Toshiba menu - TG01 General

Does anyone have a Toshiba menu.I like it. It is much more functional than any other programs such as Manila, Touch Flo and the others. I’ll be very pleased if anyone can extract it from the original software and do it like cab file, that it would be capable for installing in every software.

Windows Mobile 6.1 Base ROM (Testing)

This ROM is deprecated, as the purpose of the ROM was to help test a kitchen. As the kitchen has been released, this ROM will no longer be supported. Please use the kitchen to build a ROM, and report issues there.
Over the past several weeks, in my copious spare time (<-- sarcasm, if you missed it ), I've been working on a more or less vanilla ROM (in this case, vanilla referring to one that is very similar to shipping ROMs). My goal in this case has been slightly different from some of the other ROMs which have popped up here, though: my ultimate goal is to release a suitable ROM kitchen so that users in the Athena forum here can develop ROMs that create their own custom ROMs, rather than having to rely on other people to tweak their ROMs for them.
As a result, this ROM isn't a very interesting ROM in a lot of ways. It's meant to be a test for a solid basic ROM. If this test goes without much in the way of problems (which is what I hope for), in roughly a week, I should be able to release the kitchen for this ROM. At that point, I'd like to see users contribute OEM packages and/or tweaks to make things better. I'd prefer to avoid putting them in the base ROM because not everybody is willing to make the same tradeoffs (like the GlyphCache registry hack which trades memory for display speed). I'll be using this ROM for the next week or so as well, to help flush out any issues. I've been running it for a couple of days, and it seems fine so far.

Miscellaneous other updates which aren't really worth listing for this test ROM, although they'll all be listed with a kitchen release
Known issues/concerns:
The XIP is the XIP from AP 5.0 beta (build 19588.1.1.4, which was from the Sony X1 Xperia ROM). I've tried to generate a matching XIP for the ROM, but it won't boot. Anybody around here know how to create a good XIP?
There seem to be some issues with the Bluetooth OBEX service not being able to start. That's true of this ROM as well. It's able to send files to a PC without a problem, but it can't receive files (although it can copy them).
Even though screen rotation works both in the operating system and in HTC Album, HTC Album's screen rotation has the chance to screw up the operating system's screen rotation. A workaround is to use an application that can restart services (such as the FdcSoft Task Manager) to restart HTC Sensor Service (Athena).
Although the phone skin does work on 128 and 96 dpi, the speed dial application can act flaky and start drawing itself off-screen, which can trigger an error. One workaround is to dial a single number, then rotate the screen, which forces a redraw, after which it functions properly.
The VGA HTC Home plugin could be in slightly better shape. The TabSetting registry entry doesn't seem to work (or at least nobody's responded to me here yet), and the Profile tab shows a keyboard vibration option that, naturally, doesn't work.
The enlarged start menu has some icon overlap on 128 dpi.
The nifty System Status popup on 96 dpi seems to trigger just to the left of the connectivity indicator, while not triggering on the connectivity or signal strength indicators. It does work, just a little strangely on the other dpi settings.
Sym-A now generates the _ character instead of the $ character. (Added July 11, 2008)
Reported issues/concerns:
Some users are reporting an initialization infinite loop. The new ROM (updated July 11, 2008) might fix this; please report if it's still broken for you. (Added July 11, 2008)
During phone calls, the number keypad is active instead of the alphabetic keyboard. (Added July 11, 2008)
Miscellaneous notes:
Most users would probably call this ROM both bloated and underfeatured. Seemingly contradictory, yet true. It probably includes things that you don't care about (a lot of users couldn't care less about BubbleBreaker and Solitaire, for example), yet doesn't include things you do (like maybe a better task manager). That's not the point of this ROM. The whole point of the kitchen is so that you can take things out that you care nothing about, and put in what you do care about. I'll be doing the same myself.
This ROM has all .rgu files deleted, and only a single .dsm file. Although that's frequently done for "security" reasons (to prevent ROMs from being disassembled), in this case, it's more for performance reasons. Menneisys has done some testing which shows that more files in \Windows slows down system performance. Besides of which, if everything goes as planned, users will have access to this kitchen straight from me anyways.
Updates (July 11, 2008):
The new test ROM is now bundled with primary and secondary splash screens, as well as a blank extended ROM. This will hopefully address the initialization infinite loop; please report if it's still broken for you.
pimstore.dll has been replaced with a Windows Mobile 6.1 96 dpi version, doing the equivalent of what the SJ Contact Summary fix .cab did (I don't know where that pimstore.dll came from, whereas I know where the module I used came from). This fixes contact summaries in 96 and 128 dpi resolutions.
Permissions have been tweaked for *.htm files in the ROM generation .bat file. This fixes issues with reading/writing SMS.
VCommManager updated to version 0.3. The skin has been replaced with a significantly smaller .png.

