Hi guys,
Need help, when i softreset my atom exec, my Pda always ask for format the mini sd 1 gb card, either if I reinsert it, it prompts..
my data always gets lost after each reset.. I formated card many times, with ntfs format. If I don't use NTFS it is not detected by pda.
what can I do, so it will not prompt again at soft reset. If any registry setting need to do....
also how I can improve the quality of my camera in pda, as in night mode, the picture is blurred for the a light movement,
also when I shot a video and copy it in my pc, no sound is heard in pc speakes...
please suggest me the solution.
What procedure u use to format ur card??? and I don't think that NTFS is the correct format for pda.
For video I think u have muted the sound option, go to camera settings and vidoe and uncheck mute.
I inserted my mini Sd card in card reader and formated it
I haven't set any mute options in camera setttings, neither they are present their.. the sound comes in pda but not in system..
try flash your phone using different ROM from the one that u r using now.there are many rom available here.
I have installed 2-3 roms from here, but have same prob with that... no sound in system, but comes only in pda...

I just got an Qtek8500 and installed Kingston 1Gb MicroSd in it. But It's not recognized by the phone. I desperately need memory to get Skype installed.
I don't also know how do you hard reset the smartphone. I would like to erase all the slackfiles from it and hard reset should do the trick nicely.
So if anyone wants to answer these newbie questions i would appreciate it a lot
I've got no problems with 1Gb Kingston MicroSD and I-mate Smartflip.
You can hard reset the phone via Start->More->Accessories->Clear Storage.
And I think it's written in the manual though.
hello,
before an hard or soft reset of your device, firts reset your micro SD, with your pc ( right clik on your mouth and select "format" ) prefer the normal methode than the quik reset
have a good use !
I would agree with jeromeoudot - take the card out, format it on your PC and then drop it back in. You can double check by browsing to the card when the phone's connected via ActiveSync.
Let us know how you get on.
StarTrek SD Card flashing
It is necessary to format your microsd card to FAT32 filesystem!
# Empty (erase the contents) of your microSD card from the Windows Mobile file explorer or format it in fat32 from your computer using a card reader (in some cases format doesn't work).
# Extract the .NBH file from your prefered ROM upgrade: In windows use winrar (right click) to extract the contents of the exe file. In Linux / ~MacOS use [cabextract | http://www.kyz.uklinux.net/cabextract.php].
# Rename the .NBH file to *STARIMG.nbh* and copy it to the root folder of your microSD card.
# With microSD card inserted on the phone, start the bootloader (The bootloader is invoked by pressing down the Record button and Camera button at the same time).
# You should see the screen with SD Card searching, then confirm flashing on screen by pressing Softkey.
# Flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait. Complete flash takes about 25 minutes, so check your battery or connect to charger before the flashing process starts.
~SuperCID devices are able to flash any official NBH image using this method.
Yes it works ... but ... edit NBH files doesnt work too with this methode!!!
edit NBH files doesn't work at all. Because of there is no known method to create properly signed NBH for StarTrek.
i think that 1024 is right signature size, but it is incorrectly signes with any known nbh creating tool
Qtek 8500 dead
