[QUESTION] Windows 6.5.5 volume bar issue - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have reciently created a stable rom with windows 6.5.5 and sense 2016. The one thing I have noticed is the volume pad has reverted to the standard white windows one.
I have found the HTC package and put it last in the list and tried to cook the rom but I cant get it to work.
Is there any way to get this to work in 6.5.5? I am using os 25018, I am building the rom for the HTC HD2 Leo

Have you cooked in a custom taskbar? Look out for any packages you're using that contain HTCVolumeControl.dll. If you find it in there somewhere try cooking without that package to confirm, then get searching for a compatible version of that taskbar

New look HTC Home WM6.1 for WM6 users!

Not sure if someone's already posted this here but if anybody wishes to have the new look HTC home as in the Niki Project ROM v1.0 and other WM6.1 ROM's without having to flash WM6.1 then install the attached cab!
Enjoy!
N.B. this only changes the appearance of htc home to the new look, it's NOT a new version of HTC home plugin! You can un-install this if you wish to go back to the old look.
thanks for sharing!
Cool
Hmmm, I have the Niki ROM installed but don't have this Home Screen option, if i try to install it comes up with an error message.

When you say you have Niki ROM, do you mean you have tom's excellent Niki Project v1.0 WM6.1? if that's the case you don't need to install this cab however, if on the other hand you have original Orange stock ROM then try disabling the htc home from today item settings and then install this cab, it should work! this cab is only meant for WM6 ROM's not WM6.1
This install fine on the stock T-Mobile ROM (remove it from the Today screen first) but to be honest I prefer the look of the original.

Hhmmm!!! strange that you have tom's Nike Project v1.0 WM6.1 ROM and yet you're saying the HTC Home plugin doesn't appear like this one?? I know when had tom's ROM installed on my device it had the new look HTC Home.
Have you posted this issue in his ROM thread? maybe you can get some answers there.
Think i've figured it out, are you referring to the clock/email section (normal HTC Home) as I was referring to the Icons/Shortcuts you have below it (near the soft keys links) ...
I like it !!!! Thx for share
It's nice to see that my HTC Home Plugin skin is being appreciated and spread across the forums.
It's not a new look from WM6.1 though, I made it a while ago (back in my Prophet days)...
It's just a pity that sometimes, someone else's work is shared without the proper credits...
I've instaled that file and when i've removed it.
Now i can't change the nothing with the htc home costumizer.
Nicely Done! Thanx XDA

Try them all and decide Yourself
Bye
Deckard99
PS: I'm using GnatGoSplats WM 6.1
I agree, try them and see which you like best. Just keep in mind that the two ROMs by Erofich are very different from each other, one is wm6.1 Standard (smartphones without touchscreen) and the other is wm6.1 Pro (PDA phones with touch screen). Navigation is said to be tricky if you use the pro version since the StarTrek has no touch screen. Since you haven't flashed yet, I would say flash the pro version and see if you like it and it's quirks. Then if you don't like it, flash again with the standard versions (I wish I had before investing so much time in getting my phone "just right".)
I'm not sure of all of the differences between Erofich's standard ROM and GnatGoSplat roms, since they have the same build number. I did see that GnatGoSplat's did not have the newer Comm Manager that I see in Erofich's, and Erofich's does not have the recent apps feature when you click the start menu.
I'm currently trying Erofich's with the cumulative fix cab installed. Looks great so far.
thanks
I will try pro by Erofich first

Just for the record, I was wrong to say that Erofich's ROM did not have the recent apps feature.... it does. Its an option in the Home Screen settings ("Show Recent Programs").
Now my conscience is free.

Good evening,
I personally prefer Erofich´s 6.1 Pro. It combines the great features of the pro version with the handling of the StrTrk. At first i tried the standard version and I have to say that the green slieder (On thed esktop) relly looks very cool. Since I flashed the Pro version I am now able to use application which were normally designed for PDA´s. That is why I would recommend the Pro Version to everyone who wants to use special programs which are not available for WM 6.1 (Standard).
Where can I find the GnatGoSplat ROM?
I am looking for the ROM from GnatGoSplat, but I cannot find it?

