I mean when we are on a wap net, much of the time, they know what tape of phone we used.
so, how they manage to do it?
accoding to the PIE or register information?

I use a T-mobile ppc with a Swedish device carrier. Everything works fine except for the internet. I entered all the right information. But I won't get connected. An additional problem is that T-mobile has removed the GPRS authentication module. So I don't know how to investigate those settings. Does annybody have a answer to that?
You mean that it won't ask for a username/password when you create a new GPRS connection? If so, why don't you load the SE ROM then? It will ask you for authentication when you create a new connection.
Thanks for your response Carlos. Yes it asks for username and password and it tries to connect but then it either stops with no connection or asks me once again to enter the user name and password.
I wonder if I need the GPRS authentication module to know if the pap settings is used?
Don't get confused. I posted my question as guest Diderikus, but am a member now and use the name Andreas. Both are my names.
Well, I finally dare upgrading to SE ROM and my XDA works better than ever with good Internet Connection, thanks guys.

i am new here and i just got my xda.......its a wonderful device no doubt and whats more wonderful is the support that you people offer through this website. keep up the good work and i hope that i can be of help to you and to this website..
now to the problem...i have a wap account which i configured correctly (since when i am dialing it is connecting) but when i try to access wap sites from internet explorer...no matter what wap site i try (which i know is working) it always tells me page could not be found!
so what am i doing wrong? do i need another wap browser and if yes please give me the link of a good one that you recommend
thanks for your help in advance
may GOD bless you all
You can use EZWAP 2.5 ... it's complicated but works good for WAP sites.
Pocket IE doesn't support WAP protocol
Hilal, have you tried accessing normal http internet pages, I have an O2 pay and go sim, I have 300 minutes wap for free every month, I just dial in to my wap access number using gsm not gprs, I am then able to get full internet access.
Hey all, I've trawled through the posts here and googled this several times but I cannot find an idiot proof method of setting up GPRs on Pocket PC 2002.
All the setting i find on google are for Pocket PCs without internet connectivity like the XDA.
Does anybody else here have the settings they use and an idiot proof guide to inputting them as this is my first experience using an XDA.
Thanks all.
Got this sorted - thanks.
Virgin Settings
How did you get it sorted??
This is doing my head in. I can't find any settings that work and as you know those numbs nuts at Virgin can't help.
these work for me
select: modem cellular line (gprs)
access point name: goto.virginmobile.uk
user name : user
password and domain - leave blank
under advanced - TCP/IP and servers -dot on use server-assigned IP address
The above worked for me.

Virgin MMS Settings
Yeah. I have managed to set up the GPRS on can now browse website on my PDA.
But what about MMS. I can't find the right settings to make that work.
Does anyone know of a website with this info? (Virgin has thier MMS setting but they do not relate to PDA's)
Or
Can anyone reading this tell me in idiot proof terms how to do it?
Thanks
This might help you setting up MMS on your XDA I

The topic is written specifically for Optus Australia network, but you can just replace the server addresses etc. with your own network's.
I just took those settings from a friend's mobile phone and it seems to work. So i dont think there's a difference between PDA's and phones when it comes to settings for mms. My sefvice provider also refused to give me the settings. Anyways, thats a step in the right direction for you, gd luck!
I'm using a 3G data connection that requires a http proxy.
So... I've defined a proper APN with proxy.
Browser is the only program that I can use with this connection (only page view, no download). All the rest application that need an internet connection simply doesn't work.. nothing. Even the download from the browser doesn't work.
I've tried with another APN that's not using a proxy and works. Also with WiFi is ok.
So, my question is: it is posible to enable http proxy in ALL programs? I had no problem on Symbian or Windows Mobile..
This is by no means a definite answer, but in your APN, try adjusting the "APN type" setting. On Telus, it's: default, mms
From what I understand you can try a combination of those two settings, or set it to nothing. See what results you get.
Thanks for the reply
Unfortunately no change.
While it's not the response you were hoping for, since no one else has responded, I would contact my provider if I were in your position. See if they can offer any insight. Good luck!
Thanks but my provider cannot do anything. I've used this connection on other platforms without problem (windows mobile, symbian).
The problem is that application take just the apn without proxy details.. Only the browser is using the proxy
It seems that's an Android issue ..
You may star this issue:

so maybe google will understand the importance of this feature.. i'm still wondering why it's not implemented as it should..
Can anyone guide me where i can get the wap settings to use on this phone, wap settings are for prepaid att phones, i have done it with android and iphones but never for windows, the codes i used on adnroid dont work any advice??