I tried to use RUU_STAR100_3.6.252.1_02.67.30_QtekNOR_Ship.exe to upgrade to the latest ROM, but upgrade process was interrupted (reported a communication error about 40% into the process); I was not able to recover via the tool.
The phone only shows the three colour bootloader screen now, with IPL and SPL 3.06.0000.
I tried the SD upgrade method described on this page, but while the phone during power-on process very briefly shows a white screen with "searching for SD card", it only comes back on the 3 colour screen and remains "dead".
Any tips on how I can revive the phone?
when your phone in tri-colour (bootloader) mode, reconnect it to PC, and run upgrade via RUU_STAR100_3.6.252.1_02.67.30_QtekNOR_Ship.exe again
PS. You phone isn't dead)
Qtek 8500 still dead
Thanks for the quick reply Erofish.
I tried the suggested step already, but it fails because the ActiveSync no longer gets established. When I plug in the USB cable in the phone, the word "USB" appears in the bottom-left corner of the three-colour bootloader screen, but the PC doesn't seem to recognise the fact that the phone has connected. The ActiveSync icon stays grey and the RUU_STAR....exe tool reports an "Error 260", indicating it cannot connect to the phone.
I did try another PC also, but no change, so I fear it seems to be a problem with the phone rather than the USB port, ActiveSync or so.
I was hoping that the SD Card flashing would be the alternative solution, but as mentioned above, I can't get that to work
I am now thinking I may have missed something in the process... I formatted the SD Card using FAT32, I copied the .nbh file and renamed it to STARIMG.nbh. I am getting the "searching for SD card" message briefly, but never get to the point where I am asked to confirm the upgrade; the screen just goes to/stays in 3 colour mode.
Whichever method may be best, but any ideas to get the phone working again would be GREATLY appreciated!
Dtroll1, turn off AciveSync, kill the ActiveSync processes or just disable USB connections in Connection settings and try again.
Did as suggested by ronswens, but am again getting the message from the RUU_STAR...exe tool that it can't connect to the SmartPhone (error 260).
Did you name the nbh file STARIMG.nbh in FAT32 sd card? I have tried sd card flashing, when i do have nbh file but cant flash,it shows "Invalid Certificate", so i doubt the nbh file name was wrong.
When my phone dead, i pull off the battery, wait half minute, and the plug in the battery(if i dont do these,i cant go into 3-color), go into 3-color, plug usb cable, and just run RUU,then it will flash, during flashing, ActiveSync keeps gray untill flash over and system boot into WM5.
I saw lot of people said, if you dont get CID unlock, the phone will easily get dead when flashing, and the only way to solve this is to send to repair.
only official NBH files can be flashed via microsd card!
yes, as dtsme said, try to remove battery for minute, and plug it again. Turn on your phone in bootloader mode (hold Record and Camera buttons and press Red Button (power))
when your device will get in bootloader mode, run RUU for your device (if you have Qtek 8500, then use Qtek rom; if you have Cingular 3100/3125, then use Cingular rom; if you have Dopod S300, then use rom for it; e.t.c)
Thanks again. The NBH file I used is an official one.
In any case- I sent the phone back, so problem "solved" for now.
I have the exact same problem as Dtroll1 - locked in three color screen (ipl 3.06.0000, spl 3.06.0000), consistent error 260 when running an updater, and no effect from putting SK_QtekNOR_3.6.252.1_Ship.nbh on a MicroSD as STARIMG.NBH.
Any further ideas?
Can I do this on my O2 Neo?

