Hi all,
I have a problem with my Qtek 8500:
When I am calling somebody I have no sound. I neither hear the ringing signal nor the friend I called after he picked up the phone. Same when I get al call. I flip open the phone and after I pick up I hear nothing. My friend is hearing me clearly, so I assume mic is ok.
If I switch to speakerphone everything is working well, if I cancel speakerphone again and put my ear back to the phone I hear nothing.
During a call I put the volume up with the switch at the side but that doesn't help.
Any suggestions ?
Rom is the normal WM5 rom 3.6.251.0
Radio 4.1.13.28_02.67.30

I searched and could not find any info on this, so sorry if it has been asked before.
When my ear piece is plugged in to the unit, the ringer will not ring (produce sound) through the speaker, it only rings (produces sound) through the ear piece. Is there a setting I am missing? Or, has anyone else had this problem...thanks!
That is normal, when you plug in the earpiece sound is diverted to the earpiece and the speaker is dead, once you remove it the sound will return to speaker, why would you want sound through the speaker while using the earpiece?
Thanks for the reply. I must not have asked the question very well.
I do understand that the sound is diverted to the ear piece while it is plugged into the phone. And I understand that voice needs to be because you want to hear what people are saying.
However, many times I carry the phone in my pocket with the earpiece plugged into it. When it rings, I can not hear the ring because the ringing sound is also being diverted to the ear piece.
If you take a look at the Handspring TREO or other non PDA phones, the ringer will ring through the normal speaker reguardless if the ear piece is plugged into the phone or not. This enables you to hear the phone ring if you have the ear piece plugged in. Only the voice sound is diverted to the ear piece, not the ringing sound.
The feature of being able to hear the phone ring while the ear piece isplugged in is important to me. It appears that it is standard on other phones and I was looking to see if there is a setting, hack or ajustment to make this happen on my phone.
Sorry for the long post and not explaining it well the first time.
All the best.
That would be so nice ... I miss this feature in my old Nokia 9210 where there was a "Headset" profile that you can customise.
There is a bit silly solution for this I use it when I 'm in the car. Keep the headset jack a bit loosy ... don't make it firmly connected to the XDA. This way the ringer will come through the XDA but you will get the sound in the headset but only in the right channel
I don't mind it since I don't use the 2 earpieces for only phone calls ... only for MP3 files  ... hope that will help
Sorry I am without my XDA for a few weeks, so I can't tell you what to do, but I can offer you hope! You can make the phone ring through the XDA when the headset is plugged in.
Head over to www.pdaphonehome.com and search through the forum there.
Thanks for that, I did go over there and could not find the subject, so I posted the topic there. Thanks again!
UPDATE....Updating the ROM to version A.20.17 fixed the issue
UPDATE # 2 Now I upgraded to WM2003 and I am experiencing the same problem...Any suggestions?
Hello all.
I've got a Droid Razr Maxx, XT912, and the ear speaker doesn't work most of the time.
When I take a call, the caller can hear me, but I cannot hear them. If I switch to a bluetooth headset, a wired headset, or speaker phone, I can hear the caller fine.
Sometimes the speaker will work again when I switch from speakerphone to handset and back a couple times, but most of the time I can't do anything to make it work.
Any suggestions, ideas, tips, or tricks for troubleshooting or problem solving?
I'm running VZW's JB (looking to upgrade ROM soon), rooted, nothing special.
So I just got this phone recently, its the C6833 and when I am on the Speakerphone with someone it starts to crackle.
However when I listen to music its fine, that's really strange I think.
Is there a different speaker within that one speaker at the bottom for calls and a different one for Music?
If someone could please help me out on this I would really appreciated it.
Do you mean cracking and buzzing (interference) in phone call speaker ? My C6833 does buzzing and cracking .. and not only when I make a call .... but everytime. I hear it anytime I put my phone to ear. I think there is GSM antena, WiFi etc. and it is not shielded enough.
You have 2 speakers on your phone ... One is for phone calls and the other is for music, loudspeaker ...
I dont know what to do ... It is propably HW problem ... I dont want to be without my phone for few weeks

Yea like a cracking sound, but like I said it Only happens when I am on speakerphone making a call, when I listen to music its perfectly fine.
The Music and phone calls when on Speaker Phone come out of the same speaker at the bottom of the phone.
Also when I talk on the normal phone when making a phone call with the phone to my ear, I can hear perfectly.
Very very odd.
I have a static noise coming out of my speaker. I can hear it during
speaker phone calls and when playing music with the volume very very low. Try playing your music and turn down the volume and see if you can hear the noise.

Well when I play my music low like you said to do, I can hear a bit of static but no Crackling sounds.
When I turn up the music its clear with no crackling sound , its Only when making a phone call through the speaker phone.
I even tried to plug in earphones while making a call, and its perfectly clear, which sort of rules out static or reception.
The only thing I am wondering is if the small speaker at the bottom of the phone has two built in speakers within One speaker, one for the Music and one for the Speakerphone would be the only thing logical I could think of.
I think the static noise is always there but you can only hear it when it's quiet or the volume is low. There should only be one speaker. If you put your finger over it you should be able to figure out which one it is. I think the static noise it's a software problem does anyone have any idea?
Hi, I am also facing same trouble, so could you let me know how you resolve it?
I had this problem before. It should be a software issue. I was about to send it in for repair so I did a master reset of everything. The problem went away.. Saved me a trip.
Hello.
When i choose ringtone i hear stereo speakers but when my phone ringing is working only bottom speaker and is not so loud. Please help !
Well got a post before that happens to me to. Also when on loud speaker is the same don't know why but looks like a software issue not hardware.
But can any confirm that s9 plus is ringing with stereo speakers. I ask support and answer been " This is normal, s9 plus is ring with only bottom speaker."
Today i update software and i try again.
When phone is in the deks ring with stereo speakers and when i get it in hand stop top speaker and stay only bottom.
I thing its ok now.
Hi. When the phone is on the table both of the speakers have sound during the ringing at the incoming call, but when I touch it the bottom speaker doesn't work. Will be corrected?
same issue on my 2 sam s9 plus,,,,,,,, way< samsung way ?
can confirm it's only using bottom speaker while ringing.
It's to protect people's ears. Imagine if a tech illiterate person picked up the phone and didn't realise they had My pressed "Answer" and put the earpiece to their ear while it's ringing on full volume. The speaker does put out some sound but it's not at a high volume and turns off completely when the proximity sensor is obstructed.
Hi!
Got this little nagging issue that is bothering me. At work I use a bluetooth Jabra65 headset. Problem is I don´t wear on my head all the time (talkin to coworkers, listening to audio through speakers etc) and have them around my neck. When doing this I keep missing calls since the ring signal is played through the headset (which I´m not wearing) and not through the phone speaker.
I really would like the ring signal to be played BOTH on the phone and through the bluetooth headset. Any way to set this up? I´ve tried all the audio and bluetooth settings I could find on the Mate 10p but no success. Thanks for any advice.
Lo and behold! Just half an hour after I posted above I got a call and got loud and clear signal on both phone and in headphones . Magic! ....or maybe the upgrade to android10 that landed last night?
