Prophet S200 VERY SLOW - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Hi, I'm new here. Since I've read a lot of posts and guides I've learned alot. Sorry if my english isn't very good, spanish is my first language
I bought a Qtek s200 that couldn't boot, and thanks to the great members of this forum, now it is alive.
I flashed it first with the official qtek file.. nothing, then I used the PVtemp (that was the name i think).
The problem I have is that the device works SO SO SLOW !
with WM5 it was slow. I flashed to the WM 6.1 shadow 2.0 using dioxda2 's guide, and everything is fine, except that my device takes 15 minutes to start windows, and for example I point start and it appears almost inmediatly, but if i open something it takes between 30 seconds - 1 minute... to open for example the comm manager.
I will try to flash now to Korand's flash that the users say that it's very fast.
I don't know what to do.. Any suggestions?
I am almost sure that my Radio Rom is the 2.47
Thanks in advance !
update: I changed the PP to 6 mb and it works a LITTLE BIT faster, let's say that it took him 8 minutes instead of ten :S what can i do :S
update 2: can the SD slower it down so much? I took it out and it works faster.. let's say that now it's a little bit slow, so it's almost like it is normal... is the card the problem?

Well... know that Audiomanager sucks for boot time, as it puts all it's files in /windows. Try one of the "clean" roms, and don't install much. Also, use quickmenu or x-button to kill programs, freeing up ram. Occational hibernates also work. Other than that, I don't know.

i shutted down some tasks and it works perfect now.. WITHOUT the SD.
now i'm trying with a 16 mb SD card from a cannon camera, the original cannon card, but it seems to be slow again :S
EDIT: it boots up slow but it works fine. The 1 gb card is a kingston...
do I have to format the SD cards in some special way? do I need some special SD card ( I mean because of the read write timings)

haveing same phone but no problem...!
try to use this one it should work like charm.
WM6.1 Korand WWE 3.1 (based on official rom)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366313
hope this might help u out.
it should actually.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
You can also try to use a softweare called Batery Status, it can overclock your prophet so it can be faster.
I use it in mine and really speeds up a bit.You can find it here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751

I tried the Korand flash With Out the SD card and it runs SO GOOD but if I put that 1 Gb SD card the system is slow (not so slow as before, but slow), I will buy a new card today.
The problem that I've with Korand's flash is that when ]I try to see the battery status, it says unknown... and the icon is like it's always charging.. so any idea on how can I solve that?
thanks !

Since both memory cards you have tried slow it down, it might be a problem with your device, although given how tough they are, I doubt that. Try a new memory card and see if that helps, and maybe try a WM5 ROM with a different memory card to see if it still happens.

Ok, I tried with another card and it works VERY NICE so I will buy some faster card.
Now I am having a BIGGER PROBLEM.
As I couldn't saw the battery status, the battery is dead now, the phone turned itself off suddenly and I tried to turn it on, the screen went on and then it was off again so I supose that the problem is the battery. The problem is that it is not charging the battery, or I think so. Is there any way to see if the battery is being charged?
If i plug it to the USB while it's off, the battery is being charged?
Thanks !

Does the LED show anything when you plug it in?

no, there is no led on.
I took out the battery upper case, so I have the lithium pack and everything in it's place, and in the phone, with the carger, and the lithium pack is getting a little bit hot. I measured the voltage of the battery, and while it's charging it's like 3.65, so I am letting it charge to see, but there is NO LED on :S
any ideas?

Umm... I think you may need to "reset" the battery. I found a discussion on doing that sometime ago, but don't have the link to hand. Try a search for battery reset or something like that, and I'll see if I can find a link for you.

Hey there
First of all, thanks for your help, I know that in the forums we try to help each other, but really, thank u for all.
Now my device is alive again after half an hour charging, it's on.
What's the problem then? There is not any led ON while the charger is in there, and also, I still can't see the battery status on the windows mobile. Now i'll try to install the battery status cab that you told me (I thought that i needed to justo run it to install, but it seems to be in a different way. I'll search now).
I searched for battery reset, I found it for another model, they were talking about some button, like the soft reset one, but i can't fin anything similar in my device.

