i want office mobile installed with the ROM i just dont want it it the start menu. i cant figure out how to remove it.
i have figured out how to get the other programs in the list just cant find where the office mobile got put there.
i am using dcd's ditchen. this start menu is the list of programs that you see when you hit the start button. not the start/programs list.
for example... windows\start menu not windows\start menu\programs

If I am reading you correct you want to get the office mobile icon off the start menu list, right?
If so, click start-->settings-->personal tab-->Menus Applet.
Once there just deselect office mobile.

I was trying to make the perfect rom too, but I was having problems. I've been trying to make a provisioning XML to make my phone perfect using UC to run it, but I've run into a lot of problems. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

i found it better just to make the OEM's and skip the UC. the OEM would install my apps and the RGU's would make my reg changes. in fact most of the reg changes are all ready done in the kitchen. i just added a few and removed a few.
i removed a few like clear type enabled and notes added to the start menu.
i found the notes addition but never found the office mobile.

you could modify it, or you could remove it and create the shortcuts you want using initflashfiles.

After finaly getting tomtom version 5 installed I run into the dreaded no backlight

Have tried messing with the backlight settings in the control control, no good
I have tried the tomtom backlight fix, installed the dll, run the setup, says copied shortcut, the shortcut is there with no icon, when i run it, nothing happens
Does any one else have any more ideas otherwise i will have to reflash my xda2 back to 2003 Sad

Hello,
I was sick of using the regeditor to fix the messed up backlight settings everytime I started TomTom5, so I looked for a better solution.
I figured it would be the best if TomTom wouldnt mess with the settings
at all, so I changed the binary. it is not very hard to do.
copy the TomTom Navigator.exe to you windows pc.
grab a hex editor and change the following
0x182b9c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c0c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c3c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182ca0 0x61 -> 0x62
what this does is change all the Registry Paths
ControlPanel\Backlight
to
ControlPanel\Bbcklight
as the result, TomTom will not be able to modify the settings at all.
everything will stay with your default values.

I used a "HHD Software Free Hex Editor" but can’t find this numbers to edit
This newbie (no program experience) need some help...pleazzzz
in my case 0x182bc9 value is 00 and 0x182b9c is 69. How can this be ? I changed both of them to 61 (in 2 different files, mind you) and they both work, allthough the latter crashed a few times.
@ postman : I used xvi32 from this site, no programming experience either. I just opened navigator.exe, went to the mentioned addresses and changed the numbers. Seems to work..........

well try to leave c9 as it is and edit 9c. Both of them work on my MDA but you never know. You can also email me the .exe and I'll try it on my device.

If you use mega smarttouch tweak you will lose Iolite wheel.
You need to use SmartTouch_1_1_32635_2 from Iolite packages if you want to have working wheel.

HTC Album will work if you replace the files ha_skin_l.xml and ha_skin_p.xml in .........\OEM\Iolite_MEGA\0409\ExtraFilesPkg with these from manila album package(in building these from the above folder which are for iolite's album version ovewrite these from mega)
Or you can simple delete these files from ExtraFilesPkg.

1. - Empty and LEAVE only the .dsm and .rgu on these folders:

ExtraFilesPkg;
FotaTestPkg;
2. - Replace initflashfiles.dat with the one from Mega in the folder OEM_Lang_XXXX
3. - Make sure you have these files under OperatorPkg folder:
There are some minor things you have to do, but it's too long of a story to be explaining them all here. Basically replace as much Iolite stuff as you can with Mega and open .rgu files with the notepad and edit away.
Hope this helps out some chefs.

I see you use RealParserFilter.dll to play .rm and .rmvb files.
Why do you post it there? Mega ROM doesn't have RealParserFilter.dll.

Well, that certaintly is ungrateful from your behalf.
I added every registry tweak I had, and as you can see, I have some Packages of my own, so files like RealParserFilter.dll and others are there.
To know what do all the tweaks do, just browse the Web a little bit.
Regarding the syntax error, it's not my fault, it's written with " and not with ? on my reg file, I don't know what happened.
Sorry, but you didn't shared anything helpful. You uploaded huge screenshots and regfiles full of errors.
You didn't upload real files, you don't want to tell us what all these posts for.
Do you think we should use Google to find out what did you mean?

Well my first real attempt at cooking a ROM has failed partially . I tried to use miro's clean rom as a base to install sense but after flashing to my device i have no start menu at the bottom left so cant do anything, i cant even flash a new rom ? Im not sure if its sense thats caused the problem or the cabs i added to the auto install (i think i forgot to number them in the registry) but ill figure that out when i next flash ... now i need to somehow flash another rom, i take it the only way to do so is through the pin recovery method or is there some way i can i run the update tool without the start menu ? My phones still detected by the pc so theres one thing, i can see all the files, etc.

Try this. Or short-pin method.
Managed to load another ROM using the pin short method but i think ill have to try that sd uploader tool sometime .
Also, it seems the cause of the start menu not appearing was some cab files i removed from the tg01_edit folder. These are only in miro's rom but are obviously there for a good reason. Maybe miro could explain what they do but for now theres some advice for new cookers like myself - dont remove those cabs.

