PIM backup not restoring? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Pretty much what the title says.
It goes through everything, gets to "restore task ended in 00:00:08:540" and does nothing. I restart the phone, and nothing is restored.
wtf is going on?

It look like you haven't backup your efs. When on GB do you have a lockscreen or it only get on the home screen? If you don't have any lockscreen then you probably lost your efs. Wich rom have you flashed, CM9 for the 4.0? If you did maybe you still have your efs backup on your sd card. Look if you have a file called efs.tar. If you got this you can probably restore it but you would need to ask to the devs how because I don't know. Maybe just unpacking it in the efs partition would do it but I'm not sure.

There is no lockscreen either. I do not have an efs.tar. Is there a stock version of this file that can be installed?

If by stock you mean a backup that is available on xda the answer is no as this file contain uinque identification. So you need to use the one you have.
welp then i guess im done for..i dont got one. Oh well. Time to sell it.

Are you sure you don't have any efs.tar on your sdcard, the same place where you have music and download. When you flash cm9 it automatically do an efs backup. If you really don't have this file then you can take a chance and ask a dev if they have something. I've heard somewhere of a generic efs that just got the not unique thing but I'm not sure. But even if you don't have it the device should be usable. But you should have done an efs backup before flashing as it is mentionned to do in the nebula thread.
Thanks. Just went ahead and sold it. Appreciate the help!
And this is why you read the instructions before flashing, or at least my signature for pity sake! Come on people, it takes a matter of seconds to backup the efs, and saves you and others hours of headache later on, JUST DO IT!
I don't get how this same thing can happen to dozens of people, and yet people still don't bother to take care to backup before flashing.

[Q] Back to stock

Good night everyone I wanna return to stock my optimus g I used lgnpst but the phone freeze in AT&T logo if somebody help me that will be great
Sorry for my bad english its not my language Im still learning
Instructions say if it freezes at boot, then you have to let it restore to 100%, not just at the 68% when phone reboots.
Or you can just flash a nandroid, unless you want to remove toot and relock it? I have a TWRP nandroid of OTA I might be able to upload, its a big file.

Doing a factory reset when it hangs on boot after lgnpst usually works. It will wipe your though, any apps, photos, music, etc you have stored there. If you want try that power off phone then press volume down and power and hold both. It may take a few tries but a menu will come up for reset.

To expand on what to expect if you use stock/factory recovery. When wiping data/factory reset from stock recovery (vol down + pwr), you will just get a black & white ATT screen with factory reset/wipe data being your only option. Press volume up or down to exit or pwr button to wipe/restore.

I have not used helium. Where did you copy it to? I was trying to state in my earlier post that "internal storage" would bewiped. I now see that I must have forgotten to type that part, for which I aapologize.
Its ok i understood that i copied to my laptop and now that I want to restore doesnt recognize

Your English is fine. Maybe if you made a new backup with helium you would be able to see where it is stored on your phone. Then copy your old backup to that location.

adb reboot nvflash - anyone tried it?

Curious if anyone has tried this on the Sprint version with/without success (it backs up your EFS to your internal storage). I'd be careful if you want to try it though, my Note is bricked and I don't know if that caused it (it looked like it was successful) or when I was enabling/disabling KNOX notifications for an app I released. Granted, it could have been a coincidence and unrelated to both, but I doubt it.
I was unable to use Odin to restore the phone. I can get into Download mode, but I've tried numerous combination of using Garwynn's .pit file, the official Samsung stock tar, formatting data/cache in stock recovery, and enabling Nand Erase All option in Odin. The phone just comes up and says "Process system is not responding", reboots, and does the same thing over and over. Current binary shows Samsung Official, system status says custom. If anyone has any ideas on that, I'd love to hear it
But I'm really curious if anyone tried adb reboot nvflash this before on the Sprint version.

Thanks for the link, but it didn't work. On the Sprint version, efs is mmcblk0p11 (12 is modem1) but no go. Seems like the issue was directly related to backing up the efs, I guess KNOX thinks that someone might be trying to pull some info from the phone that it wants to keep secure? Very silly that it would let you run that command without any warning. I ran that the other day on a friends GS3 and that's how I found out about it.

Thanks man, I will go get the phone exchanged at Best Buy tomorrow. I'm home for the weekend and they wouldn't exchange it last night at the store here (used to work there) cause I didn't have the box. Apparently, they need that to get credit for phone returns now or they get hit with the full cost of the phone. I was kinda ticked off about that, but I do still have the box back up at school, so I'll get it replaced tomorrow. The thing that really ticks me off is what if I didn't have the box? You think you can deny a return within 14 days if I don't have the box? I would have fought it at that point, but I figure why cause an issue if I can just handle it tomorrow.

So, to be clear, you suspect issuing that command, caused the problem? If so, there shouldn't be an issue backing up EFS, via other means (like TWRP recovery). Does that sound reasonable, or am I way off?
By the way, thanks for all you do for the community.

EXACT SAME THING happened to me. I was able to return it though bc my buddy works for an official retailer. Im just going to flash ONE custom ROM and deal w it UNTIL the whole SE-Linux issue is figured out. Its sorta my ONE FREE CHANCE I know this offers up absolutely NO help-lol-but indeed-the same exact situation happened to me but ONLY after using a TWRP restore that I had only a few hours before, created as a fail-safe. After that point, I tried every single thing you had mentioned-only 3or4x over! DO NOT RESTORE A NANDROID BACKUP is the prime lesson learned

Restoring won't cause the issue I had, if anything, you'll get FCs and knox warnings that can either be fixed with my TB Restore Fixer app or using a kernel that is SELinux permissive.

Nandroid backup fail

I made a backup of my phone with LOS16 on twrp. I backed.up "boot, system and data", then when I go to restore I load it up and the phone restarts to the "pocophone" startup screen. After waiting the phone goes to fastboot mode.
How. Do I take a proper backup on POCO with twrp so I can switch rims easily?

Go with the default settings for backup in TWRP. You will not have any issue. But one word of caution, use the same version of TWRP for backup and restore. Otherwise you MAY face issues.

You probably messed up something, don't ever lose your efs partition backup.
Did you flash csc or home_csc with odin? Use the csc without "home".
home_csc doesn't wipe your phone completely, also backup your data, pictures etc somewhere else as it might erase those too(haven't done this since forever so I don't remember).

Does everything else work?
Which firmware files have you flashed?
Also make sure it's the right one for your sim card.
Other things: Shut down, take out sim, boot without it. Shut down again, insert sim and boot it, see if you get anything on start.
Can you make calls even though it's supposedly enabled?

Do you see your IMEI codes when you dial *#06# or do you get zeros or NULL? Don't post them here if you do, just say yes or no

I'd suggest reflashing stock but you should wait for someone else to try and help you as it may involve fixing partitions among other things.

Welcome, well good thing you had that. Worst case you'll have to take it to Samsung and them wanting to replace hardware, best case things haven't been overwritten so it's restorable through some method.
Pick a custom ROM and stick to that when you fix it.
In the future always make backups, especially since it's a Samsung phone and things that control your IMEI are more reachable than they should be.
Good luck!