I've installed the Battery Status package, and it shows now like it's plugged an it says -1 %
the rest of the phone is working VERY GOOD

welcome gdline,
your device, it's a new or a second hand prophet?
perhaps your problems are related about this issue, it's unusual no led when you're charging your s200, where did you buy it?
PD spanish is my first language too, and your english is so good to understand you very well

actually I bought it second hand, I couldn't afford a new one.

gdlin said:

I think that's the reason of your problem but, if the device is working right about wifi, bluetooth and all of things you would want, it's a good choice
saludos

It works great.
How much days can the phone survive without charging?

Depends on the ROM, and on the usage. Light usage with a clean ROM can get 2/3 days usage. Heavy use with a ROM packed with programs and you'll be lucky to get one days usage.

so it seems that the solution is to charge it every day or one day charge it and the next day don't :S
I still don't understand why couldn't I change the radio rom :S
thanks

I charge mine almost every day because I don't like the risk that I might run out of battery! I also use it quite a lot for music...

[Q] ''Tap here to launch HTC Sense''. Sense will not load!

Hi all,
As the title says, I can't get Sense to load. Any help/advice, preferably me not having to HR, would be much appreciated.
Here's a bit of background info: Yesterday afternoon I noticed my phone was running very low on battery power, I think it was down to 3%, fortunately I was at home so it wasn't a problem.
I plugged the phone into the wall charger and left it. About 4 hours later I went to unplug the phone expecting to find a fully charged up battery. However, the phone was turned off, I very rarely turn my phone off. Puzzlement followed for a second or two until I realised I hadn't switched the plug switch on. What a dummy!!!
Therefore, the phone had powered down through having no battery power. Sense has not loaded since. Would this cause Sense not to load??
I've had a prior problem with Sense not loading and I did a Hard Reset, I couldn't see what else I could do.
But I'm hoping someone quite a lot more knowledgeable than myself maybe knows a way round this without resorting to a HR.
Thanks for any help.
Anyone please?
If you still have the origional ROM running i would say bring it back to the shop from which you got it from and let them repair it
Otherwise i would say try to install HSPL and push another ROM to your phone so that will repair the fault. Installing ROMS wont take to long

Thx for the reply.
Yes I'm still running original ROM although I updated the original 1.43 ROM to 1.72 via the HTC website. I don't yet feel brave enough to flash a custom ROM. Although this might be the right time to do it now. However, if there is anyone who may know a workaround for this without having to flash a custom ROM or hard reset, I would be very grateful.
Thx.
This is not a useful post but i had the same on mine, and had the same update line as you. Out of interest were you running GTX when the freeze happened?
Both times i had to done to me was on the GTX theme, atm not running it due to the effort of reinstalling everything after a HR, i feel your pain!

No GTX theme on my phone and the phone didn't actually freeze. As mentioned in my original post, the problem has come about. I think, due to the phone powering off through lack of battery power. This was due to me not switching the plug switch on after having put the phone on charge.
Thx for the suggestion anyway.

That happened to me couple days ago. Tried everything but nothing helped. Had to hard reset in the end.

[Q] Random Reboots?