You have delete DN.cab= no StartMenu!
miROM4 and miROM5 is the only cook friendly ROM. booth have the startmenu. miROM4 has don´t wm Titanium startscreen.
in folder tg_01 are cabs:

I've spent all day cooking ROM's but so far havent got a sense ROM to work, everything else though i've managed to do fine ie changing welcome screen, adding my own cabs, even other packages work fine but as soon as i add sense packages something stops working . I've even tried adding sense on its own to your mirom5 but it still doesnt work. Cant seem to find any info on how to cook sense on xda but if anyone has a link that would be a huge help.
I do understand sense is a little much for myself since im new to cooking but i do have programming experience so its not like im completely new to this, well i guess i am since it doesnt seem to have anything to do with programming lol . My point though is i've managed to add cabs, packages, a new welcome screen i've designed in photoshop, and i've even tweaked some settings in the registry to speed things up but sense just wont work ? If i need to be in the 10th class for cooking sense then that must mean theres something more to it, ie its not just a case of copying the packages to the SYS folder. Theres no harm in me trying and im certainly not giving up on sense so if someone would care to share how to go about installing sense id be very grateful.
Im all for learning too so is theres something else i can try other than adding cabs, packages, etc im up for it .

Well i spent all day yesterday experimenting with different setups but still havent been able to get sense working. I just cant understand why its not working, all my other packages have been fine so i must be doing it right ? I havent found any tutorial thats been of use yet since there all referring to visual packages and as far as i know we need the text version for tg01. For now im giving up but ill try again tomorrow.
In the meantime id appreciate if any chef's could share some advice or tutorials they have used to learn this stuff. My main problem is actually finding the info on this since its all visual kithen tut's which are no good to us.
The main area's im looking to learn are :
installing packages - im thinking this is where im going wrong with sense but then again every other package so far has worked fine. Am i doing correct to copy my package over to the sys folder and adding an app.dat file with the program locations, etc ? What else is involved in installing a package ?
editing the boot.rgu and boot.hv - both these are supposed to be in the xip folder but i dont see any ?
Finding specific folders - ie id like to cook my own fonts so i need to know how to cook files to the windows>fonts folder.
Editing the initflashfiles - this could also be where im going wrong with sense, im copying the manilla entries from another rom dump that has manilla installed already and adding them to my own initflashfiles - is this correct ?
The above are just the main things id like to learn but id like to learn more too so if you know specific threads i can read please post them here.

one tip: post and search in HTC LEO or HTC RHODIUM for spezial help over SENSE cooking, search on others forums like ppcgeek, mobileunderground.
here in forum leestone and i, think dont have time to teach you- we have our ROM´s- i have 6x and support for this and much newer projects.
i help ALcAtRas500 and EVEALEX62 by learning ROM cooking.
for sense you need not only 6-7 ManilaCoreFiles like 2016 update- and the most of this Update have not initialflash.txt with path to incooking xml. files.
for you important is under OEM_Lang409 initialflash.dat here is all path of Packages. when failed this is after cooking the windowsfolder ManilaXml empty and your Sense will dont start ....
o.k. and really i will help you, but don´t have time- and me have all self learning- pls do so
Adding a package is just a case of drag and drop into the sys folder, its making sure you've got the right kind of package thats important. I pretty sure if you've got an app.dat its a visual package.
boot.rgu and boot.hv are in Kitchen\ROM\XIP\ but they are hidden files, make sure your pc is set to show hidden file types.
There are no folders in the kitchen, they are generated when the ROM is built. You would need to use custom scripts or cabs to install them where you need them. I'm not sure if initflashfiles can be used for this or if its only shortcuts.
Editing the initflashfiles.txt is a case of opening it up and editing the text, the following code is an example.

Sorry i know im a pain but this is driving me insane lol !! so lets say im using the miro5 rom as my base and i want to install ONLY the sense packages to this what are the basic steps ?
Heres what im doing:
1. copy miro5 rom to BASE folder, rename and dump with dump.bat found in root of kitchen
2. copy all sense packages (im using these ones here but have also tried directly copying the sense packages from lee's rom) to the SYS folder. Im wondering do i even have all the sense files, which files should i need as a bare minimum for sense - what about the LEO package files are these needed (i've tried with and without) ?
3. edit initflashfiles.dat to include sense programs locations, this is what im adding

5. finally flash rom to my phone
Seems odd that i've flashed so many times and havent got sense working once, i must have flashed 30 times to my phone this weekend !! So if you guys could atleast confirm the above is correct.
Will look on ppcgeek, mobileunderground, etc tomorrow but really i dont even know what im looking for which is my main problem. I've searched xda but havent found any guide related to cooking sense packages. Surely even the mighty miro used a tutorial to learn this stuff ? I mean at the rate im going with this guess work its going to be years before i manage to cook sense. With the right info eventually i will learn this stuff just like i do everything and i never give up .

5. Plug-In Windows phone to a computer via a USB cable.
6. Zune software will start automatically and the portable device the phone will also appear in Windows Explorer, expandable, to show all media folders, such as albums, artists, Music, Pictures and Video. 3. Click Edit -> Find or press Ctrl-F to call the Find command to searchZuneDriver .
USB list, multiple entries associated with the sub-key, will be one(or more if you have more than one phone Windows 7) registry subkey that key Register ZuneDriver.
4. In the right pane, edit the following registry value:
Amend ShowInShell 0 to 1
Amend PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell 1 to 0
Amend EnableLegacySupport 0 to 1
5. Plug-In Windows phone to a computer via a USB cable.
6. Zune software will start automatically and the portable device the phone will also appear in Windows Explorer, expandable, to show all media folders, such as albums, artists, Music, Pictures and Video. Close the Zune software that allows access to read and write to an external phone folders using Windows Explorer.