Any Way To Scroll The Menu With Dragging in WM 6.1 ?

Hi
In WM 6.5 You Can Scroll The Programs And Menus Buy Dragging Any Where , But In WM 6.1 You Have To Use The Scroll Bars !
Is There Any Way To Make The Scrolling In WM6.1 Like The One In WM6.5 ? !
Thanks
Yes, it is possible
Infact that is the default feature of WM 6.1, if it is not removed by the chef while cooking the ROM to again more free RAM.
Try any of the 6.1 based ROM from this forum.
@Duron: No it cant be removed and it has became a feature of the Windows Mobile OS itself. It could be removed in older days (with Elf for example) when it was not part of Windows Mobile OS itself, rather it was provided by an external HTC tool called BioTouch. Now its inseparable.
Thanks Every One
krazy_about_technology thank you
i have downloaded one of your 6.1 roms
and it has the Scrolling feature
thank you so much
You are most welcome friend. Enjoy your phone!
guys iam srry
but there is a great rom iam using now , and its very good and comfo
but the only thing wich is missing is the scrolling stuf
could any one help me adding it again to the rom ?
thanks every one
@ Krazy,
Thank's for correcting me.
But I guess I had flashed a 6.1 ROM which did not had touch scrolling in it, So thought it could be removed while cooking.
Anyway it's good for us that microsoft has made it part of OS.
@Duron: Yes, you are right buddy, in earlier versions of 6.1, MSTOUCH was not there (this is the name people use to describe the built in flik scrolling in WinMo). These versions also have a weird problem, that if you copy 2-3 files to phone mem which are also present in the ROM itself (i mean you override the rom file), then the device would get really really slow. It would take upto 5 minutes to open the WIndows folder in file explorer. This issue was solved in some builds just before the one i used in Pro Users ROM v1.0. And at the same time, Microsoft introduced touch scrolling in the WIndows Mobile itself.
@Hassan: Buddy, there is no way you can enable touch scrolling in that rom without rebuilding it with a newer SYS which means, you create a new ROM. Only HTC Touch (Elf) and above phones have a touch screen driver that can do this with the help of biotouch.exe utility. It requires this utility + support for it in the touch.dll driver. This driver file is unique for every device and cannot be used across devices, atleast not between those which have fundamentally different types of touch screens. For reference, see how the touch screen of a touch series device from htc differs from a device like gene. you will get the idea, the hardware is different.
how do i know which rom im using
i have the x7510 .i heard that the michy rom is really good.how do i know which rom im using.also is the oem rom any good.

The development on this rom will be discontinued until further notice:
The activity on this thread appears to be so limited that I've decided to discontinue the development for this ROM version.
I have no idea how many people are actually using it but looking at the responses and rating there cant be many. I'll focus my cooking activities on the other ROM(s) for the moment which have my personal preference. I apologize to those people who are using this ROM.

For those of you who prefer the 'old' style windows mobile builds as per special request here is a Dutch ROM that I've build using only the latest official dutch releases for the HTC Leo and Topaz.
The ROM contains about 95% of the Leo packages including Manila HTC Sense UI version 2.5 1920.2525. I've added no other packages so you are free to add whatever you want.
The ROM can be downloaded from here:

Use hardSPL v.1.83 to install!
Is deze nog getweakt of zijn enkel de manila 2.5 bestanden toegevoegd?
Wel eervol dat dit op verzoek geschied!!
Heb je ook de laatste OEM drivers toegevoegd?
Is this version tweaked in any way or did you just add manila 2.5?
It's an honor you did this on request!!
Did you also add the latest OEM drivers?