Have you guys ever experienced your x10 randomly restarting itself? Sometimes when I'm talking on the phone or just have my phone lying on my bed, it just restarts itself. I doesn't bother me too much since it isn't that frequent, but it pisses me off when it does restarts while I am on the phone...
Does anyone know why it does this and how it can be prevented?
Hi shukla,
I've got exactly the same problem! Which firmware is on your phone? I've got the 026 on my X10i. I think it's the firmware or the new root method?!
If I'll find some time this week I would like to try some things out...Some other experienced that problems, too?
Regards,
Martin
I've had random reboots as well running 26 firmware (using the 3 step root method) thankfully never during a call last time was while in Toronto this past Saturday taking pictures with Vignette.
I'm on 024 (rooted).
I think I was wrong with my thoughts. Today I've read a lot about our problem with rebooting. Seems it is the Sony backup application. It is randomly accessing the SIM card and thats the reason why our phones crashes. Right now I am going to flash my phone again. I'll tell you some more details after flashing is done.
Ok, well it's not easy to fix that problem. Yesterday I flashed my X10 about 6 times. With original SEUS firmware and the problem still appears. Then I flashed with 026 debranded firmware. After that I rooted my phone with the doshaska.net method. After that I removed the restore/backup app from /system/app. The problem still appears till now - but not so often. In fact, I had reboots every minute, so my phone didn't came up. I really don't have a clue why it happen. Someone else got an idea?
Regards ,
Martin
The only way I could stop mine from rebooting was to remove SetCPU. Are you using it? If so, feeze it or remove it and see how it goes. I do have another problem now with the damn screen not sleeping unless i push the power button! Oh well, the joy of fiddling
Nothing out of the usual battery dain yet. I am running the branded Dutch t- mobile firmware. I'm going to root it soon.

finally i removed my memory card and everything was fine
some things on memory card could cause reboot during calls or randomly, next time try formatting your memory card
hope it help someone
cheers!
luv my x10 though i ve also got iphone but i ve never looked back
Just curious, how hot is everyone's phone when it reboots? I've noticed my x10 doing the same when its running a little warm. It usually starts acting up when it's over 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Gitin thx..it looks much better now, however yeasterday I was carrying my x10(still with no memory card in it) in the pocket, it got pretty hot (most probably over 38 degrees) and it turned into this rebooting "mode"..finally I left battery for 20 minutes in cold place..x10 got back to normal..I think that random reboots are the matter of memory card issue (You have solved this problem) or/and overheating of battery - still couldnt find any clue how to ease this pain but read somewhere that Froyo for x10 will have this problem taken care of..
i think ( depends on my experiences) the telephone need to reboot coz one applications from SD card want to launch (send or receive) some commands from or to internal (built in memory).
that's means this applications needs to move temporary to internal memory just to execute this command so absolutely android system will restart to create virtual memory to this application to let it runs correctly
first it's better to remove backup/restore programs or make its runs manually, if you have another software need to save data to SD memory ,remove it.
it's better to launch applications directly from internal memory to win the time and performance but At the expense of the memory size
ps: all that explanations depend on the framework version.
sorry for complex explain but i don't have easy way to explain this problems
i suddenly have it now to, first every hour, now every 5 minutes, my phone won't start up anymore
sorry..bad news..its pretty cold here in Poland so battery shouldnt turn to hot that easily but apparently the problem is more serious..I have to admit that random reboots occur less frequently than before but that **** still hapens to my x10..after no more than 2 days I had gotten memory card removed it got back to malfunctioning again..
it really pisses me off that I cant enjoy this phone anymore..
android 2.1 or higher is my only hope..
if anybody solved that issue entirely..please, dont be shy, do not hesitate..help us, please!

i too am hanging on for the 2.1 update to hope it solves the problem. I've a feeling there's going to be a lot of x10s going into SE for a service though when it is released and doesn't solve the problem!
I'm not 100% but is this problem the entire phone powering down, or just the connection to your network, mine just loses its network connection and then connects again, over and over ........
there's nothing 2.1 update will do
as our phone was working fine when v bought it, its completely a hardware fault
ok do this...
1.take out sim
2.format ur memory card
3.repair through SEUS or root process watever..
4.turn on ur x10 without sim and leaving formatted card inside
it will still give u hard time u can try putting some video on ur memory card and try to play it few times, ur x10 will turn off and wont turn on until u take out battery for few seconds or take ur x10 in front of Air-Conditioner
as someone suggested in rooting thread to keep ur x10 in front of air-conditioner if u get errors while rooting or if rooting process stucks in middle
the same thing applies in our case...try using ur phone in front of A-Con it wont turn off
i tried with a new battery ...still the same
as i ve been repairing mobile phone from last 5 years, i opened my x10, took out the motherboard, took out all plates over IC's, cpu and cleaned it with acetone properly and heated cpu and whole board with Hot Air Gun...everybody who repairs mobile phones knows what i am talking about
still its the same....
still i am not saying i know everything, anybody knows what the problem is and suggest the overcome is most welcome
nxt few months gonna b really cold at my place...i definitely think i'll notice a difference as its really hot these days which is causing my x10 to die
I did experience this when I debranded my AT&T X10. I have since gone back to the AT&T ROM and have not had this issue since. My battery life has also improved. I did root and remove all the AT&T bloatware. I also edited settings.db to allow for installing non-market apps. This phone is very fast and smooth now with almost no glitches at all.
mine won't even work anymore..once per every 20 or 30 times and than it turns off itself very quick..I can't recharge battery, nothing..really hope that 2.1 will help somehow..I am thinking of getting back to very first soft that x10 was launched with..seriously I am sickin tired with that ****..

