Hi their dose anyone know a crack or how to get the GPRS Working ???
If you flashed a ROM then you'll have to enter your carrier's network settings. Look on their website or search for network settings cabs for the major carriers. Look under "Start --> Settings --> Connections" to add or edit the connections.

Asking for cracks will get you the ban-hammer. Stay legal, my friend.
Not if you are ignorant...why the hell would you need a crack to make your GPRS work?

you can't send sms with 3g enabled...
just configure your APN setting &
or look Dial: *#*#197328640#*#*
try band selection and change this
maybe ur phone is on wrong network
had the same problem 3 days before
just configured this with GSM and it works on 3g again
I'm hoping someone can help explain to me the process for accessing a data network in India. I'm currently on a prepaid data plan with Airtel and while I get the H+ symbol, I still can't access the data network. I've searched and I guess I need to change/create an APN, however, I'm not sure how to go about this. I've called Airtel several times, but all they tell me is that the phone is too new and they don't know how to configure it.
So, essentially, what settings do I need to change to be able to access Airtel's 3g data network in India?
Thanks!
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Even just a link to an applicable thread would be helpful!

I got the same problem sir, please follow my instruction on how to configure the 3G network.
1. Go to "Settings -->Wireless & networks"
2. Tab "Mobile networks"
3. Tab "Access point names"
4. Go to "New APN"
5. Give the name as "Mobile Office"
6. APN as "airtelgprs.com"
7. Switch OFF your mobile phone
8. Turn it on(IF it did not work, then pop out your sim once and insert it again)
9. Now you can access the 3G
Please ask my help if you need thanks

Hello ,
I have the Photon for 3 months and i use it in a GSM network .
Few days after i moved to another GSM provider , the phone began having connectivity issues .
In most cases it does not have 3G ,and sometimes I cannot make calls from it (No Service).
I noticed that when i'm with WI-FI ,in most cases i don't have the No Service problem.
I am not sure if this is a hardware problem or network problem (could not find another provider's SIM , if could find one I would check it),because the problems started only four days after moved to the new provider and not from the first day with the new provider.
Could some one help with diagnosing the problem ?
try setting the network to "automatically" and not "any GSM / UMTS"

well, I tried that -it did not help ......
Try putting *#*#INFO#*#* in the dialer perhaps and changing the GSM settings through there?

could you guide me please how to use this menu ?
It sounds like bad APN to me. Make sure your phone is rooted and then get the apparently "apn backup and restore" back up your current APN with it and wipe them out. Find someone else on the same carrier u switched to and have them do the same. Restore their backed up APN . try that and Report back please.
Also for my own Peice of mind: you are using the photon kddi released for the Asian region amirite?

This would be in the settings -> networking and wireless -> GSM settings. Ill post a screen shot but I'm about to PM you anyways because I'm very curious about how this plays out as it could really help clarify some things we have been pondering the effectiveness of in removing the domestic lock on the US photon-4g GSM radios. You have your Data Connection enabled, right? Another think you could try is switching to EDGE to see if it works with that.
Connection on, tried 2g also...
Maybe carrier has control over tether ability?

Does your carrier allow tethering? Have you tried another SIM?
my girlfriend has a 710 and tethering works on her device, took her sim and got the same error...(i'm a qa engineer and already thought of these options so i guess is a hardware problem)

You can also try a hardreset. There were some changes in the firmwares that are only active after a hard reset.
i find it really stupid that i have to hard reset it...that;s not why i bought the phone..
what are these changes?

Well, I got some new options that allow me to configure call forwarding and the SMS charset... I doubt that it is a hardware problem. Your data connection works properly on the phone?
Yup, always has been working fine...
Is the phone sim unlocked & are you using it on a different service provider? Can you send MMS messages? I suspect WP is looking at some hard coded APN settings when activating internet sharing, & not the one entered under the cellular apn option.
Yes i can MMS messages, but i do have another problem with it that makes me think the celullar modem is faulty....i use it on 2g and sometimes when i receive a call the sound is all distorted when i answer for about 5-6 seconds and then i ca hear the person on the other end...this happens form the day i started using it...
(noob, non-techie here) I picked up an MB860 (2.3.6 - 4.5.141) before coming to Vietnam. (I guess I needed the ME860.) Now that I'm here, neither Viettel nor Vinaphone can get the "data to work" (any G) over their networks (wifi does work & can make phone calls). I've monkeyed around with the phone settings including the *#*#4636#*#* wcdma/gsm/etc. settings to no avail. The phone is currently unlocked (factory) and unrooted/stock. Anyone know if there's a way to get this model to work here via the standard settings, new firmware, or rooting? Any help appreciated.
I'm currently in Vietnam and using an rooted AT&T one, running TopSmart 1.3. It work like a charm without any change on baseband, so I guest you don't have to worry.
Your phone is a Korean version or AT&T ? Are you in Hanoi ? May be I could give some helps.

Hey,
It's an AT&T purchased in the US. I'm not in Hanoi - too bad for me
Based on the specs, and what I've seen about Viettel & Vinaphone frequencies (I guess), this model should work. Being an AT&T phone, on eof the setting selectors is "greyed out" which won't let me select a network. I'm thinking that may be the hitch. I'm a noob so I don't Know what TopSmart is. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

TopSmart is a cook rom. Don't mind.
So in general, you can call (and text also) but no data connection, right ? In US (or wherever your previous country), data connection still ok, the problem have occured just in time you arrived in Vietnam ? Have you changed anything in your phone's setting ? Have you register the 2G/3G service with the mobile network provider (Mobiphone, Viettel or Vinaphone - which you still using) ? - It's importance !
Because you can call, I guest your network setting is alright. Try to go to System setting ~> Wireless and network settings ~> Mobile network and check on the box Data enabled (on top of the screen). Restart your device if required, and then open your browser, connect to google.com for testing.
If it didn't help, please take a screenshot of the Mobile network settings screen and attacht here for more reference.
Best regards.
P/s: please answer all my question for providing me as much information as you could. And finnaly, tell me the name of your mobile network provider in Vietnam you currently using. It could helps.

Corect (call text no data)
Correct (worked in US)
No changes in settings other than APN for viettel and vinaphone
Registered 3G service (had viettel and vinaphone techs try and install 3g sim)
My "Data Enabled" is found under a different menu _Battery and data manager_ Data is enabled. Settings-> Wireless & network settings->Mobile networks->Select network (greyed out - option there to toggle/select but not allowed)
Will try and get screenshot.
