boot into bootloader manually, (volume down held, tap and release power), connect usb, wait for word 'serial' to become 'usb', on PC right click hspl and choose run as administrator. If it times out, try a different usb port, same process till you've tried them all.

HELP: Did I BRICK My Phone????

Hi Guys!!
While trying to upgrade my phone, this is what happened:
STEP ONE: Super CID
The first time it went wrong cause the ACtiveSync was not on to complete the final stage of tis step. So, I never got the "Unlocker" Application on my phone in order to unlock the phone. (What happened is that I probably forgot to put on the password after rebooting, so the ActiveSync never recognised the phone.
So, I decided to restart the step and I completed it successfully!!
STEP TWO: Hard SPL
This step went perfect!!!
STEP THREE: RADIO ROM
After the phone booted from Step Two, my laptop does not recognize the phone anymore!!!! The battery charging sign only appear for a few seconds then I get a pop up saying "One of your USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". This means that the ACtiveSync cannot run. I have tried this on my Laptop and my PC but same results.
My phone looks ok though, so what went wrong guys? What are my options here?
Thanks

Your phone is not bricked. Congratulations on successfully CID unlocking and installing Hard SPL. Most with issues don't at least do the Hard SPL before they get themselves into trouble.
What version of Activesync are you using? Do you have enable advanced network compatibility checked on the start->settings->connection->USB tab of your phone? If so uncheck it.
If you are on AS 4.2 I recommend upgrading to 4.5. Also unplug the phone from your computer and reboot both devices then try to reconnect.
This problem is actually quite common and easily worked around. It can be frustrating though.
All is GOOD!!!

Please Help I Have Done Everything But Cannot Get My Prophet To Connect Via Usb

I TRIED EVERYTHING. I have bootloader screen but when i connect through USB it just says that device not recognized and nothing would happen. I even took the battery out for 2 hours... put in another phone charged to maximum and still same problem. Please if anyone could help.. i love this phone cant let it die like that.
hey body, check if you have installed ActiveSync on your PC if u r using WinXP, or if u have installed Windows Mobile Device Center on your PC if u r using Win Vista.
If not then install it according to the OS of ur PC then try to connect ur phone to PC again.
Or you may try to use another USB data cable?

already done that before a hundered times
suggestion..
what prophet do you use.. 818 pro?
try this
1. device is on..in bootloader screen..
2. connect your device with usb cable to pc/laptop
3. press the comm manager button + soft reset button + green button (phone call button ) all at same time for few second
4. if done successfully, you'll get into splash screen
5. then flash with wm 5 rom or flash with any wm 6 rom. ( last time, for me i use korand 1st edition wm 6 clean rom & my prophet is restore to normal again)
* if step 3 doesnt work, press the camera button instead of comm manager button..(camera + soft reset + green buttons)
one last thing. did you have hardSPL your device? if so, hope it works

Nice try !!
My further advises:
1. Use another USB cable and must use the rear panel USB port of your PC.
2. Then go to bootloader ( follow my steps precisely in my post 1) and plug to PC, on the left bottom of your Prophet screen
you should see the word "USB" shows up within 2 seconds.
3. then flash PVtemp downgrade to WM5, never fail!!!!!

My problem was that I had done the HardSpl on another machine(office) and i was loading the ROM from another machine(home). All of the processess listed above are true but you have to be careful if you hardSPL your device from one machine then dont disconnect it from USB because thats what gave me all the headache. And the battery level is also important I would recommend atleast 70% power before u do the ROM updates.

Why not try to remove the ActiveSync of your home pc and reinstall it?
well, i never done that before..
so i guess its better to run all the upgrade using only one pc we always use..
another case solve..

Sorry, but your conclusion doesn't make sense at all. HardSPL is installed on your Prophet and has nothing to do with your PC or the drivers installed on that machine.
@rondol1
quite agree with you..
maybe duderootz only explain for what he think cause it
i think this device is so delicate
depend on how old have we been use the device, models, conditions etc..

I agree with you that is why I took the trouble to rectify. it should be unfair to let other users wondering with misbelieves.
In this case it is assumable that his homePC lacks some USB-drivers that his officePC does have. A solution could be to install AS 4.5 again on the homePC. In my experience, ActiveSync is a tricky app, especially when it has been updated from an older version.
And connection through bootloader-mode uses other drivers then a "normal" ActiveSync connection. It sounds as if those "non-ActiveSync" USB drivers are missing.
This same issue causes the Vista connection problems.

