Playing Movies on XDA

Can anybody recommend the best video player and DVD to Pocket video format converter for the XDA.
The download links would help a lot!
Thanks,
Igor.
I think you want to visit this site:
http://www.mpegtv.com/wince/pockettv/
I've tried this...I noticed that the xda cant deal with full on divx or mpeg bitrates (e.g. video cd) which is a shame...
Low quality low bitrate clips work fine, anything else stutters and locks the machine up.

Optmal Video settings for P500

As you know our phone isn't really equipped to play most videos we throw at it, so what video bitrate/resolution/framerate have you found to work the best on the Optimus one?
And please mention which software you use to convert.
THIS IS IT....
xvid codec 640*360 max with ~1Mbps and mp3/aac audio are played without conversion...(your Sitcom episodes)...
Havent TRIED h264 or DIVx playback ...on the box though it does say DIVX resolution upto 320*240..
files with ogg video(theora) and ac3 audio dont play without conversion
No 720p,1080p/i playback possible...FOR ALL HIGHER resolutions/bitrate u need to convert ..i have a personal converter favourite....hassle free and its just a GUI for the wonderful FFMPEG program...herehttp://miksoft.net
Really? Mine struggles to play 624x352 24fps .mkv files. Unwatchable.
Which video player do you use on your phone?
I use Handbrake for all my videos. Starting from the "iPhone Legacy" profile, here are the settings I use to create H.264 files:
- Video: 480 x 320, H.264 (x264) codec, 768 Kbps bitrate, FPS same as source
- Audio: AAC (faac), stereo, 44.1 KHz, 128 kbps bitrate.
Image and sound are crystal clear, but of course, you can find your own favorite settings (just don't mess with the advanced settings, our CPU only handles the basic H.264 profile).
I use RockPlayer (the free version) for playback, because it can render .srt subtitles.

Lol I m pretty sure its not mik's company and I never said I cud play mkv files ...that container is a ***** ..
Yeah it is. And thanks for that link, it works great.
I'm using the m video player. It is pretty good and plays with subtitles. Loving it. Just that the phone doesn't support higher resolution mp4 videos. Jus the audio plays and the video drags. I use demo player to play flv. Some videos play fluently while other drag and drag!!
Also ppl if you are into h264 (like masteryx is)
U could try "any video converter" here http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
It is wonderful i m using it...At these setting
h264 778Kbps 480*320
mp3 48Hz 128kbps
in .avi container..Conversion is faster than handbrake

[Q] Need to convert movies for the S2

Ok I have a lot of movies I wanna put on the greatest smartphone ever .
I have a Never Back down in mkv format and a lot of other avi movies .
Which is the best/fastest video converter which would give me the exact 800x480 resolution converted movies with minimal output size .
Multiple suggestions would be appreciated .
Cheers !
I use one converter for 2 years, on many phones which I had, "Winavi Converter" You can convert almost all types of file. Hope this helps!
Get rockplayer and it will solve all your problems.
Galaxy S II supports both containers (avi and mkv) out of the box. Provided the video is MPEG-4 based and the audio is MP3 or AAC, you should be able to play them without conversion.
Of course, if you want to save space, you might want to re-encode the video at a lower quality. There are tons of tools. My favorite ones are those based on ffmpeg.
Here is such a tool:

HD playback not as smooth as the recorded video ?

Hey guys
Today I tested a HD trailer on my Titan and although it looked excellent on such display,I think it wasn't as smooth as iPhone 4.I maybe to sensitive but I think it was kinda less smoother.
So I decided to record a video with the phone and it's playback was very smooth(same as iPhone).
So,shouldn't the videos I synced from the PC play smoothly too ?
Just curious, what was the framerate of the HD video? Also, what was the codec and bitrate if you happen to know.
30FPS
With a total bitrate of 2558kbs
Here's the link to it
http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/deceived-cinematic-trailer
If any of you guys can download it,it would be great.Check if it plays as smoothly as on the iPhone(if you have one) or like the video recorded by the phone
OK,so tested the trailer side by side with the iPhone 4 and it ran pretty much the same.(iPhone being a tiny bit faster).
On a side note,Titan "destroyed" iPhone 4 in terms of video playback lol first because of the large screen and second because the colors look way better on the Titan !
does the titan play .mkv files. i'm planning to get one after the holidays, but i don't know if wp7 can play .mkv!! i know that can play h.246 codecs. most of the video files i have are .mkv and not .avi. can anyone test it, please??

[Q] blu ray rip uncompressed mkv playback ( makemkv, com )

I'm checking to see if the snapdragon 800 / adreno 330 at the heart of the xperia Z ultra can playback mkv bluray rips made using makemkv (free while in beta, aka forever) from makemkv.com. (caution resulting file can be 15-30GB)
I'd like to hear if anyone has tried it, either off a SNB (windows) share on a 801.11 N or AC wireless network or right from the microsd card.
The best apps to try for playback are:
bsplayer
Archos Video player (with codec add-on for sound)
VLC nightlys (not available in the play store, google for the apk)
I'm considering getting this phone or another based on the snapdragon 800 and want to know if it can flawlessly playback these files and for bonus points if anyone has successfully been able to output the playback over MHL/HDMI cable to a larger 1080p display.
Thanks!
i play my 1080p Movie mp4 rips and they perform great
tho the video app cant play avi video formats sadly
I use 'dice player' and it works well for mkv file even streaming.

I'm guessing these are re-compressed 1080p movies. I want to know if the phone can handle playback of the actual video streams on the bluray itself. MakeMKV rips the actual video streams and puts them all in a mkv container. The resulting file is often 20-30GB, not the 5-10GB of the 1080p files I'm guessing you tried. BTW, if you try the apps I listed above (diceplayer too as was recommended) you will have no trouble playing back those old AVI files.
720p 10bits mkv ( vlc/mx player) flawless
1080p 10bits mkv( vlc/mx player) flawless
Dvd rip. Iso ( vlc/mx player / base player) vieuweble

Great testing, looking forward to your results tonight! Is your link speed on wireless close to 300Mbit?
Also, try Archos (google: archos video player apk and Archos Video All Codecs Plugin) and bsplayer are good ones to try.
Great to hear about 10bit 1080p anime releases too!
Thanks a bunch!
