My Atom stucks in Update Utility mode ! I flash almost roms available ! I can complete but still stuck ! Any idea ? Please help me !!!
1 Remove your sim and sd card.
2 Press "Power" + "Action" + "Soft Reset" to enter the BootLoader
3 Connect to the pc via usb cable
4 Run Atom Upgrade utility again.

i have the same problem..did you solve your problem? if you did, please tell me how to fix this problem...stuck in update utility screen...
You have only one choice. And that is to return your Atom for repair. Mine was actually replaced with a new one 8)

Guys, dont worry. You have to be patient.
I had the same problem and following O2 Support suggestion
I returned it to their service center .
Now forty (40) days later I a still waiting for something that had a max turnaround of five working days.
take battery out - start update utility and stop at screen before it starts to install.
put battery in and connect to pc and then click continue
worked for me a while ago... i was just listing steps from my memory so i couldve written something wrong there
The steps are not clear :roll: Do you take battery out and connect atom to pc before starting update utiliy?
you take the battery out so the atom shuts down completely
and then you turn it on/plug it in and immediately run the rom upgrade
if you want to solve this problem use anther pc to upgrade your O2 ATtom
because the problem in your PC not pocket ( A atom) .

I tried on three different laptops and it still did the same...would not finish flashing radio rom and now stuck in utility update black screen...any other ways to repair this problem?
ok had this happen to me a few times, seriously cant tell u what worked but keep trying to do soft boot and boot loader, and battery removal and reboot the computer, then try update again...
Each time it happened to me i had to try and try and after a while (maybe its a time thing) it worked amazingly enuff.......i was told to take it back to store, but perserverance won out!!.....
i figured if i have to take it back i have nothing to lose so i tried all the solutions and eventually it responds........

I've been fighting with my Atom for a few days and found a fairly reliable solution for the failure to complete the upgrade. I take out my SD card remove the Battery and the SIM, replace the battery and the unit goes into Update Utility. I then connect it to my PC and the USB connected appears on the Atom screen.
I am then able to run the upgrade utility at which point my Atom was previously running. In my case the upgrade that was released in February Xda-Atom-ENG-20060123.exe, this runs through without issue and my Atom is installed cleanly again.
Running a subsequent upgrade, it hangs again in the Update Utility again, but I can restore to the previous version successfully and have done repeatedly.

Hello neilB. Could u, or anybody, tell me where I could find ROM such as yours? I wanna try it to my Atom. Perhaps, God helps me, I could "cure" my Atom which is stuck at "Update Utility" and when I flash its ROM, never pass stage 5.

Please go through this I had the same problem, but remeber to follow the instructions precisely as if u do not follow the same procedure u will not be able to correct the problem:

Hi Guyz
I'm trying to upgrade my friends O2 ATOM to any new software .
the problem is that when it reaches RADIO UPDATE
it stays on 0%
PDA Screen says ( UPDATE RADIO STACK ,,,, PLEASE WAIT ... )
IF I REMOVE THE USB CONNECTION , THE ATOM STICKS ON WINDOWS SCREEN , AND SOMETIMES ON SCREEN ALIGNMENT .
i tried three different roms ad got the same result , even thru BOOTLOADER screen, it is very imbarresing , as i promised him a better performance device , now it is not booting .

just keep flashing the device, it fails sometimes on the first flash at the radio section, simply disconnect it and then reflash it for the 2nd time.
How long you've wait the process?
I've upgrade my atom more then 10 times and when in Radio Updates it's also not showing the progress as what you've seen.
But it doesn't mean the process is stopping. Just wait and the process will finished. (Usually in it shows the progress in your PDA screen)
Don't unplug your usb cable before it finished.
unfortunatly i had to unplug the ATOM
now it gives only one massege

did i brick it ?
for me, I'd take out battery a while and then connect USB and try to flash with wm5 rom like "Xda-Atom-ENG-20060105" (you can found on this forum under "Collection of All O2 XDA ATOM ROM AKU *** (WM5(2*->3*) & WM6 (0.3*->0.7*))" post).
And then upgrade to wm6 rom by ... jiggs, homer285 & udayrulz .....

Just keep flashing the device.. take a bit longer time and then will complete the updating ....

