Winmo messaging app? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!is there a cab to disable HTC messaging and enable the good ole winmo sms app? thi thing is getting on my nerves..
Any1 here done it successfully on HD2? Energy rom has it coked this way but i am not an avid fan of it.

I think the BsB Tweaks Package contains an option for that... "SMS Mode".... there you can switch to the classic view. (see attached Image)
BTW:BsB Tweaks I consider the best and most useful Tweak Collection ever for the HD2... I just love it!
Hope this helps...

Nope ..doesnt do the trick..in fact it seems to do nothing at all :3
Agreed, bsb tweaks is fascinating..

Titan m-2d rom request (Found One!)

How difficult is it to cook in manila 2-d, has anyone done it on the ppc6800 sprint titan. Is it possible to get a copy of it. There are some issues with the new BuildOS. Let them sort that out first. You should be able to build it in. I am running NueROM3 Pre3 kitchen with M2D. Swapped it back to my normal NueROM3 Pre3 because quite frankly I think M2D blows. But thats my opinion.
EDIT: After using M2D I actually love it!
Also, what build of CE OS are you trying to use in the kitchen?
Also, if you absolutely cant get it I can whip something up for you. Tell me what else you may want in it?
i'd like to check that rom out myself scrosler...not wanting much in it, rather clean. with the...
manilla 2d ui
nueusb
titlebardatehack
that's pretty much about it.
Clean is good, most folks have all the cabs to dirty it up themselves.
thanks in advance.

Ive got a ROM I am about to post for this thread. Its for Sprint right now. Because I am doing this with the PPC kitchen what carrier do you want me to use?
UPDATED: 1 Nov 2008
**NOTE 2 Nov 2008, 2:30AM Central Time**
There is a new thread devoted to my latest release, Round 4. Please see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441716.,
Thank you all for your support and feedback. I am no longer supporting the first three rounds but they will eventually get a link on my new download links in the post noted above. For now I have removed the links from the site and this post.
**END NOTE 2 Nov 2008, 2:30AM Central Time**
Ok,
Let me make one thing clear: None of this is my work! This is compilation of great works from all over the internet. If you see a screnshot that is your product please let me know so I can give appropriate credit.
Shout Outs go to:
First and Foremost
DCD, GC, and No2Chem - I learned quite a bit just by reading there posts and disecting the DCD kitchen and of course SEARCHING ;c)
But no less important
DogGuy, and Dutty (NBH Tools), All the artists that made these bad ass themes and pics that I bootlegged from all over the Internet and everyone else who made this stuff possible! Especially the guy that Made M2DC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392)
Ok, I have posted ROM's for all. Please download and enjoy.
I also made these ROMS using the PPC Kitchen. Please visit there site and try there kitchen then donate if you got the spare cash. Its great! http://ppckitchen.org/
Thanks for taking the time to download my work and try it out. I value all feeback but would prefer not to get my ass handed to me. Please be thoughtful ;c) It takes guts to post this sort of file to the web. I understand how important these devices are to people so I want everyone to know that I have tested the core of this ROM for over a week with no major issues. I also reboot daily (by choice)! But as always;
*USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG!*
*You also need to be on Bootloader 2.40 or 2.47 with a GPS radio of 3.3x.x and higher*
If you dont have that then please read the stickes at the top of the forum main page and go tot he Titan Wiki page to learn how to get there. I cannot help you with that part, just my ROM and its functionality. Here is a great tutorial from GAMedic at PPC Geeks that will walk through the steps of setting your phone up for a custom ROM.
GAMedic Tutorial: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33857
Im also VERY up to suggestions for additional software and possibly removing unwanted items in the rom.
Here is the of OEM's list I used. I made some myself and modified others yet while leaving some just the way they were.

