Ok Guys, gonna test all you senior moderators / users here and put you to challenge to see if you can help me get my wizard G4 back up and running.
For the past couple of days Ive been faffng about the forums looking for a way to change my g4 WM5 to WM6, after digging in i realised i had to install vmware and put xp on it, so far so good.
After that ive tried every rom (with all their own prepackaged files) and got nowhere, every time i managed to get one that would even get to a percentage bar screen it would go to 100%, restart and nothing changed. I even tried the all new soft spl way but got some error msg saying a .exe was missing.
tonight, i managed to get a ´302´ error and its now stuck on the bootloader screen, my question is:
how can i ´flash´back to normal state from here , doesnt the pda have to be synced in order to flash it again
I hang my head in shame, i managed to mess it up real this time..
My pda rests in your hand gents. id appreciate the help

seems like ur on G4 CID LOCKED and u try to flash with RUU "NO WAY BRO "
flash ur official rom 1st using RUU while on bootloader then flash any G4 safe rom using :

with soft spl:
when i ran START-sSPL.exe it opens up in cmd and the progress at the bottom doesnt go anywhere but 0.
and shell tools managed to get al the way untill you press OK, when decides to crach..every time.
again, i thought in order to flash these devices to have to have an active sync. but you cant sync things when its showing the red-green-blue bootloader screen...or am i missing something.
more tips are VERY welcome, thanks lads.
PS sorry for being such a noob, pdas are a new thing to me Ñ= and this ones only 2 weeks old for me
shelltool doesn`t crash it hangs only just wait for 30-40 min and unplug ur device and hard reset it will work
aslo on the bottom of bootloader screen u will find USB that means that its connected and it can sync
ill try it.

u can`t flash with shelltool on bootloader mode but u can flash ur official rom using RUU on bootloader
ok here is what u need to do
1- flash ur official rom or "wizard love rom " using RUU in bootloader mode "RUU works under XP only "
2-after flashing ur stock rom flash and u got up and running OS flash using shelltool "works fine under vista "
uhh..
i downloaded the wizard_love rom, it got to 99% then i got the same 302 error message, theres asmallrecovery process you can go though if this is the case. i followed that and the power went off...hopefully its just the battery...
8125 G4 softspl + flash success!
I just went through the same situation with my phone:
Cingular 8125 G4
IPL: 2.25.0001
SPL: 2.25.0001
GSM: 2.25.11
After a failed unlock attempt/flash, I flashed back using the WizardLove rom to get it functioning, then I used the SoftSPL flash to then allow me to upgrade to Octaivoi 5.0 rom.
Octaivoi's 5.0 *running 12+ hours flawless*

hey guys thanks for all the help so far.
recently ive been stuck trying to flash the wizard love rom onto my G4, but today i finally cracked it. For some random reason, the phone didnt like the original wizard love rom described in vippies tutorial ( which i looked at , at the very start, a kick ass tutorial bth), i even went out and bought a new usb cable just incase it on the off chance it was that, nope. I kept getting 2 different error messages do to with the connection. 630 i believe was one of them (which is just a general connection error msg).
but today, after searching for a while i found a customised wizard love rom on a bittorrent site that worked like a charm. so im alln gear´d up with a working pda again ! woohoo
So im back to phase one....phasetwo...get wm6 on it or probably break it again for another 3 weeks in the process.

Nah, i took your adivce and tried to flash that octavia rom onto it...
back to the good old red green and blue screen except this time it doesnt display RUU at the top right hand side anymore...im pretty sure thats a bad thing?

lots of tinkering over the last few days has proven successful.
ive went from having a non working 9100, and trying hard to find a base rom that would flash properly to:
Finding a wizard_love rom and installing it
managing to use soft spl (which god knows why decided to work after the gizillionth time) and flashing a very respectable wm6 rom to it ( Octaivo, thanks for the tip johngalt82)
And..AND!! even getting the HTC_Touch_ Home_Plugin displaying wonderfully
happy as a pig in ****.

Can anyone please post a guide on how to flash Hard-SPL onto my HTC TYTN.
The guide for installing Hard-SPL onto the HERMES is not available anymore, and i am EXTREMELY confused about what im doing, and i am afraid i will brick my phone if i do something wrong.

Read the sticky, first post on this page.
It really isn't hard to do. But be sure you know what you are doing btw. SO read the sticky!
Basically you just download the flavor of Hard SPL you want (I used 2.10 which I can recommend, very easy to downgrade to factory SPL again as I just learned!).
After download unzip the folder and run the RUUWrapper. Follow instructions exactly, do nout unplug your device etc. and it should work like a charm. It takes about 1 minute!
If you don't know what you are doing or you are still doubting, wait for Mr Vanx site to come online again or don't flash. There is always a risk you screw up and end with a $500 brick.
So use at your own risk!

hi guys have tried to update mine today on a jasjam it connects sys it updating but starts at 0% then just jumps to 100% and says flash finished but when i restart the phone it still has the same loader what am i doing wrong i want to update it from windows 5 to windows 6 using crc-9 but don't want to update till i do the loader any help from you guys would be great

start the device in bootloader, what is displayed?
Mine is doing the exact same thing. Starts at 0% and jumps to 100% and says it is done, but it has done nothing.

