Auto detect time & date? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
Does anyone know how to force a carrier time & date detect?
After a hard reset my stock ROM 1.66 will do an automatic detection of the time & date. It should be possible to force it to do it again, shouldn't it?

new xda2 rom update from o2

please help, ive upgraded the rom from the o2 website and it has lost all the O2 software on the phone (which may not be a bad thing) but it has lost all the pre installed connection settings for the internet.
any ideas how to solve this or reset it back to its original rom settings
cheers guys
dazza
A hard reset should restore the settings, I dont understand why the settings are missing, did it go through the auto configuration routine where you choose your country and gsm/gprs prepay etc.?
Hi Dazza,
Mine did the same. I just have "USB v1.01" on the screen whilst it's in its USB cradle. If I take it out it displays "Serial v1.01". Pushing the Hard Reset buttons, and even removing the Battery just results in the same display.
Have you resolved it yet please?
Desperately yours,
Andy
It's mean you have fail to upgrade your Xda II ROM. Anda the ROM have been formated. You can put the Xda in the cradle, and run the original ROm 1.60.44. Good luck!

Hard reset after Rom upgrade Orange(SPV M1000), plz HELP!!!!

I upgraded the newest ROM from Orange website, with MMS. (And Tried the without MMS also) Now every time, i use the SPV for 1 day, the device will perform a hard reset. So if i dont use the device, it will auto turn to Suspend mode. Then if i want to use the device and push the power button, it normally goes on, but my device won't react. Only the phone led is flashing, so i have to take out the battery and in again. After that it performs a Hard Reset! You guys got the same problem? Anyone know how to fix this? Please help, many thanks in advance.
Device info:
Orange SPV M-1000
1.66.00 WWE
1.10.00
Upgraded to ExtRom: 1.66.230 (with MMS) or 1.66.200 (without MMS)

Help: ROM recovery

All,
I just move in to UK from Far East Asia. I have an Asian XDAII and successfully crashed it in an attempt to upgrade the ROM to latest UK-O2 version.
The screen is blank and show only a note reads "SERIAL". It won't connect to my PC for synchronization at all.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks for the help.
Steve
Sure, try to upgrade again...
1. Put it in the cradle (it will change to USB)
2. Run the update again...

When upgrading ROM is HARD RESET a must?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi.
I understand that a new ROM upgrade for the PDA2K should
be available from here within about a week. I was wondering if it would
be nessecary to make a HARD RESET to install the new ROM
UPGRADE that should be available within a few days for the PDA2K ?
P.S.
I hope they would also fix the low sensitivity MICROPHONE issue as this is
purely a software and not a hardware issue (with AGC the mic is perfect).
THANKS!
yes it does require a hardreset to work
well when you turn off your xda all the data is still in ram
when you upgrade the rom ram is automaticly cleared
i mean it have to be because the data in ram are from windows
and applications and when you upgrade the rom those programs and
windows applications would no longer be there or be in newer versions
so you dont have to hardreset it youself but it's don automaticly when the upgrade is don
In addition, the O2 documentation supplied with the (official) 1.72.* upgrade states that the upgrade process is quicker if you first hard reset your XDA2.
Thanks guys, I guess hard-reset it is

These are possibly updated versions of your area's stock ROM, the 1.58 radio would be a version 1 ROM, where the 1.65 radio are the version 2 ROMs.
Does it have Hard SPL installed? If not, see if it will install it, then you can install any ROM.
There are other things that can be tried using MTTY, but I am no expert on that - there is a thread on it though.

Could you tell us what you did, I mean did you already tried a hard reset or something simular, and which rom you where using when the phone freeze.
Hard reset
You can also perform a hard reset (also known as a full reset). A hard reset should be performed only if a normal reset does not solve a system problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings -‑ the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile® software and other pre-installed programs will remain.
To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the TALK and END buttons, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the left side of your device.
2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the TALK and END buttons until you see the following message on the screen:
3. Release the TALK and END buttons, and then press ENTER on your device.
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.
Important If Encrypt files placed on storage cards is or was enabled before, then backup all files from the storage card before using Clear Storage, hard reset or updating the ROM system software. Otherwise you will no longer be able to access the encrypted files on the storage card. Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to transfer files between your storage card and computer. After the procedure, copy your files back to the storage card.