I searched high and low and its a no-go. Help please

I used the search function but it still isnt working for me. I picked up a locked 8525 from a guy off craigslist. Its stuck on the tri-color bootscreen. He said it worked fine until he took his sim card out and reinserted it today. he said he didnt flash the ROM or anything. I tried the wiki suggested fixes to no avail. I installed active sync and unchecked the allow usb connections and tried to reboot the phone. Nothing. It said it couldnt find my phone. Pulled the battery, reset, nothing. Please help. He gave it to me for $50 because it was stuck.

Downloaded and tried to flash your stock rom? Or via the SD card method, can you get it into the bootloader?
Thank you for replying. I downloaded the WM6 upgrade directly from the HTC site. After I downloaded it to my computer and plugged in the phone to run the program it got to a point then said "ERROR, replace installer" something along those words. It appeared to me that the WM6 version from HTC was outdated or too old to be loaded. Its stuck on the 3 color screen so I assume thats the bootloader screen. I am going to try it again on a different computer at work this morning.
Downloaded the ROM from HTC. Plugged in the phone and got ERROR 260. Unplugged it and changed to another USB and same thing. Its as if the computer doesnt recognize the phone at all.
Nothing. Computer doesnt recognize the phone. Should I try downloading a ROM to a micro SD card then inserting it? Will it load on its own when inserted?
Whats the SPL on the bootloader (tri-colour screen)?
You need to have Hard SPL on your phone before you try to upgrade the os using the sd card method. If its Hard SPLed then the SPL should say SPL : 2.10 olipro.
Cheers...

Thats what it says SPL-2.10.Olipro. I tried the sd card method an it would say Update completed then when I did a softreset it jumped back to the bootloader screen. When I try the USB method, the computer cant connect to the device. Its not the computer because my colleague connected his iphone to the same port and it works.
i have just got one of these phones as a update from my poor poor xda2i.. as i wanted wm6
i had a prob with the pc not connecting, i was trying to connect to it using a powered usb hub, u have to use a usb port directly connected to your pc, with no hubs or extenders, this worked 100% for me, and you are using a pc running XP not vista? as the flashing software was only designed for 2k/xp, this was the same with my old xda2i
and pls dont mention *spit* the iphone *spit* in a xda forum!!! LOL
ha ha, I wont mention the "other" phone anymore. How do I tell if its a direct port and not a powered one? Yes, I'm using XP on both my computers.

OK, best thing to try is to see if theres bad blocks on the device.
Leave the device in bootloader, run mtty.exe and connect to USB.
use the command "info 8" to see if there are bad blocks....paste the output here for us.
downloaded mtty.exe and I dont have the USB port in the pulldown menu. Just com1 com4 ports

I will try to find a picture of the screen its stuck on
This what my screen looks like. This is how I got the phone as well. It will flash a ROM but when I soft reset it, it goes back to this screen. I followed the WIKI guide for flashing via sdCard was great! I followed the instructions perfectly. I soft reset by pushing in the button on the bottom of the phone and thats it. Nothing else. What am I doing wrong? Also, mtty.exe says it cant open USB port. Do I leave those other settings alone?

hmm looks strangely like the image from my guide site??
tbh if you cant access the bootloader with mtty we cant help you....you most likely have bad blocks which is causing it not to boot.

HardSPL Upgrade - Error 260! :(

Hi Guys,
since 3 hours i try to upgrade the SPL from my Touch Pro. Searched the Forum up and down and walked hundred miles around in google but i can't find any solutin...
I've connected the device to my PC via ActiveSync, started the "RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe", followed the instructions and the progressbar appeares. Now i allowed the programm "bootloader.exe" on the TP to start and it goes into black screen... ActiveSync is disconnecting and the blackscreen stay there -without any change.
I've tried this on 2 PC's (Vista Ultimate 64bit and XP SP2 Pro). Always the same
I've tried the "SSPLManual.exe", too. Copied to the phone and execute it... There comes the blackscreen and nothing else (for more than 20 minutes) - ActiveSync got disconnected after the blackscreen.
Does anyone have an idea what i can do to get this thing working?
Want to Upgrade my Radio and/or the ROM
Thanks for helping!

