Hi guys, is there any way to decrease the backlight? My screen is so bright and it causes higher power consumption i think.

Im getting 115-142mA with the phone idling with the display on with wifi on.
With data enabled/wifi off it jumps to over 200mA.
Having Bluetooth on but not paired didnt seem to make any difference in battery consumption.
Having GPS on but not in use also showed no increase in battery consumption. However, having gps in use (had navigation running in background) caused the battery to spike to almost 400 before settling around the low/mid 200mA range.

Thanks for answer
What is your brightness level?
What about data/wifi/gps off and brightness set to ~40%?
Sorry if i'm bugging you with so many questions, but i have a HTC HD Mini and i'm running a ported Android from sd card and i'm trying to figure out how is the battery life compared to the original

If I turn data/wifi/gps off and put brightness to somewhere between 30-40% approximately it sits between 91-98mA. My original posts were made with auto brightness on.
And its no bother. Takes seconds to adjust settings and I just left the phone sit for 5mins with display on.

Thanks again mate,I appreciate that
Well..with the above settings I have ~150mA,so the difference is 50mA,not bad (hope devs will get rid of this difference )
What do you guys have your Brightness set to??? Mine is Half. Even tho i wanna make it Full brightness. But that may do something bad for the screen being that bright all the time. You think?

The only thing it will effect is battery performance. I have mine set to about 75% as I don't like the auto brightness
Yea..i was wondering how bad it would affect it. My battery lasts a long while. I should just test it.
Plus..my inner knowledge of this Tab isnt so good. Like..on a laptop..if you have the brightness jacked up to high..you could burn out your backlight. What will happen in terms of this GTab if you have it up to high?
LED

The back light on the gTab display is LED vs the cfl backlight. LEDs should last longer than cfl and don't decrease light output with age as cfl tends to do.

Thanks alot for your help bro. So you think if i used it at full brightness...nothing bad really will happen? Cept maybe kill battery life. I have mine at 75% now like you. Should be good enough.
So, what exactly does Power Saving mode do? Have seen reports for the GS3 that it lowers clock speed, others that say it disables a core, so obviously there is no consensus as to what it does. It's not that I need it, this battery is beastly, but I am curious as to exactly what it does.
When you click power saving in the settings (instead of just switching it on) it tells you, but it dims the screen and changes the browser to a blue hue to reduce battery drain and also turns off haptic feedback, it also limits your processor speed to 1.1ghz instead of 1.6ghz

I use it at night alot because it dims the screen. i notice about 30% longer battery life...i just recently netted 50hrs of battery life with 7hrs screen on. still had 12% remaining!
HOX+ even when on brightness 100% does not allow for comfortable reading in direct sunlight. (compared to the iphone, HOX+ is a joke). Is there a way to increase the brightness past 100% ? On the HOX for instance, i used Jotha's Advanced power menu with autobrightness; when flashing APM pure (meaning without autobrightness patch) my screen lights up drastically and allows for direct sunlight reading.
Jotha's MOD has some issue on the HOX+ so I do not want to use it
Any ideas on how to improve ?
thx

Are you using power saver function? If yes, turn off brightness option from it because it reduces maximum brightness down..

You might have a screen protector that covers the light sensor, try getting an anti glare, matte screen protector, they reduce reflections and make outdoor viewing just that little bit easier, also make sure it has cut outs for the sensors, I think the Seido one does but not sure. It might also just be a software flaw, try using Lumos from google play, it adjust brightness way more effectively than stock auto brightness and can even vary the brightness of the buttons to different situations.

Is it a wise choice to under clock CPU when the screen is off?? Will it save battery?? Will it cause hardware issues??
No hardware issues at all. But phone will wake slower.
Battery saving will be limited to a small amount.

Some governors will automatically set your device to the lowest frequency when the screen is off...so it should be fine.
Thnx for the reply guys. The battery difference I see (by underclocking when screen off) is atleast close to an hour.Am just glad that it wont be causing any hardware issues as such. Really appreciate your replies.