ROM Without M2D active has about 25.75 Megs of RAM. (everything disabled except active) It runs VERY nicely with out M2D.
Just remember M2D is a memory hog but looks sooooo good!
Thanks again! Enjoy!
Round 1 - OUTDATED but still a popular choice!
Links removed
Round 2 - TOO BUGGY I HAVE BEEN TOLD but runs fine on my phoen- NOT RECOMENDED for anything other than testing purposes- Apps shut down alot when not being used because of REg tweaks I got from No2Chem's OEMS. I like this feature, alot of people dont! This ROM has the typical issue of TouchFlow shutting down when the device is under high memory usage as reported by some users.
Links Removed
Different Skin this time (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2709784&postcount=1535), minor bug fixes. Camera version 5. Latest 20755 CE OS. Newer build of Opera 9.
Round 3 -First Round based off DCD 3.2.6
Links Removed
This ROM was rebuilt from the ground up and based off the DCD 3.2.6 Kitchen. Its missing Opera, Audio manager, the Diamond dialer and the Diamond comm manager (Most people are happy about this) and has no custom boot screens as I did not want to start tearing apart the kitchen. It seems to be the most stable so far! More free ram at boot as well. Download, enjoy and provide feedback!
It was found that YouTube is not working proper on this ROM. No other bug reports thus far.
Round 4 - Coming Soon! Alpha testing is underway. This will be a "barebones" M2D ROM that is ready to run on first boot. It will include the CAB files that are needed to custoimize it to the way you want. I have added extra themes for M2D, the latest customizer, and all the M2D apps that people have asked for.
And I was just asked to post this by a user. If you like the ROM you are using and have a some spare change then by all means..... Otherwise donations are not mandatory to download, use, and get support of my ROM!

Oh, if you don't see your carrier let me know! I will put it up for you.

Row 3 (from left to Right)
Manilla 2D Customizer, CE OS Version, My Black Version of PS Shutdown
I will also use this post for announcements of new ROM's Bug fixes, etc. Read the thread and check back frequently. More importantly enjoy your phone!
35 Gigs worth of downloads and counting!!!!! At 57 megs average file size that is about 600 downloads in 10 days or 60 per day or 2.5 downloads every hour since I first posted the ROMS. Thanks everyone for trying it out!
Any chance you can release this as a rom? It looks pretty sweet.

Ok, I am having grimstar test it out now. He just installed about 1/2 hour ago. I did the Sprint version for him, I am on VZW.
Billy what carrier do you need?
let me test it too. i may use different aspects of the phone/programs that he doesn't and may discover some quirks that he won't.
Me too!

what's up wit the rom man. it was me that specifically asked for the rom...not grimstar, not understanding why he's the one doing the testing and wasn't the one to 'specifically' ask.
Is there any way i can test this on telus as well?

I have to say, I am very impressed with this rom. It's much smoother on my titan than dcd 3.2.6. On my device, I have about 17 mb free, but I feel like it's twice as fast as before. Great job!

This is a copy and paste from my blog on thoughts on this rom and 6.5.
http://www.blakemitchellweb.com/blog/?p=31
I use an HTC Touch Pro and recently installed a custom rom running Windows Mobile 6.5. This particular rom was made by Jakdillard and posted at XDA devs. I am not sure about too much of the information as to what parts are used from 6.5 and 6.1. First off I will say that I installed and let customization run first. This had TF3D install and I wanted to get more of a feel for sliding panels. When I disabled TF3D and reenabled Titanium (Thiis the name for sliding panels) it never launched. I thought that there may have been a problem so I did a clear storage. Installation went on again and I did a soft reset during customization. Upon doing this it started back like I had done a clear storage again. This time I let customization run again, did the disable of TF3D and reenabling of Titanium and once again nothing happened but after doing a soft reset titanium was up.
So the performance is pretty wretched. It lags a lot but it is usable. I was able to perform a phone call, get on the internet using the new version of IE, set up google sync in activesync and synced my calendar and contacts, installed and set up funambol for push email, installed amaze gps and was able to get a lock, use wifi, and browsed through pretty much everything. I installed Diamond Tweak and enable some of the tweaks that improve performance but did not see any improvement. When I had IE open my memory was at 85% and it dropped to 37% when I closed it so it is a bit of a memory hog.The new menus are pretty nice and do improve the finger friendliness of the ROM.I like the transparent softkeys and start bar visually, and I like the new honeycomb start menu, although I think it could have been more visually stimulating. Also, We are able to edit the icons that we use on the start bar like we could before and it does not do anything to mess up the new transparent start bar. I installed this cab by tsowen from ppcgeeks and it looks good.
Sliding panels seems pretty nice but there is also a but of a let down. Many people will prefer TF3D or one of the other plethora of shells that can be used on the today screen. Like many of the others shells and today plugins you can't use any other today plugins with this one. I like the look of the sliding panels but the let down comes from the lack of customization straight out of the box. If I could change it I would have sliding panels have each individual setting able to be disabled (i.e. I do not use text messaging because I use email. I would do away with the SMS panel.) Also it is missing some features that are getting integrated into other options. If sliding panels had the ability for developers to develop plugins to cover some of the other areas it would be phenomenal. It is missing some things like weather, rss, im, facebook, and stocks.
I am going to keep running this ROM for another day at least to get a little more familiar. Hopefully I will get a chance to make some screenshots, install second today and see how they play together.