Currently for SPL 3.5 only (I haven't tested SPL 1.2, and for the final ROM, swapping out the OS.nb for an SPL 1.2 version and updating the ROM folder for the XIP should be sufficient):
Megaupload
RapidShare
CheckAutoRun test ROM (Megaupload)
Feel free to ask questions! I'll answer what I can.
sounds great, why .net 2.0 and not 3.5?
which SPL is the image for?
Very good iniciative.
I've been testing some of the ROMs posted in this forum in order to use one of them as base for my own personalized ROM.

I think that in order to release a kitchen I think that is better to keep all the .dsm and .rgu files, so the people can choose what packages to keep or remove. Is there any tool that merge all the rgu/dsm in one before cooking? This would be the best option.
sounds really good,
a software-combination from the new devices combined in Athena (Ameo).
If the operating system is english or not is not the biggest iisue for me; but I couldn't use a german keyboard with an english keyboard driver...
Is there planned in any way to chance leastwise the keyboard in another language.
AND - if I find that the new version is not so good for me, could I go back to the original Version (t-mobile german WM6) ?
btw: do you support with this rom ms voice command too ?
Great
Seems intereting and promising...just want to know, if you would be able to avail this rom for both spl's 1.2 & 3.5.
Cheers
sogarth, dude you did a GREAT JOB with this rom it is awsome I fu*king love it. its not the fastest rom but its stable and most important i got the data connection working under spl 1.2 ..... just an awsome job i am going to do a little more testing and with sogarth's permission i will release it for spl 1.2 the only thing i will add is uc compliant and the rest will be untouched.

Answering myself: Yes, there are tools to merge all the packages in a ROM (I suppose that is was a stupid question, sorry, but I'm learning to cook ROMs).
For example, buildos+packagetools4.2b3 from ervius can do it automatically.
I have been using this tool to learn how to cook ROMs. Attached to this post
is .bat files that allow you to use buildos+packagetools4.2b3 to extract/build ROMS from/for the Athena.
Only for SPL 1.2???

One question about SPL versions: As far as I understand (as I said before I,m quite new on cooking), the diference between a ROM for SPL 1.2 or SPL 3.5 is in the XIP used. The ROMs for SPL 3.5 are based on AP4/AP5 (or takes the XIP from them), while ROMs for SPL 1.2 are based on old WM6 oficial ROMs. Is that right? Is there no problem for using a XIP form WM6 and a SYS from WM6.1?
thanks in advance

What was stated above that the XIP is the XIP from AP 5.0 beta, does this mean that this rom is for spl 3.5? Can some one help me answering this question.
unable to send a text or email message
Hello
Just trying the new rom and found that i am unable to send an email or text message. If I press "menu" and then "new" nothing happens.
Also the contacts details page is coming up blank. I can confirm that this can be fixed by implementing the SJ Fix_Summary_Contact.cab file found in various places.
cheers

Alex,
What spl is this rom for?
Cheers
I would be interested in a version that can be used with SPL 3.50, and the ability to start with a base (yet complete) WM6.1 is what I have been really looking for (while the Manilla stuff looks really cool it was not intended for the Athena hence the stability issues, I could live without it). This project looks very interesting.
Cheers

.NET 2.0 and not .NET 3.5 because .NET 2.0 is what ships as part of the Windows Mobile 6.1 SYS. It's not that hard to roll a .NET 3.5 OEM package; I'm sure you'd be able to find one without too much difficulty.

