I was looking around the forums and find a couple spots on how to increase the volume while u are talking on the phone. Unfortunately i cant find the entries in the registry. Does any1 know how to increase the volume gain for the Cingular 8525? Much Help is appreciated!
Here is what i found:
Code:
Fix low volume issue
The volume issue has 2 fixes, 1 permanent and 1 temporary.
If you disable the startup animation (see below) it permanently fixes the volume problem.
If you like the animation you can leave it, but you have to put your phone in sleep mode then bring it out of sleep mode after every reboot.
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume
add: DWord value name = volume
value data = 4294967295
then press power (sleep) wait 10 sec and press power again.
Disable/change the startup animation or sound
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
Enabled - change from 1 to 0 to turn everything off and permanently fix the volume issue.
You can also customize the animated boot up by deleting or changing 2 keys. (Doing this does not fix the volume issue)
Delete the WAVFile Key to remove the sound only.
Delete the GIFFile Key to remove the animation only.
Put your own .GIF file or .WAV file on the phone and rewrite the 2 keys (WAVFile GIFFile) to the new file location. i.e. \My Documents\Files\?CustomAnimation.gif

That is specific to the new cingular ROM. I will look into overall loudness though, but the 8525 is pretty loud already.
I just picked up the phone last week...i love it except for me the volume it too low!
Here is my Device Information:
ROM Version 1.30.502.1
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
It seems really old compared to what the rest of you have.... What is the different between flashing the ROM and Radio?
I just spin the scroll wheel up and it gets plenty loud.

Did you buy it new at a Real store since you should have
ROM Version 1.34.502.1 Dated 09/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
At the minimum.
Anything newer than 1.34.502.1 is since we like to try new test ROMS
Your version was a pre-release ROM from Cingular.
Doesn't work for me
I have an 8525 with the new Cingular 2.06 rom. I disable the start up in the registry and when I soft reset it enables itsel again.

You need to read about making sure your registry changes are being saved before you reset. Search the forum, but here's a quick overview
Make registry changes
turn off device
wait ten seconds
turn on and then reset
or reset using software reset like pocket plus or similar

Did you try to stop the sound and not the splash screen? It did that to me so I turned off the entire boot splash and sound. It stuck then and now just shows Green WM splash while booting.
It Worked!!!
It worked!!! I just did this reg change and the sleep and wait 10 sec and turn back on and reset.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
Now what does the following key change do?
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume
add: DWord value name = volume
value data = 4294967295
is it for the ear in call volume, and what does it do?
Thanks.
Allan
I would like to know what that does too. I did change that value and I don't think I see a difference.
Worked great. Thanks!!!
Are these hacks specific to certain ROM versions? I have the HTC ROMs and tried these and i still find the volume to be low. I had the original iMate (Himalaya) then the Prophet now Hermes.
Of all three, the Himalaya had incall volume close to a normal phone. Since then i found the Prophet to be way lower. A ROM upgrade helped slightly. I thought my dissatisfaction with this would end with the Hermes purchase but i think the incall volume level is even lower than the Prophet!!!
I can't believe i'm the only one with this impression. Volume levels can be a bit subjective so i'm not sure how easy it is to compare with others. But if for instance you hold the device at a couple of feet away from your ear (less than an arms length) and replay a voice mail message at full volume, can you hear that there is any audio coming out of the device? Even in a relatively quiet room, just TV playing quietly in the background i can 't tell.
Someone with a Razr or any normal phone can be heard (other party on line) from many feet away at max volume.
This is my one o/s issue with this device. The speakerphone vol is much better than the Prophet and is quite good.
Anyone found a real universal solution for ths incall volume issue yet?
first using HERM200 with
ROM 1.18.255.3
Date 07/22/06
Radio 1.16.00.00
Ext ROM 1.18.255.106
then updated on Mar 26 2007 to
ROM 2.11.255.1
Date 03/07/07
Radio 1.38.00.10
ExtROM 2.11.255.102

OK...so I had to disable the StartupAnimation key also...that is turn it to "0" and then theere was no sound..the GIF still flashes on startup...but no sound....Mannnn the sound was irritatin...
I have found that the best way to get the loudest incall volume is to put/make sure that setacousticparam is in the rom.
Here's the link to the thread where i put detailed instructions and the required files to add it to any rom you want...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328450&highlight=setacoustic
go to page 5...it's the super long post with attached files..

I realize I'm a novice here but, where exactly do you type/put this information? I'd really like for this to work because the volume on my 8525 via BT is really low.

lemme help u here....You have to do all this in teh Windows REGISTRY....
Download the Total Commander Registry Editor to make these changes on ur 8525.
Search abt REGISTRY and this editor on Google to learn before you play around with registry settings..OK?
I have a Sprint Touch Pro and for some reason I can't adjust the volume during a call. When I hit the volume keys on the side of the TP, the volume screen pops up and the System volume indicator increases or decreases with presses of the keys, but the call volume doesn't change at all.
I have installed the modified audiopara3.csv file to increase the phone's volume, and also have used Diamond Tweak to disable the 100db limit and set the Increase Sound option to High. Any suggestions?
Which volume screen pops up? The HTC one or the Microsoft Windows Mobile default one?
At least for me, the "fix" was to enable the Microsoft default one.
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718080&postcount=7
Thanks! That worked.
What Exactley does the cab listed above do? When I try to change the volume during a call it just changes the ringer/system volume as it normally would. I don't want to disable the volume controls all together when I press the side buttons though.

ohh, that remover it works for Me, it removes the orig. HTC volume adjuster, and voila! I can adjust the incall volume!
Thanks
Thanks a lot for this, finally getting this verizon brick to be half decent!
Hello All,
I need some help, I had a broken screen and when I replaced it I managed to break both the side volume buttons!
Now I can live with this until I order a replacement ribbon but since I don't have the side volume buttons any more I cannot adjust the speaker volume while i'm making a phone call and it's set to quite low at the moment.
Does anybody know what the program is called so I can invoke it set it to max and close it or at least the registry value that controls this?
Please note both system and ringer volumes are set to max through the device settings, it's the volume during a call I wish to increase...
Thanks in advance!
Did I ask the only un-answerable question in this entire forum?!?!
Put "windows mobile volume setting" into google. The first two links give you some freeware apps that allow you to edit volume on the screen itself.
Is anyone using automation apps to improve your tablet s experience? Please share any relevant tips you have.
I just used Tasker to fix something that's been annoying me about the tablet s. No matter what I set the volume to, the key click sound stayed pretty loud. I created a tasker profile to change the system volume whenever media volume changes. The buttons on the side control media volume. Now when I turn the volume up or down, the key click changes too. If anyone is interested, I can post the profile for download
Edit: Media volume goes up to 15. System volume goes to 7. To get the desired effect, system should be set to half of media
I did not know tasker works without root. Thanks
when i reboot my phone, my call volume isnt saved. how can i save call volume when i reboot my phone?
I think there are apps that can do that. Try looking for Volume Control Pro, or something along those words.
