what do you think
EDIT:
its still at that same screen.. should i be worried yet?
well, for you, I'd suggest running alien build 4 with the alien 4 theme. It runs really smooth and has very few issues. You should do some research into CM7 though...I can do lots of cool **** with my phone that I never knew was even possible with a cellphone
The only problem is it's not a very good "all day, everyday" rom. Some things dont work and there are some quirks but all basic functions work well
stillllll..
man...that's a little unusual. I've never heard of it doing that. Let me ask a buddy real quick
okay because its still doing it haha gt back to me soon !!
That happened to me, just pull battery and reset

one more question -- which rom do you think is best?
Alien 4 (or any build) for a standard, everyday rom for sure.
yeah thats the one i am downloading right now.
I rooted the phone now and installed superuser.
once i download the rom and put it in my phones storage do i get intwo cwm by holding power and volume down ?
and then do i just flash it

OTA update from 45.2.7 to 45.3.6 fails - FIXED!!!

Update Failure from 45.2.7 to 45.3.6 SOLVED!!!!
LOTS of people who purchased NEW Photons in the past few weeks have phones that shipped with a faulty image from the factory. These phones shipped with Software Version 45.2.7, but are ABSOLUTELY UNABLE to upgrade to 45.3.6. Anytime you try to update, the installation stops at 30% and quits. The common error message has something to to with the AccountAndSyncSettings.apk file.
I've figured out a FIX to the update failure. It may seem like it's a bit risky, but if you're on the last day of the 14 after initial purchase when you can swap out the phone no questions asked, it's worth a try. Actually, it's pretty simple without a lot of heavy lifing. Keep in mind, the phone this worked on had very few apps installed and was NOT rooted. I work in the IT field, but have NEVER done any modding - and I found it quite easy to do.
Some Background: My phone was purchased NEW direct from Sprint on 10/08/2011. It came with software version 45.2.7. When attempting to upgrade to 45.3.6, I received the now infamous error that has something to do with the AccountAndSyncSettings.apk file. Tried EVERYTHING the first few days with the phone - no upgrade success (about 15 factory resets). Made multiple posts on this board and read all of the responses for days. NO UPDATES from Sprint or Motorola. So, I took the phone back to a Sprint store for a 'no questions asked within 14-days exchange'. Never activated email, didn't even sync my contacts. Just went straight to the update. The new phone was also a 45.2.7 Software Version phone, and as you can probably guess, Update Failed on the 2nd phone as well. Went to THREE Washington, DC area Sprint authorized repair facilities to see if they can 'manually' update the phone, or even re-image the phone. Sprint was USELESS!!! Not only did the 'technicians' (and I use that word VERY loosely) not know anything about our problem, they had NO means to manually apply an update or write a new base SBF (system boot file) to the phones. Finally, after sitting in traffic coming home from work today, I had reached my breaking point.
The Fix: After days of scouring websites and phone calls to Motorola and Sprint (those were nothing more than a waste of cell minutes), I figured maybe I could mess with it myself. I had been hesitant because I was afraid of 'bricking' the Photon and then I'd have nothing more than a $200 paperweight. Then it hit me. What if it was already 'bricked'? Somebody has had to have done it to their Photon already. If they had, they must have looked for a solution. If there was a 'recovery solution' for a bricked Photon, maybe that fix may solve the problems we are all having with our BRAND NEW Photons.
Searching last night, I found a link from a few months ago. As a new member, I'm not allowed to post the link. But if Google these exact words, the VERY FIRST return is a page from the AddictiveTips website.
Came home from work, poured myself a cocktail and I went to work. First I downloaded the SBF. Now this takes the phone back to the version PRIOR to 45.2.7 (sorry, forgot to write that down when taking my notes). When you follow the link to download the SBF, there are a bunch of link options. Some have been taken down, others are still working. The file you want to download is 471MB and has this filename:
1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US
Then I downloaded the RSDLite software and drivers. I used a 32-bit Windows 7 laptop and installation went without a hitch. There are 64-bit drivers, but I'm not sure how they work. I did read where 'some' people had problems with the 64-bit varieties, so that's why I made a point of doing it on a 32-bit PC. From there, the instructions on the above listed link worked PERFECTLY.
There are a few things to keep in mind. BE PATIENT. This does take a while, and there were a few times that I wondered if something went wrong. It may hang at some stages for a few minutes, be patient.
Once I flashed the phone with the SBF and it was done installing and rebooting, (much to my amazement) all of my apps and customizations were in tact. I pulled my SD card to be safe, but I suspect it wouldn't have messed up my SD card. I would pull it prior to flashing just to be safe. If you want to take one extra step just to ensure success, you could do a factory Reset PRIOR to doing the flashing. I didn't have to, but it probably wouldn't hurt.
Literally seconds after it booted into the OS for the first time post SBF flashing, I was alerted to a software update: Update 45.2.7 (6.5MB). Downloaded rather quick and promted me to install now or later. I pressed install and away it went. Once again, be patient. It takes a few minutes. The progress bar moves rather steadily until it reaches 75%. Then it appears to stall/hang there for a few minutes. Then, the install progress bar vanishes and the OS boots up. A few seconds later, I got the message "Software update was successful. Your phone has been upgraded to 45.2.7". I went to SETTINGS, ABOUT PHONE, SYSTEM UPDATES and queried for additional updates. Sure enough, 45.3.6 was available. Forgot to document the file size. Downloaded and clicked INSTALL. Much like the previous update, progress moved steady till about 75%. Then progress bar and Android character vanished and the phone booted into the OS. About a minute later, the words I have been looking for for over a week:
"Software update was successful. Your phone has been upgraded to 45.3.6"
Queried software update again, and it said your phone was UP TO DATE. Yipee!!!!
I was getting NO SOUND. I think it was beause I inserted the SD card while the phone was still powered on. So, I rebooted the phone and EVERYTHING works perfectly.
If you want to wait for Mark (forum manager) to come up with a fix, I understand. In fact, it's probably the right thing to do. But if you're beyond frustrated (like I was) in the lack of information and lack of solutions from Sprint or Motorola; and want to take matters into your own hands; this worked for me.
do u happen to have a link for the 64 bit drivers ?
I'm unable to locate one.

