Hello!
My HD2 will arrive this few days, and the new version of Opera have support Flash(HD2 built-in Opera not support Flash). So can i upgrade my built-in Opera? but i've heard some cases when a user upgraded is Opera Browser, the new version's Opera will NO MUTLI-TOUCH? Should i upgrade or how to upgrade to keep Mutli-touch working?
Also, when my HD2 arrive, i should charge how long time(first charge)? 16 hours?
And i want to buy a cases, i've saw the Otter Commuter&Defender case, i want to buy commuter, is that good? Or sth. more better? I don't want my HD2 LCD broken by dropping down from my pocket/hand!
Last, i know i will lose warranty if i flash rom, but also WinMo6.5.3? Is there Offical 6.5.3ROM now?
Thanks.
Who can answer me???
There is a thread here on adding flash support to 9.7, I use the old version and Skyfire for flash browsing (I don't do much as the Youtube viewer is fine for my purposes)
I have an Otterbox Commuter and it is a great case very secure, the defender is a little bulky for my tastes have a look here for a fullreview.
Ok, thanks!
And how about first charging and Windows Mobile 6.5.3???
Thx.
no need for 16 hour first charge with lithium ion batteries, though i would suggest at least 20 minutes charging and then play with it plugged in, dont want to discharge it immediately.
The battery should come with a reasonable start charge, so yes charge it, but no need for untouched 16 hours.
Once it IS charged, keep it off charger for a good few hours, let it run down a good way, (over night is good) and the battery monitors can get callibrated.
afaik there is no official 6.5.3 rom out there.
if i'm wrong and there is one, pls let me know..i would like that
but that doesnt matter.
just install hspl and flash a costum one..warranty is void since hspl is installed, but you can uninstall it easily.

lol, thats the point, it doesn't matter, the battery doesn't need priming. basically, so long as you don't unpack it and immediately run it flat then you will be fine. i only said give it 20 mins because i know we all wanna play immediately, so plug it in, go make a coffee and you will be ready to play.
OK, thanks!
My HD2 will arrive tomorrow!

Anyone know where I can buy a extra battery for the TP2? I have found a couple in the UK but would rather find a seller in the US.
Part# - BA S390
Is the part# listed above the correct battery for the TP2?
Mine actually says "RHOD160" on the back of it...
I found a 1500mah battery on ebay (item# 250445669999) with a "buy it now" for $8.95.
Anyone have any experience with this "replacement" battery. If so, how does it compare with the original battery which is 1500mah also?
****Update****
I also found this 1500mah battery on ebay (item # 270409538954) with a "buy it now" for $21.99

I stick with genuine batteries now as I had a bad experience with after market batteries. My TyTN2 has issues turning on, and randomly turns off - even after I put the genuine battery back in. It seems the after market battery did some permanent damage.
I recently received some 1500mah batteries for the TP2. I purchased 3 units. I have a friend that will test these batteries before I use it. I will use one for the office, home and the other one will be opened and my friend will inspect the board and cell of battery. He usually takes about a week to do these test so, I will give you a update next week, if possible.
I dont really have a problem with the battery life of the TP2. Its just in case I forget to charge it over the weekend, due to my drunken stupor. Its nice to have a backup battery at home or work.
maybe I'm the only one with short life battery problem on rhodium... but I have to complain... after 3 times I've charged ...the battery dies in the evening.
maybe I must be patience and maybe it will improve after some charging cicle...but for now I'm disappointed.
anybody've seen a better battery on market for TP2?
well... i been an iphone user for a long time..
well since the first gen came out...
i still own an iphone First Gen (2g)
and now i been with the TOuch Pro 2
for about 3 weeks..
i love the TP2...
i did a test.. a little one tho..
i live in NEw YOrk.. in the bronx
i had to go to the JFK airport
in train so it was arround 1 hour and 20 minutes
maybe the trip...
i charged both phones to 100percent...
i was listening to music the WHOLE TRIP with the Iphone
and the TP2 was Idle...
when i got there... my iphone still was 100...
the TP2 was about 91%....
another stuff that i know it drains a little my battery from the TP2
is beejive but i cant live without it, i been trying a lot of methods to
increase my battery, cant see it perform better..
TP2 fully charge in the morning and it dies before 7pm..
just Textin, and some phone calls ( about 3-5 calls )
no website .. if so maybe 1 website .. no emails no push anything...
no bluetooh no wifi...
i ordered an extra battery and a craddle i hope this helps me.
something i figured was that the charging is REALLY FASTTTT....
it can go out 20% in about 15-25minutes of charging
( wall plug ) ... dont try to charge from USB it will take u 200 hours LOL
when i first got it i always charged from usb and used to take me like 8 hours
even more to fully charge it.. but when i tried from the wall plug..is Amazing
how fast it charges..

my iphone battery was still 100%...

