unlock bootloader 1.50 ruu gives 156 image error

Can someone please help me out, ive searched but have not found a solution. Long story short. I have an evo3d 1.50 locked bootloader, I am trying to unlock using htc method. I get stuck at step 12 after trying to unlock code bin file. My unit is a refurb it came with hboot 1.50. I read about installing the 2.08 ruu then try to complete the unlock process, I did this. When I try to run the ruu, it gives me a 156 image no image error. I redownloaded 3 times same thing, please someone help me out, I really like to unlock and root this device just like my original evo. Thanks in advance.
Where did you get the Ruu?
I got one from shipped-roms.com and didn't have any problems. Try Them if you didn't already. Maybe just a bad ruu.

Going from Joelz Venasaur rom to stock(unrooted)

I've been trying with this for half a day and I've gotten nowhere. I went to the section where it should how to get unrooted again, where i fastboot oem lock (or something along those lines) and then exe the RUU. I believe due to Joelz rom, i was at 3.14.etc and the RUU was the 2.11.etc so it wouldn't flash the image and ended the RUU exe. Then i tried with the PH98IMG.zip but that didn't work either. I'm not sure what to do anymore. There might be something I'm missing, but i don't know what that could be. All help appreciated . Thanks.
P.S. I'm S-on

you need to be s off to downgrade
once i s-off, how do i downgrade? I've never downgraded RUU's before.

Just run the ruu as you normally would.
Okay. This is more of a safe measure question. Do I run a the RUU before I relock the bootloader, and or run ruu, then relock, and then run ruu again?

once your s-off'ed you dont need to lock and relock bootloader to ruu
I think I didn't say it right. What I meant to say is if I want to go back to stock stock settings, do I need to run the RUU, then lock the bootloader, and the run the RUU again?

S-off, this will leave you locked. Don't unlock as there is no reason/advantage to unlock after s-off. Then, just run the RUU either using the .exe from your computer or downloading the .zip file to the root of your sd card and renaming it PH98IMG.zip. Good luck!

Since no one wants to just answer your question. You cannot RUU without locking your bootloader unless you are s-off. So go ahead and relock and run the ruu.

Quick S-Off question

When completed correctly, should the boot loader say locked or unlocked? Search wasn't helpful as all i could find was threads to do the process. Thanks.

Locked. If you need extended fastboot commands, flash a hex edited hboot.

Thanks. I haven't looked at my hboot in awhile so I forgot what it should read.

How to return to stock?

So this has probably been posted already, but I got a warranty replacement and the rezound I have now is S-OFF with unlock bootloader. I know I have to relock the bootloader and it'll flash a stock HBOOT, but what about the S-OFF?

I used this a few months ago and it worked like a charm.

Now am I doing this before or after I run the RUU?
After.

So when I'm trying to run the RUU the exe keeps giving me error issues. So I tried to relock the bootloader but it won't lock and keeps saying "INFODevice was already locked"
Figured it out, had to flash the RUU via .zip instead of exe. Mods please delete thread.

[Q] Need to go back to S-ON, LOCKED from S-OFF Tampered, Unlocked

It has been a very long time since I've unlocked & made this phone S-Off and I forget how I did what. I have searched around and believe I'm ready to do what I'm supposed to do but I want to ask first if these are the steps to take:
My bootloader shows ***TAMPERED***, UNLOCKED & S-OFF
Should I relock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044670
Run a current RUU.
Then and only then, write secure flag On: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612937
Correct? Better safe then feeling stupid.
EDIT:
Followed these steps in approx 15 mins or so.... Seemed too easy but that was truly all you needed to do. Thanks!

Yep, you're on the right track.
Gotta do a factory RUU to get back the oem hboot,
otherwise it's a brick.
After all is said and done, if your screen says S-0n, Relocked,
you can search & find Scotty's little flashable here on XDA that makes it just "Locked".
