What Version of ActiveSync do you use?
I think PPC2003 needs a Version 3.7 or above.
Greetings, Kaputter
i have 3.7.1 the new version
1- Are you using a USB hub or direct connect?
2- Do you have the latest USB drivers intalled in your machine? ( You can check through control pannel or try a "windows update".
If you tried these and they failed, go to :
http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/t-shootactivesync.htm
He has a lot of experience with Active Sync
I have a problem with synchronising with 2nd PC. I upgraded my machine with the WM2003SE ROM DCS provided. The synchronisation was fine with my PC at home, but the problem arose when I tried to synchronise the machine with my office PC.
The pop up windows says the version is incompatible. The Activesync version is 3.71 something.
Is there anyway to fix it? I did not upgrade my home PC.
Thank you.
BT activesync ? XP SP2 ?

The problem is with IR synchronisation
I don't have bluetooth in my office PC. There is pup-up window in my mobile device asking for 'update activesync of your desktop PC'
:x
try downloading the latest active sync v3.8 from microsoft
Hi,
[ first of all - Thanks BUZZZZ ]
I've installed wm2k5 on my qtec2020, it works just fine but..
i can't synchronize my pocket with PC (i've done everything as described on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20505 )
I've got AS4, win XP/SP2. tried on 2 computers.
every time i'm getting an error like on atteched screenshot..
Please help..
UPDATE: i've just discovered that i can explore my device.. but i can't synchronize :-/
Try a other download of ActiveSync, Link
This is Active Sync 4.0 Build 4343
I've got the same you've posted
It doesn't help
UPDATE: I can explore even If i choose to synchronize only notes and files it works. Only problem is with synchronization with outlook 2003.
The problem seems to be with outlook 2003 not being the default email client. Go to Outlook under Help menu choose detect and repair. Reboot once it finished and try.
Shikra: If i click on "mailto" link - outlook 2003 opens, so i think that outlook is default e-mail clinet. Detect& repair was first thing which i've made.
on AS 3.8 everything was just fine..
Active Sync 4.0
Active Sync is working fine for me now.
1. Make sure MS Outlook not running before new install
2. Turn off Windows Firewall
3. Uninstall previous Versions of Active Sync
4. Reboot PC
5. Install AS V4.0
6. Reboot PC
7. Power on XDA
8. Connect XDA to PC.....should now work
Sh*t.. Still nothing. What's going on? I have to go work.. Without my contacts??
Maybe it's outlooks fault? It is in polish.. I'm going crazy
Took me 3 installs and uninstalls before I got rid of the same error you have.
Hello
so I spent over 3 about 5hour evenings at computer with searching, reading, reinstalling and I dont know what else while trying to eliminate this 85010014 error. God bless my beatifull girlfriend sitting by me and cooking cofee, without her I would jump of my skin.
On wiki pages you can read that 85XXXX... error are comming mostly from bad version or corrupted mapi32.dll. Well I found about 3 different mapi32.dlls /windows/system32/; /program files/common files/..... etc.) in my computer with different file size but same version descriptor !!! I asked even my friends with different OS versions (W2000, WXP) and different Office version (2000,XP,2003). Everybody had the /windows/system32/mapi32.dll in version 1.0.2536.0 but everybody with different size. Note, that no one is using or ever was using alternative email client.
Finally I found out that deleting the one in /windows/system32/ directory does no harm to Outlook 2003 - interesting isnt it ? But without mapi32.dll in /windows/system32/ directory will the activesync 4 installation (build 4343) not work.
So I came back to original (maybe from OS installation comming) mapi32.dll with size 112128 bytes. But this is not the problem. Active sync 4 still produced same error.
Reflashing PPC does no progress, the problem is really on the desktop as the application says. ScanPST for outlook.pst file will not help too. "detect and repair" function of Outlook 2003 - same, no help. Even choosing to "reinstall in the same manner" from office installation CD will not help, even it takes nearly 30 minuts of hard disk tyrania. Note, that I always had the "full" install of MS Office. Of course I always first uninstall active sync, then reinstall office, then install active sync again.
BUT - as I found - "reinstalling MS OFffice" is not the same as unistalling and installing again ! this really helped to solve the problem.
So here is step by step what I did.
1. backup Outlook.pst file (if default - /documents and setting/<user>/local settings/application data/microsoft/outlook.pst)
2. complete uninstall of ActiveSync, even deleting the directory (/program files/microsoft active sync)
3. complete uninstall of MS Office 2003
4. delete profiles (control panel/inbox)
5. full install Office 2003
6. full install Active Sync 4
7. run outlook, create profile, set up email account
8. run activesync without PPC in cradle
9. delete all devices from activesync
10. run activesync on PPC
11. delete all devices on PPC activesync
12. put PPC in cradle
13. establish connection
14. synchronise
15. it works !!!
NOTE:
dont run activesync before opening MS Outlook. In my case it always corrupts Outlook profile with doubling the Outlook folders and because of that corrupting the syndronisation procedure.
good luck to you !
T.H.
While this method may work, I think you will find my method for fixing this to be A LOT easier.
It's two steps, and it requires NO un-installing/re-installing.

siGGy method
Sorry,
but "detect and repair" did not work. I even do not and never had another email client. Maybe you just did not read all of my post.
thanks for your answer
T.
I read all of it, maybe read my post a bit more throughly. See where it says, "Even if you don't it's possible the outlook install got corrupted from another application"
So maybe you didn't read all of my post too
I've fixed 7 machines using this method. Most of them (6) didn't have any other e-mail clients installed.
I did something similar to that insanity 15 step method the 1st time it happened to me 2 week ago. Then I found the "detect and repair" fixed it.
I wonder what was different on your machine.
lol, Windows admins. uninstall/re-install. I'm glad I don't work on this O/S for a living.
I hope yours stays fixed permanently, I wouldn't want you to repeat all those steps again! What a PIA.
I'm sure more people will end up finding these posts, hopefully people get their systems fixed.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!
Support code 85010014 when syncing
Success! Re-install outlook is the only option... for me anyway.
I tried repairing outlook, no difference. Tried new partnerships etc, hard reset my XDA Exec and resync, no difference. Renamed all the mapi32 files I could find and repaired outlook, no difference. Ran the scanpst util, even fixed a problem, still wouldn't sync. Created a completely new pst file and put just 1 email in it (yes it was set to be the default mail delivery folder etc), it wouldn't even sync that 1 item.
So, as per foxnolds post, uncheck outlook in the add/remove programs bit, then re-check it and reinstall outlook, success! Didn't even have to uninstall activesync 4.0 and didn't lose any of my email profiles/settings as it picked them up again after the re-install.
What a palarver.
I am running XP sp2, Office 2003 small business edition, active sync 4.0 and windows mobile 5.0 on an XDA Exec.
I can't find my original disc anywhere for my Siemens SX56. I reformatted my computer and need to re-install ActiveSync so I can sync up and install/download programs and files. Where can I get this at??? Please help!
Brock
Download Active Sync
Microsoft Website:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync38.mspx
There's also one in the FTP site (a newer version I think); I just can't open the link. 8)
Wow, I didn't think it was that easy. I guess that would have been the obvious place to start. Jeez. Thanks for the helpful reply.
