[Q] My Ringtone Folder missing... - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So as my title says my ringtone folder is missing within my my document folder. I am totally new to the HTC HD2 phone (just got it yesterday) and I've read how to personalize your ringtone, but when I connect my phone to my computer (PC and Mac) and I open up "My Documents" the only folder inside it is "My POI" folder. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

I have an mac and a PC. On the mac there is no option to choose from and when I plug it into my PC I only see "open files", "back up", and "speed up" (or something to that content) and the "play music" and "add picture/video".

the "root of my device" is windows right? haveing trouble installing SSPL

i know this is a noob question...
i have run the sda unlock program and it says it is unlocked.
then i copied the 3 files from the sspl folder to the windows folder on my phone.
then i unplugged phone from active sync.
then i ran the SPL icon that is white with a blue header with 3 little white dots in the right hand corner of the blue box.
my phone immediately says this:
"Can't find 'JumpSpl' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and file name are correct and that all the required libraries are available."
all help is appreciated.
GnatGoSplat explained it to me. the root directory is the upper most directory, like c:/ on your pc. so it was the first folder when i explore my phone in active sync.
thx agian GnatGoSplat
Not quite. Activesync opens up to the "My Documents" folder by default when you explore your device, even though it may say "Mobile Device". You need to go up one level by clicking the PDA icon in that default folder that says "My Windows Mobile-Based Device" to get to the root directory. You should see folders for Databases, Application Data, Windows, etc.

How can i read the HD2 windows folder on my pc?

How can i read the HD2 windows folder on my pc?
Edit..
There has to be a way im just missing something simple.. trying to learn a new scripting language (well new to me lua) and it would be nice to be able to edit it in dreamweaver and check to see the edits in windows before i launched it.
it's a view thing
don't know which version of windows you're running, but go to folder and search options (or folder options), then on the view tab, push the radio button to view hidden files and folders, then click apply.
vista.. so should i be opening it in disk mode or active sync?
im trying it in disk mode noe but its still showing an empty folder.. this has to be some simple ass **** im just overlooking
i changed all my permissions to show extensions , protected system files and hidden files.. and still cant see anything in the hd2 windows folder/
ok got it..
control panel.. customize... hidden files.. allow hidden filles/ extensions/ protected files to be shown..
then un plug and re plug phone back in as active sync and there they are
Thanks!
just for info disk mode only allows access to the sd card.
in my experience the windows folder takes so long to open through the pc explorer that i
create the file on the pc,
copy to the sd card
use phone file man to copy into windows
test it, if more work needed edit the copy already on the pc, and copy that to sd then phone file man again to copy over the one in windows.
a bit awkward, but still quicker than the two minutes it can take to open when you try to open the windows folder from the pc.
Im probably missing something really small here..
Running Windows 7 Pro x64 (desktop)
I have unticked the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" in Windows Explorer and can see the Windows folder on the HD2
...... BUT.......
When I click onto it, Windows Explorer just sits there loading, and loading... and just sit there loading. Nothing comes up.
I have even left it for over 10 minutes and it still sits there loading. When I try to close Explorer, it tells me the program has stopped responding and crashes.
Any ideas ?

I've got Win7 x64 as well. Loading the Windows directory on the HD2 is really slow - maybe 2 minutes? - but it does load. Not too sure what your problem is; perhaps antivirus is interfering?

