Last night, as I was getting my phone loaded up with travel software for my trip to San Francisco. My phone's screen decided to do go bezerk with Vertical lines. I've seen posts on it, but people just say go buy a T6 bit and make sure the cable is tight. Has this ever worked? It almost seems more like the default video settings got hozed. I've done all manners of resets, left it off the charger. I even blindly upgraded the rom (which amazingly was successful (it's trying to make a new partnership))
Nothing appears to work. I will get the T6 bit and open it up, but only because it is now worthless and I have nothing to lose. If anyone successfully fixed this problem please reply....
Dan
I saw the same symptoms when I dropped my XDA. I googled a lot then and found that this happens also spontaneously and is possibly due to the LCD connector getting disconnected from the board.
I had it repaired by O2 without a fee (Of course I didn´t tell them I dropped it ).
Good luck
Matthias
I checked out a few other threads, on a couple forums and dont think anyone has been stupid enough to do this so far...
about 4 months ago, I was lost and my phone was dead, having bodged a car charger together I plugged it in.
The phone turned on, booted up and I got the SatNav software running, but before I could drive off it started flashing.. screen, lights, like a tiny disco....
Then it smoked, quite a lot for a second or two, by this time I'd took battery out and dis-connected the charger but it was too late, the phone was dead.
I got home, put the battery in a desktop charger til it was full and the phone has remained at it's current condition since.
So; it won't turn on, vibrate or flash any lights. The ONLY thing it does, is power up the right hand side bottom white light between the home key and back button.
I've been Ebaying since the day I killed it for a spares one, tried buying a main board but no joy anywhere without paying over £70 (and that's for a complete but knackered handset).
My dad's good with phones, his mate better also both of which said i've burnt out some chips. Some do kinda, have small 'holes' in, and I wiped a 2GB card too, wont work in anything else.
Without spending silly amounts on a new phone can I not do anything with this? Apparently everything except the main board should work (screen, digitizer etc)..
Help anyone please? -ta.
I suggest that you contact your local support team because I think this is something that needs to be examined at a repair center.

I dropped my X10a, and cracked the screen/digitizer. Is it easier to replace the whole housing or just the digitizer? Any suggestions on which company supplies OEM parts at the best prices?

hmm i don't think is my router problem as my other devices can connect to wifi. It is not a connection issue. The problem is that i cannot even turn on the wifi on my S2. it keep saying "Turning Wi-Fi on"
Wi-fi KO
Hi, im experiencing exactly the same issue. I was using RR for some time. Version 3.0.9 for the last couple of weeks and had no problem. Yesterday picked up the phone and tried to turn on wifi and the slider was kinda greyed out. Since then tried everything. Flash different kernels, whole ROMs, old, new, no difference. Whipes, restarts, leave the battery out for some time. Nothing. Tried to find answer, but also no luck. I am worried, that it is hardware. Can anyone bring some light to this issue? Thanks.
Edit: Problem found. Took the phone apart and to my surprise - the small button battery leaked and the acid f..up one resistor and its surundigs, that is responsible for wifi. So now i will try to repair it. Have resistors, but dont have enough patience..... I will share results as soon as i have them.

Wow. so it a hardware problem? Hmmm hope to hear from you soon!
So finally problem fixed. Solder-out the BAT500 which was ruined anyway a took with it the resistors. Change resistor R205 and replaced it with another one from a old PC motherboard. Couldnt find one exactly the same size, but found two aproximatelly twice the size with the right specs. The soldering was the tricky part. Fist tried it just with magnifying glass, but that was not enough. So I ask a friend for help and got a microscope. Since then the job was much easier. But still took a lot of patience. Taking the parts out was pretty easy. After that I cleaned the rest of the acid and saw the real damage done by it. Battery BAT500 leaked out pretty bad and took with resistor R205, which was completely dissolved. One connecting pin was quite OK, but the other ano was gone as well. So I cleaned out everything. Took the new resistor and tried to solder it in place. In the process I screwed-up and burnd it. Good thing I had 2 The other one was little bigger and wouldnt fit in the original place. So I solder one end to the existing connection point and the other side directly to pin on the wifi chip with the use of a very thin wire from headphone cable. Not the cleanest job ive ever done, but its working. Checked for shorts, measured the impendaces and tried it.
Im very pleased, that its working. Sofar I couldnt find replacement for BAT500, so just left it without it. Not a biggie.
It took me about 2 hours of work (with many mistakes and resistors jumping all around the table ) But finally done. Hope it stays that way for a long time.
Wifi is working like a charm and to my supprise, I think that the phone is not heating up as much as before. But if Samsung would have put better quality battery inside, this would never happend. But I guess thats on purpose, because than nobody would have to buy a new things Right? Every piece of technology nowdays have some king of component that have only one purpose - to ..... things up !!!