Hi, I have an AT&T X10 and wonder what you debranded your phone to? I debranded mine about a week after I got it to R2BA026 Latin America and never had any issue with rebooting.
Aside from needing to power off the phone to check for software updates (two weeks ago of course ) my phone has been up for +358 hours without an issue, and that's with installing the AmbientTime home screen several days ago.

[Q] HD2 turns off automatically!!!!!????

HELP!!!!!! My HD2 turns itself off automatically after about 15-30 minutes of running Android OS. I have HD2Froyo_V2.1.7z. Also installed HSPL3_PKG from XDA and Kumar's TMOUS C5 Premium V2.6. I solved my robot voice and no sound problem. Only thing left is getting it to actually stay on while running in Android. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi I have a similar problem. It happens only when I have the phone in my pocket.
My theory is that I press the shutdown button when held in the pocket and thereby turns off the phone. The best thing would have been if the feature was removed when it is in the locked position ... Do you think we have the same problem?
I'm running Duttys rom (v8) and radio 2.10.50.28_2 (HSPL 1.66)
No clue....?????
I am very new to the whole "hacking my phone" scene, if you will... I was pleased with myself for actually getting it to boot and run for a decent amount of time. My phone will just cut off (when im running Android OS), when it's in my hand, when im playing a game, when im doing just about anything in Android. It works perfectly fine in Windows, no probs what-so-ever. I had an issue with connecting to T-Mobile's 3G network, but i think i resolved that. For the most part everything works great, only prob is that the phone just resets on its own. Still very confused as to why..... HELP!!!!!!
I'm no expert on this either. Your problem sounded exactly like mine, just had to ask if it could be so in your case also.
You know what they're asking for technical support? Is the power cable in? Hehe, sometimes it can be very simple things that are wrong.
One thing that struck me was that perhaps you should look over the radio version. There are a few threads on XDA about different radio versions work with android.
Consider what I wrote at the beginning, I'm no expert
Alright. do this and it will work.
1. format your card with your phone to fat32. you need to do this. (yes again)
2. HPSL3 your phone, it seems that once you do it you wont have to do it again but this are the exact steps I did before getting the hd2 android for more than 72 hrs using 99% of the phone. (remember it is always better to have stock android)
3. I am using Chucky ROM but is HORRIBLE ugly and nasty. ROM your phone to Chucky rom or Miri Rom.
4. get Matt C Froyo version of android.
Install it. reboot. tap on CLRAD and then HRET and it will work.
I have an auto loader now it seems they all work but some are nicer. oh by the way you will use your SD card as it was th phones memory with this build, meaning the Windows version of the HD2 is safe for when Windows 7 gets a release and you decide to send to hell android as I will.
I was wondering if anyone found a solution yet for disabling all buttons except the unlock button.. this is the reason why I have been calling ppl without actually noticing I pressed keys while my phone was in my pocket. also it has shutdown few times. sucks because I miss calls that way.

