hi all,
i am running the modaco 2.3 rom very well which has the aps2sd built in.
i have partitioned my sd card correctly and know that all is working ok (when i pull out the sd card the programs don't work)
SO why is it when i install new programs the phone's internal memory still drops??? i thought maybe cache files but i use the TA utility to move cache to sd.
any ideas??
thanks!!

Hey all,
Running the MC2.2 ROM and didn't realise that APP2SD required a reformatting of the card before it could be used, I'd like to start putting this to some good use so as I understand the process to partition the card will require wiping it, is there a way for me to back up the contents of the card? I could obviously copy the entire contents to my PC but where would I copy it back to once the partitioning is finished? Or would it be best to just copy off my media then uninstall/reinstall all apps from the market which will then appear on my card in the appropriate place?
Also is there anything else that needs doing on the phone to enable APP2SD or just having the MC2.2 ROM and inserting a correctly formatted card will do the trick?
Thanks
Russ
Hi there.
I´ve searched this forum, but I didn't find a reasonable answer, which I fully understood.
I flashed Megatron a couple of weeks ago, with some enhancements, I did the regular survey, everythings working fine, except of A2SD or the SD card partition.
I've got low memory message all the time, and only when a few programs installed and most of them moved to sd card(if possible), I can't install more... It's really anoying.
Is the partition really working? And how can I find out?
Do you guys have any idea what could be my problem and how to fix that?
Thank you
instal void echo rom , its way better than megatron and no probs
You mean you recently installed it and all of a sudden you get a memory low error? Maybe the a2sd scripts failed to move /data/app to the sdcard. Just a hunch.
I mean maybe the a2sd card didnt function from the beginning... But I mentioned it after I installed applications.
And what happen with the a2sd when I unmount an SD card, or when I boot with a SD card mount problem(It happedn, I had to put it out and back on)?
Can I partiton that again without flashing a new rom? I tried that, using custom recovery, so I made a backup, then I wiped the ext memory, made a partition of: swap 0, ext 1024 and then I upgraded to ex3 and ext4... But when I booted up, there is the same internal memory, but less space on SD card.. So the partition is there, but mind not mounted....
So i downloaded APPS2SD from the market... and i transfered aquapets and plants vs zombies onto my sd card... cuz my titanium backup wasnt working for some reason. So i thought that if i flashed a new rom....since the apps are on my sd card they would reappear on the new rom... but they didnt... how do i get the apps back? i opened apps2sd to see if they were on the sd card... and they dont show up on the sd card.. HELP!!!
originally, before froyo, apps2sd required an ext2 3 or 4 partition on your SD card to be used so that when you flashed a new rom, without formatting the previously mentioned ext partition, your apps would reappear on boot. with the addition of apps2sd in froyo things work differently so when flashing a new rom, you need to redo your apps.
titanium backup is your best friend in this scenario.
Hi!
After installing and playing around with some Roms, I found out, that
the internal memory is full.
I have found several informations about handling the internal memory thing - but I don't know which one is the right answer for Legend.
I used app2sd to install/move all apps to SD Card, but the internal memory still gets full.
Then I found a post in which one says that it's needed to make a ext partition on the SD Card to make it work right.
Can anybody tell me, what is the best way of getting more internal space?
I use the [ROM][RC3][24.07.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1 - which works perfect - only the memory is strange.
I also made WIPE and Factory Reset before flashing this Rom.
Thank you!

best you can use apps2ext by darktremor, i have also used it on this rom and it works
some quick instructions;
-backup your sd card manually in windows/mac/linux, because making an ext partition on your sd card will delete all your files on sd card
-use clockworkmod 3 to partition your sd card, you can chose different sizes (i use 250mb and its enough) and you need only an ext partition ,cwm3 can be found here
-restore your files back on the sd card (previously backuped)
-flash darktremor (link above)
-restart phone
that sould be it
Thank you, workes fine. Should I IDE LOW Memory option?

I have flashed DarkTremor. But how exactly do I know if it is working? I converted my SD Card from ext2 to ext3 and I still can't move applications over. My internal storage space is still less than 20MB. Can anybody offer any assistance please?
Thanks

theres an app on the market which controles darktremor's script, just search for "darktremor" on the market its free, and see what is using your internal memory and if darktremor is even working
remember, your cache is still on internal memory and your text messages etc are to
Blayo's kernel has data 2 ext support so you can run a ext partion as your internal memory. I would suggest a class 10 for it though

out of my experience and the words of TheGrammarFreak (who made the data2ext script for cyanogenmod), data2ext is faster in benchmarks but slow in real use
and a class 4 sd is the best (words of TheGrammarFreak)
so out of my experience don't use data2ext but use apps2ext
Droid X2 on Eclipse 2.3 (now on CM10)
with a 32GB Sandisk (link to: ht tp://goo.gl/ h9Mai (remove spaces))
My phone has become very slow, so i decided to reinstall Eclipse, so I booted into recovery, wiped the data and cache then tried to install Eclipse. within a few seconds, it came up with an error saying that the file was bad. I rebooted the phone and reformatted the SD card, now the internal storage ( in Settings>Storage settings) now only gives me the option to format internal storage and the SD card gives me the option of formatting or mounting the card. There is also a notification saying Preparing internal storage, Checking for errors. I selected the Format SD card and after it finished formating, it now says that the card only has 4.3GB of storage. Any suggestions or Fixes?
The Bootstrap Recovery can read the two memories without any issues, and i did a SBF back to 2.3.4 and had the same issue
I Just installed CM10 and the problem persists, The SD card says insert a sd card for mounting (it is inserted) and the Internal storage says Mount SD card

If it gives you the option to mount the SD card, do so. It's my understanding that after reformatting the SD card you have to mount it for it to be used with your phone.
Unmounted means your SD card is in your phone, but not connected to anything so you can safely remove it. Mounted means your SD card is in your phone AND it is integrated into the phone's system and can be used for data storage.
And possibly adding to your confusion is that Eclipse has a mod called SD card flip-flop, which reverses the naming of your internal storage and external SD card. Check out this link that explains it in depth http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229294
Cyanogen Roms do not use the SD Card flip-flop mod, and they also name the storage locations slightly different than the stock Rom.
Thank you, but as it turns out the SD card it self is not working. I plunged it in to my computer with an SD card adapter and it didn't show up. I assume that the card has become corrupt, so I will be replacing it. Their is one thing that confuses me however, and Is how bootstrap recovery is capable of reading the card, but the phone when booted normally or the computer can not.

And for future knowledge, you cannot flash a ROM over CM10. Theres an issue that CM10 has with flashing ROMs. Other stuff flashes fine. Just not ROMs. So that would explain why you had a problem flashing Eclipse when you were on CM10. The right process is to SBF and start over or restore a nandroid backup of Ice Cream Sandwich or Gingerbread and go from there. On top of that, Eclipse is on 2.3.5 while every other ROM is on 2.3.4. So flashing a 2.3.5 ROM on 2.3.4 will also not work.