There is a tool that merges all the .dsm files into one and deletes the .rgu files post-registry generation while generating the ROM (Bepe made one). That's what I'm using. In the kitchen itself, there are all of the different SYS and OEM folders you'd expect. But it looks like you found that on your own too.

The operating system is WWE at the moment. If you have access to all of the German folders (I know WWE is 0409; I don't know what German is), it would be pretty easy to go through and replace the folders. Replacing the keyboard itself might be possible; I don't know for sure. If nothing else, the advantage of a kitchen is that you'd be able to try it yourself.
This is an SPL 3.5 ROM at the moment, so the only way you'd be able to go back to the T-Mobile German WM6 ROM would be by downgrading back to SPL 1.2 first. It's possible, although I understand a bit involved.
Any ROM should be able to run MS Voice Command. I actually have an OEM package sitting around so that MS Voice Command can be built into a ROM; if I were to release that OEM package, though, it would have certain files missing that users would need to re-add themselves, as it's a commercial product.

Well, I wasn't aiming for fastest, as I said. That gets to be the experimentation later.
Feel free to release an SPL 1.2 version if you want, although if everything works out, I'll be releasing a kitchen that would be able to generate either, depending on the OS.nb it's built with.

As far as I know, that's correct. Ideally, you'd have have an XIP that matches your SYS (down to the build level), but there isn't a huge difference between WM6 and WM6.1, so that would be fine. Even better would be if you could port an XIP, but I've been having a few problems with that.

Hmm... for the first, that's odd. I'll have to look into that, since I'm not sure what could be causing that.
For the second, I thought I'd gotten that working, but I guess I hadn't. *sigh* I'll take care of that, although I'd like to know why that's happening, too, since I'm using WM 6.1 96- and 128-dpi resource files. Unless it's something other than that?

Hmm... I'd suggest deleting MicroDrive and doing a soft reset, which should fix it. I would have freaked if that happened to me every time with this ROM.
I'll admit that as part of setup, the ROM does copy stuff to your microdrive (demo files for HTC Album, which the HTC Diamond ROM seems to like to do). It's pretty easy to disable, but I figured I would leave it in for the base ROM (since to be honest, I personally hate it when kitchen developers "tweak" packages, since I want to know that what I'm working with is relatively untouched).
i can confirm that i can recieve text messages but i can't view them except for when it first pops up in the bubble. there is a dll file missing i think

Disable eT9 & Enable the Older T9 - works better for copy/paste on WM6.x SmartPhones

Disable eT9 & Enable the Older T9 - works better for copy/paste on WM6.x SmartPhones
LINK EXPLAINING HOW THIS CAME ABOUT
I use WM6 ROM by GnatGoSplat (LINK), which breathed new life into my little phone. I also develop my own software in MortScript called JZ SmartMort, which helps SmartPhones/PPCs be more productive with copy/paste/clipboard history/multi-web-browsers/favorites/java, etc. When I had WM5, my software worked like a charm and I was able to copy/paste EVERYWHERE, including JBed textboxes like in Opera Mini. As soon as I used WM6 & WM6.1 ROMs, my program stopped copying and pasting which really killed my productivity but I absolutely had to leave WM6 on my phone because it's so much faster. So after trying a thousand things, I finally figured out that Tegic's eT9 IME keyboard driver is not the same animal as T9: because using T9, you're able to press any key combination of keys (Control-C, Control-V, etc.) while controlling the device from a MortScript or from a PC using MyMobiler. When eT9 is the IME driver, copy/paste did not work at all.
Tegic is the company who write the driver for HTC, this CAB is T9 (a.k.a. classic T9) ----VERSUS---- the newer xT9 (a.k.a. eT9), on WM 6.x and above which is not compatible with standard copy/paste keyboard shortcuts.
So --- I dumped the original WM5 ROM from HTC to disk and grabbed every file that met this criteria "\Windows\T9*.*" threw it into a CAB and added the registry entry (HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409\IME File) to switch over to the T9 dll file, replacing the newer but inferior eT9. If you uninstall the CAB offered on this thread, your original/newer eT9 driver will return.
After installing this CAB, all T9 functionality should be available. Soft-reset is recommended but not necessary, however, T9 will only be available to newly launched apps. After you do a soft-reset, all apps will use T9.
This CAB is for US-English (1033/0409) locale. Should only work on non-QWERTY SmartPhones (just dial-pad) Obtained this driver from Cingular 3125 ROM (HTC StarTrek -- here's a picture of it). IME driver is Tegic T9 for WM 5.0)
Post #8 suggests that this driver also works for BenQ E72. My guess is that it also will work on Pantech devices.
Thanks!
JZ
hi, I used this cab which allows for your script to work with Opera Mini. It now copies and pastes the correct address. Your cab replaces xT9 on my s640. However, there is an undesired side effect. I can no longer user the function buttons, which includes all numbers and symbols. Basically, with this keyboard I have only letters.
Any idea how to remedy this? I would like for copy and paste to work properly as well as having a full keyboard.
Thanks!