the SPL flash is VERY quick.
I'll ask YOU this aswell, put your device into bootloader mode and tell us what it says.

thanks for your reply after checking the bootloader it has changed to 2.10 olie it did it so fast i thought it had failed will check properly next time and have successfully flashed it to crc 9 and it runs great thanks for all the help

I appreciate your reply Mr. Vanx. Same as with puca, I put my phone into the bootloader mode and it does indeed show the correct 2.10 Olipro version. This is the 3rd 8525 I have had and I could have SWORN it took much longer on the first 2. Even the update from WM5 to WM6 seemed to take much less time with this particular phone. Guess I shouldn't really complain
Downgrade Error 260
Hi Mr Vanx I have followed your guide to downgrade my current SSPL (2.10 Olipro) to SSPL (1.11). But I keep getting error 260. I have followed guide step by step.
I have even tried flashing from SD-Card (by renaming to HERMING.nbh). Process runs successfully, but nothing happens.
Its still showing SSPL-2.10 Olipro in bootloader. Am I missing anything?

can some one point me to the guide. I am facing a NO GSM problem on vodafone VPA 1605 with following config:
ROM Version: 1.20.161.6
Radio: 1.03.06.00
CID: VODAP001
Bootloader: 1.04
I do not see the radio version or the IMEI. So I would like to do a HARDSPLv7 followed by Radio ROM update to 1.06.00.10. I hope this will work. Seniors may help with their sggestion.

I have an I-mate 9502 but my problem is for pocket pc generaly.
I installed a program for sound, When I do a soft reset it hangs on Blue Imate page and didn't boot.
I tried to hard reset but it dosen't worked too(I know hard reset of it, is Green+FN+Power button) but it don't work, Also I tried to install a fresh Rom but it need to loud windows.
Please help how to hard reset it.

After Flashed with the new ROM, My Device is now stuck in iMate Blue Screen Logo....!!!
But Don't worry Guys...it can be solved with manually hard Reset...
1. Remove battery and reinsert (to make sure the phone is off).
2. Hold down Fn and the Green button (with the phone icon on it) and press the power button.
3. You will see the white hard reset option screen almost immediately. Press the Left Soft Key to hard reset.

I will start with my story: I have a qtek S200 and i have make a mistake i think? a friend off my set that i cane use every rom for your phone. So i have putt this a Vincent rom on it. (that's the only thing i know)
Now i want a new rom but, every Rom for a Prophet that i tray on my S200 stops by the Red/Green/Blue screen.
Can some wane help me to get a working Rom for me or a fix for this problem.

the problem. You haven't HARDSPL your Device.
Now, go to bootloader mode and flash PDAVIETTemp ,which can be found here.
PDAVIET TEMP
and HARDSPL your Device.
once you HARDSPL your device. SPL information should be 2.G4.4PDA for PPC G4 or 2.G3.4PDA for PPC G3.
Read WIKI. What is SPL. And how to go to bootloader mode.

3. Flash NVID for Prophet
4. after restart and activesync,
5. use my Lazy_tool to flash any rom you like....

To hardspl your device. Read here.
You can HARDSPL your device. Or use lazytool from youzi. Posted from dioxda2.
Lazytool is using softspl.

from the wiki, there is a sentence missing after "To enter bootloader, you need to hold the comm manager button and soft reset."
that is " then release the stylus and keep pressing the comm. button until you see the bootloader screen"

Don't worry, both way can do.
1. Flash with the tool included in your favorite rom package.
2. or change the nk.nbf in the Lazy_Tool will do ,too.

I am a noob in this area. I am reading the forum for the last days and trying to upgrade my i-mate jamin G3 but i always get stuck...
I started this thread as it involves more than one thread I read, namely
- Windows Mobile 6 Directory For Dummies
- New WM6 Upgrade Guide
- HardSPL guide and files
- Prophet Tools Light: Just the flash! & Prophet Tools: Simplify Flashing--V2.8.3 now up!
- Current upgrade guide for the most ROMs
- LAZYTOOL For all nk.nbf FLASHING + 3 color bootup SOLUTION + (PLEASE READ.........)
- WM 6.5 build 21501 Titanium [ Fixed ] & Fixed CommManager, and other ROMs I tryed...
- ...
so here it goes:
#1# I tryed to run HardSPL an I got an error message like this:
'One or more CON code pages invalid for your given keyboard'
so i guess i didn't work...
#2# then I tryed with ProphetTools and after doing the HardSPL it asks (in jamin) to run JumpSPL I click on yes and then I get white screen (in jamin) I click the flash rom and then I get either:
- error 260 or 274 - connection - this sometimes is worked around and got to 208
or/then
- error 208 - file open (and I did put the nk.nbf rom file in ...\Tools (as said on PTL) and also tryed in ...\Utils\Flash)
#3# While in white screen (achieved with PTL) I also tryed ROM 21501 (with its own RUU) and I get 3 colour screen after supposedly successful upgrade...
#4# also tryed lazyTool but got the same 3 colour screen
#5# With the no vendor NVID_RUU (got from lazy tool thread) I got it back to WM5 and working, pitfully i forgot to dump my original rom so now i am stuck in WM5 in English (i at least had it in Portuguese - my native L)...