no Problem you can find more updates for this over and www.ppcgeeks.com that is where I generally post
Yeah, I post there more often than here, but had not noticed that it was there until seeing it here and going there to look for it. I thought it was strange that it was here and not there and once I got there I realized you had it in that thread but it did not say 6.5 in the first post (or I overlooked it.) Anyway, I will keep a close eye on that thread.
This a good rom pretty pretty sexy lol ummm i understand its extreme beta an its good i hope yall guys keep doing it up an making it right...yall guys should work for microsoft an htc lol
I have been using Da_g's 6.5 beta 8 for almost a week now and LOVE it. I made the modification to the cpr files to make Titanium a little smoother and more responsive. But the only issues I am left with is when switching from portrait to landscape my phone messes up the image on my homescreen. It clips it and warps it a little. I can fix it by disabling and re enabling titanium or a soft reset.
It always comes back though - does this rom do that?
Also when using RSS hub sometimes the device hangs for up to a minute. On this 6.5. I did not have this on NATF's 4.3 before.
Any help would be appreciated!

Very Happy with it.
Except for memory and slight performance tweaking this build has been working great for me on my sprint touch pro.
Thanks to jakdillard and others who developed this.
Some screen grabs would rock my world. TIA
hot my blog on the first page there are several although with my own background image and different icons.

Perfomance is good, Touchflo is slow but that's a normality with .5 till a new version comes out.. other than that this is a nice ROM compared to others
stuck on align screen config page
after install kitchen rom, i am stuck on the align screen page. i tap on the + but it does not register. random circular motions cause it to advance to next location of + but it just repeats.
suggestions?
EDIT-
problem on my device is not limited to this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=490567
edit-
a couple of hard resets later and it seems to be working. weird quirk?
In any case, great rom.
Universal CDMA, Sprint, or Verizon?
I haven't seen anything posted saying this is carrier specific. Or what radio is compatible with it.
Can someone elaborate on that?

Cool, the Original is the best working (I also like Gullum's WWE ROM, but I prefer German!). I will try it now and report if there're any bugs or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Flashed your rom. Everything works really well so far. Responsive and fast. Thats it, great. Thanks.
Thanks for reply Hope you two like the rom
Works great, really tested all, no probs! Thanks.
Maybe you can include 3D Dialer Skin (Jade or something like that) for a full "look and feel"?

Yes thats a idea i already had today when calling some friends
You may also delete all dirs & files in "My Documents".
Keylock is activated by default. If the Niki is in standby or when using S2U2 wakeup is only possible pressing powerbutton. To solve this you can use following regkey:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD]
"KeyLock"=dword:00000000
Is this not the standard option? Cant't remember to change this
Also i like this, because i always push buttons in my pocket
whats that for a tab in manila2d: footprints?
Bitte warten... - but nothing happened
also it would better to fullscreen manila2d without bottom bar

This is why on Fooprints tab nothing happens. Just install Fooprint software for using fooprints.
Is it possible to fullscreen Manila? I had never seen it fullscreen
Full screen manilla = no!
Also it wouldn't make sense (how to access startmenu etc.).
In the meanwhile I have installed "Diamond Dialer Skin White". Maybe you could integrate a nicer dialer directly to the ROM as last todo.
BTW I used the ROM since release. All is working fine, except Bluetooth (I have to activate it before starting Navigon to get GPS signal, but this also occurs in HTC ROM - my old Niki worked ).
Thanks again!
Can you post your Diamond Dialer cab file.
Or what dialer do you want to see in Rom?
The dialer I use is just an addon and can be copied over (it's a cab that exchanges the graphics).
The "real" dialers are better, but I don't know where to find here (I believe you can find them in the german ROMs (like BD's one))
Think your Talking about Canvas Dialer (with slide to answer) or? But this is only a 2G Dialer (no Video Calls).
I take a look around and will test some dialers...
Yeah, Canvas or Opal. Would be great.
If you plan to **** a new version PLEASE remove all files in "My Docs" and in "Windows\Rings" and maybe also all unused alerts/rings in windows-folder (if you don't need them, I never did )

Yes i also never used this files
Only Standard Ring and Standard Alarm will bring problems, when removed.
Hi,
Does anybody know where I can get this rom? The download link in the first post is not working anymore.
Would be much appreciated.
Thanks

So I'm the first one not following the rules? I'm ok with that, hope you are
Seriously: I *would* love Da_G's minimal ROM if he'd somehow manage to power my QWERTZ keyboard and the FN-key to produce all the nice and fancy german Umlaute.
I'm downloading right now and I'll keep you updated about all findings I make...

I hear ya Schaggo This community does so much good in features, themes and tweaks for our devices, but the most basic (I know its not basic, but stay with me) question of making our TP keyboards work with international signs has never in my opinion been a priority; and I've been here since Orange SPV and Himalaya! (although mostly silently)
... and probably rightly so, as there's nothing fancy in fixing it. Problem is, after "fancy" gets old, what's left is the usability of the core "functionality" in our devices, SMS, Email, telephone, navigation... most of which become easier and more convenient if we could fully utilize our hardware keyboard...
If I could only do it myself...
Da_G once tried it, he didnt manage to get it working. So how should I...?
While QWERTY seems to be ok without the special chars on the keyboard, since they dont have stuff like ü ö ä and so on, its bearable not to have a keyboard. But my language is a fantasy language nobody speaks *giggle* and so we use stuff like ü ä ö all over the place... What a shame. I'll try the ROM nonetheless.
// Edit
+ I like the graphics. The boot- and loadingscreen visually appealing. As well as the homescreen.
+ Start menu with 4 rows is nice to have.
- Too many icons though, it looks cramped/messy. I dont like subfolders, but this might be an option to tidy up a bit.
- You use TouchFLO (HTC's finger scrolling engine) instead of the much more smoother one from Microsoft.
+ YES!! Hardware keyboard works with umlaute!!!
- TomTom 7 is integrated. I get it, you *hmhm* and some other people use it, I dont...
* Opera 9.7 seems to be coming along nicely...
more to come later...
Shots?
Bram, ya puttin up some screenshots soon?

I changed the Theme... and now I can't get the default one back. There isn't a Theme TSK that I can find.
stupid question but how is the listed IE8 app different than the one that comes with Win Mo 6.5?

[APP] SenseControl - Control your Sense

Hi All,
today I have something new for you: SenseControl.
With this very small app you can enable/disable SenseUI with one tap.
You will get two shortcuts (which you can use with SmartBoot my free boot manager for WM) in your start menu to easily enable and disable SenseUI.
You can edit the registry key to your SenseUI installation with any registry editor under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SenseControl\Reg_Key".
Initially this key has the value "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\Sense". If your SenseUI is installed in another RegKey then please change it accordingly!
Additionally I provide the source code of this app on my homepage.
Please download this app from here.
Thanks for sharing!
thanks for share. but it does not work with TMOUS HD2 stock rom 2.13.
Please be more specific!

did you try that?
please specify in more detail if you want some support
Will try it, because SmartBoot is one my fav apps !!!
This app sure seems to have advantages. Can it be used independently of Smartboot or do I need to install this app as well? And is it necessary to edit the registry key?
Works on my Verizon Touch Pro2, running MR2 Rom fixed by Mr X, I did have to do the Regedit to get it to work though.
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SenseControl\Reg_Key" initially has "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items \Sense", and I changed it to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items \HTC Sense"
nice program, another solution to help deal with the memory leak in WM6.5 or htc sense 2.5
works perfect with reg edit on my Fuze
Thanks
link not working
Hello
http://www.smartsolutions.net.tf/SenseControl.html is not working for me. Anywhere else i can download it?
thanks
I confirm lin is now working! thanks!! program works great on my TP2
Code uses SendMessage. It should be modified to use PostMessage
SendMessage waits for all windows to handle the message before moving on to the next instruction.
If not all windows handle it properly, which can happen with Sense 2.5, then the app will never terminate. Sense 2.5 will still shutdown, but that app will still be running in the background.
This can make it so that you cannot use the app twice without restarting or killing the process. It might eventually time out.
I ran into this with my weather city editor, using nearly identical code to stop sense. It would completely hang for some users.
Switching to PostMessage means all the windows will still get the message, but the app will not wait for it to be processed. So, it will terminate. Then it can be started again.