I would really like to have a solution to this also. The problem is that you get an option to switch to airplane mode or turn off the phone when you long press endbutton. Even if it is locked. I want to see that when you are only in unlocked mode, the shutdown menu shows. I really hope someone fixes this.
thanks for your help, i tried doing this but that didnt help, i flashed my rom with the energy rom and the lastest mdeejay froyo 3.4. Is there a way i can fix the phone shutting down itself? to turn it back on, i have to take the batter out and turn it back on all the time.
any help pls?
Hi, i seem to have the same problem, android works perfectly when all of a sudden with no reason my phone reboots to winmo. And it has nothing to do with pressing buttons. I have it on a desk and it shuts down. I have noticed that it varies from build to build. Mmce v2.0 would cut down every few seconds. Mdeejay's builds were the most stable, but had no camera. The one I'm using right now "bangster's 1.5" with camera shuts down 1-2 times per day. I can live with that for now. PS: I would like however to thank all the developers for their hard work.

Have you tried running a non-undervolted kernel? Both Hastarin and Michyprima offer non-undervolted alternatives.

hd2 turns off I have a solution
first off this isnt a software issue at all. with much time devoted to figuring out the problem with my hd2, it randomly shuts off whenever it wants...well its simply a hardware issue. but nothing to has to do with overheating or anything like that. the battery pins are very flimsy and loose connection to the battery itself very easily. use a piece of paper and make sure its the length of the battery. and fold the paper to create a wedge in the top of the phone and the battery. place the paper wedge halfway in front of the battery as you are putting it in the phone and then gently force the battery into to place. this will create a secure connection between the battery and the pins. i promise it'll work...its just to keep the battery from bouncing and loosing connection.
its just a poorly designed battery casing not being snug enough to hold a connection with the battery. let me know if you are confused on how to do it or anything.
I'm having similar issues and I'm almost sure it's overheating.
Install Hastarin's 7.7alt version kernel which isn't overclocked on startup. This will make your phone a lot cooler after booting. Then install SetCPU and current Widget.
run SetCPU and set a profile to clock down the CPU (245-400mhz) when the Temp is above 98 degrees and to give you an Audible beep
run Current widget and pay attention to the temp. then run something like angry birds that will heat up your phone.
If it crashes at a certain heat, set SetCPU lower.
Another method to diagnose is to run Angry Birds like normal and see how long you can play before it crashes, then put some ice cubes in a double plastic bag and hold it against the lower back of the phone while you play again (after reboot of course). See if you can play longer.
I'm trying to figure out if the HD2 is still under warranty because this is a huge hassle.
EDIT: Just got off the phone with HTC TmoUS repair division and the phone is still under warranty and will be repaired at no cost except one way shipping. I'm going to stress test it in WinMo to make sure they will be able to replicate the problem and I'll ship it tomorrow. I just need to find something that's as CPU intensive as Android.
Does anybody have a solution to this? None of these answers work.
Automatically reboots
I have similar problems with my T-Mobile HD2; it was fine when I first got it (I lined up before the store opened on the day it came out) and am not running Android. It will periodically turn off and go back on again for no reason. I read somewhere that old SIM cards could be a problem and was wondering whether this was the issue as my SIM is more than 10 years old.

HELP!!! TG01 goes into super S-L-O-W mode

Recently my phone started occasionally going into a slow-as-molasses mode where even the simplest task takes 20-30 secs to complete. Of course this makes the phone completely unusable. If I'm on a call and it happens it just turns itself off mid-call or sometimes automatically reboots but the reboot takes forever and the problem is still there. I end up having to take the battery out for a few seconds then it will work normally until the next episode. I have the CPU set to the max speed so normally it's fine. Also, I have a triple battery set-up so there is usually plenty of juice left when this happens. I have no idea what is triggering this and luckily it only happens occasionally. I'm using fxdjacentyfxd's excellent 6.5 ROM and having no other problems. If anyone has a solution or workaround or has experienced this please advise.
Thanks & Merry Christmas!
If the phone is getting hot I have bad news for you. It might be procesor. The one we have is in HD2 and xperia x10 if i remmeber well. The HD2 and same xperia x10 had a big problem overheating and rebooting whille talking , sms-ing, music listening, multitasking... I hope that isn't case for you. Haven't heard yet that someone had broken CPU around here on tg01. P.S. flash new ROM
I have this problem myself with my TG. The only solution it was Miro8 rom in my case. It is because your carrier.

