Atom Life Help - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

I purchased an MGW Atom Life from Expansys, supposed to be unlocked...when I try to set it up to even have it use voice I see no United States as an option with Wireless carriers...is there a way to add the country United States as an option? Do I need some other rom? I did upgrade to MGW's USA WWE latest rom still no listing for the United States. Thank you!

Use the Connection Wizard to get your carrier's settings configured.

It doesn´t show Tmobile US either so I set up my internet connection manually, you are gonna have to do the same thing for AT&T.Go to connections and create a new modem one.

TMobile in Australia

I just wanted to pass on my experience with a 900/1900mhz device on the Australian Telstra network (900/1800mhz) for any other aussie's thinking of buying a US model to save some cash.
I initially bought this with the expectation that GPRS probably wouldn't work, but I figured this wouldn't matter that much as long as the phone did.
Anyway, after a call to Telstra, they told me it should still work fine on the 900mhz band so I setup my account for access to the network, put in the details and hey presto! GPRS!
I did however discover a missing component. The support guy was walking me through the process and asked me to put in the proxy information....huh? Not there! Is this something that has been removed from the developer rom or is it just the Australian XDA that has this extra tab in the connection settings? Luckily Telstra also offer a non-proxy connection so I was able to get around this anyway.

Using Other Sim From Other Country

Hi All,
I have some queries. Do I need to change my O2 UK Extended Rom to Asia Extended Rom for me to use the their Sim Card. I got an unlocked XDA2. Example I want to use the Sim Card in Philippines.
Thanks
Any suggestion from XDA2 users in Phils.
As far as your device is unlocked, it should work OK with any SIM.
However, some carriers do have specific policies for their networks, like for sending MMS, GPRS usage and some others. It also might have some predefined carrier settings in your original Ext ROM.
However, as far as I know, basic phone usage is almost sure to work OK.
Good Luck!
Phone coverage will be fine, I have used my XDAII in Singapore, Europe, Africa, and the US over the past 2 months without a problem... as for gprs well that I do not know, but to make phone calls etc, just pop in the new sim and you're good to go.

Using xda2 abroad

Hi there... this is my first post so forgive me if i don't get the protocol correct!
Will my 02 locked phone work when roaming in europe because i have family in Germany and France and i will need to use my phone abroad?.
If it will roam OK i have no reason to unlock it.
Cheers
Yes, it will roam fine, but be aware that O2 charge a small fortune for GRPS usage abroad.
You should be able to get an add-on package for european roaming that will reduce your costs a bit, but it still works out very expensive. I have this addition yet I was recently charged £1.70 for a 4k download from France. Spain is even more expesive for some reason.

Dilemma - O2 XDA2i

I need to purchase a pda phone for a project that I am on. I have decided to go with one of XDA2i or XDA2s.
I only need to run one j2me application with the CDC config and Personal Profile on the pda phone and nothing else.
What I am unsure about is what is my best option in purchasing an XDA2i/s. I can do one of the following
1) Purchase the XDA on contract from o2 and then flash it so it has none of the o2 software on it which I do not require.
2) Purchase the XDA unlocked from expansys.com for about £600.
The problem is that I need to use the vodafone network in the UK as thats who our network provider is. I do not think Vodafone has the xda2i on its network and also if it does I still do not like the pre-installed software that comes with it.
So can I flash the XDA2i from o2 so there are no operator installed software?

I dont think the XDA unlock programme works for XDA2i version?
Also do you have more information on your rom? As long as I can get rid of all the operator settings and then just add the GPRS settings for vodafone then I am happy. The pda will be used for a singel application so the less programs in memory hopefully the faster it will run.

O2 does offer IIi in UK, as far as i can see from O2 UK website. if you really hate those so called pre-loaded software. just do a hard reset follow by a soft reset before the auto install begins.

T-Mobile US HTC HD2 not working in Germany

Hi,
since my phone was stolen 1 day before my trip to the US, I had to buy another one in California. I asked at the T-Mobile Shop if I could use the HTC HD2 in Germany and they said yes - I just have to wait 6 Weeks and request a unlock code. Now that I am back in Germany, I can't get a Connection with my O2-SIM card. Even with the T-Mobile SIM-Card there is no reception. I tried everything, AutoData Config, Connection Config.
When I click on Set Networks I get a list of all the German Providers (o2, T-Mobile, E-Plus, Vodafone), so the phone actually has reception, but cannot connect. When I click on "Find Network" it says "Cannot register on selected network. Choose another network, or disconnect your data connection and try again".
Is there anything I can do?
Thank you so much for help!
Alex
I don't know what to do... it finds all the networks but I can't connect.
Maybe I should try to flash another Radio?
I have now:
R 2.10.50.26
G 15.39.50.07U
D 2 Energy

Yes, did that! And tried to set the Europe- Types (GSM & 900-1800)
So, now I found something interesting. My original SIM Card from California T-Mobile can't connect to Networks, My ne O2-Sim-Card can't connect to any network either (but they can be found). But another FONIC SIM card (prepaid, germany) can connect to all networks!
I don't understand this...
Have you tried your O2 Sim Card in another working phone?
Ok, now that hurts. Found the solution for my problem: it says in the letter "Before you can use your new SIM card, you have to activate it!" Haha... I was searching the Web for 4 1/2 hours just to find out everything is right and I just have to read...
Thanks so much.
haha thats epic