Allow the projected 30 mins for the update, if you plan to update via SD Card be sure to read, ALOT! good luck, oh you could have a little read in the Atom Wiki too.
could be your cable or connection?
ATOM ROM update problem
I had the same problem & tried different ways explained in this thread.
No success.
I tried with old original ROM and all new ROMs as well, it stucked on updating RADIO BURN message on computer and ATOM displays Updating RADIO STACK.
I tried removing battery and kept for some times and tried back but same result. Please anyone can help me
i had this problem also. i was unable to reflash my atom. It stuck at the same screen as what the previous user described. At first, the touch screen failed and there isnt any GSM, as in under wireless manager, "phone" isnt there.. E.g There should be Wifi, Phone and Bluetooth in wireless manager.. But sometimes after some soft reset with the taking out of battery, the gsm comes back together with the touchscreen. But this occurred quite frequently until i decided to re-flash it.
Im using the official rom of Xda-Atom-ENG-20060426-MOT0822.. Is there any way to solve this problem?

try to update to any WM6 or if you still want the WM5, there are a lot of ROM
's available. I had this tradgic experience aswell with o2 default ROM. Im contented with the WM6 although no a2dp support yet =)

i'll agree with the others, better change USB cable as well =) It could be faulty you can use cable from canon digicam/motorola phones et. al.
I would suggest reflashing the ROM with cooked ROM's available here like WM6 or WM5 if you still want to stick with it. o2 default ROM gives me a headache before. No1 rule before upgrading ROM...... Read the WIKI hehehehe

Hope u can also flash 'OS+EBoot' part of it and then after ur Atom Exec restarts u can go in bootloader and flash the original WM5 from O2 ‘Xda-AtomExec-ENG-20060614_R060428N_EX0028.exe’.

Helpful tip, just hard reset your Atom Life and proceed with upgrade. I used this way after 5 times of unsuccessful tries, after I hard reset, it works!
For every unsuccessful try, I learned so much on how to restore my Atom life from dead device. send me a PM if you need help, hope my solution will work also on you. I will try to detail my experiences and post it here if I have time.

I tried to upgrade my ATOM and after running the ROM upgrade, it is stucked in 0% Stage 4. After an hour, I pulled out the cable and tried to restart the device but it gives me a screen "DSUU". I press the record button+reset and removed the SD Card and choose the option 1 (Start OS) and it gives me a revived status but not Text Message option. I tried again and again and it is the same. Last time i tried, I left my device overnight and nothing happened. But when I pulled out the cable and restart the device, it starts just like before and it gives me the original screen and setup and nothing happened to my ROM Upgrade.
I tried again the upgrade by resetting first the ATOM life into factory settings (HARD RESET) and run the upgrade and everything runs smoothly. Now, everything is fixed, and upgraded and I reinstall again the themes, screens that I want.

Yes, I am using O2 ATOM Life running in WM6 (ROM Source - seeo2.com)
hi guys... im using an Atom Life Limited Red... Im trying to flash it with this ROM: (Atom Life WM6.5 build 23001).. Did all the things necessary like copying the rom file AL1.DIO into my 2gb memory card thats been formated to Fat16 and without any files in it..
Now after Holding the rec button and pressing the reset button, it start to detect my memory card, then updating its image from 0-100%. But after 100% and its now saying
**Mini-SD Update Image OK**%) its been taking a while to reboot it up.. i mean awhile like an 30mins to 1hr..
I really don;t know whats wrong.. tried downloading the ROM 3x already.. and its still the same... stock on 100% OK!..
Hope someone here can help and lend me a hand plsss...

Drawanimation.exe Error on Atom Life.. HELP pls..
And guys, now that i have force the phone (Atom Life) to reboot after the stock-up in 100% flashing... I Noticed that whenever i turn off/Shut Down my Device, its going to dispaly a popup error about 'Drawanimation.exe'.
"The file 'Drawanimation' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problems persist, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
Thats the error msg that pop-ups everytime im going to turn off my atom life..
Tried also some different ROMs like the Winmo6.1 OS 5.2.20924. The error still te same: hangs/stock on 100% and the Drawanimation.exe.
Hoping that somebody could give me a solution here please guys...

i have pb in hd leo of my freind ,hang in htc logo and i can enter to
bootloader mode
i make hardspl with spl 1.42,1.66,2.08 and 3.03
and flach with different rom 1.43fr ,1.66fr.rom artemis.3.14fr ,flach failed in 8%
with cale usb with erreur "invalid command"
and with microsd "update failed"
the only flach is completed with rom artemis but same problem
i try with task29 but same pb

What do you want to do on the phone, do you want to flash a different rom, do you want to put it back to stock what do you want to do?

Try to do this...
First try to charge the battery without to power up the device.
Seconnd put the phone in a plastic bag and place it for a hour to the freezer without the
battery. After that take it out and quickly try to flash a stock rom inclunding radio rom via microsd or a pc.
If you succeed to flash the rom then probably your phone suffer from "HD2 Thermal Issue" Read here and you will understand.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982454&highlight=thermal+issue.
