Hi
Have a profhet G4, but i have now tried EVO8, Transfomer 1.0/1.1, Touch IX and Crystal V4.
They all run to slow even with xcpuscalar, and battery time is not good enough for my daily use. (Not using Wi-FI)
So should i try to go back on a WM5 rom ?, or has anyone good experiences with a WM6 rom? Maybe i should try with a clean WM6 rom? (link?)
thanks.
BR. Flemming
If Crystal V4 (Personal Edition) is not fast enough for you, I think you should cook your own ROM, 'cause that's all that left. If you do find a Faster ROM, I'd love to hear about it.
all now available wm6 rom is slower than wm5

Is it? All this while I thought WM6 (pure ones without TouchFlo and other fancy add-on) should run faster. I don't know cause used WM5 (think it was a very old release) for like 1 day plus then upgraded already.
Just open the Windows folder or settings in an WM5 Rom after you used WM6 and you will see which one runs faster.....you should also compare booting times! oO
In fact: Nearly any WM6 rom is faster than the WM5 ones...try it and you will see!

digifan, if you say that WM6 is slower than WM5... then you have no experience in WM6...

I agree with you. If more speed is needed , there is always battery plugin
Finally, at some point you're facing the hardware limit...

well spoken indeed.
@digifan
BTW, if you feel that WM5 is faster than WM& why the hell are you interested to upgrade. Stay as it is, man

I think too.
Well I'm happy that you found Crystal V4 fast. Recently there has been some development in ROM cooking world and consequently the crystal V5 will be even more stable and fast ! Crystal V5 will be a clean ROM with VOIP. The free storage memory will be somewhere around : 46 Mg .
This rom will be released in two to three weeks
good

I totally agree with you. I was almost abandon my Pocket pC before WM6 make my day again.
In era WM5 I totally refused to reboot due to slow booting time. WM6 safe a day.
Good luck!
i think you can enjoy htc photo album gestures and cube and other gr8 interfaces which wm6 has offered rather than think of speed ,you see there is a difference between a vintage glider(wm5) and a boeing 747 (wm6)and a f-16 fighter aircraft and a chopper , all have their own specific usage advantages and disadvantages ,no one of them will provide you everything at one place. you cant take a ferrari on country rally and if a country rally car comes to ferrari race it won't win .they have their own routes to go into.
WOW!!! hma4, 46MB wud b a treat!! I simply luv the freedom a clean ROM gives
46 MB.. It is really good... As I said before, you are one of the greatest....
serious speed issue
Guys,
I do have a Prophet as well as a Tornado. They seem to be identical in terms of hardware, but the even with the default WM5 roms the Tornado is way faster (windows folder opens in 2-3 seconds while the Prophet takes a well 6-7 seconds).
If you add special features to the Prophet, such as HTC Home, and a couple of other gimmicks, then it can be painfully slow (even with my cpu o/c at 273MHz). I did a hard reset to mine a couple of weeks ago and now I need over 20 seconds to open windows folder. I don't know if it is the rom to blame (I am currently using a PDAViet ver 4.0.0.0WWE) but we have to do something about it! Even the phone features are getting slow
Does everybody confirm that Crystal V4 is the fastest rom around? I have also in mind a TNT Greek rom (since I am Greek). Is that any good in terms of speed?

Hi folks. Been running DCD's roms for 3 months now; been very, very pleased with the customizations. Is memory usage of 85-90% common? Only 6-10 MB free?
Also, should programs like Voice Command, HTC Home-plugin, and Slingplayer Mobile be installed on device rather than storage card for better performance? Would installing on storage card free up program memory?
Thanks for your input.
Keep up the great work DCD.
Hi.. I just bought an MWg ATOM life... the picture is not exactly the same, but I suppose I can use the O2 XDA Atom files to upgrade right??
PDAVIET_WM61_ROM_OS19209_PP6M
thanks for the help
Absolutely no. Atom Life is a 624 Mhz processor powered-PDA; Atom is a 416 MHz device. Atom Life is 3g Radio equipped....... Atom is only a GPRS device.
Avoid to flash Atom ROMs on Atom Life.......... you 'll risk a general freeze and make the device unusable.
On this room you can find several Atom Life WM 6.1 ROMs. Use only them for flashing your PDA.
Actually I bought a MWG Atom Life and am successfully running PDAViet's rom so

I bought Mwg Atom Life about a week. It works perfect. no hanging no fast battery drain. no memory leakage . It works perfectly. What is the improvement in PV onofficial rom?(more efficient battery or more free ram?or improve speed!!) Is it worth a try?
If it is only threated sms and task manager it's not worth a dime for me. I also have a O2 xda atom and upgraded it to wm6.1 and familiar about thease two features.
THX
thanks.. you just saved me from a loaner bricked device!!

