Is there a 3rd-party SW that can replace Office Mobile for non-touchscreen smartphones?
I am looking for a program that would fulfill at least the minimal requirements (such as basic editing, or for Excel, basic calculation) but still be compatible to MS Office on the desktop
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the prompt resonse !
Have DL the trial version but can't get it to work on the S740 (except for Excel which passes). Apparently, they support the S710 only
Anything else?
I tried on S740 and it worked well.. but the weird thing is i cant seem to install it on the storage card.
That's interesting; how did you do it? Above all, how do you handle the split screen in keyboard mode?
Which version did you use?
The version i used was 3.0010.
What do you mean by splitscreen in keyboard mode ?
When I go to keyboard mode, I get a screen that is split in two

I don't see that.. its working perfectly on my device.
May be there is a difference because my phone is the German language version

With Office Mobile (Word, Excel), you can create new docs, edit...
On pc, create empty word document, copy it to device and open with Word Mobile. Then right soft-key and chose EDIT... If you are done, right soft-key, File-Save As... Write name of doc and save. Thats all.
I know all that, korenisko; and that's not the issue.
The problem is that the functionality of Office Mobile for non-touchscreens is laughable; the most rudimentary functions, such as cut & paste are not possible.
If you want to use the device in its full potential, a replacement of Office Mobile is called for

Hi all!
Have recently upgraded to the G2 from a HTC Diamond. So far so good, but I have a few questions that I dont seem to be able to find via search.
Can you set all the keys to wakeup the device instead of just the power button?
Can you set xt9 as default input for SMS messages only. I know how to set xt9 but it seems to do this globally. I just want it for the SMS section
Is there a program like mymobiler that allows you to use your Android via a PC. This is especially useful at work when typing SMS.
Thanks for the help guys

all keys DO already wake up the device....well, almost. the home, call, end call and menu buttons do. To wake it up just press menu twice.
no. i don;t think you can.
not just yet i don't think. or not that i know of anyway.
I hope someone develops a similar MyMobiler app soon.
I love using it while I'm at work, can just put my phone down and text away without anyone seeing me on my phone.
androidscreencast apparently allows to control an Android phone via a PC, but at the moment it works only for rooted phones, because it wants to write to a directory which is normally not writable. That problem is known but a fixed version has not yet been released (but I guess it won't take very long any more).
Hi everybody,
I have a question (or a functionality proposal?) for UrukDroid.
I have a smarphone and an Archos 70IT, but i was asking myself if, with a 3G dongle and some mods, my Archos can do all these things? And if it's possible, how? And if it isn't could I help for it?
Thanks for future answer, and keep up the good work
No, because almost all Data-3G-Sticks have no support for the calling protocols, just data and sometimes SMS...
OK, may be is not all you want... but
maybe yo can... not like mobile, but yes like sip.
with a sip provider, and Fring, you just have got a telephone !!!!!!!
=;-)
@N23, Aouch, so bad, so i can't
So i have to do an app who will allow me to write my SMS with my tablet and send them from my phone (HTC Wildfire)
@julen164, yes, good idea, but that's not what i want :s
if you want SMS service aswell....
voxigo it is a voip service with sms too
=;-)
No, i want to send my SMS from my phone (i'm unlimited ^^)
(I think i'll have to make an app for that, so ... i'll do ^^)
I don't unerstand you.
what you want?
if you want a telephone service + sms service in your A70,
voxigo has an android app, running like a voip telephone, and you can send sms too, with that app, so you have a full telephone (VOiP) in your A70.
If you want to send SMS, with your actual telephone (mobile) number, send it with your actual mobile.
In any case, some other voip services, like voipcheap, can send sms with an associated mobile number as sender id.
what else?
=;-)
I want to replace my mobile phone with my tablet (bigger screen).
But if i can't replace all its functions, i want to write my sms with the tablet (bigger screen again)
Is that clearer?
Just now,
I understand your specs......
I have read again your post...
Now I think I understand your necs...
and maybe this app can help you....
http://es.androlib.com/android.application.pl-androiddev-mobiletab-qEttt.aspx
with it, you can conect to your mobile with wifi, fron your A70, and then use your mobile line, to send SMS....
Thats it, no?
It could do the job, but it's a little bit to heavy.
An home made apps would be lighter, an app that will connect the SMSManager from the phone to the tablet, then i just need an app like Handcent and it's done (that's what i hope, i'll try and see ^^)

