If you want to edit extended ROM (ms_.nbf) then...
1. In "Files of type" , you just select to open file type as WM2003 Extended ROM (ms._nbf) don't use auto detection.
2. Using password 0x20040305 when prompt.
3. Don't forget to save ROM before exit.
Have Fun!

3. DzDecryptor v1.0b(Check this thread) ... when i use this utility in folder where ai put all files from zrom.dz i don'find bot.img (i made this stept over and over i foun other ways and nothing i have all others files like system.mbn ,system, zimageramdisk.mbn , etc. but rom.img or other file with*.img nope.)

i made some things and i succed to have system.mbn and boot.img( was copyed from "LG-P500-v20g" folder i don't remember from were came this folder) , i have succesd to open system.mbn and have the folder with apk and others , i make a zip(named myrom.zip) with all files and folder from system.mbn and put there also bot.img ; myrom.zip copy and paste to c:\cygwin\home\userX\kitchen\original_update directory .
start cygwin - open ./menu - option1 (set working folder) - all files and folder were extracted there by kitchen utily("extracting rom"... , and i receive error "build.prop not found" but the file is there when i look in workong folder that was created by the program.
thanks if someone from roumania read this please help, i don't know verry god english
wow
wow a lot of answers
Not an answer but Question....what is coocking ?
Not sure about Cygwin, but linux often sends errors when there it is using a non-native file system (FAT*, NTFS). Another problem may be permissions - Windows and Linux permissions management is different and you may need to run the kithen in a virtual machine. It may also be a kitchen bug - many people are running it on Cygwin without problems. I suggest running a chmod 777 on the build.prop.

[Q] Apktool problem

I want to decompile some system apps and I can't even get apktool to work. I installed java jre and jdk both and I get the following error in cmd:
Java is not recognized as an internal or external command
So I set my environmental system variables for Java on my windows xp computer as shown below:
View attachment 2825945
But I still get the same error as before! I need someone to please help me figure this out before I get even more frustrated!
Make sure you have installed apktool correctly
Windows:
Download The Following From Here
apktool1.5.2.tar.bz2
apktool-install-windows-r05-ibot.tar.bz2
Unzip both files with winrar and put the contents (there should be 3 files) in C:\Windows
if you have java jdk installed you should be able to type apktool and hit enter at the command prompt and if installed it will give you all the options for apkool
Linux:
Download apktool-install-linux-* file
Download apktool-* file
Unpack both to /usr/local/bin directory (you must have root permissions)
Mac OS X:
Download apktool-install-macos-* file
Download apktool-* file
Unpack both to /usr/local/bin directory (you must have root permissions)
did everything still not working
I Followed this guide here which is very similiar: http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/520917-guide-how-properly-decompile-recompile-apks-apktool.html
I stopped at installing framework because CMD would not let me be able to do so!
Any other advice?
I really need to get this working!
Thanks for your help!

[GUIDE][WINDOWS] Easy MD5 and SHA1 calculation via command prompt

Original Webpage
This needs you to download a small file which lets you calculate the sha1 and md5 right from the command prompt!
Tested on Windows 8.1, but should work on any windows, XP and above.
Step 1: Download this file from Microsoft's site.
Step 2: Open the downloaded file and select "Yes" then extract to any desired folder. ( I extracted it to C:/Windows/SysWoW64/ )
Step 3: Open command prompt and type set path=%path%;XXXX , where "XXXX" is the actual folder path where you placed the fciv.exe file while extracting. Then hit Enter.
Step 4: Now type fciv and hit enter to check if everything is working, it should display a large wall of text.
How to check/ generate the sha1 or md5sums for any file
Step 1: Open command prompt.
Step 2: Type "fvic -sha1 'filenamewithpath' ", where filenamewithpath means exactly that.
PROTIP: To make it easier just press and hold shift and right click anywhere in the file residing folder and right-click. Then select open command window here. Now you can just type the filename without the path.
Sometimes it may appear like it has frozen but it hasn't, it'll just take a while depending on the size of the file.
Enjoy!

Unpack Tool

Please provide me link of unpack tool which can easily unpack any syste.new.dat file on windows 7.