Few questions:
Before installing this CAB, did you try different "Opera Mini Paste-Methods" under JZ Opera Options?
Since this did not work for you, you uninstalled, after uninstall of T9 CAB the below reg entry below is restored back to original. Let me know what is in this registry key: "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409\IME File"
Was there ever a Windows Mobile 5 available for your device (so I can try to rip the T9 drivers from it)
Ultimately, I still have to find a T9 IME/keyboard driver with a full QWERTY keyboard. If you know of any other HTC device that has a full keyboard and WM5 SmartPhone, let me know.
Send me a private message and I'll see if I can attempt a few things with your device, ultimately, copy/paste is an issue with all xT9/eT9 keyboard drivers.
Thank you for your post. xT9 and the built-in Windows Mobile Copy/Paste functions are incompatible, the keys will stop responding or undesired effects will occur when using the 2 together.

Sure... I was puzzled for a while until I finally figured out that IME/keyboard drivers is the killer of copy/paste, especially with Tegic's (the company who write the driver for HTC) T9 (classic T9) or the newer xT9 (aka eT9, which is not compatible with standard copy/paste shortcuts).
I do believe the limitation is only on HTC SmartPhones devices and other devices using Tegic's drivers because my Wizard Pocket PC has no issues at all.
If anyone knows of a workaround or of a smartphone that uses xT9 and is compatible with the built-in Windows Mobile 6.1 Copy/Paste functions please speak up. Cheers!

Have you tried VitoCopyPaste by any chance? Take a look at my signature, my app includes VitoCopyPaste (on a time-limit since you don't want your Action key to always pop Vito). Basically if you press and hold your action button (middle of the D-pad) Vito will pop a menu allowing copy paste to occur. It works well on SmartPhones...
Thanks a LOT for this CAB! It works on the BenQ E72 as well (when it only had "abc" entry method).
Thanks again!

[APP] BlueToggler: Easy Bluetooth toggling for WM6

Hi there,
Bluetoggler is a very simple application that allows you to toggle bluetooth (Off / On / 'Discoverable') on your WM6 device. When you run it, it switches your Bluetooth radio on or off or to 'discoverable', depending on the state it was in. There's a 5 sec. timeout to enable tristate switching. (Just see it for yourself, then you'll know what I mean)
Why:
I was getting tired of all the trouble one has to go through, just to enable or disable Bluetooth, so yesterday I wrote this application. I thought it might be nice to share it with other people who encounter the same problem, so here it is.
I really don't know if there already are other applications which do the same thing. If so, Bluetoggler might be a nice alternative. If not: have fun with it.
This application uses the .NET compact framework 3.5 and I tested it on my HTC Touch Pro. (Rom: 5.05.404.1 NLD, Original update from HTC). Of course I do not provide guarantees or can be held responsible for damage blablabla...
I think it's allways nice to hear what others think of something you've created, so please feel free to comment or send me an email at:
brrrbaybay (<_AT_>) gmail (_._) com.
Friendly regards,
Joost Haverkort (BrrrBayBay)
WM6.5 compatible??
WM 6.5?
Haven't tried that. It's compiled for the .NET compact framework 3.5, and I assume that WM6.5 will provide backward compatibility with WM6 or 6.1.
It runs fine on my original HTC ROM with WM6.1.