(tutorial)to move/install apps to sd card on an unrooted LG P500

Connect your phone to the pc and dont
activate "USB Storage" mode
1. Download the SDK from here -> http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2.Extract using something like WinRar
3.Copy the folder in the sdk and name it
to "android-sdk-windows" and paste it
onto the desktop.
4.Open the folder on the desktop and
open the file, SDK Manager.exe
5.Close the windows command prompt
window that opens
6.Untick all options you are prompted to
download and cancel the first download
window
,now in side menu open "available
packages" and select "SDK Platform
Android 2.2 & 2.3" and in Third party
add-ons select "LG Electronics" and click
on "Install Selected" button and let
download complete,
ensure the LG USB drivers are installed
if not
download from here -> http://www.lgforum.com/resources
Just check this video and you'll
understand what to select and
download in SDK MANAGER.EXE
(watch at 480p else its blurred)
7.Ensure on your phone, USB Debugging
is
on
Go to Settings->Applications-
>Development->USB Debugging and
ensure its ticked / on.
8.Dont activate "USB Storage" mode
9.Open windows command promt. Start
-> Run
10.Type in (without quotations ) "cmd"
The following should appear. (with your
user account instead of William - note its
"users" in windows 7, not documents and
settings)
11. Type in the following after the ">" at
each step (without quotations,and
including spaces and capital letters)
"cd desktop\android-sdk-windows
\tools" (might be "cd desktop\android-
sdk-windows\platform-tools" in windows
7 )
"adb devices" (it will show your device
id)
"adb shell"
A $ sign should pop up
now type
"pm setInstallLocation 2"
Another $ should pop up
And your done. Close everything,
disconnect phone, turn off phone and
then turn it back on again.
16. Now the phone will be set to install
all apps you install onto the SD card.
However, current apps on phone will
mostly still be stored on the internal
memory .
This process doesn't move these apps for
you .
So you must now manually move those
already installed on the phone.
To do this, go to settings / applications /
manage applications
Then you just click on an app, and the
move to SD card box should no longer be
Grey .
So you must now move all the apps you
want onto the SD Card.
I MUST NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOUR BELOVED O1
today many phones are rooted but still someone will be there who does not want root for them try this :fingers-crossed:
This process is more complex than rooting the phone :banghead:

[Q] Help needed : no more access to internal storage

I'm no more able to access my personal data/folders located on /mnt/sdcard/
I only see 2 (empty) folders "external_sd" and "usbStorage".
But I'm quite sure my personal data is still there, but it doesn't show up because access rights are gone ?
- All the apps I previously installed (partially on internal storage) are still working
- When I take a picture with the camera : no picture is stored on the device ! And no more former picture can be viewed
- When I check the storage parameters, I get 12 Gb USB storage free / 12 Gb total
- Access from my PC : same result, only "external_sd" and "usbStorage" are visible
My phone is rooted
I really would like to recover my photos / videos, so please don't say "reinstall everything" unless being sure that the usb storage won't be erased.
Anyone able to help ? I would really appreciate, thanks in advance

Hi,
1. Whenever you ask for help please provide some basic (important) information;
- what step/steps you performed before your issue appeared?
- what's your current rom/kernel?
2. If you are on a stock or stock based JB rom, what do you see when you go to /storage/sdcard0 with a file explorer? If not (you are on AOSP/AOKP rom) you may need to find "/emmc" folder for your internal SD card.
3. USB storage is what is seen on your phone from your PC (while connected via USB port). Go to a custom recovery (if you have one) then "Mounts and storage > mount USB storage", connect your phone to pc via USB cable and report what you see. If you didn't install Samsung KIES app before you may need to install Samsung USB drivers
Try ur memory card with another device, may be its corrupt
Go to cwm select mounts and storage and choose mount/sd card
Reboot
You can try moborobo pc suite to connect to ur pc
Hit thanks if i helped

Hi,
thanks for your advices.
Let me first give you some more information as requested by Many40 :
My original device : [SHW-M250K] (the korean SGS2)
I installed Official XXLQ5 Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware 5 months ago, so I got a GT-I9100 with a 4.0.4 version of Android. Notice no problem since.
Kernel version : 3.0.15-I9100XXLQ5-CL753921
1. I didn't perform special steps before the issue appeard. I noticed the problem fortuitously 2 days ago. The only thing that could be linked to this issue is when I tried (the day before issue) to install Copilot on my device, while having Swiftkey already installed. This made some kind of mess, I had to kill the Copilot application and swiftkey was no more working at all. Some posts on the web explain that Copilot and Swiftkey are not compatible...
2. I cannot see any /storage/sdcard0 folder on my phone (neither when connected to my pc)
3. I don't have any custom recovery, I don't really know what it consists of. Could you please provide some details ?
@[email protected] : the problem is not an external sd card, but the internal storage.
I will have a look at moborobo, let's see if it helps.
Thanks and looking forward reading from you
Try restore factory settings
Do make a backup
It may help u
Hit thanks if i helped u