The phone is not getting hot. Removing the battery then reinstalling it always fixes the problem (so far). I may have to do a hard (master) reset if the problem persists as I realize that one of the problems with Windows Mobile is it is prone to occasionally getting corrupted, at least in my experience with custom WM 6.0 ROM on my HTC 8525 over three years.

yeah, its a WinMo issue

In my case the carrier has two separate network (one for 2G and one for 3G), but it is certain that if i use the phone under that carrier it works as you described!
I put another sim (from another carrier) and the phone work great! So i identify the problem as beeing created by the carrier network or phone radio!
But i tried diferent radio and the result was that no mather the radio version I use the phone get slow in Cosmote network (the carrier I speak of).
Hi, I had exactly the same problem about one year ago.
Used to work the 'hard reset' stuff but in a days it slows down again and again.
I checked my SD card on the PC and looked like it was working fine, but it really wasn't. I had the final clue by using by a few days the phone without the SD... It worked just fine without sd.
So I decided to buy a ultra cool (an expensive BTW) SDHC class 10 and every problem with TG01 was solved!
Well, not every problem... Still having a little one with the GPS signal and the 3G data but it's not about the same thing.. but i'll still reading post here. Just forgot about this problem cause I was using some cooked roms from this place, but I had to return to the Movistar ES original in order to unlock the phone and now... you know, just don't work anymore. If I can't finx this **** with the original rom I'll go back to another coocked one.
Good luck!

Greetings from Thailand, kijotex! Hadn't considered the SD card as the possible problem. Mine is a 16GB Class 6 and seems to work fine. Did you check your SD card for errors or reformat it before buying the new card? I've used the same card in my previous phone, an HTC 8525/Hermes without problems (that I know of).
Thanks for responding & Happy New Year!

So you solve the problem with S-L-O-W think?
How did you solve it?
what was wrong?
I ask you because in my case only after switching the carrier I could use the phone again!

I backed up everything on the phone late the other night and was going to hard/master reset it the next morning but got called out of town and didn't do it. I did swap out my custom triple-battery pack and went back to my original Toshiba battery for a day. Surprisingly, the phone worked normally so re-installed the triple battery pack and it has been working 'normally' since then. I have no idea why. Between the quirks in Windows Mobile and the TG01 quirks I just never know what this phone is going to do next. If/when the s-l-o-w mode problem shows up again I'll hard/reset it and post again.
Cheers...

I finally did the master-clear this week as the phone was getting completely unusable. That seems to have helped tremendously but the phone went into the SLOW mode again today and I had to reboot it 2 or 3 times before it finally was normal. I had just played the Tiger Woods golf game on it for about 30 minutes so wonder if that didn't contribute somehow. I then went into Toshiba Power settings and unchecked the Reduce CPU speed if low battery box even though immediately after playing the game the battery meter showed 70%, but we all know how buggy that is.
My phone was getting screwed up because the case (actually a thin sleeve) was too tight and it allowed buttons to get mashed while it was in my pocket. This may not have been a problem except I had the Lock function disabled. Over time that random button pushing definitely corrupted WM6.5 just like it had done to my old HTC 8525. I'm now using a 2.5" USB external hard drive case until I can find a better fitting one.
I think I finally solved the problem. [crosses fingers] The Master Clear helped with some of the problems, but didn't cure the random S-L-O-W mode. I ended up reinstalling the same ROM and so far the phone is working flawlessly. I'm guessing that WM6.5 became corrupted over time and that was the culprit. I also had the phone Lock disabled and that continually caused buttons to get accidentally pressed while bicycling and/or jogging and speed walks. I personally feel the buttons need a bit more spring tension, especially the Sleep/Lock button on the left hand side. The Lock is enabled now so hopefully that will help.