Nice App!
This is nice!
I love this!!
Thank you Joost!
Since you wrote the app.. is there a chance that you can add some options..
· When the phone button is press or the exe is active, enable bluetoooth
· When you hang up the phone disable bluetooth
· When you hang up the phone do nothing to the bluetooth
· When a call comes in enable bluetooth
Thank you for your contribution to the forum.. I am currently using AEButton to triple clock a button to turn it on and off cause there was nothing that did it automatically.
Extra functions
@Eazy:
I really like you ideas, though I'm not sure if I'll implement them due to lack of spare time :s
I'm considering buying the HTC Touch Pro 2. If that device also has crappy bluetooth toggling, I'll certainly update BlueToggler.
Bluetoggler source dump
Hi all,
I decided that if I'm not continuing to work on this application I might as well give away the source code. It's not much (understatement), but here it is. Have fun with it.
Friendly regards,
Joost Haverkort
Ps.
This application needs the "Embedded source tools for bluetooth" package from microsoft to compile.
delete "On-Discovery" mode?
Can anyone make another version with the "On-Discoverable" option out of it? That is, just have it as "On" and "Off"? I have a Sprint/HTC Touch Pro, and I love this program, but I don't want to turn on the discovery mode. I just want on/off.
Compatibility with WM 6.5
The purpose of BlueToggler interrest me because i want to implement a bluetooth application on WM 6.5.
However, when I run it, it doesn't switch my Bluetooth radio because it can't check the state it was in.
I tested your application on my HTC HD mini T5555. (Rom: 1.07.401.1 (85429) WWE, Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional).
No compile error, the program just doesn't apply.
Perhaps, Microsoft.WindowsMobile.SharedSource.Bluetooth.dll doesn't work on WM 6.5.
If someone knows why it doesn't run correctly, it'll be great to answer me as he can.

What Manila, Titanium, etc...

Ok, I've tried searching the forums to see what these are but I can't find the explanations. So, what is Manila, Titanium, Rhodium, PagePool? If there is a site with this info i'd appreciate it. Since I highly doubt Sprint will release Windows 6.5 for the Touch Pro (I hope they do though), I'm seriously thinking about flashing a custom ROM but before I do, I'm trying to do as much research as possible. Any and all help is appreciated.
any one??????
I am not an expert so maybe someone can give you a more detail explanations but here is what I know...
Manila is TouchFlo3D, it is a Tab based system that basically masks Windows Mobile. You can turn it off and use just windows mobile if you prefer.
Rhodium is TouchFlo3D2, it is similar just has a few enhancements. A couple additional tabs and a few extra features...Five day forecast, search internet, calendar...
Titanium is something developed by windows that is similar in function to TF3D but looks completely different. It allows you to operate your phone with your thumb, for the most part. I believe this only comes with WM6.5, not sure tho.
PagePool...I have no idea, never heard of it.
Thank You Gators, that cleared up lot of my confusion. Does anyone know detailed differences between them, and what is pagepool?
Pagepool I believe is an amount of the devices RAM that's set aside at boot for the pagefile (swap file) only. Usually I'm seeing 16-24MB for these lately, which really makes the phone fast, at the expense of having a few less programs open before it runs out of memory.

Language Inputs (IME) for Windows Mobile 6.5 and 2003

Hey guys, This is definitely a LONG SHOT, (it's been long time since), I have old devices which I need to revive and make it function like it used to back in the day (this is symbol/motorola scanner MC75A and MC50) and I need access to Korean Language IME on Windows Mobile OS's. I had full version of Diopen6 back in 2011 or so on my old PC, but of course I don't have any of my old files, i've searched for days hoping I had some kind of archive on my old HDD, also looked high and low on google and naver (Korean search engine) . DIOTEK seems to be gone for awhile too. So i'm not even sure if I'll able to even activate the diopen software if I find it.
I've found language inputs for WM 6.5 on old thread which uses MOAKEY, it works for WM 6.5 however I would like QWERTY if possible just like what diopen used to do. the problem with MOAKEY is it fills up nearly the whole screen, while I need to use the inputs on browser. as for MC50 (WM2003), I bricked it twice trying to install just korean fonts, i wasn't able to locate any cab for fonts on WM2003.
If anyone can point me to right direction for IME on these OS, it would much appreciate it!