I restored factory settings, but there's nothing new :
- no personal file/folder visible in internal usb storage
- unable to store a photo taken with the camera (photo library keeps empty)
Any other suggestion ?
thanks
It may be a virus or your files are hidden
Try moborobo pc suite
Sent from my GT-S7500
Hi [email protected],
we are progressing a little bit !
I installed moborobo and the file manager shows me now all folders on the usb storage (my personal folders and system folders like e.g. DCIM/Camera). This shows that the folders were hidden.
But each folder is still empty (contain no file at all), so it seems the files are still hidden. Is there any moborobo/other feature allowing to have them visible ?
I also tried to take a photo : now it works, and the photo is stored under "DCIM/Camera"
thanks
In my files in ur phone go to settings and select option then select show hidden files
If this does not help u tell me if u are able to connect through mass storage
Sent from my GT-S7500
Showing hidden files does not help.
And yes I'm able to connect through mass storage (using "Set USB cable connection mode" and "Connect storage to PC")
It gives me 2 drives : E and I
E: shows nothing ("please insert disk in removable drive E")
I: displays the folders as they are visible in Root Explorer on my device
I tried to change the access rights on I: with following instruction in cmd :
attrib -S -H /S /D *
But didn't help...
Install mobile drives from moborobo pc suite
Then in folder options in ur pc select show hidden files
Then open cmd and type
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
Replace g with drive letter
This should fix your problem:thumbup:

Sorry but I'm unable to find anything about installing "mobile drives" from moborobo... could you please give me some hints ?
Am I supposed to find this from the moborobo "Apps" tab ? (under "Applications")
Enable usb debugging in ur mobile then connect it, moborobo will automatically install drivers
Sent from my GT-S7500
When I enable usb debugging in my mobile and connect it, I get a kind of mapped drive named "GT-I9000", but with no drive letter (see attached screenshot)
And no way to access it from cmd, as it is not really considered as a drive.
And launching Moborobo does not add any additional drive... Did I miss something ?
"Run "regedit"and select the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/MountedDevices" folder. See all the "Dos Devices" listed? You'll have one entry for each physically mounted drive (HDD or Disc) plus you'll have one show up for each USB drive you attempt to insert. Double click each device listed and seeifyou seetextsaying something like"U.S.B.S.T.O.R...". Once you find that device, right click it and select "Rename". Now change the drive letter to something unused... like Q: or something. Close regedit, disconnect the USB device and reconnect
Sent from my GT-S7500
Sorry for my late reply, I was away for some weeks.
I was able tu run the attrib command on the internal usb storage drive, but got no more lost file/folders... I assume the file and folders are definitively lost
I even tried a recovery tool mith no more success.
Thanks anyway for your help, and for the time you spend providing me your advice.

have to tried with a different cable? When did this start to happen?
And different ports as well. USB A to C using USB 2.0 port.
Enable USB debugging in the Developer options, that should do it.
Cheers
Tom
Thanks a lot for your replies guys. I find the solution.
I have desinstalled the Driver of "android ADB" and replug the Pixel 6 and it works but only with an USB 2.0 port . with and USB 3.0 (blue) it doesn't work...).
I am new in this forum. I have some questions about this forum. These questions are shown below:

If anyone has information about this thread. Please guide me below. I am very confused about that .
Android gives you choices how to use the USB connection, including:
PTP - it's crap, don't use it
MTP - it's crap, don't use it
No data transfer - yes, use it
"No data transfer" does not preclude use of ADB.
Learn ADB, grok it in fullness, hold it closely to you like a lover.
With ADB you can transfer all that you need.
Moreover, there are many utilities that run over ADB that can allow you to synchronize your stamp collection.
One of these utilities is my humble AdbSync.exe which I probably use every day on multiple devices
(It's in the signature.)