Hi,
Can you please help me specs of the resistor, I mean R205 is of how many ohms ?
Thanks
You need the Samsung I9100 service manual, which has been posted here before. It has full parts lists & 'tutorials' of most of the common fixes their techs do. Try a Google or XDA search (You're could wait a long time for a reply from the person whose post you're responding to given they made it 9 months ago).

I have manual but it does not specifies value of the resistor.
Attached is the screenshot of the manual, please let me know if you can make out the value of the resistor

I just fixed today my galaxy S2 I9100. It had the same issue BAT500 leaking acid. (wifi not working)
Since you ask for R205 value. I'm sorry didn’t saw your post earlier. But maybe you can measure it's value from R204, R206, R207 since in your own screenshot it seems they all have the same value.
Some people are using 20kohm smd resistor.
I'm also interested in replacing BAT500. I measured 1.2V in open circuit and 1.0V in closed circuit, with positive towards mainboard.
I will try to find a replacement battery.

I tried with AOSP 4.3.1 but still not able to start Wifi
Hi all. I know most of us if not all is experiencing this issue. Even other xperia models are experiencing this kind of problem. Since my phone is unlocked and the warranty is over, I'm trying everything that I can to solve the issue by myself. Sending your phone to a ****ing Sony Service Center is just a waste of time. The issue will only be solved temporarily. I've also read about charging phone for a long time, activating ANTZ service and cleaning it with a LCD cleaner but none of it worked. So here is the problem I have. Like most of us, the touchscreen will work properly after few seconds from the time you turn on the display. And this is not sometimes... everytime! And there is also a section on my screen that is not working even when the touchscreen is already working. So with this you will assume that my touchscreen is physically damaged somewhere. And now what happened when I'm trying to repair. Some of the things I've done is putting it on an oven cause I'm already mad with this problem but not enough to cook the touchscreen and wipe it with a wet cloth but still nothing solved it. Like some of electrical and mechanical, the problem is caused by something loose. So what I did is I tried putting pressure on the touchscreen on both sides. Done that to all corners of the touchscreen. And when I reached the bottom of the LCD, the touchscreen worked. Tried locking and unlocking several times and it is consistently working. Even the section that I mentioned before is also working so I think there is just something loose at the bottom of the lcd. But I still cannot find the exact location at the bottom. Because when I removed my fingers and tried it again, most of the time it doesn't work. At least I figure out it's somewhere at the bottom and if someone here can help in pointing out the section that is problematic, that will be very helpful. We no longer need to waste our time on the Sony f***ing center just to let them keep our phone longer than the days it will be fixed temporarily. When I have free time, I will still try to look at it again. I hope this thread become sticky because all of the neo users is experiencing this issue. Any of you knows the solution, please post it here. Forward this thread to everyone you know who is experiencing this issue so that we can combine all the solutions that we have and test all the possibilities we know. And if someone here who's expert on electronics, based on my trial and error, the issue is somewhere at the bottom edge of the lcd. I really hope we can solve this issue by ourselves. Thanks.
Any essay writing computation going on here..
Just desperate.
Hi, i accidentally dropped my phone, and the glass shattered on the top right part of the phone, now my phone randomly shut down or reboot (sometimes it takes hours, but now it reboots every 5 min approx). I don't expect to repair it, but its more for curiosity, someone has an idea of what could have possible broken?, i had disassembled it and reassembled a little, (just enough to pull the battery out). Can i disassemble the motherboard and put it back without having to reapply thermal paste?.
Anyway, i feel more and more that something is broken and not just disconnected or got loosen with the hit.
I guess im a little off topic here, with hardware problems.
Thanks in advance!