In case it may be of interest, I have been using the Capdase leather sleeve case for a long time now without any issues. Nice red microfibre lining and pull tab to extract the phone easily. This UK supplier says no longer available, but most likely there are some about if you search a bit.
Best regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Nice to 'hear' from you again and thanks for the tip. I'm using the Mugen back cover for their 2600 mAh battery, although with my custom battery pack. The phone is now about 1/2"(17mm) thick. Do you think this Capdase sleeve will fit?
I'm also glad you answered as I was about to post a new thread or PM you with a question about cooking my own phone config into a custom ROM. After just having to reinstall all of my add-ons, customized SPB GUI, etc., twice while trying to fix this problem, I'm now thinking about backing up everything with a custom ROM. That way if I have to reinstall the ROM I won't have to spend another couple of days getting the phone config back to where it was. I've perused the TG01 kitchen thread but confess I'm still confused about how to do it. And since 99.9% of my stuff is installed on the microSD card will the new custom ROM be able to access that existing data?
Finally, I have to say this phone continues to amaze me (when WM isn't acting up). I just can't see any benefit to 'upgrading' to WP7 like many have done, possibly bricking the phone in the process, or trashing the SDcard, etc. as it just doesn't seem worth it. Now I admit that the reason I bought this phone last year was to install Android, but after having a Viewsonic G-Tablet for a few months with a custom Gingerbread 2.3 ROM installed on it I just gave the tablet back (to my buddy) as it was so freakin' buggy. Bottom line is I'm not so impressed with Android at this point, especially custom ROMs. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I look forward to your sage advice.
Cheers!
Jim
Well... It appears the TG01 show is over
My TG01 has now gone into permanent S-L-O-W mode and I can't get it out of it. I've soft reset it probably 20-25 times, even yanked the battery out while it's still on hoping to shock the system. Did this many times and it didn't make any difference. I even left the battery out all night last night hoping for a miracle this morning. Of course, no change. I'm afraid to try to reinstall the ROM again as it probably couldn't complete the task before the battery runs down. As it is now I can't even make a call as it simply goes so slow it won't even connect, so if I can't find a solution soon the TG01 is going into the trash bin. During the past 3 weeks I have spent way too many hours trying to resolve this problem and have simply run out of ideas and patience. I also Googled it and a few people have had the exact same problem but no one has posted a solution.
If anyone has a tip or suggestion please advise.
tg01 getting slower
In my case the issue was fully solved by: reformatting sd card (full format) and reflashing the ROM. No freezings since I did it 2 months ago. So, I would say it's either your sd card or your ROM. A hardware failure is also possible but it worth trying before throwing your tg01 in the trash Good luck!

Hi mikiril,
Thanks for the fast response. I've tried everything including reflashing the ROM and even that only worked for a few days. I've been researching the problem again this morning and found the problem and a temporary solution. The problem is device.exe is running wide open using between 95%-100% of CPU cycles. A French TG01 website says it has something to do with clicking on the Restrict Sleep Mode button in the Toshiba Power Saving Settings menu, which I had done at some point, but later went back and unchecked it. Their 'solution' is to activate both Bluetooth and WiFi then turn them off. I confirm that does work until the next bootup or Soft Reset. Maybe there's something in the registry that can undo whatever clicking on Restrict Sleep Mode has done. At least the phone is working at normal speed again, temporarily, so I have a little bit of hope.
Thanks!

Clock & Date jumping crazy after removing the battery

Hi guys, I need your help please: I am using a HTC HD2 with WM6.5 stock ROM (RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe) and nearly everytime I disconnect the battery the clock and date are jumping to another random value, sometimes even a week or two before the current date, time as well to any possible value.
Disconnecting the battery is unavoidable since the phone is sometimes completely freezing with black screen during a call and I cannot stop it in any other way but by disconnecting the battery. This might happen even once in 3 to 5 days. Besides that horrible locking, setting again the date and time is quite unpleasant.
As experiment I have removed the sim, powwered off the phone and the date and time stayed correct even after several days.
Anybody else having the same problem with clock and date while removing the battery?
Any solution somebody can share with me, please?
Thank you!

