Hi guys, I have an issue with my wifi. Here is the scenario:
When I am at uni I use the wifi they provide. No proxies, just a password.
It is woking fine and data is syncing. However, only when the screen is on.
Whenever the phone takes a little nap, the connection seems to vanish as I do not get mails, messages (whatsapp), or facebook notes.
Now some weird facts:
It is working fine at home with my own wifi.
It is working fine for a friend (using an iphone4 at uni)
So it must be something specific to the S2 and the schools wifi. Any ideas guys?
Help is very much appreciated!
Go inside Wifi settings, Menu- Advanced and change Wifi policy to like this,

Thanks for the quick reply! My appologies for not mentioning this, but it was already set to Never.
EDIT: I am at home right now. Is this setting different for different wifis?

Hi
Since last update (9 dic) everytime I restart the phone I can see the 3G icon on the systembar but the 3G data connection is off on settings.
I have to set the 3g data connection on and then off to make the 3G icon disappear.
With the 3G setting off I reboot the phone and the 3g icon is back again ...
Any one is having the same problem ?
Thanks Iosu
How did you turn off 3G? Did you just turn off "Data Connection".
I am trying to figure how to do it on me AT&T HTC Titan.

yes I turn off data connection
I think your issue is different
Hello Iosub,
The 3g icon could be just indicating that you are using the 3g voice ( not the data). On my old Nokia's they would show the 3g icon even though I never used data.
Hello nemets,
Unfortunately not all the carriers allow the 3G connection setting in their Cellular setting. Though the option does exist as evidenced by the How-to Cellular settings page on the Microsoft website.

thanks for your answer.
i don't think that is the issue.
1. Because when i go to settings the data connection is off
2. Because if I turn on and the off the data connection the icon disappears
3. Because this was not happening with firmware 1.08 this is new with version 2.1
i think is a bug with the new firmware , lets see if someelse has the same problem..
Thank you
found a fix
I have found a fix.
I have turn on flight mode and reboot.
then I have turn off flight mode and reboot
I have reboot 5 times and no more 3g icon on startup. Only if I have the data connection on prior reboot witch is the correct behavior
hope is no back again

I've noticed strange behavior with 3G (H) indicator.
Sometimes the icon appears even with Data Cellular off, I also see that restart behavior.
Will try the Air Plane mode trick and see if it solves this ODD thing.
What I don't understand is: why in the H**** this is done by firmware? Shouldn't this be controlled by the OS?
PS: when Cellular Data is OFF, even if the icon is in the screen, there is no connection working.

I was having the same issue.. After my trick it has been fixed.. try it
also. now my batery live is longer
Iosu
I also noticed this bug, once yesterday and twice again today.
However, I couldn't identify what triggers the issue, it seems to be happening out of the blue on my phone.
At first I thought I've fixed it by turning cellular data on/off but that proved to be only a temporary fix (as it occured again).
I also agree the issue has an impact over battery life. Usually my battery drains very slowly overnight (~2%) but last night it drained 10%. I examined the Battery Status graph and it clearly showed the battery drain going down abruptly around 5 o'clock.
I will try the airplane mode fix and report back.
UPDATE
I tried it but didn't work, maybe I didn't do it right:
- turn cellular data ON
- turn flight mode ON
- reboot
- turn flight mode OFF
- reboot
- turn cellular data OFF
After a few hours, the H icon appeared all of a sudden on the status bar...
the issue is back
Now the trick does not work :-(
Time to find a way to fix it
HTC response is to reset.. Why in the hell they always give the same answer ?
Iosu
Hello,
My Titan has this problem too.
I have made the "Airplane" solution but since yesterday the 3G icon appeared again.
Any solution for this or should I reset the phone?
Thanks
Santos
Another Trick
Hi
I have found another trick.
step to fix
1.- Set DataConnection ON
2.- Go to a place where you lost the antena coverage connection completly, example a garage
3.- Go to DataConection turn OFF
Now move to a place with Antenna coverage
you will see that there is no more 3g/h simbol.
Hope this helps
Hi to all,
Unfortunately I ve got the same annoying problem after the last update through Zune. Hope this trick works, but maybe a permanent solution is another HTC update to correct this bug...
The above trick worked for almost 24 hours, now the bug appeared again. Thanks for your help anyway. One question please : what if I hard reset the phone? That means no more updating through Zune? Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

You can Hard Reset your Titan the times you want You have always access to further updates, no problem with that.
The problem is that if the Hard Reset solves the problem...
Thank you,

Hello,
Did anyone tried to make a Hard Reset to see if this problem disappears?
Thank You,
Santos
I guess that hard reset may be the solution since the bug came up after the last update.
I think I m gonna try it.

Hello,
Just did a Hard-Reset on my Titan and the problem continues.
HTC must see this for sure.
Thanks,

hi
Report to HTC support, we all have to report if we want them to fix it
Thanks
I have already report it to HTC Greece, they have not replied yet...I'll also report it to HTC international support. By the way, I have not mention any effect on battery life or any other function. It is just annoying...
Thanks

It looks like a Mediterranean bug... Spain, Portugal and Greece!
Just kidding...
Greetings to all.
Running Infected 2.9.1 and over the last week or so clock has not been current. Now is like 50 minutes off. Any way to correct this? Uninstall, Reinstall? Anyway to force it to sync with the network. Or any prefered app that I can swap with the stock infected one. Preferiably with a widget with future alarm on the home screen. Any help would be appreciated. I have searched and came up empty thanks in advance.

Im on a completely different rom but this should be in all roms if im not mistaken
in Settings scroll all the way to the bottom and there should be a "Date & time settings"
Thank you. Not sure how I missed it. Or how it got turned off but rediculous how far off it gets in both ways reset at midnight and by 5 hour past. When normally slow
Thanks man

There is a setting in the advanced WiFi settings about it.
Change it to never.
