as corny as the topic maybe,
i need some help concerning it's "vibrator".
i've done some search but can't find what i was looking for.
so,
my hd2's "vibrator" died recently. the phone doesnt vibrate anymore.
but u can tell that its trying because the phone doesnt vibrate
but u can hear a slight click sound on the motor/actuator.
i've reflashed my phone to its original rom and spl and sent it in for warranty claims.
i'm just wondering how can the vibrator suddenly die. putting into account
that the phone has never been dropped before, has been handled with care, and it's practically new (date of purchase Jan 1st 2010). what could have caused it?
help and answers are much appreciated, thanks
regards,
edi

does it even not vibrate when you turn your device on?
i would say you should flash the stock rom and bring it to the shop where you bought it...or send it to htc...whatever..
i think its a warranty case...

i think i did mention ive done so.
flashing to stock rom spl etc.

i had the same issue. check if you "pressed in" the little glass of the led flash. if you do, the vibrator will stop working. i think its a design issue.. i sent it back and
they sad it works, because in the meantime the glass came out again... try sending it back for repair!
uh yeah, sorry mate...my mistake
i think i read it to fast
the reason...i think nobody can mention it exactly..
i would say its just a "normal" defect and it will only happen to 1/100000 devices or so just destiny

Nice disassembly tutorial, but in this case there is no need to replace the vibrator motor, it works just blocked by the plastic flash window. Pulling it out by a suction cup is a good instant fix but it is likely to be pushed back again. I faced the same problem right after buying my HD2, then I disassembled the phone, and noticed how weak the factory fixation is. Pushed back the window then fixed it with a VERY SMALL AMOUNT of 2 component epoxy glue. Stays in position since ~8 months.

PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!!
i went on flashing new roms and forgot about my original htc p3400i rom wm6.
can anybody please provide me an original untouched htc gene rom .please..
This is the original rom for p3400i (New GENE) released for Asia reigon. It doesn't have IPL, SPL or GSM parts so its absolutely safe to try. If phone doesn't boot, just reflash your previous flash after going to bootloader mode (tri color screen).

DO NOT TRY TO TURN ON THE PHONE!.
Remove battery and keep the phone on the back of the monitor / TV so that the water dries up. After some time, remove it from the monitor / TV and keep it like that for 3 to 4 hrs to be safe. Then put on the battery and turn it on.
Keep your fingers crossed and best of luck. BTW, then monitor / TV should be on .
The problem could be either with the battery or the circuit board itself as the earpiece is mounted directly on the board. So by hard luck, if the sweat drops entered the phone's motherboard, you may have to give it for repairs. Otherwise in case of battery problem do as Addicted said. But this is strange, i sweat a lot (i mean i am one of those who sweat more) but this didn't happened with any of my phones in last 6-7 years.
anyways, good luck with your phone.
Ok,its been hours now and the phone still isn't booting,i don't sweat that much but when the phone switched off the screen had a few drops on it so i figured that might have caused the switch off, what do i do now?the phone is technically still under warranty and since it wont boot will they still come to know about the SPL change?
and if my warranty is void, how much will the repairs cost?will i have to change the motherboard?

they directly do mobo replacement if they found water than your warranty is void
So if the water dries off and the device still doesn't boot, they'll replace the device?and could it be a battery problem?
and i have dog-teeth marks on the battery cover for about a month now,but not a scratch on the battery, will this void my warranty as well? =/
if it was sweat then they will easily identify it because sweat reacts with electricity flowing in the board and changes the color of the tracks...

dont worry too much about the SPL change ...most of the guys in HTC service know that we can upgrade the device ourselves...give it a shot ...take it to the svc center and you will be less confused...cos they will let you what you need and how much its gonna cost you...just a friendly suggestion...
n about the scrathes on the back cover should not make you warranty void...
As ankit told you that you should go to the service center ,forget the SPL because it is not booting and the people at SC will replace motherboard of your phone if they find everything normal,They rarely provides new genes,
Went to the service center today, they checked the screen and the motherboard, they wouldn't find the problem on the motherboard and didn't know why the device wasn't booting,So they said i'll be getting a new gene in three days

so finally no need to change the battery cover. BTW did u teased your dog with your phone's ringtones (I used to )?
Got my new Gene yesterday
Yeah they're replacing whole units now because the gene is going to be discontinued and the motherboard is too expensive to replace, the price quoted to me was 13000INR for a new GENE motherboard
Congratulations Angel, feeling good for you Have fun!

Hi,
few days back my phone fell down from 1st floor, battery and back case got removed from phone. after assembling back, the phone is working fine but gps is not working earlier it use to work well. Don't know the exact problem where is it. I went to service center but the guys there told gps will not work here, bring the invoice will do software update. I guess the gps module/antenna have problem. Can anybody help plz...
Like, send you a new phone, or?
Thank your stars that the phone is working atleast . Im surprised your screen didnt crack? Even defy would have hard time surviving such a fall.
If the phone looks intact, take it to service center and tell them that gps suddenly stopped working after firmware update.
Does Optimus One have that much good build quality to survive a fall from the first floor?
Okay i've never been the smartest person in the world but uh...how does your phone fall from the first floor? Wouldn't you have to be like....standing upside down on the ceiling for that to be an effective fall?

