Has anyone held down the power key and shutdown then phone, then turned it on and some of the apps have non-friendly names? ie xxxx.xxxx.xxx.com or what not? Some just plain don't work. Why did this happen? My fault or app''s for not shutting down correctly?

After an upgrade to dcd latest ROM 2.2.6 and Radio I have found that when my phone sleeps or I turn it off it doesn’t always turn back on I need to soft reset it. I am even tried an earlier Rom version 2.2.1 and still the problem.
This is a Telecom New Zealand phone and as for normal practice they don't give out their Rom's so I can't just flash back
With some playing I think I have tracked it down to only causing this issue when my data push is enabled ie, don't sync up to an exchange server and the phone works fine.
I am aware from other posts there are others out there with the same issue, can you check if this is the same with your phone. Turn off all your data connections and delete your exchange server and see if you phone then behaves.
I know people are saying it could be the Bootloader but if the above is the cause then I don't think it is in the loader and maybe dcd can help us track it.
I have tracked this problem down to when activesync does a Microsoft Direct puch while the phone is in standby. To connect to our work's mail server we need to also create a VPN connection (not using SSL) as long as I put in a wrong name or password causing activesync never to be able to sync then the power button turns the phone on everytime. If I also connect and sync (while phone is on) then dissconnet my VPN and and change password then the phone still works fine.
Does anyone has any idea where I should be looking, as I would like to have my Direct push email working.
Sorry to jack your thread, but I have a very similar problem. Sometimes when my phone goes on standby when I'm on the phone and my conversation is finished. I cant power back on my phone either. The green light still flashes, but the power button does nothing! Anyone have that same problem?
I've also had this problem. When I press the power button the phone would enter standby mode and when I pressed it again it wouldn't wake up. The only way around it I found for my phone is to install S2U2 and set it so it activates when the backlight turns off. That seems to catch it before it whatever happens to not let the phone wake up happens. So now when I press the power button, the screen cuts off and S2U2 opens. Hope this helps.
I have similar problems. Maybe I'll try using S2U2 ...
Same problems, doesn't seem to wake up if it goes to sleep while VPN is running... any fix?
I had the same issue when I flashed my ROM with the USB connection. It could be the bootloader. because I then used the SD card bootloader and re-loaded my ROM from the SD card and it resolved the issue.
I would recommend reinstalling from the SD card using the no2chem.
Has anyone experienced their phone freezing/locking up? I'm not talking about lagging/freezing applications, but the whole phone actually locking up.
My phone seems to be freezing up about twice a week and has been for the last 3 weeks. Each time it has been when the device was in my pocket or on charge at night (and subsequently the alarm does not go off).
When the device is frozen like this, it has no indications of even having power. The power button will not turn the phone off, on, or wake the device. Plugging the phone into power doesn't even turn the orange/green charging lights on, nor play the tone for when power is connected.
I physically have to remove the battery for a few seconds from the phone and re-insert before the phone will start up. I have even performed a hard reset on this device.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm thinking that it might be a hardware fault, or at a really wild guess maybe the HTC Attentive App.
I'm having no problems with crashing or freezing!
I have actually found the device to be very stable, a lot nicer cleaner and stable than my previous device (Sony Ericsson Xperia X10).
Had exactly that problem a couple of times already. The only solution is to pull the battery out.
Still - better than an iPhone crash which requires you to plug it back into the PC before it will work again.
I had a similar situation:
I was making an international call (card service), when finished i heared the card IVR prompt if i need to make another call. I wanted to hang up but the screen was black adn dead. power button did not bring into life and i was keep on hearing the active call. had to take the battery out to kill this situation.
typically windows behaviour
Thought I had narrowed this down to the HTC attentive app, but alas the phone froze again this morning after hitting snooze 3 or 4 times. Oddly enough, the power button would turn the screen on and off, but the lock screen wouldn't show, nor could anything be moved or controlled on the screen (live tiles were still animated though). Battery pull again.
Yeah, typical windows behavior. No where near as bad as Windows Mobile which I came from though
I have the same issue. Can be in the middle of a call or anything. Had it reboot once while on charge too. Did you just remove the attentive app? Would it be worth trying a Hard Reset if that wipes the device. If so how easy is it to put your old Apps back on. Or do I need to write a list and search manually.
I did a hard reset and just didn't install the app again.
"When you buy or download apps from the Zune PC client, those apps are automatically redownloaded to the phone when you reset the device and login with your Windows Live ID again. When you download apps from the phone itself, you have to go to the Marketplace again to manually find and redownload the apps you want."

Hey,
my gfs Ace is showing some very strange behaviour. At random times when she tries to use it it just won't react to anything. Neither home nor power button unlock the screen, holding power button doesn't do anything (neither turn on nor off). Adb won't connect to the phone. All one can do is remove the battery, after that it'll let you turn it on and work just fine.
Happens like every 2 days and so far I couldn't spot any pattern. Firmware is 2.3.4 KPH
Is anyone else seeing this or any idea what could be causing it?
Yes, it's called SOD (sleep/standby of death) and it happenes to me sometimes and some other people i know that have ACEs...there's no fix i'd know about..yet
does it happen with any firmware or was it just introduced? any idea whether it's just some bad phones so she could get a different without the bug?
HEy guys i have a question
what could cause the phone to fully freeze? am not talking about the phone hanging then waking up after a while, no am talking about the phone just completely freezing with the touch buttons on and nothing you do can change that except a hard reboot. nothing works on it anymore and the screen stays on no matter what you do
There is a card game, that everytime i specifically use this game, the phone freezes, i checked with the dev but he says it wasnt reported before. i tried to get the log, but it is cleared after the restart. So any idea what i can do? The phone does not feeze on any other game no matter how graphic intense they are.
I am on stock cm9 stable with stock kernel, but it is not really rom related coz i tried it on stock, cm9, and cm10 and it was the same for all cases.
(plz dont say : just dont play the game, am only asking out of curiousity )
also l have similar ,l bought batman game, some times the game is stopped,l dont know what is the problem
my issue is that not just the game freezes, the whole phone is frozen, the screen wont turn off, no buttons are working anymore, the home, power and vol butttons stop doing anything and the back and menu buttons are lit on, but they dont work either, they dont vibrate or anything.
I even tried showing cpu status on the screen, and it was all normal and still the phone got stuck...
any ideas on how to debug this is very welcome
I installed Android Lost and I was thinking of preventing shut down when phone is locked, but there are implications. but how about an auto restart or turn on at a particular time if the phone has been shut down, any ideas?
this is about hardware desigh, in my memory only sybian os phone can do that.
