Hi guys I seem to be having problems getting my album covers to show in some albums. On previous HTC phones ive simply put the cover in the album folder called cover.jpg or folder.jpg I think but now its not working on albums or not at all and they are embedded already in some and ussing that.
Ive also tried the renaming of file trick ie (xxx.vin)
Also looked for the "Update Album Art" option which doesn't seem to be here on Cloudy 1.5 rom so I'm assuming its only in stock?
How can I get it to automatically get cover or how can I manually add it myself? Or is there a decent app that will do it all automatically like embed the album cover to folder and also teh singles covers into the mp3's?

Hi Lads
Go here and download double twist, I had the same problem, but this free program fixed it and have my album covers showing in my HD2

I'm not sure if others have had this problem but I'll explain anyway.
Last week, I spent hours and hours renaming all of my incorrectly named songs and setting the artist and album info. I done this for about 600 songs, at the time. I went onto the music player the next day to find that all the changes I'd made, were gone. So it wasn't showing album/artist info and some songs were back to being named wrong.
I'm just wondering if this is a problem within the Xperia S, or whether mine just decided to play up on me.
I don't really want to try it again until I know for sure (because of hours wasted) Any help would be great

I'm not sure but I think it's an Android 2.3+ problem. On my previous phone Motorola milestone, running on android 2.2, the tags and names of the songs, artists etc. were placed in the right order with the right tags etc.

I did think that myself, but my bro has galaxy s2 and my mate has xperia x10 and they're both running on 2.3.7 like mine but haven't had the same problem.

OP did you just change the file names?
The player is reading the ID3 data, so unless all of it right you wont get the correct info on screen. This means changing artist, album artist etc etc. I recommend "Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor" www.mp3tag.de/en/. Its donateware and performs perfectly in both directions.
I suggest you use beets (beets.radbox.org). It is a command-line based automatic tagger / library organizer that uses MusicBrainz to automagically (!) identify your music. So you just go into a folder with 1.mp3, 2.mp3 etc. and run beet import .
Have you used the SensMe functionality? If you do, that's one of the culprit. It takes your music info and tries to match it with Sony's database. It then renames all the music in the library. The only way to put it back the way it was is to retransfer all the files.

No I didn't just change the file names, I added all the artist/album info aswell. Does MP3tag work straight from phones, as that all I've got access to use?

I did attempt to use beets but then noticed it's a desktop based program. I don't have access to a computer "/

As I am still on other phone yet, I can't say for sure if it will work. Try Mp3 Editor or something like that from GPlay. Do it with a few songs, restart the phone and listen to all of them. If none of them have problems, keep doing it with the rest of the songs. I know it will be a hard job, but it's the only solution I can think from the phone.

Try droid3tagger from market, uses acoustic fingerprinting to identify tracks and can be set to automatically rename them.

I went with iTag Music Tag Editor instead and it's doing the job. I even restarted my phone after doing a few and all is still ok. Just long-winded having to do one at a time

I said that app as an example. I said to restart because, when I have done that with my musics on my X10 Mini Pro, all my musics corrupted. I already knew my SD had (and still have) problems, but the app finished broking all my files...

When I took some pictures and opened my gallery I noticed a "Blinkfeed" style gallery with "Friends" etc.....Here's the thing...I don't want that crap in my gallery...I actually like Blinkfeed in that it is basically a nicer looking widget for my social apps...but I don't care to see that **** in my gallery when it's already on my homescreen.....I've tried to find ways to disable it on facebook...but to no avail....I'm kind of confused as to why it's even on there and not just the pictures I took or downloaded....Not sure I described exactly what I mean....I'm coming from a Samsung Infuse and never saw that...although it's gallery file manager was crazy enough.

Click the menu button in the top right (The three dots) then select ADD ONLINE SERVICE and just unselect the ones you don't want to see
Yeah, I'm kind of annoyed with that as well. I don't have Facebook, and I also turned off syncing with Google Photos, DropBox, Flickr and Picasa. Yet, I still have a blank "friends" block in my gallery. I'm not sure how to get rid of that. Went into "apps" and tried the method of deleting the cache and data and starting over, but it's still there. Oh well.

download facebook apk from app drawer.com. and install. this way i was able to remove photos from gallery coming from facebook.
I've recently install the Sygic Sat Nav app on my Z2.
The problem is all the avatars, emoticons and pictures from sygic are showing in the gallery and album apps.
Is there anyway to hide these? I've tried the .nomedia file but no luck.
Thanks

Upon the first start of Sygic, the user can either purchase a map or activate a free trial. For the purposes of the free trial, any map can be downloaded. Sygic will let you use the map and the app with almost full functionality for a whole week before you are asked to purchase.Sygic boasts a variety of functions. This includes, of course, normal navigation through the input of a desired address: simply select the appropriate country, enter a city, street and house number and you can start your navigation. In addition, a home address can be stored.

I think, the extension for SmartWatch 2 will be available in Google Play, and it will let SmartWatch 2 receive navigation information, via Bluetooth, from the smartphone. Users will see a detailed map on their wrist, making it easy to navigate on foot. You will be able to see your current position, as well as your route, and there’s also a neat zoom function which lets you take a closer look at your map.

I dont know why the .nomedia option isnt working for you, anyway 2 options for you, you could either try making a folder called .nomedia and put all the sygic pix inside that folder, or a slightly longer way would be to edit the names of the pictures you dont want visible, just add a full stop at the start of file name..... eg if pic you want to hide is called pic1.jpeg you would change it to .pic1.jpeg then it wont show in gallery

about the .nomedia thingy.
i kinda hate it that all the album covers are shown in the gallery.
.nomedia DOES work for sub folders, right ?
So is there a thing such as .nophoto ? because i have mp3 files and the cover as .jpg in the same folder.

Creating .nomedia file in any folder that contains images that you don't want to see in album should work (after restarting, of course) maybe that can work for widget as well...

I dont like xperia album app. I am not able to Create a new folder even. I really like samsung gallery app. Is there a way to install it? Or do you know any other Solutions?
My Device is Non-rooted.
Try app called f-stop

I use an album called quick pic, you can "hide" folders which is handy because there is not a great deal I hate more than having album covers in my pictures folder.
Cannot create new folders though due to 4.4.4 sd write protection
Quick pic is very nice app, but it's really annoying when you have a lot of albums and you have to wait for thumbnails to load each time.
