Once 'HardSPL',it'll remain HardSPL till you remove it yourself and revert back to official wm5.In this situation you can flash any rom to your mobile without any further procedure, just download the rom of your choice, connect your phone with pc via usb cable and run the Ruu to flash.

I see. Does re-flashing rom again and again will affect battery life? I read some threads saying that you have to flash your mobile first with the original rom to avoid problems like fast battery draining. But Im not sure about this.
Thanks for the info zabardast_1... Very helpful.

Nopes! it doesn't effect the battery life by flashing again n again, but, just make sure you have a full charged battery before every flash,so that it doesn't fail to complete the rom flash, otherwise,it'll create problems.
No,its not essential to reflash official stock rom before any rom upgrade, its only recommended as through use of previous rom and installing or deleting some applications/programs,sometimes corrupts the Extended Rom included in the Rom and it may create some problems when new Rom is flashed, and its better to have a solid clean base to flash a new rom but it very seldom does. I have never reflashed back a official rom before any upgrade ever and have never had any problems, but well, thats me! just do your own thing.

YES YES !!!
Absolutely make sure,it doesn't include any IPL/SPL in it,otherwise,it'll 'BRICK' your phone. All the latest custom build wm6 Roms are safe for G4 devices as they don't have IPL/SPL in them
Good Luck !

I am wondering, those of you with XV6800's with custom rom:
1. Is it worth updating vs. the stock rom. What are the benefits?
2. How difficult is it? I flashed my T-Mobile Wing a few times.
3. Can I find the stock rom to go back to incase I don't like the custom rom, or have to return the phone?
Thanks in advance.
Go to PPCGEEKS.COM
Try DogGuy's custom Titan ROM.

Just use the relocker and flash back to the stock rom it should also have the radio to.
Yes. I'm on the relocker. I'm at the tri-color screen and the next step would be to do the stock radio but I cannot find the exe or how to install the original rom. I am stuck on spl 1.06.
Sorry I meant the stock rom with radio.

After four 2.17 ROMs and two WM 6.1 ROMs..
I am back to stock ROM.
If I ever liked any custom ROM, it was DCD 1.6.10 (2.17) w/ 1.40 Radio.
It was clean and fast.
However.. I had a major problem with the battery draining just too fast.
With equal setup(apps & plug-ins) with stock ROM.. it may be bit slow, but the battery lasted much longer.
I do not know exactly why it drained so fast.. but I am leaning toward to the theory that if you make any tweak to make your device faster..(like shorter delay for example..) it comsumes more energy.
Well I am using dcd 2.2.6 WM6.1, and it is great. the battery life is awesome. I had to add a bunch of tweaks to the stock ROM to get about 4 days worth of usage. Before that I would only get about 1-2 days. Now with the custom rom I am at 5 days and 40% power left. And I didn't add any tweaks to it. I haven't loaded much on my phone yet, since I have been waiting to seem if a new ROM will come out that I will move too.
I don't know why other people are having issues, but for me, battery life is just awesome now.

search for 'Task 29'
Go to the ROM Section and look for a thread on flashing ROM for Noobs. Read it. If you plan to do any of the tasks, then read it again.
as said above do task29 and everything will be wiped off ur device but read carefully so u dont make any mistake....
good luck
So I have just Flashed HARDSPL, RADIO and a custom ROM.
I'm about to install Android now.
My question is, is it necessary to have a custom ROM to have Android?
Or can I have stock ROM and Android?

Yes.... and no.
Actually, "it depends" is the best answer. I use stock ROM (had to flash my Radio to higher than 2.08 obviously). I have no problems with android. A quick search around the android forums will show you that many people have problems with android unless they flash a custom ROM.
So, it depends... If you are lucky it will work fine on stock ROM. If not, you'll need to flash one of the recommended custom ones.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I guess I'll stick with the custom ROM for now then, although I do miss my stock one already lol.
Just for future references, Do I have to uninstall my custom ROM and flash Stock ROM the same way I have done Custom ROM?
I believe the process is slightly different and may involve a flash through the SD card. Although I've never really looked into it myself.
Check out THIS thread. It has some more info on how to flash back to stock. Or THIS one if you are tmous.
Thank you ever so much, I figure I will try it with stock ROM first, see if that works.
I'm guessing it doesn't matter which stock ROM I download from the none TMOUS thread link?
Actually, I remember reading somewhere that it very much matters what stock ROM you use. (I think) someone said they bricked their phone using the wrong one. However, I do read a lot of posts and I may be remembering incorrectly....
Either way, you should ask around or scan through that thread to be sure.
Right ok, Trying to find a tutorial now on how to determine which one I will need.
Thank you for your help.
I remember my stock ROM being 1.66 something.
So should I download that one?
I have Miri's ROM installed right now. I want to change over to a new ROM. Is it best (or is it a must) to first flash the stock ROM, then go to a new ROM? Or can I just go from, for example, Miri's ROM right to say Energy ROM?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Yeah, just flash the other ROM directly, without flashing the stock first.

Sir it's better to reinstall stock rom when you will install a new cooked rom after a cooked rom.
And dowing a task 29 is even better.
take fore that a look on the rom thread.
Hi there,
Today I received my Samsung Galaxy S2 and now I'm trying to find some information about custom roms for my phone. After searching through all sticky's here I cannot find any info about where to start with custom roms.
My previous phone was a HTC HD2. I've installed android onto my phone using MAGLDR and Clockworkmod, which worked great. The thing I liked the most was that in case I screwed up a installation I could alway flash the original Windows Mobile ROM back, making my phone almost stock again(still will have to remove HSPL then).
I also helped a friend install custom roms on his HTC Desire HD, but the thing I notest on that phone was that you could never go back to the original android installation. I hope this is different with my new phone.
So these are my questions:
- Where can I find some information about flashing a new ROM to my phone?
- And is there a way to revert back to the original ROM after using a custom ROM?
Grtz Willem
First read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134290
First root your device.
Then:
Flash a rom which you can find in the Development section. Every big rom has their installation procedure explained. (VillainRom, Cognition.. dunno)
----
You can just flash back the original stock rom, but there's a hidden counter that counts how many times you flashed new software. You need a little tool called a 'usb-jig' to completely undo the number the counter is on. This way you'll retain your warranty.

Nope, with Odin. You can find the Programm and the rom together with instructions on www samfirmware com
Thanks everyone, I'm downloading the original rom now, then will try my first custom rom for the SGS2 (VillainROM 3.0.0)