This method has been on XDA for some time. The sbf of 198_6 was even posted way before Motorola started to push it out. Just takes a peek into the dev section.
Glad you got it working.
Thanks!
This has worked for me.
I just followed the instructions.
@OP - Thank you so much! I had a slow, laggy Photon with the "Sleep of Death", and needed to get it to update so that I wouldn't experience that issue anymore.
I followed your instructions, and got the phone working again. At one point, I wanted to throw the phone at a wall.
Now, I love my MoPho.
Thanks for making me fall in love with my phone all over again!

what should I do before rooting?

I know it's better to backup efs folder. What else should I back up?
i may be wrong, but i thought it was only possible to access the efs folder AFTER you root, then back it up.
Reading would be my suggestion. A simple root is non-destructive.

Alright mate, this is what you need to do before rooting. I'll provide you with a step by step guide, but you MUST follow all instructions to the LETTER.
1. Turn your computer on, grab a coffee and your USB cable that came with the phone.
2. Call your mum, tell her you love her.
3. Go put your clothes in the washing machine.
4. Clean the dishes in your sink.
5. Computer on? Good. Navigate to the XDA General SGH I777 forum.
6. Take a break, you worked hard up till now.
7. Go out for a walk.
8. Buy a dog, they provide companionship and are bargaining chips with your Korean neighbors in hairy situations, like when Korean ninjas ambush you (a known bug in the rooting process).
9. Name your dog, and prepare yourself - this next part is tricky.
10. You're going to die. DON'T FREAK OUT. You DO want your phone rooted right? That's what I thought. Death is only the beginning.
11. Once dead, you'll descend into Hades, where you'll have to fight Cerebus. Good thing you bought that dog now, right? You know exactly how to handle this puppy.
12. After killing him (assuming you did), you need to cut off the LEFT head (there's three, so make sure you cut the right one off).
13. Now, go ahead and talk to the witch who deals with the threads of people's lives, tell her you're just trying to root your SGH I777. She'll understand. Ask her about her "Steel Thread Life Assurance Policies." Be sure to mention me: I get paid by commission.
14. OK, so you're back with the living, + 1 left head of the guard of Hades. Take your phone and place it into the head's mouth. Plug your phone in to your computer.
15. Almost there, good buddy. Go read the thread about how to Easily Root Your phone. They're all updated to make sure you don't trip the flashcounter.
16. ???
17. Profit!
You now made your dear ole ma happy, you own a dog, you died, killed the guard to Hades, came back to life, increased your reading comprehension, learned how to find threads in XDA, you made one less thread about answered questions, and you rooted your phone without having to back anything up beforehand!
Any other questions?
