T Mobile G2 - Streaming .ASF link - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys
Just picked this up today after having Windows Mobile phones for the past few years.
Been searching for hours, and not sure I am going to hear what I want, but is it possible to play a .asf file on these phones.
I listen to the Horse Racing commentary on my Vario III, by putting into the browser, audio.teamtalk.com/ladbrokes. This then boots up media player which plays Labrokes Live, which is audio.teamtalk.com/ladbrokes/?MSWMExt=.asf.
This is not recognised on the phone and I cannot find any application that would.
Beginning to wonder if I have gone for the wrong phone.

Has any gotten Rhapsody To Go working on their mogul????

been searching the forum and came across cases where some owners of PPCs have gotten WMP to transfers DRM music downloaded from Rhapsody on to their PPCs.
I subscribe to RTG and tried to transfer downloaded DRM protected music to my mogul's SD but had no luck. WMP can't sync "Windows Media Player cannot sync the file because the device needs to be updated"
The WMDRM, MSMETADATA, and PLAYLIST folders were created so i know the SD was prepared for DRM music but i can seem to get it to work on the mogul.
maybe it's not compatible how did those other people get it to work??
I will tell you from my own personal experience, DRM content does work on the Mogul. I work for Napster's call center and I am able to get my music from Napster to my Mogul, very easily! Napster recognizes it, and the card, then all I have to do is transfer to the storage card and I'm done. Don't even have to use Windows Media Player.
Just FYI, you might want to check it out. 7-day trial available during registration. Make absolutely sure you get Napster To Go.
EDIT: Please remember, the phone is not officially supported by Napster. If you can't get it to work, there is nothing that anyone in the call center can do, so please do not call looking for support.

now i'm jealous. who's rom/version are you using? did you need to prep the device or SD before you could transfer the music?
anyone done this with rhapsody?
I've been using rhapsody to go for some time. Works very well with a bluetooth enabled car stereo.
In rhapsody, you should have two devices listed:
One for your phone itself
One for the memory card
You need to put at least one song on the phone itself so that it licenses the phone to accept the drm. Since I like to use songs for ringtones, dropping the selected song to the phone will usually do the trick. After that, I use the memory card for the main storage of music.
Hope this helps
Haha...napster....the original CEO of napster, shawn fanning, was my roommate in college at Northeastern. I remember him sitting in our room for hours and hours developing the original napster...i miss the original napster lol.
Napster got its name from his nappy hair, which is why he always wore a hat.

What rom are you using?
ME: WinXP SP2, WMP11, Lastest Rhapsody....DCD 3.0.1
is WMDRM supported in DCD's 3.0.1?
My computer is "Authorized" already
I plugin my mogul
I start Rhapsody. It's finds and scans the PDA and Storage Card.
There is a WMA file on the device.
The WMDRM files and folders are created on the PDA and Storage Card
In Rhapsody, I try to drag a song from my library to the Storage card and get
"You cannot transfer this subscrition content because this device is not a subscrition device"...blah blah blah...pay. I already pay $15/mo
There's no option to "Authorize" my mogul...What exactly did you do to get it to work? what rom are you using?
ROM's really have nothing to do with it. It just recognizes it as a Windows Mobile device, and the rest goes from there. You can use any ROM with any configuration.
Give it a shot, let me know your username and I'll make sure everything goes smoothly on the back-end.
Rhapsody has worked OK (complaints below) for me on the three different devices I've tried (1 Mogul, 2 Touch's).
The particular ROM you are running can make a difference, as some custom ROMs leave out Lockstream DRM.
In my experience Rhapsody's online player is great. The software that you have to run to download music on the other hand has given me nothing but headaches. In my experience it is buggy, bloated, unresponsive crap. I've spent hours troubleshooting issues (some might be related to Vista, but come on, it's been out for a long time now), uninstalling/reinstalling Lockstream components, etc. And for some reason it never recognizes my storage cards the next time I try to transfer music. I have to deauthorize the card in my account settings, and then reathorize it in order to transfer music. There are just way to many issues for it to be a useful service for most people. I'll probably give it another month, but I will likely be looking into trying Napster and some others if their selection is comparable to Rhapsody.
I use rhapsody on my Mogul/XV6800 with no issues. I just plugged it in, authorized it, and started adding music.

