assign ringtone tg01 - TG01 General

excuse me if i seem a little thick this morning, i debranded my tg01 yesterday with a basic debranded rom from here and all went well, i am trying to assign a ringtone to a contact so i know who it is before answering or picking it up? i would of thought this would be a standard feature on all phones by now but i can not seem to set it up, i have a htc touch hd with spb phone suit installed and that works a treat, just wondered if this is possible on my tg01 or is this a rom issue? many thanks in advance.

This is possible for sure, but the way you'll gone make it depends on what version of ROM you got installed, so tell us more!
Cheers!

show me some xda developer love

hey, just got my siemens sx56 yesterday, and i'm an xda n00b, wondering if you guys could help me out with a few things...
first off... killer apps. what do you guys use. what's cool. what should i try. i've owned a ppc pda before, but pretty much all i got on there right now is 4.0 student and battery pack. looking for resco's file explorer and pocket streets. also good games would be greatly appreciated...
second, i want to be able once i have a screen protector to dial with my fingers, and use the address book with my fingers as well... are there different xda dialers/phonebooks?
everybody on this board is so terribly helpful. thanks for helping me update the ROM yesterday. thanks, john
also that wmodem proggie... what can i do with it, how does it work?
and FINAL question... why is it that activesync 3.7 will stop syncing with my pda? the last time it did it, i had to completely uninstall activesync and reinstall it. when i turn my phone on, it makes a sound to signify that new hardware has been connected, but activesynce remains dim. i don't remember having this problem with 3.6, however, i do recall the problem with 3.7. is there a way around this glitch?
So you installed a new ROM. What did you get? There may be lots of cool things included with your new ROM, including dialers and what not.
Wmodem.exe only works with ROM versions 3.16.52, 3.17.03, 3.19.06 and 3.20.06, it has not yet been seen in 4.x (WM2003) ROMs.
" it makes a sound to signify that new hardware has been connected, but activesynce remains dim"
I get the same problem occasionally and have found the easiest way around it is to do a soft reset, then wait until it's fully up and running before putting the XDA back in the cradle. Annoying but it works.
Hope this helps.
AWESOME... soft reset finally FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKING worked... i owe you bigtime... i've been lulling over this for the past few days... thanks a lot man...

Need advise for a stable WM 5 or WM6.x ROM

Hello everyone, i know i ask a annoying question but it's a kind of an emergency
I gave my old Himalaya to my dad, who use it mostly abroad for navigation and mail checking.
A few days ago i installed him one of the new WM 6.1 ROMs, but this turned out to be a big mistake (shame on me, never change a running System...i should have known). Because today he called me, and told me that he couldn't use it anymore (random lockups, couldn't boot it etc.).
And now i ask the one Million Dollar Question:
Can someone give me an advise for a stable WM ROM, i don't care if its a new or a old rom, it only has to be STABLE. As i mentioned before he only need it for Navigation with the iGO Software, mail checking with Flexmail, and Bluetooth must work for the GPS Receiver. Maybe it could also have a MMS Application, but that's not essential.
Btw, he speaks German, so if there exists a German Rom somewhere, that would be even better.
So please help me out, coz i don't have the nerves to fix it every week
I have tryed Several and one of My Favorites is 3.50c.40cs

Just bought Star Trek couple question

Okay so I recently purchased an i-mate Spartphone I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find thru the search feature.
1st I was wondering is the phone I have a Qtek 8500 (I think thats what I read on here) it only says imate on the outside and smartflip below the inner screen and say's imate on loading.
2nd when I use the camera all I see is static no picture... is there a way to fix this or should I load a different rom? I am thinking of running the rose or neo rom anyways (I have to get on my home computer and do the unlocks first I believe)
3rd I am also new to Winmo phones so I was wondering if there was any nice apps that anyone could point me towards.
Thanks in advance

The phone is made by HTC but is also sold as other names such as i-mate smartflip.
I have an i-mate smart flip that I purchased on e-bay and was able to use the camera just fine with the original WM5 ROM. Though I must admit that after upgrading the ROM to Erofoch's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional for HTC StarTrek the camera works even better with the camera night mode option.
This version of WM6 works amazing on this phone, it also has BatteryStatus set up with safe and quick overclocking.
It took me a while to figure out all the steps, there is so much great information in this forum that it can be a bit overwhelming. I was directed to this wiki web page which outlines the ROM upgrade process step by step. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...Trk_ROM_Update
For the Mobile 6.1 Pro ROM that I installed I only had to stop at step 2 because this ROM does the rest.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Rudydb.
Okay I installed the Rose Rom by pampooh??(probably mispelled hope does not offend) anyways still just static on the camera not a huge deal for me I have a different camera phone for that purpose just was hoping it would fix it may be that I just got one with a bad camera but oh well
Yep, sounds like a bad camera. In general, when there is a driver issue, you will either get an error message when you launch the camera, or else a blank screen, but definitely not static.
iMate, Startrek, 3185, and a few other names are all the same phone. HTC sells the phone to Cellular carriers, and they can name it whatever they want. With the phone nerds here at XDA, the easiest way to refer to it is as "StarTrek", since this was the HTC code name for the phone. All the phones are basically alike, except for the Cingular/AT&T 3185, which has a larger battery, and twice the ROM (64MB instead of 32MB). You can buy the extended battery and associated back plate on eBay if you want it. All the versions of the phone run the same software and operating systems.
Software:
Tons of good software out there. What you will like is a matter of opinion. I can't live without:
1. Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 - Gives you text to speech, and awesome voice recognition.
2. Coreplayer - An actual working media player for the phone (not crappy like WMP).
3. Replacement calandar/tasks program - Tons out there, but I don't like the MS one.
4. Games - Again, find ones you like.