Is your phone GSM (SIM card), or CDMA (no SIM card)?
Oh, sorry forgotten this.
It's an GSM device. (German original HTC ROM)
Did you use the SSPL.exe, then while the screen is black double click the RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe? Thats what you need to do, the SSPL.exe is only to get the device into the black screen, you still need to click on the RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe to flash the Hard Spl!
I've got it.
Don't ask me how! I think i go crazy here.
To answer you and check whats happen then i do the same things again, that i'm doing the hole time. Connect to active sync, run the upgrade, blackscreen, but now vista was searching for the driver, it connects again and the update was successful.
Don't understand anything but it worked...
thank you

Connection problem trying to flash ROM and HSPL

as soon as i try and flash the HSPL or a ROM it disconnects me from my usb connection, ive made sure numerous times that it is synced up before i start the flashing but as soon as they start it automatically disconnects me and the flashing doesnt work. Ive tried switching usb ports on my comp and nothings worked.... any ideas????
enter bootloader manually, when on coloured screen connect usb, wait for word serial to change to usb, and dont forget to right click and 'run as administrator'
thank you that worked so far, also its asking me which HSPL verson to install....
2.08. HSPL? or 2.08.0000?
it says my installed version is 2.10.0000

go on, have a guess, , is it the one with HSPL in the version, or the one without?, , , , , , ,
2.08.0000 is for returning to stock, you want 2.08.hspl
My first post!
And that last one above there made me chuckle, alot!
Sorry for posting on something almost a month old but it's the closest thing I can find to my problem.
So I've figured out I need HSPL to do any flashing, so i figured HSPL3 would be a good choice?
I'm currently on my boot screen and it says i have SPL- 1.42.0000, but the word at the bottom will not change from Serial to USB. I've got the HSPL3_PKG ready to run as admin when it does, but no change at the moment
Thanks for the help
forgive the dumb question, but the usb cable IS plugged in to the phone AND the computer, right?
haha yeh.
im on a laptop, there are 3 USB ports and i've tried them all.
there is one thing, one time when my phone was plugged in it started the whole windows device driver software thing, and then it said that it failed. could that be causing some sort of usb connection problems with my phone?
thanks alot, I see you're very busy!
is it something to do with my stock rom that ive not seen mentioned anywhere
1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE
?
:S
no, not the rom, but yea, the drivers not installing is probably it. You need to make sure that windows mobile device center (or active sync if you are on xp) is the latest version.
what you can try is, (after you have made sure you're on the latest wmdc version of course) with the phone connected, call up device manager, (on vista/7 , right click my computer, choose properties, device manager should be an option down teh left) find the entry for the phone (probably called unknown device, or something) and right click it, and choose update driver.
been trying to get hold of a WMDC download all evening but i think i'm hitting some server problem their end.
just checked the version i have, is 6.1.6965 and i think it was 6.1 i was after so i guess ill try and hook it up like you said above, will let you know...
damn 'windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date' think i have a plagued HD2 :S
wait, just reread you r fisrt post again.
When you start to flash it DOES disconnect, its supposed to disconnect.
Try this, enter bootloader manually, connect the usb cable (ignore what does or doesnt happen on teh pc) on teh phone, does the word serial change to usb? if it does, run your flash.
EDIT - oh, lol, you arent the OP, and i just read post 1, lol, ignore.
apparently i am missing some driver, Qualcomm CDMA or something like that... trouble is that i cant get a hold of it, theres a few threads on xda that mention it but no solutions.
normally, when a comp is asking for qualcomm drivers, it indicates a problem. Mostly it is when a tmous has been bricked, but occasionally other people have reported it. There aren't any qualcomm drivers that we know of. (Well, theres a thread that is titled qualcomm drivers, and does indeed include what appear to be drivers, but they wont install on windows.)
If i were you id focus on trying to find another pc to try it on. That way you will know if its a pc problem or a phone problem.
good call, i think ill opt for the trusty XP, just need to find that old laptop...
hopfuly you won't be hearing from me for a while.
i read that XP is more stable for flashing off of cos its more blunt, what do you think?
well, its certainly seems to cause less problems, especially HSPL'ing.
Good luck, and goodnight.