I FIXED IT!!!!!
looks like I have to install MS-KB929399 DRM hotfix. I can authorize now...
BUT now i have another problem!!!
after a few seconds of playing the song it stops and i get..."Not enought storage space is available to complete the operation"
I got 142MB free space in my rom and 350mb free in my SD...this would happen to any file i played in MediaPlayer..
Is it talking about RAM?

There is a useful guide including:1. How to free download DRM Music 2. How to convert the DRM music to play them with any players.

Thanks, but those methods currently no longer work in XP
MS and Rhapsody are pushing a different version of the DRM IBX in XP and the keys can't be retrieved with those methods anymore.
(are we allowed to talk about this on XDA forum)
Anyway i got Rhapsody to work with my mogul.
Rhapsody + HTC Audio Manager + 8GB SDHC + Dopod remote control + Sony Fontopias + SRS WOW HD = pretty decent portable music player
but this thing has some serious issues with RAM...64MB SUX!!!
can't multitask with the Audio Manager running..even WMP has problems with running out of RAM
There are legitimate reasons to want to strip the DRM from protected Rhapsody tracks. The lack of a universal DRM system means that iPods, etc. can't play the Rhapsody tracks that you legally have the license to use. Granted, stripping the DRM is not legal, but morally I don't have a problem with it in this case. If you were to keep using the files after canceling your subscription that would be another story of course.
All that said, I've been using a program called MuvAudio to "strip" the DRM from my Rhapsody tracks. It actually doesn't strip anything, but instead runs the file through your sound card and digitally records the output into a new (and not copy-protected) MP3. The benefit of this system is that anything you can play on your PC can be converted into an unprotected MP3/WMA/etc. All the tag data (artist, album, year, etc) is preserved, and it will even search for and attach album art. I was a little worried there would be some quality loss, but it turns out that is not an issue. The quality of the MP3 output is excellent. The program can also be set to monitor your Rhapsody download folder so that new downloads are automatically converted. The best part is that you can get the program for free with TrialPay. Basically, you sign up for a trial of some other, unrelated service, and you get a free license for MuvAudio. You can then cancel your trial of the other service without ever paying a dime. Pretty cool. And now my wife can load up her iPod with Rhapsody tracks.
Now if Rhapsody would only offer a Pocket PC client so that I could bypass my PC all together...

Analog rips aren’t really what I want, I may sound like a stickler for quality but I can notice the difference, especially with high quality headphones or rips using low quality sound cards
But this automatic monitoring and converting sounds intriguing…I’m gonna give it a try

New to android, is the following possible?

Hello
First post here, and my first android phone incoming.
I have always been heavily been invested in apple products, but im getting tired of them.
So now i finally made the jump, sold my ip4 and orderd a galaxy s2.
But my ht setup is kinda the way i like it now, so im gonna to ask some questions.
I have a bunch of mkvs on my pc, i do have a TV with allshare/dlna. But im wondering if its possible to use like metadata agent with scrapes all the moveis i have on my PC/network. So i can view the movie info etc on my android phone, then send the movie from my pc to my tv trough the phone, if you know what i mean.
Its kinda hard to explain, but its quite important to me.
I use plex now on my ipad 2, it scrapes from my pc and sends it from the ipad to the tv using airplay.
I guess mvideoplayer cant access movies/files on the network, i see that its metadata support, i like covers, info etc.
Sorry for all the rambling, but to summarize (since i know nothing about android).
Is there a way to stream content (which is on the pc/network) through my phone to my allshare/dlna TV, trough an app that shows metadata.
First, of all, welcome to Android.
You will not regret the move from iOS to Android.
I think this is what you are asking about. The following is from the Galaxy 2 website:
"AllShare
Show off? Why not when it’s this easy. AllShare lets the Samsung GALAXY S II link wirelessly with a TV, laptop or even audio system to play multimedia files directly from the phone. AllShare synchronizes the phone with a compatible DLNA based product. So start the streaming to the big screen in HD. That’s media convergence made simple!"

