hi,
you can not shutdown this kind of device except removing batery,
if you want to off phone
goto
Start-->Settings-->Connections-->Wireless Manager
you can see all wireless connections there..
chose Phone or what you want to off.. On/Off
you can on or off here all wireless connection include Phone..
@Duwenbasden ..... takin out the battery means crashing the system... even in a normal fones like nokia1100 its nt recommended
@dtsw2002 ....keepin the button pressed doesnt do anythin bro
@fuseki ....i kno how to turnoff wireless bro.... but it'll still eat battery.... there r times when i wud want to turn the damn fone off for a day.... or say i wanna change the sim... how the hell am i supposed to change the sim without crashing the system?
wat kinda dorky device can power up but not power down????? this is so dumb

sorry, mate. That's how Pocket PCs behave. I remember my first time when I rode the airplane, and my HTC Himalaya was my first PDA Phone. I was really embarrassed, because I didn't even know how to turn off the phone then.
Now, why was it that way, because pocket PCs started with non-persistent storage memory. which means, all data will be gone when you remove the battery or drain the battery (this is more dorky). It wasn't until windows mobile 5 came out that persistent storage was introduced, and up to now, a system shutdown is still not introduced.
For the atom: I'm surprised why you would crash the system, when in fact, the atom will reboot once you re-insert the battery. You just turn-off (hibernate) the device prior to battery removal.
thanks jiggs
so in a PPC, taking out the battery while in hybernatation is OFFICIAL !!! actually this is my 1st experience with PPC & things r so different
& as u say, since atom is WM5, i dont loose ANY data even if i keep the fone without battery for 2days or forever? this is so cool !!! so ppc is now as reliable as symbian
thanks to every1 who @least read this post... for yr intention to help appreciate
atom shut down
atom doesn't have hardware system to turn off the phone but htc wizard have the hardware system to turn off the phone so its so popullar in pocket pc catageory.
Greetings mates,
Typical thread...Bricked Herms 100
But, very untypical.
I was upgrading to accomplish somesh** n prevent bricking.
Don't really know what happened.
I had sspl before as well.
Now i do not see anything.
No LED when plugged for charging
No LED when plugged via USB...
Just dumb blank screen, literally!
Any ideas n thoughts or I lost my 24days young Herms?
Anothe question I have is will HTC peeps come to know by any chance I was playing with my phone... It is not responding for power or anything basically. :/
I am newbie cooker... cooked n flashed 56.4 custom grilled rom... was struck in boot mode... thus flashed "Pays_WWE_305_Final_Full"... worked fine... booted... N then i flash Hard-SPL with 100% success but the phone is dead.
Attached is what I flashed.
Regards,
Sam
Yikes - Got a lil lucky for now.
It is 6 in morning and I was planning 2 sleep.
But, i wanted to try if i could get some positive result.
Removed the battery....
Plugged back the my baby to my comp...
Luckily I can see RED LED glowing.... hah, awesome.
But, not able to get her to bootloader mode.
Guess i need to try Jtag... for which i need to buy a cable whic i'll do today.
But, before that let me make tea and try mtty.... who knows i might get more lucky before i buy that cabel.
Good days guys....
==========
Right, 6:48 dusk.... :S
Plan to sliip(sleep) nou(now)....
Battry in my baby and RED led wont glow.....
Battry off my baby and she again starts to glow....
In humans its the other way... lol, if you know what i mean....
good nite for me.....
You can't boot to bootloader, what about a HR?
And are you pressing the right buttons for bootloader, ok button, power button and reset with stylus. Hold in until tri-colour screen appears.
Just asking as some people try holding in the camera button instead, thats another mode that works on some Hermes but not all - I can't think what it is as I'm pretty damn tired and my brain is shutting down...
Cheers...
Hmm...

Never tried one thing yet... battery replacement.
I hope when i get a new battery and plug it on my baby starts burning.
Anyways, good day!

Sam
I'd definately try the battery before playing around with the jtag method. Be a pain to accidently stuff up everything and find out a new battery would have fixed it...
Cheers...
bad thing is that it did not fix the issue.
I checked the whole market for JTAG cabels but not avail.
Thus building one using the method I saw on a site...
The link is below... this may help other users who yapp around to find the procedure. Senior members who already experimented with this methord to confirm if this would be ok stuff... .

just bought a new battery for my photon and its not wanting to take on a charge... reason why i bought it was cuz my original battery was doing the same exact thing...
when i first plug it in to my charger, the LED lights up a faded looking "white" color... does anyone have any ideas why its doing this??? possible solution to putting a charge on this stupid thing??? thanks for any help in advance...
ok, nevermind... found out it won't take a charge connecting to the computer... has to be an AC outlet for it to take it... UGH...
thanks anyways guys
WAS FLASHING A BRAND NEW FOXHOUND ROM V2.7 THEN WHILE INSTALLING THE PHONE WENT DEAD!
DOESNT BOOT, NO SIGN OF LIFE & NOTHING AT ALL EVEN WHEN IN CHARGER !
WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
Foxhound ROM is really cool and it's not the reason behind this weird incident !
Did you have battery charged to flash. Pull the battery out press and hold three button combo and put the battery bk in while holding the buttons.

Hello guys, I just found my old Elephone and wanted to revive it for fun.
The thing is that it seems totally dead, it doesn't even charge and even I press the power button for 1-2 min nothing happens.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance!

The battery is probably fully discharged, connect to a pc, so it gets a lower voltage current which might allow to charge it..