PV ROM has WM 6.1 (unofficial) and so has SMS Threader......... a great improvement for who uses strongly SMS services............. Threader collects SMS and queues them by sending number..... it order by date and time... it works great

Thank you for your information.
I already knew what is threaded sms is. but for me it is worthless specially when there is dosens of freeware and software that do the same as threaded sms.
My main question is : If you have a mwg atom life whithout any problem is it worth the rist to update to a buggy unofficial rom or its just threaded sms and thats all?
no offence to the cooker but even best unofficial ROMs have big problems!!
Personnally I had freezing problems with the last WM6 official ROM from O2... Now I have upgraded to the last ROM version of Medkid and so far I'm perfectly happy, I don't have freeze problems anymore!
Also the Java midlets application is way better... I also like the HTC today screen, which you obviously don't have with the official ROM...
tnx for your answer.
while i have no proplem with freezing and don't need to run java midlets there is no diffrence between them? (speed? free ram)
htc home plugin can be downloaded(.cab file is everywhere)

Can you write some "fix sd for dummies" guide on x10 so everyone can tweak without fear?

same with me, I'm using an 8gig card my friend got with his DX (pretty sure it's class 2 or legacy from before the class system). This tweak seems to have sped up my write speed by almost a full mbs/s and my read speeds have gone up even more,
4mb
For me: 16 gb ks >> 4mb>> 3.9 w>>18 r :d
I set my 8gb class 2 SD at 3456 & get this..
I'm running a Sandisk 32GB Class 2 (yup, you read that right). The SD Tool readings before the script is implemented seems to be fairly high, but they slack considerably after......
My readings are wild! Here's what I got, note that each time I run the test I use a task killer to clear running apps. Blue indicates readings prior to script implementations.

So.... I went with 5120....
This tweak is already applied in wolfbreak's ROM
I manage to set it till 3mb/s buffer, and latest version of sd tools( with improve and stability of testing speed version), had state my stock sd card (may be class 2-4?) had stable writing speed of 5mb/s (6mb max, but quite uncommon), and with 20mb/s reading speed, which looks more sense than previous diagnose than 3mb/s of writing speed and reading of FREAKING 50 mb/s of speed.
Overall, yes, it match the rumor, it "SLIGHTLY" improve the speed of SD card, but better than nothing ~hey!!!with the moded stock camera i and better writing speed of sd card, I manage get a better FPS on HD recoding, now i can throw my wvga out to my android.
my ressults :
Write speed: 377.7 MB/s
Read speed: 1.524 MB/s
Sony ericsson X10 i - SU08G
Im currently using Ridata 8G Class10 SD Card..
I was trynna download mp3 using a WIFI Connexion but its too damn slow..
do you guys think that the SPEED of Downloading will vary on the SPEED of SD Card's R/W'?
Or its just the connexion'?
It depends. I suggest running the SpeedTest and SD Tools apps from the market and then see for yourself. Although I think that a Class 10 SD Card should be fine. Also search the forum for franco's tweaks to improve both the RW and WiFi speed. (It's the only read_ahead_kb tweak that worked for me).

I know it varies with speed of card but your card is class 10 so no worry...
you have a really slow connection...(are you downloading something on your pc?)
with regard to speed of my sd card' its fast enuf.. yeah.. i think maybe the connexion has the problem.. not the sd card..
**im downloading mp3 thru wifi connexion using my phone.. not a pc
thanx for the suggested tweaks.. imma' check it later
There is a free Speedtest.net app in the Market for testing your network speed. You can also test your card's write speed with CrystalDiskMark, but I'm sure that's not the problem.
I agree with the other posters, it's a network issue not the cards.