Do you really think it's better than Shazam? I don't think so. I've tried both with the same songs and Shazam worked better most of the times.
I also like Track ID more than Shazam. Have used both. Track ID, for me, recognizes more songs, faster and more accurately than Shazam.
What I like best is that no matter how many times I changed ROMs, if ever I went back to a generic, stock 2.1 it would list all the songs that I already tracked. I have never seen Shazam do that.
I also like how it tracks popular songs from your region and others, also globally.
Anyways, I would REALLY like to get it working on my custom 2.2 ROM.
Thanks
Yeah track ID works way better for me too.. and in 2.3.3 you get a Track ID widget that's pretty useful too. But I'm not sure if you can put it on non SE phones

[Q] HTCSense advantages for HD2?

Hi,
according to following thread I got a question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783961
The HTCSense Service has launched now. My question is, will it work on a HD2? Do you need any updates oder something else?
And my next question is, which of these things are still working on the HD2?
http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
-> I know, that the loudness control of the ringtone is supported, but which of these things will work too?
And the most important thing which should work is the remote lock ability. Will this be possible on HD2? - still answered by myself!
Has anyone detailed information or maybe tried this service?
I preffer to buy a HD2 because this phone is the most capable for my requirements, and if HTCSense-Service is working too, I will buy it instantly
Greez zyclop
Edit: I have found some Information on the HTCSense.com page itself. Supported devices are currently only Desire HD and Desire Z.
Anyone knows if older devices will supported in future? Because e.g. Desire is the same as Desire Z except the keyboard!
i think its android only.............
Hmm, every device manufacturer sets focus on developing and improve Android or Windows Phone 7 devices. Why do they all forget WM 6.5 which is still not dead. That this will not work on WP 7 is clear, because of the restrictions WP 7 brings by itself. But for Windows Mobile 6.5 it would be possible to implement, maybe there is any equivalent solution to manage data and security via web-frontend?!
There is still another question unanswered:
Which of these features work with HD2?
http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
I passed my question about support of older/further devices to HTC, I'll post their reply as soon as I got answer.
Edit:
Microsoft My Phone is doing exactly the same what HTCSense.com provides. But it would be very great if I can synchronize my stuff witch HTC, and re-synchronize it with another phone, maybe an Android device in future. Or a Windows Phone 7 device... today I don't know which device will be my next. So therefor this would be very great.
Has anyone ever tried Microsoft My Phone or any other service to save phone data and lock phone if it gets lost/stolen?

I use microsoft my phone whenever I have to hard reset and it has always been very reliable......... basic but reliable........
The whole point of the htc sense web side of things is just to try and tempt people into moving to a htc device........
Although 6.5 might not be "dead" as far as xda is concerned, htc however probably do not really care about 6.5 anymore, there certainly will not be anymore 6.5 handsets released.......
Anything that can be acheived through sense.com can already be acheived through 3rd party app already available for 6.5.......
Okay, you think, the HD2 is the best choice if I want to have a WM6.5 device? Or should I wait for newer devices? Or will there never be new devices? I really don't like any other OS than WM, because it has many advantages, I guess more than any other OS.
Back to topic:
I even read the page from HTC again and there are only 4 points important to me. So which are working with HD2, too?
1. "Ever fumbled with your phone because it went off at full-blast during a meeting? Well, don’t worry! Now as soon as you lift your phone up to see who’s calling, the ringer volume gets lower. Want it silenced completely? Just flip it over."
2. "When you don’t want to miss that special call, your phone knows when and how to get your attention. For example, if it’s tucked away in your bag it will know to ring louder."
3. "Now when you look to see who’s calling, you get to see their latest social status updates or if they have a birthday coming up. The conversation starts before you say hello!"
4. "Don’t worry about missing the next turn when a call comes in. Your map stays on screen while a call bar gently slides its way into view."
All points can be found on http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
I'm not sure, but I think point 1 and 2 are working - are they? A few months ago I got a HD2 from my company. But I weren't able to check all of the stuff... Now I changed the company and don't have a HD2 anymore. I really want to have it to detach my XPERIA X1.
I dont think any new 6.5 devices will be released so yeah the HHD2 is definetely your best bet.........
1 + 2 are working.....
3 doesnt Im afraid.....
I dont know about 4 as I dont use my my phone for navigation, not yet anyway....
I use my phone as navi only in foreign cars, because my own car has a built in navi
Maybe anyone knows whether this is working or not.
Do you know which version of Sens/Manila is installed on latest HD2 stock rom? And is there any page or wiki, where I can see all the features of this version?