My friend Maybe The Problem Is Related To HD2's Board Which Doesn't Have BIOS CLOCK Battery To Save Date And Time But You Can Try Android Or WPH Or Other Windows Mobile ROMs Like Energy / Artemis and etc. That May Help Avoid Freezes ...

The problem is that the internal tiny battery is dead so when you pull out the battery you reset the clock and even the date to original state. The problem with the call stuck can be solved very easily, just flash a newest Stock WM 6.5.2. But I will suggest to install Android and you will revive the HD2 and you do not believe what you can do again with you phone. Sorry to say but I can't believe you stay on WM6.5 this days, WM6.5 die long time ago.
Thank you guys for answering me.
What tiny bios battery are you talking about, this is a phone not a PC??? I've never heard on any smartphone about coin battery!!!
OK, I might be interested to try the Energy ROM, if you think that it will solve the problem, but what is exactly the element that will repair the bug that I am talking about? Which means anyway at the end of the day that this is a software (ROM) problem and not a hardware problem.
I have to stay with WM for certain compatibility issues, but I use the phone only for voice calls, SMS and mail, what else do I need a phone with small screen for? For the other things I have the Android tablet, I own also an Android new phone, so that's why I intend to keep WM6.5x on my HD2, it does the job.
And nobody answered if meeting the same problem on his WM6.5 HD2 phone. Is this a wellknown native HD2 problem?
Thanks again......
My friend, HD2 it a hell old device dinosaur with prehistoric hardware. Already the device have 5 years from the first release. All recent phones have a tiny battery inside to keep up clock and date and it's normal after all this years a kind of battery like that can die. Search before post.
Also your OS is compromise so if you format the phone and install new Rom this will fix and help the phone to work properely so you will not have freezings and yes is not hardware related. For the end is not a native problem, is random and for such a old phone is normal to have some problems.

Thank you eclyptos! I take it that the photo is of an opened HD2.
If so, the solution to my clock & date problem is to replace that battery with a new one, isn't it? That is if not hard-soldered on the board. Is this an easy to find battery? I will open my HD2 one of these days. So far for the battery.
As for the freezing, the solution is to flash again the ROM, preferable a customized ROM, right?
Thank you again!
you could first try changing radio version as 2.15.50.14 (test one from my signature) was known to cause call drops & hanging in some roms including original released nbh updates.
if radio does not resolve it then going to latest HTC rom or a good custom rom should resolve it. Energy is good, I use an older Energy build as better compatibility to software we use, CleanEX is another good custom rom worth looking at.
All links including 2 links to older solid performing energy roms & the thread main links can be found in the HD2 Wiki
As for the time issue, if not resetting completely to original date when device was new it could be a bug as a few roms had this issue (even energy custom rom does), is also possible the time battery on mainboard is dead but have 7+ year old htc devices that still work fine so would suggest checking the cell for power reading with a good multimeter. Although if you get a good solid WM rom the time issue will not be a burden as will hardly if ever need pull battery & battery pulling should be a last resort only used if pushing & holding the soft reset pin fails to restart the device.
Well

My friend ... Replacing the battery isn't an easy task you know ? It deals with the phone's sensitive motherboard ... so I don't recommend to replace it yourself ... just prevent having freezes by switching the ROM ... ( Thats the best way )

Yes, is true. You will never find the battery to replace yours, first of all, second the battery is welded to mainboard.

Below the battery cover there is a little reset button which reboots the phone. Use this instead of pulling the battery. Don't use a sharp object (damage), nor a pen or pencil (frequent use can cause build up of deposits). Pulling the battery and replacing frequently can bend the battery pins.
Hope this helps
Edit; oops, Mister B has already mentioned this, i missed it first reading.