... actually my prophet (jamin) works fine after I flashed the NVID, the problem is that I can't put it to work with any other ROM...
So any of senior experts plz advice
hopefully i am missing some supidly simple solution

My SPL only shows:

im a total noob here too but i never encountered the same prob as you have.. i see SPL 2.20 right... so if you want to flash a ROM from here its required that you do HardSPL. i have a G3 device too. you might want to try this... i will try to help as much as i can...
make sure your USB cable/cradle is working perfectly and try to attached it at the back of your PC CPU...
and btw are you using XP or VISTA? coz i use XP...
just RUN HardSPL and let it do its thing... when its done check your SPL again..

I just got another USB cable borrowed and tried the HardSPL you uploaded and it Worked
Actually It gave me the same error message about 'One or more CON code pages invalid for your given keyboard' but this time I didn't got the 3colour screen at the end, instead it restarted normally with SPL 2.G3
I am just waiting battery charge reaches 50% to try flashing it

If format fails it is hopeless.
If format goes well and works take the original Aku3 ROM and flash it. The device will work again.

I have a problem with my Charmer - I was flashing it, when I didn't read any instructions and I failed it. Some month ago I came back to Charmer and I repaired it with the "Rescue Kit" and it worked some time. But now even if I flash it with any ROM, my PC write "Congratulation", Charmer turns on but stuck in the splash screen and It's all... when I go to bootloader, it goes and write the IPL and SPL, but when I do Hard reser, it writes "Formad failed", but It can be flash!!! With any ROMs... Please, help me, I like this phone...

As you can see mostly it is hopeless.Rarely rehotting DOC chip can help and I read somewhere that sometimes flashing helped,but that was a desperated try with Prophet ROM or something like that.If I was you I could try to flash it with Goldcard (just from curiousity and nothing to lose),but if ChrBeck can't help then who?

Yes that mith with the Prophet flashing is true. But for that we need a working Aku1 ROM to get the IPL down.
Then the Prophet thing works. That is what I found out.
The heating up thing is a mith. It helped only 1 time and is not the best you can do.
And Goldcard is the biggest SH*T I ever heared.
For devices without reachable OEMSPL something like a Goldcard doesn't exist. Goldcard just flashs with SuperCID and without Signature checking. It is like using a HardSPL and won't help.
That is all I know.
Get a good working AKU1 and I'll build you the solution (if my idea is realy right).

Just a few things:
I'm in searching for an AKU1 ROM.I had it on my computer years ago,but it lost when my HDD damaged.If I find it,I will upload it for you.
The heating up:in this case probably it doesn't help.When we have a device that can't be flashed properly,we try this and it helps more often than you think.Not only with PDAs,but with phones too.
Goldcard SH¤T:
I know what is Goldcard about.
The reason I mentioned it,it helped me 3-4 times when the device (not only Charmer,other devices too) stuck on bootloader or splash screen after flashing.I didn't have too much time in the workshop,so I tried this and worked.
I don't want to argue with you,I know you are an expert in this,I just tried to help with my experiencies.

OK nice that you found the ROM. Maybe we'll have a new test package for the fix of format failed error soon then.
And yes you are right sometimes Goldcard helps if you have forgotten to flash HardSPL or it is damaged then it may help but you need to have acces to OEMSPL and we don't have it.
So hope I can do something soon.

I have a Charmer with IPL,SPL 3.08.Unfortunately it is CID locked,so I can flash it with official v3 ROMs only.Is there any solution to downgrade it?Or with JTAG only?

I tried that,but:
1.flashing is successful,but nothing has changed,I get the old OS after upgrade
2.I tried the v1 ROM I found.The IPL has been changed to 1.12,but the SPL remained 3.08.The OS has been changed in this case,so it worked flawlessly.
The CID unlocking methods didn't work (obvious,SPL was 3.08).
After that I tried to upgrade it,but it was a torture.I got errors and errors,but after an hour finally I could upgrade it successfully.
So,if you have an idea,I have a device to test it.

The IPL is down means it worked. After that you can flash a Prophet ROM.
What ROM of Prophet?
High, I was today flashing my Charmer with all original ROM I mean and the flashing process behaves OK, after flashing, it writes "Congratulation" and all the things like OS, Radio, IPL... are change to the definite ROM. But it's all. It will stuck in the splash screen... I have read in this thread something about Prophet ROM. What is it?
The prohpet ROM is an official Prophet AKU 2 flashable after downgrade.
System is as follows:
Fist flash the Charmer AKU1
Then flash a Prophet AKU2
Then flash Charmer Aku3.
You need to do all these steps with the NOID RUU.
That should fix the HardReset failing.
I'm working to get a tool running that does the whole thing automatically.

How have you gotten the SPL down?
Normally, with flashing... It can be flashed with every ROM...
OK. Cause normally SPL stays up. I never saw a full downgrade.