Peace dude.
Not saying that your statement is false or deceiving, just that your iphone battery meter was lying to you.
Clearly the battery level can't be at 100% after 1 hr 20 min of use. The meter must only drop when the battery gets to a certain level. Kinda like when you fill your gas tank and the needle stays on full for the next 50Km.
You must have the 1% increment tweak installed. Notice how a couple of minutes after taking it off charge it drops to 99%. At least this is realistic aye enjoy your TP2.
I found the screen brightness was one of the biggest battery killers. Since I took it off auto adjust and set it to full brightness all the time, the life had significantly decreased.

I don't believe you.. I dare say that because I was a user of iPhone 3G.. battery is hopeless.. I SURELY didn't get that kind of situation.. My wife still has an iPhone 3G.. also can't replicate your kind of situation..
In anycase, I do not believe any mobile phone device, listening to music at >1hr can still be at 100%.. surely the battery reporting driver has gone haywire..
However I'm not saying TP2 doesn't have battery reporting issues. Infact most HTCs I use seem to report battery differently at times.. usually after a soft reset, it shows a different battery status.

It's just about how you use the phone.
I normally get a bit more than 2 days out of one charge, but then I'm calling and writing, surfing and checking EMails every 30 minutes, youtubing and listening to music.
Now I went over my data plan so I disabled the Mail-checking and did not listen to music for a while. The battery now lasts for 3 days with already 60% left.
I would say, one week battery lifetime isn't much of a problem if you don't use the phone's functions in any matter

Anyone bought one of these? Seems cheap - but if it works...
Comparin iPhone 2G with TP2 is not an apple for apple comparison. First compare with the ipHone 3G (Remember how poeple complained their 3G was lasting really less than their 2G and were switching from 3G to 2G to spare battery life ?)
Besides as many underlined the battery meter from iPhone is decieving (The TP2 has issues but less I believe)
In the end my TP2 last rougly 136 hours an I am quite a hevay user. Even if the iPhone last longer (I dont have an iPhone so cant compare both feelings, and my previous remarks come from my friends' experince who own one), the nice point with the TP2 is to be able to replace the battery with another one
wu dudes, well,my tp2 comes in 7 days.... i'll test it and than post here about life batery.... and freeway4you maybe u charge your batery when its not 0%. if you do that the batery is gonna be weak. sorry the english...

Yea i've had that same exact problem today, charged it, went to sleep and i woke up it was almost empty. I went back to the shop and replaced it, i'll see what happens now. Although after doing some research I think that it has to take some cycles to reach full capacity. Good luck bro ...
First of all, hello to everyone. I have been reading through a lot of threads here in the last few weeks after getting my HD2, especially the ones about battery life.
I have never owned a smartphone, so I have no comparison but I'm barely getting through 1 day of use when fully charged! And I'm not even using it that much yet, Wifi is off, no data transfers, just some texting and calls. I have installed Bandswitch and Battlog, didn't really help though.
Got the phone brand new (T-Mobile US) and haven't done any major tweaking yet, it's still pretty much stock with a few programs that I installed so far.
Do you guys have a similar experience or is it completely different? I love the phone, but if I dont even get through one day of use (and I want to use the phone in the future, not just for surfing but for music streaming or web browsing), I would have to bring it back.
Any help appreciated!
It's just something you have to live with, buy a spare battery, or the extended battery, flash a lighter ROM, adjust screen brightness turn off push e-mails etc etc.
I can get 2 days battery from very light use. i.e. a few texts and calls a day, no Wi-Fi, bluetooth or internet browsing. That's just how smartphones are.
So how do you do it on a daily basis?
My battery is fully charged in the morning and lets assume I'm using the phone for what I bought it for - some music streaming, gps here and there if I need it, some web browsing, calls and texts etc.
I haven't even started using most of the features of the phone and my battery has died twice on my already while I was out at night.
How can that be normal or acceptable? I can't charge my battery every 6h...