there is an app that does sms over bluetooth or wifi I think, but I can't recall what it is or if it works between two android devices or only works between your android device and a pc. I know there's a pc to android tool but I have a feeling there's another one which tethers two android devices to do sms.
Pretty sure I'm right cuz I used it on my hero tethered to my galaxy tab (when I still owned a tab).
EDIT: here it is: http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-grrzzz-remotesmsfull-qFij.aspx
I think it has an http server so you can sms over a web browser (which should, in theory, let you do so from your archos - but not the ideal interface for sure).
PM me if you want to discuss the app further since I have it here.
EDIT 2: Never mind! it requires that the phone and controlling device (tablet) be on a wifi network already. I don't know if it would work with an ad-hoc network between the two since I can't ad-hoc on my a101 yet. So this might not be what you need, but I think it's the closest app so far. someone actually posted a comment about it saying that they should write an android client for it too for tablet use. So it seems you and I aren't the only ones who want to do sms from the bigger tablet screen compared to our little phone screens!
Yes the web interface is not the fastest for that (and Android have something to control SMS, so why not using it?). I think the DIY is the best (and, with that i'll learn more about dev on Android ^^)
Hi there,
I have an interesting (in my opinion) topic for my university bachelor work (dunno how to call that correctly in english) - I wanna make an android app which should be able to command PC applications which support OSC (open sound control) messages via wifi. Like tons of apps that are already on the market, but they support only MIDI messages.
Problem is...my droid phone got stolen
So i know there is some kinda Android environment emulator in AndroidSDK, but, does it support wifi connection emulation somehow? Is the development of such thing possible in this way?
I just finished making the first version of this app...[2012/9/5]
PPCC - Stands for [Pocket PC - PC - Controller]...
You now can use your phone as a PC controller..
Here's the review:
Requirements:
a WVGA resolution Windows Mobile(Pocket PC)
.NET CF 3.5
NETCFv35.Messages.EN.cab
GSensor(I can make another version without GSensor..If you can't run this and you need a non-GSensor version, give a feedback here..)
.NET 3.5 on your PC
Features:
Keyboard..
Numeric Keypad
Need For Speed
Simple Gamepad(Call of Duty)
PowerPoint
You can create your own controller with CEditor on PC..
I might release CEditor as soon as my Youtube channel gets more than 100 subscribers..My Youtube Channel
What's not that good:
After running a controller, you can only exit by clicking home button and then use task manager to close it.
Somehow it won't work as good as you expect.. my suggestion is.. use it as a PowerPoint controller or a numeric keypad..That's enough...
Why I made this app ... now??
I think this idea is great.. But due to my poor ability I can only make a Windows Mobile app now.. I hope someone can port this app to other phone devices like Android, iPhone, Windows Phone.. If you can and you're willing to do this.. PM me.. Maybe we can set up a team together...
How to use it?
Install PPCCv1.0.CAB on your phone
Connect the phone to your PC via Bluetooth or USB with Windows Mobile Device Center/Activesync
Open the "PPCC - PCserver.exe" on your PC
Open the PPCC on your phone
Select the controller you want..Done...
And..
I found that something called DroidMote on Android does almost the same thing.. But I knew it from the XDA Portal(on 2012/8/30) a few days after I started making this app.. And I haven't tried out DroidMote or even watched the video demo of it. I keep making this app work in my way. I swear I didn't ever steal zulu99's idea!! Including the CEditor.. I was so suprised that zulu99 had made "Touch Profile Creator" and it looks exactly like what I thought that CEditor was...I'm sad...