Maybe he was testing "Smartphone Skydiving" but the parachute didn't open.
On the serious it's definitely a miracle that the screen is not cracked/leaking (perhaps it will in a short while) so guru_urug's advice could be your only chance. Otherwise well.... it was your fault so just may have to live with it or be honest and try to sell the phone on your local eBay stating that GPS is damaged (of course you'll have to price it accordingly).
I think best option will be to sell it and buy new if they won't repair it on warranty.

Hello all
This is my first post here so let's hope I do everything correctly here
I have a Sony xperia Live with walkman (wt19i) which I dropped unfortunately and decided to replace it after a while because I was annoyed by all the cracks and was up for an experiment.
After a long search, I came up with this:
amazon.com/gp/product/B006MQFFZQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_hst_1
I also posted my findings there already to help other people who might want or need to replace their digitizer as well.
But the bottomline is that the screen sometimes just locks up or starts acting weird... then I have to lock/unlock and it is all OK again for a while.
At least once a day I have to take out the battery because the trick I explained above doesn't work anymore at all.
The hardware buttons do.
I have the idea that when I keep playing a game for too long; it locks up faster, so the device warms up.
I guess I already know the answer but I was hoping that someone had any idea's how to fix this as I already did the installment of the digitizer over again without much luck.
Thnx in advance!
Jelle
Hello! I was facing the same trouble with my Xperia Mini Pro which unfortunately expired yesterday.
I had to replace the digitizer+Lcd whichI bought off eBay (money wasted). One thing that you should see is what you use for sticking the screen unit to the phone (I am assuming that it was stuch to the phone using some kind of adhesive as this is the case in Xperias and maybe others too).
When I replaced mine, it was working fine until I used (very carefully) quick drying adhesive on the edges. My guess is that some of that got between the digitizer and the lcd by seeping in because after that, I started to experience the SAME issues as you. For me sometimes, rebooting would be the only thing to make it work again.
I hope it gets fixed for you soon. It only went downhill for me though

Hi there and thx for your reply.
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same kind of problems.
Unfortunately I've had this problem from the beginning, when I unpacked it, I could already see that it wasn't an original part under bright light.
I've used 1mm Wide Double Sided Layer Adhesive Sticky Tape Sticker for Mobile Phone, which I also bought on Amazon, despite of how hard it was to apply, it the replacement went fine with it.
The second time I took apart my phone just to see if I did connect everything well, I also re-applied the sticky dual sided tape.
But that did't really help.
But so i've someone has some knowledge or knows some tricks I can experiment with, that would be nice
I read something about heating up the phone like this thread here for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041943
I'm willing to try that if there is really no other option
But as I said, it's probably just a badly constructed digitizer I got from China.

But digitizer and screen are one unit and not intended to be separated. Maybe that's the problem!

Yes, I've read that here before, but my mind cannot really get around the why... ?
It wasn't like they were stuck together that I could damage the other when replacing it.
Neither were the parts sold together.
The screen still works and the digitizer as well, it's not like it's not working at all.
The digitizer just stops working after a while and when I lock/unlock again it works fine again.
As far as I remember I also had do connect the digitizer to the mainboard, not the display itself.
It isn't an easy issue, that's for sure
I put my XZU in the magnetic dock overnight and now the touch screen is acting all weird.
Could it break because of instable current?
Where I'm at the power is not very stable and I'm worried the phone is broken.
Is there anything I can do? Can't go to a repair center juat yet.. Will a factory reset fix it?
Give it a really good clean?

Really?
Imma go ahead and upgrade it to 4.3 with a clean installation, else I have to go get the warranty...
The place where I was charging it had very bad electricity with flicking lights and power breaks all night long, since I had it charging overnight the touch digitizer must've fried or something.
Can't really think of anything else that could've done it.

No there is a breaker inside the ultra going from USB and Magconnector to your device. This would break first and your device would stop charging. Which is a cheaper fix then your whole main board.
Sounds like you need to clean your screen... or a random issue that just started happening.. it should go away

Yet the phone stopped working after being on charge overnight... And really, the screen cannot get more clean than clean.
I was able to factory reset it after a while and I also upgraded it to 4.3 through Sony Companion yet the problem persisted.
I took it back to the shop and they agreed on that something isn't right with the hardware and I'll have it back in a few weeks in working condition.
Something must've gotten broken with the touch digitizer, I hardly believe it's a software issue.
Ah well, now I get to use my old Nokia 3310! :victory:
Hi, lately my phone is overheating from back bottom, pretty much whenever I use it, also my battery drains really fast, I'm running CM11, but I don't believe that's the case because I've got it for months and didn't have any problems. But lately I was on cruise and spilled some bear on it, my screen didn't work for day, now its working fine also 2 of my navigation buttons don't respond anymore (back button and "more options") What shall I do? I just bought this phone in January and don't really have money, shud I take it to warranty? Water damage sticker behind battery is not pink, only a little bit if u watch carefully (little corner). What should I do?
Sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand me.
Thanks in advance Tedre.

Most probably the water fried something up and the display is damaged. Try taking it to warranty and try ur luck. Hope they dun look tat closely at the water damage sticker and you should be alright. Just say tat when u used ur device, u realise tat ur phone has those symptoms and they MIGHT just help u change the device. Also rmb to go back to stock.

I would take to repair, otherwise damage may be increasing to make a much larger breakdown.