Hi patensas: no special tweaks: it's the same as the TEO_23506 version but without the custom theme.
(I hope you're happy with your ROM?)
Sure i`m happy with my own build ( thanks to you ) and still working on it on a daily base. You gave me what i needed to get cooking
Nice one and very much appreciated. been waiting for a rom NLD with sense 2.5
Although the original HTC nld release shows some sort of memory leakage prtoblem. It was using more and more memory even when I did not start up anything.... I stopped using NLD HTC release because of this.
Is this the normal HTC release OS version? I'm not that much into versions so that's why i'm asking.
How is this ROM performance wise compared to e.g. Duttys??

I myself never actually used the original NLD HTC release so I really do not know about the memory leakage. The R1 version is now no longer fully based upon the official NLD releases.
server and rom
At first,
thanks for bringing a dutch rom. I'll try it tomorrow and when it's oke many of my friends will use it.
Sharing your rom with this server is an example for all the other cookers. It's so dam fast.
Thanks!

First of all thanks for releasing an up to date dutch rom ! I didn't encounter any major problems ....there is one problem , I hope you can solve. When I install something to device ( instead of sd) , I get duplicate items in the startmenu , with english name and an standrd blue white icon .. the shortcuts are : htc calendar, htc people, htc music, htc footprints and htc twitter ... They keep reappearing even after I have removed them from the startmenu.

Try to make the following registry setting change and let me know if it's ok:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"IsShortcutEnable"=dword:0
thank you, that did the trick
Goed bezig kerol. Rom ziet dr goed uit!
Nice Job Mate. Rom looks great!
I noticed that your rom doesn't have the zoombar enabled in opera, there is also no zoomslider ( like stock opera) that makes navigating webpages a littlebit difficult. MAybe you could enable the zoombar in a future release ?
In the meanwhile, if anybody who uses your rom wants a working zoombar, just install the cab I attached.
Thanks for the dutch ROM!
I also cannot zoom in opera, but with the .cab is it oke!
2nd issue: the end key. When you press the end key en hold it, nothing happends. In other roms you get the lockscreen or a quick list.
Maybe to fix this in your next rom.
Edit: and ı can't find the marketplace. I think it is not in this ROM

Is it possible to have a startmenu with 3 columns instead of 4. I tried to install some cabs i found on the forum to get only 3 columns but none of them worked.
Thanx!

[Q] How can I remove an app from a cooked rom. (Windows live.)

Hey all, I need to know how I can remove the Windows live app from my HTC HD2 running winmo 6.5, that I recently installed the "Maxsense Energy Rom" on. It came with the older version of Windows Live, and I would like to use the new one available 11.1, I believe, but you can not do this without removing the old version first, it will not work. So, bottom line is, How do you remove an app from windows mobile 6.5 that came in a cooked rom?
P.S.
I love this sight, I have learned alot, I am running a T-Mobile, HTC HD2 with winmo
6.5, with the Maxsense Energy Rom, as well as Android Gingerbread 2.3.
Thanks
You would need to unpack the rom into a kitchen, remove the app, rebuild then flash it again,
sadly most (all) cooked roms are protected and wont unpack into the kitchen.
so, the easiest option is ask your chef if they would kindly
a)make you one without that app
Or
b)let you have a copy of the kitchen
You can also try
c) dump the phone into .raw files with psdread, then use a kitchen to convert those back into a cookable format.(not 100% sure this works with cooked roms.)
can you not unpack the cab & manually transfer files to overwrite existing files using resco explorer or total commander !
I do not know why cooks load these type of apps in ROM, would make more sense to implement them via cabs at second boot thus allowing easy upgrade/removal as users require.

Hi,
You don't need to remove it, I installed v11 over the top of cooked in v10 yesterday and have no ill effects whatsoever. (I can use the Bing section, Hotmail integration and Messenger with no problems)
Hey thanks for all the responses, As far as installing the new live version 11,
you can install it, and the app goes on the phone, but when you open it using the new icon, it only opens the old version. They look very similar, but are not.
Check your version, and make sure it's 11, and not 10.7. Or... I am having a different issue than you are??? Either way, I think I will live with the old version for now, if I need to "Re-cook" The rom in order to just upgrade an app that does work. Thanks guys!!!
