Are you closing the Messaging application with some taskmanagers like X button or something? Messaging application should always be minimized.

Carty..

Has anyone experienced the SMS bug that sends a text message to the wrong person? From a quick look online it seemed like they fixed it in 2.2.2 but we have 2.2.1
Anyone have any idea?
Are you using the built in sms app?

Yes, I haven't had it myself but wanted to see if anyone has. I figured since the Atrix runs 2.2.1 then someone would experience the bug.
to create the bug you need to send an SMS to an email address which in turn replys to you. I believe that triggers the bug in the software and requires the update.
As when you ask a doctor what to do about your arm hurting when you flap it. "Well sir, dont do that."
This is what I was referring to:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9392
and as I said:
"This only affects sms messages from people that seem to send messages from some kinda computer system, because they don't come from standard phone numbers"

Yes we were. It is a rare but bad bug that will occur on the Atrix until we either get 2.2.2 or a form of Gingerbread.
Until then I would avoid texting with a non-phone number user.
Hello guys, im the developer of Root Call Blocker, an advanced call and SMS blocking app for rooted phones.
The app is currently in open beta here at XDA:

I dont have a Atrix and need testers! Please let me know if you are interested in some hard-core testing and logging...

I can definitely test. I am actively blocking calls and SMS/MMS from my ex-wife with Extreme Call Blocker at the moment.
<edit> Downloaded and installed. How do you want to receive feedback?
Please do, and let me know if you encounter any issues. Our app (in terns of functionality at least) is way better than the one youre tlaking about!
i just installed it. since the app also blocks sms, it would be nice to be able to add phone numbers from your sms messages. For example in my country we get sms from the government.
Also, it would be nice to have the option to make an action to send a sms to the caller. Perhaps you are driving and would have a profile "driving" enabled that will automatically reply to a caller with a sms

I know it's another app you'd have to run, but check out Bzzy. There's a lite and $0.99 version here. It does basically that.
The auto-reply feature is already in the works an should be ready for the RC build next week.
I will look into parsing sms messages too...
Updated, let me know if your issues are fixed please!

actually chuckled about this.
So much for rogers calling me now!
I'm getting an error every time it gets Root Access that says:
"The Application Voice Commands (process com.nuance,=.android.vsuite.vsuiteapp) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I'm running fix permissions now to see if it helps.
It didn't fix the FC on Voice Commands when call blocker gets root access.
Just downloaded, I will let you know if I hit any snags
I went back to Extreme Call Blocker. Sorry, but it works perfectly for me, and the menus are more intuitive, and the services easier to set up.
Hope this takes off for you though. Thanks for the chance to help test.
Thanks... its surprising how little people actually help us, even though we do our best to improve things for people.

Chillout guys, back on topic please.

If you experience problems, donj just post here - SEND US LOGS.
You can use the "Write to developer" item in the Settings menu!
sometimes it asks for a password, i press back button and it desappears
I think ive fixed that... it will be in the next build in a few hours!

And done...
What is this Voice Commands app? The one that we tried just now seems to crash all the time by itself... is it from your operator?
Anyone else have problems opening picture texts?
Not for me
Everything good on my end also...
Yup, didn't work for me either. I solved the problem by installing the free GO SMS Pro app, which incidentally rules.

nope all good here.
I have a huge and annoying messaging problem on stock. Here's my problem. I text somone and the conversation is formed. When they text me back their message pops up on top of mine and says I've received it at a completely different time! When I text back, the message appears directly below my other message I sent... and so on.. So the messages get all jumbled up! This is REALLYannoying.. HELP?
ANYONE????!!!!
Which ROM are you using and which messaging app?
I'm using stock ROM (2.1 Update 1 with sense).. with the default messaging app.

You know my problem? or not?
Ok. One thing to try. Go to 'manage applications ' then delete data from messages app. This shouldn't delete your messages but you may want to back them up first. Then restart your phone. That is all I can suggest, unless you have thousands of messages, in which case I' d suggest to delete quite a few. Other than that I don't know unless its a carrier problem.
Just thought of one more obvious answer. Go to date and time settings and see if 'network provided values' is checked

Tried it, I'm texting someone now and once I get the response back I should be able to tell if ticking this option changed anything

Aw man. It didn't work Too bad. Thanks for the help anyway. I'll continue my searches.
The time stamps for the incoming text messages seem to arrive at completely different times (FYI)
Anyways if you could offer any further help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I solved it.. I installed SMS Time Fix by Matthew Precious (from the android market) and it fixed my problem.. Thanks for all the help though

You probably have light flow installed. I would uninstall it as it is causing battery drain issues and other problems.
What is light flow and what does it do?
You may have driving mode enabled. Have a look in the hidden toggles in the notification area.
That's exactly what it is haha. Thanks a lot
