Hey guys. Since ppcgeeks is down - which is where I assume the explanation is - how do I install jeodek on my verizon 6800? I downloaded the files from the ppcgeeks ftp site - just curious what directory I put them in on the phone for it to work or how to install? Thanks!

Can I install ext rom cab files directly from XDA?
Anyone have midi.sa.cab?? please, I need it...
not midi56.sa.cab...
now problem to install a cab which is located in the ext-rom onto the XDA, just make the rom visible and tap on it.
for the MIDI.sa.cab just look for older ext-rom- files here in the forum, there are many posted and should contain this cab.
I have been reading lots of posts on the forum and got so far but now I'm stuck.
I have an XDAII and have managed to unlock and unhide the extended rom. now I can access the extended rom while XDAII is in the cradle.
I understand how I can add cab files to it and will be using the configcreator tool to edit the config.txt file.
The problem I have is; all the pockekpc software I have, is on my computer and I have only ever installed it through activesync the normal or official way. When ever I have tried to put the files directly on my phone and click on them I always get the messeage this is not a valid pocket pc application..... or something like that.
So how do I convert the software files I have on my computer to cab files so I can include them in the extended rom? ? :?:
To most of you guys this must seem like a nuby question sorry  , but I can't seem to find the answer on the forum.....
Is there a tool I can use or a program that I can use to make useable cab files?
Also just a though when I install programs via activesync does my computer convert the files to cabfiles and then automatically transfer them to my device? if so can I somehow copy the cabfiles from the temporary location on my computer :?:
A step by step guide would be helpfull but any help would be appreciated :?
Thanks in advance
Daz
Some 'high-end' software will leave a copy of their cab files on a specific directory (i.e. you have a choice of choosing). Those you can just go to the directory and copy it. If you do not know what I'm talking here, nevermind
Anyway, for normal simple software, they will most probably extract themselves to temporary directory. Example
C:\Documents and Settings\'yourWindowsUserName'\Local Settings\Temp\
where 'yourWindowsUserName' is your username for the PC. My guess would be, try to search for *.cab files in your temp directory (i.e. as the above dir) before you install your software. THEN, start your software installation, and do a search again on the 1st setup screen, see if you are lucky And try to do another search after you're done with the setup.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for that I'll have a go.

I managed to edit my extended rom! 8)
I was able to add the cab files from tom tom navigator 3 and it installs them perfectly after a hard reset!
The only issue I have, when I run Tom tom for the first time after a hard reset I have to keep entering the activation code. Not really a major issue more of a pain.
Wonder if anyone knows how to get it to enter the activation code automatically :?: Bat file or something :?:
This sites really helped me with my tinkering I think its about time to donate
Thanks for all the help guys

Hi :
Here after what I do with succes :
When installing the application from ActSync, you must select "Storage Card" instead deffault location to install.
Then, you have to cancel the installation process before the progress bar on your PPC's screen ends.
A dialog box will ask if you're sure to abort the process.
At this stage, you go to storage card throught your PC Explorer, and you'll find the cab file there.
You save it away.
This cab file on the storaqe card will be automatically removed when you confirm that you really want cancel the installation process on the PPC's screen.
Or...
Go to c:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync folder in your desktop and you can find there more cabs. Or simply find all the *.cab files on your HDD and you'll be surprised.
Thanks for this I will check out both methods
Does anyone know what the best freeware tool for modifying the cabfile is? and where I can download it :?:
Thanks for the help

I guys. I kinda need some help. I flashed Transformer 1.0 and some files are missing.
I reaaaaaally don't wanna flash it again so can you please post those files for me? or just teach me a way to retrieve them from the rom? (loved to do that)
I used the exes from the kitchen rom soft from the forum and got access to the os.nb files but still the files I need aren't there.
I guess maybe they're on the nbf file from pdaviet's temp rom but couldn't access the files inside it.
The files are the exes for:
\windows\timewizard.exe
msn live(pmsnlive something .exe)
the terminal exe
zip
Could you mail them or post them on rapidshare? I can put a full path and name here from the files here...
Thanks in advance
got the timewizard.exe around the forum
but still some files missing
did you a hard reset?
Yes I did. when it prompted me for the calibration.
I did it again and everything's fine now!
Thanks

Ha, Did that before, but not my bosses phone, just my own. You have to tell us what ROM version you are using. The AudioPara files are different amongst ROMS version (GPS or NonGPS). I am going to take a guess and assume your boss is not running a 3.xx ROM? THe GC AudioPara is for the 3.xx ROM.
You can copy the CSV file from your phone to his phone, assuming the are the same ROM version (GPS vs NonGPS). To do this simply go to File explorer on your phone and copy it that way to the memory card or to a desk top computer using active sync. Then just copy it over to his phone then reboot it. It will be in the "windows" folder from the root of device. Remember when you are looking for the file you need to select "Show all files" as it is considered a system file and will not show up unless you do that.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
had it floating around on computer along with the gc version..believe this is version with louder speakerphone

is this the one that works with the original verizon rom?
The copy of the file that you put there is simply 'hiding' the original file that is in system rom. If you delete that bad file, the original system rom file will reappear.
So just delete the bad file and the ROM copy will reappear. (copy it somewhere first if it makes you eel better)
Help, I have just installed this AudioPara.cab file but now I have no audio?
my ROM version is 2.14.671.3
here is the link for all the audio para files originals and new 3.x.x ones, make sure you read all the thread so you get the right file

Alrighty, here we goo.
I was looking around for voice to text apps, and I came across one.. called "Tellme"
Now, I as I understand this wasn't exactly made for my LEO-usa.
BUT IT DOES WORK.
I have installed the .cab file for this app, installed it correctly the only way one could do it. Then there was a file I was told to download called NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab.zip
Framework im guessing? But I have a problem, I don't know how to install this.. its a zip file, and when I unzip the file it breaks down the cab structure into 192380192381203981203498712348971230489 freaking FILES!
How do I install a cab file that is compressed into a zip file? if you HD2 users want to try and pickup where I left off, here you go.
do a google search for "tellme for hd2" Click the result that has tmobile's forums on it.
Scroll down the forum replies till you see words and convo's regarding TELLME. and you'll notice there is two files needed, the framework, and the cab file for the app.
I got the app installed, but the NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab confuses me because its a cab file that is in a zip file..
lol, sorry if I'm sounding redundant. but damn.
Heres the two files, I'll attach them below.

no worries. just download the .zip file, then unzip it into the the file "NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab". next copy this file and the tellme.cab file into your phone. run the NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab first and let it install. then follow by the tellme.cab. you're done.
yea, you have unzipped it twice, because winzip/winrar also see the .cab as a cabinet, or zip file, and opens it, when in fact that whole file is the windows mobile installer. extract the single cab file to desktop, copy it to your phone, click it in explorer on your phone.
Alrighty, I tried what you said..
I got the .cab file for the NET stuff on the device, attempted installation and it failed at the end, told me to close out of apps, and clear device space?
I have a little short of 1gb of Device memory left, and task manager did not have anything running.
Is it perhaps the ROM im using? I'm using the Energy ROM.
bumppp.
