I recommend that you read these -

http://blog.coralic.nl/2009/10/25/how-to-compile-the-htc-hero-kernel/
It's not that hard once you do it a time or two. (And then start using some scripts to save all of the typing.)

Hi all! I'm trying to compile the CM9 for optimus one but I don't understand how to do it! I have already compiled the CM7 and there are successful but don't know where to put files and give commands with the sources of CM9! Can someone give me a hand?
What have you done/tried already?
I compiled the CM7 but I don't know how build the CM9! I don't know who commands give and where to put files
Can you help me?

First sync cm9-source, instead of gingerbread you use ics.
Download device and vendorfiles from github.com/lupohirp.
Create following folders in device: lge and lge/thunderg (in time it will be p500 instead of thunderg)
Also download framework_base from his github and replace all files folder in framework/base in your working folder.

how to fix it?
how to fix this error? http://pastebin.com/m3D1vZQs
OMG, if you dont know how to solve compiler errors learn coding/bug fixing instead
of ask again and again for every **** error on a forum. Do you realy think someone want
to help you to learn programming??? i think no one will do so.
Compiling a rom from source code is not the right toy for bloody beginners, sorry if it
sounds to hard but this is the real life.

i doesnt said a thing about the one is a bad programmer / another is better. i only
said that its sometimes better to learn things before get started with big projects
that can waste a lot of time. do what you want - its your time, not mine
so I have time to lose! However I managed to compile the cm7 for another phone! I'm having problems with only the cm9 and can't solve it!
Before you try to compile CM9, read Cyanogen's words of wisdom

thats sooo true.
I read what is written and I understand that to compile the rom you need to develop but still do not know (I have only 15 years old)! However, I still try and just wondering if anyone can help me understand!
I can read code, but I can't code. Let me try to point you in a good direction, it has to do with the audio system.

So, I've learnt how to compile a kernel for my device. But that's it. All I have done is change the name of it. How do you modify it? Like, how do you add drivers and all the gory stuff. I want to dig in to the Android Kernel so that I can eventually know how to add drivers and use it so that I can plug and play using OTG.
That is one example, but I want to know what you can do with an Android Kernel and how to do it?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
I don't understand these instructions from anybody on xda. Can someone help me? Exactly how to compile wpa_supplicant?
Instructions from developer
I had a quick look on this..
In order to make the wifi load you need to compile wpa_supplicant.
To give you a hint on this take a look at this commit from stockwell http://is.gd/Q4VaMi and you'll also have to edit libhardware_legacy just like this http://is.gd/CNVDrz so it loads wlan.ko.

Did u try compiling again using a fresh copy of source? What exact changes did u make? Did u use menuconfig command? Is your source code on github? You should tell all this when u need help else we may not be able to help u out efficiently.

No other source file is available. I have not made any changes to the source code. I have edited some things with menuconfig command. No source code in Github. I downloaded it from Asus's site.

What i meant by fresh copy is the downloaded kernel files from asus website which has no alterations done by youto it. Try compiling it without doing any changes using menuconfig or any other command and see if u get the zImage. If u do then use menuconfig and apply one change at a time, compile and see if it causes issues. From your log its clear that some change has caused instability to most of the kernel modules. Kernel building is not easy.
If u want attention of other developers then upload your source code on github and post link here. Can't assure attention but it may help:good:
