I've did some searching on the Forum but haven't been able to find anything about this yet.
I've been playing with Android on my HD2 and I like the Icon that shows what kind of Data Connection is Active (3G/HSDPA).
It shows if the Connection is actually sending/receiving Data.
In WM it only shows if you're on 3G or HSDPA, and the signal strength. Does anyone know if there's a modification possible in WM, where it also shows the sending/receiving arrows ??

I have a HTC Touch Pro on the sprint network and I do not have a Data plan. I have installed NoData so I can connect just by wifi, but I am not sure if it is working. How do I know if it is working or not?
why dont you have data? especially on sprint with how cheap it is
Most places I go there is wifi available.
...So back to the question. How do I know if it is working?
there are diff icons for data connection over cell network and wifi
if you dont see the 2 way arrows starting up around the 3g or g or h whatever icon you got when you use data but have the wifi icon which look like a pinhead with spidersense lines out from
and you got data from the internet it works
I have a strange problem with web browsing on an HTC Hero connecting to the Rogers network in Canada.
When the data connection is not active, the icon on my Hero shows "3G". When it is used, it turns to "H".
When email or other programs access data, it switches immediately and I have no connection problem.
However, when web browsing, the connection frequently (but not always) times out, and the 3G symbol remains. I can always get it to work by switching to email and initiating a sync, which is annoying to do.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a reason that the browser would have trouble with the connection, but other applications wouldn't?
Hello everyone,
Today I flashed the newer I9100XWLP8_I9100XSALP4 (coming from the old LPQ firmware) FW, doing a factory reset/wipe and cache wipe.
I did this with the hope the wi-fi not working / not coming up from sleep problems would go away, and although I haven't tested more extensively, it seems they have.
However, I am noticing now that the wi-fi icon is not showing activity when I know I'm using the Internet (normally you see the down/up arrows blink). Any ideas why? I know it's not a live or dead situation, but I'm curious as to why this happens. It is also not cool when you have internet issues and you don't know if you are actually transmitting or not (useful to detect your modem is down for example).
The data icon does not seem to be affected by this problem as when I turn off the wi-fi, and the data icon appears, I can see the download/upload arrows flashing showing data transmission.
Thanks for your help
When I have one bar of signal its pretty much impossible to do anything online and with a 2 bar signal it can be hit or miss, browse the web, update apps, use a tether etc, the connection to the server just fails.
Using my old LG GT540 I could do anything online with a low signal although it was a little slow, I was wondering if anyone else had seen this, and if they have is the cause known, it could be my network I'm just trying to work out if its the phone.
It can show a HSDPA signal but data just doesn't get transmitted, I have also seen the HSDPA signal completely drop out before now with a 1 bar signal. Also has anyone seen it before the LFB update, but haven't after the update?
Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I have Alcatel One Touch Evo 7 tablet and after updating the software to newer version, it started having problems with the 3g modem - it can detect a network but it won't connect with any. Surrpisingly - whenever I connect with WIFI, the 3G or EDGE icon appears as well and it looks like I was connected to both WiFi and mobile network! I double checked the APN settings and it was working before - now it isn't... Is there some way to downgrade the software or flash it? I don't have a warranty for this tablet.
When you have active wireless connection, the "modem icon" only show signal strength, it's true that E or H depend on "what it hear" but that's all. So if modem get signal from umts it will show umts (even when he is unable to connect because of poor quality), because he thinks that he is connected to the GSM, but he is connected to net threw wireless. (like it have only one connection status for wireless and gsm)
And as for me, my evo7 behave the same way as yours when i have something wrong with APN, so my guess it that you have:
-apn or other settings problem
-signal strength - check your signal and other in settings
-hardware problem - maybe some interference with other components, like gps, wifi, ... (i have evo7 that have good gps but very poor gsm, and my friend bought evo7 that have GSM like a rock, hardly ever lose gsm network, but gps work like hell, sometimes never get fix or lose it all the time)
My question: How did you do software update? I somehow didn't find any room or how to do that.