If it's plex from plexapp.com you are using on your ipad it's available for android in the market for $4.99

[Q] Getting 1080P movies to PS3?

Hello. Just bought my third HTC phone and I am very happy with it. The 1080P video sounds especially appealing. I saw there was an HDMI adapter which I mentioned to the sales guy and he said that his girlfriend had one(of the phones) and their TV (which has wifi) automatically picked it up. If I am going to take good HD videos it would be great to send them over wifi to my PS3 (preferably) or my computer with a media server on it to watch them easily. I have heard of an app called awesome drop but everything I have seen is getting media ONTO the phone, not off. I know I could just USB to my computer (and maybe even ps3?) but since it can be on my wifi network it would seem there was some way to easily just push the video wirelessly to watch. I know this isn't specific to the Amaze so if you think I will get better answers I can move to a more general Android area. Thanks always XDA.
Also in the same vein is there some app to just directly move any files freely between the phone and my computer (and maybe even ps3?) over wifi? TY

I use iMediaShare Premium to stream videos stored on my device to my XBox 360. I can also stream Youtube and several other services as well. All connect via wifi.
There's a program called PS3 Media Server that is awesome. I haven't yet tried streaming amaze videos, but I will tonight. THis app is very light weight and streams really well. I have yet to have any problems, but I've only streamed some relatively low bandwidth 4:3 video over wireless.
I stream video to my Xbox 360 using an app called Twonky, It's in the Android Market, nice and easy. Let me know if it works for you.

Is Sprint blocking WMA streaming?

I have been noticing I believe Sprint is blocking us from streaming WMA to our phones. On TuneIn Radio, I listen to a set of stations all owned by the same company, and they all stream in WMA. They will not play over the 3G Network. However, as soon as I connect to Wifi, they fire right up. Whereas any other station being streamed in MP3, AAC, etc... all fire right up on 3G. Anyone confirm or deny this? If you would like to try for yourself, and let me know what you come up with, the station I listen to is in the TuneIn app under Missouri, Columbia, and the station is 96.7 KCMQ. Would appreciate help.

Yes!, you are right!. I have the same experience!. I don't know if Sprint is blocking but since a month or so I have trouble getting some stations that I used to listen before.
Why would Sprint block WMA and no other type? Maybe it's just a bug? Sounds a little weird but you never know.

I've been looking for an answer to this problem for a couple of months.
It's not Sprint because my wife's Samsung Epic does not have this problem! It was fine on my HTC EVO until about 2 months ago, then I was no longer able to stream. Having the same problem on my new EVO LTE. Is this problem isolated to HTC???
No, because I had the same problem on my Samsung galaxy touch 4g also
I don't think so; I'm listening to a radio station on TuneIN right now that says it is streaming WMA.
OK, was troubleshooting this on the Android forum when I stumbled on a fix. Someone asked me if I could stream Youtube and Sprint TV. When I checked on Sprint TV, I was prompted to install an update. After that, TuneIn started streaming my radio station. You guys might give that a try and see if it works? I never use Sprint TV so I guess I would have never gotten that update otherwise.

I did what you did and did not worked for me. still having the same problem. I sended an error report to tunein and see what happen...
Just got word from tunein radio that they are aware of the problem and are working on it. They except to fix the problem on the next update.

I don't know if my problem is related to this, but there's a station I used to listen to that is only available on HD Radio and online, and found that they're playing on TuneIn radio. Problem is, I can find it on TuneIn, but when I see it, the station icon isn't showing, and when I play the station, it goes to a completely different station (not even sure if it's in my area).

[Q] Way to control separate app volumes? (game and music)

Hi i recently got the galaxy s5. ( i love the phone, but pissed about knox). anyway i am on public transit a lot and listen to my music and play games at the same time. well recently i got final fantasy 6 and there is no in game volume control(with seams like it would be a obvious thing to include). so when i turn it down, it turns down media which is both the music and the game. this completely kills the game for me as my music takes priority when i am on the bus. i got the this phone to also replace my falling apart ipod and phone. this seams like such a minor problem i can not solve. any program i can find requires a rooted phone ( with i dont have because of gay ass knox security)