Here is a link to the OEM QTEK 8500 ROM. IF you are stuck in bootloader, you need follow the SD flashing instructions exactly including case sensitive naming of the file STARIMG.nbh. Also check that your card is FAT32 formatted and verify the file name in a DOS window to ensure that windows has not doubled up the .nbh extension

I think most HTC phones allow you to flash your phone from the card in such a fashion - the thing you have to figure is what to name the file - the name you give it varies from device to device.

I know this is a little too late... but it sounds like your SD card is too slow. For anyone else that has the same problem, make a small 100mb partition on the SD card and place your NBH file there. This will make it so that the bootloader sees the file before it moves on to the regular bootloader.

hiii everyone,,,,,,, recently i exchanged my x10 mini pro with my friend and take his rubbish cheap phone for 4-5 days as he needed mine for taking photo of a place.we also exchanged our sd cards, but since i took my phone back and trying to insert my sd card, it is not getting detected and phone keeps restarting automatically again and again and there is no option except watching ,,, my friend told me that he once plug the card in a pc that contains lots of serious virus,, phone works fine after removing the card,, but what is a smartphone without a sd card ( a useless ****)......... thanks in advance,,,, and do reply and help plzzzzzzz,,,, and btw i m using a custom rom ( ginger dx )
i try to help you:
put the SD-Card into a PC. if the PC "see" the Card and you can copy some files from/to SD-Card, than i think the SD-Card is working.
But if the PC donĀ“t "see" the SD-Card, than i think the Card is damaged.
Be careful with the SD-Card at the PC. If your PC read/write any datas from/to the Card an at the same time you put the Card out from the slot, than the card is to 99% damaged.
you should always klick to "remove hardware" at windows - your phone had this funktion too. Use this!
i will give a few things you cant try
1- do what the post above told and if you see the card copy your things and try formating(THIS WILL ERRASE EVERYTHING ON THE CARD, so dont forget to copy)
2- if step dint work, then you can try to use a diferente card and see what happens, if is the phone or you card
3- the last i have if you think the problem is in the phone then you can do a stock format(AGAIN THIS WILL DELETE YOUR PHONE THINGS, so do a backup first of every thing you need)
you can do this on the phone itheres is a option in the configuration
or with PC companion using the rapair they have
hope i helped
Hi everyone,
after 1 year expericing with evo 3d everything is ok,
but in the last month some problems are killing me.
1- when i put the usb connection to download image, after i get sd error and cant see any images from gallery. (files are visible with android assistan, visible after rebooting, tried different cables, different sd, the system doesnt sees anymore images of applications, maybe some refresh problem?)
2- when i turn off the screen and connected to wifi or datamobile, both turn off till i turn on the screen, its a very annoying problem...
3- also the music application cant find my mp3 folder with music.
4- when i open gmail at first it says "no data connection", even if i'm connected, and clicking refresh works. (but i have to click everytime!!!,,,,
5- today i got also a strange grey icon of the battery with an ? on it, first time ever seen it.
other miscellanea information:
the phone is all original, i'm using apex launcher instead of sense, there is a lot of free space on sd, the phone never fell on the floor, nor in the water. camera is working great and all other function, no lag in applications,,
i hope some of you great xda master can help me finding a solution,
thanks to all.

ps. does exist an application that cancel all unused application files in the sdcard? thanks again.
1 and 3 sound like a bad sd card or card reader in the phone. The rest sound like an OS bug, which a factory reset should hopefully clear up.

What do you mean "cancel?"
thanks for the answer,
i guess is the sd card, il try a factory reset. the new sd card that caused problem is a samsung 16 gb cas 6, i thoght it was good.
i mean wipe the garbage, like all those files left behind from applications uninstalled and no longer used.
thanks again.

Well, normally when you connect the USB cable and choose to connect the USB storage then the SD card becomes unavailable to the phone but the computer can then access it. Both the computer and the phone cannot access the SD card at the same time... I will spare you the technical reasons but you should know that this is normal. After you are done copying files with the computer then you must turn off this USB storage mode so the phone can access the SD card again and then it will see all your music and pictures again (all these are stored on your card by default).
This should all be fixed OK by a reboot of the phone though in any case. Are you sure you rebooted the phone completely? maybe you should try to remove the battery once?
If you've done all that then you can try to repair the SD card by taking it out of the phone and using micro sd to SDHC adapter and inserting it directly into a computer then using windows to run a chkdsk on it.
hi,
i've done all you said properly, you know the problem came out because there was a differente behavior than in the past.
i remove securely the phone from pc and then is not accessible,
i didn't tried to chdsk the sdcard i'll try, but it sounded strange to me because its brand new.
i also tried to contact htc , they said " try to reboot, or try to remove the battery and the sd and start the phone again, the problem wasnt gone.
thanks for the advice.

Well if it's just gotten corrupted then you can just reformat the sd card. You'll want to backup all your data first so if you can't do that from the USB connection to the PC then you'll need to insert it directly into a pc. Once you've formatted it you can put your backed up data back on the card and put it back in the phone and after a while it will find your mp3s again. If it's truly a bad sd card then the reformat won't help.
Do you have another sdcard? The one that came with the phone or any other? Try putting some mp3s and photos on it and then put that in your phone. If your phone recognizes the photos and mp3s then maybe your current sdcard is the problem. And can you tell the the format of your sdcard? Is it NTFS or exFAT or FAT32? If it is UHS-1 card there is a good chance that it is in exFAT. To make it work on Evo 3d, convert it to FAT32 .