Maybe you shouldn't have a smart phone? Battery technology is ****, it's a shame, but it's true. The only thing I can suggest is a spare battery, I carry one everywhere.
I generally watch an hour and a half of video a day on my phone, text, call, use the internet and I can still make a 9 hour day with 40%+ battery left, and just incase I am out and about in the evening before I have a chance to get the phone on charge I have the spare.
But with that said half hours charge from the mains will give you a good 30% topup I very seldom have to swap the batterys and I use a pretty juicy ROM.

or maybe not
Given his kind of use, 2 days should be normal. Right now I'm squeezing 3 days out of this battery, and that's only because I swap it out when it's at 10%, otherwise it could be a little longer... and a few calls here and there is not the only thing I did with it... it's still my work pda after all
Since it's pretty much stock, unless it gets better with time (the first recharging cycles are the worst) and even after a hard reset it won't get better, it probably is something wrong not software related.
Install battclock and check the standby battery drain, shouldn't be much higher than 4mA, up to 7mA could be normal, any higher than that, especially if significant, and you've got something wrong, and found the cause to the short battery life.
First off, buy a couple of cheap oem batteries from here...
Now, these eBay batteries have performed slightly better than the original battery...
Some of us smartphone users are so used to poor battery life we have power charging cradles at home work and car just to keep the charge up... And have spare batteries every in case of emergency...
I take my phone off the charger at 6am to go to work... My avg day is 6-10 calls, 20 reminders, an hour of UNO, an hour as a wifi router and I return home at 5pm with 50-60% battery life...
they are trying to make batteries smaller and thinner so they can make the phones thinner and smaller so battery life is compromised. But you do need to give it some time to settle in.
Back up batteries and cradles to charge them are cheap and an easy solution. So are extra chargers to keep at work, in the car, etc. Most people can charge their phone at least an hour during the day and that should give you all you need.
The only smartphone that I didn't carry an extra battery for was the moto q9c, because it came with an extended life battery. But on these phones, that probably isn't the best option.
So what did you guys do to improve the battery life of your HD2? Are there any specific programs (I heared about G-Profile) you are not supposed to use or did you guys just deinstall all the T-Mobile Apps?
If I can just get 1 day of actual use out of it I am OK with that. I just dont want to have die every second or third day if I use more often than normal...
Any suggestions or may tests I could do? I feel like I could stream music on Slacker for about 90 Minutes and the battery would be dead...
EDIT: Just did Battlog for about 15 Minutes, my phone uses between 15ma and 31ma when in standby. So where do I start, how do I find the culprit?
I love huge screen HTC devices and Im a power user, so my solutions for power issues are:
Callpod Fueltank Duo
http://palmtops.about.com/od/accessoriesperipherials/fr/Callpod-Fueltank-Duo-Review.htm
Mugen Extended-size High-capacity 2600mAh Battery for HTC HD2
http://www.mugenpowerbatteries.com/
There is a 15% discount right now, better hurry.
Extra chargers and thats it! Now I browse, calls, emails, music, videos, TV stream (Slingplayer) and maximize all of the other features of my HD2 t9193.
Software and the end-user are the cause behind battery drain. I've got 2.5days out of moderate use so I don't think it's the hardware at all.
Methods for testing battery consumption and proof it is typically software related
Hi,
At the risk of looking like I'm trying to hijack this thread, I started a discussion on this particular subject a while ago as feedback on my finding after reading almost all the threads I could find regarding battery use on the HD2. Lude219 is 100% correct, the issue is always software related (yea, I know there might be exceptions to the rule) and my phone was a prime example of that.
See the thread below that explains how to measure your battery consumption, has logs and screen shots from users you have high consumption and also people who have systems where battery life is more than 48 hours so that you can compare your results.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=718173
Regards
I'm also sure it's software related. My phone would use app. 2% overnight with all connections closed. This i tested over months. Then suddenly without me changing anything drastic software wise, it pulled 5% per 3-4 hours. So after going thru all the cleaning routines nothing helped exept a good "ram cleaning" . Somehow or other the phone starts processes over time wich consume alot of power. One would have to look into it with a process manager to find out what exactly it is. WinMo seems to be quite sofisticated looking at all the running processes. So my view is , keeping the system tidy might be the only way to save the extra power. This is where the huge diffrence to other platforms seems to be, it can take quite a while until you have configured your phone the way you need it. I am useing the stock rom 1.66 German
thanks you guys for participating and sharing your thoughts.
But now, here is a thinker:
Last night, I let my battery drain all the way to zero and then recharged it at night. The only other thing I did was installing BSBTweaks and Touch X Taskmanager. I also changed my Bandswitch Settings to turn off data when not used and put it at 60 sec (instead of 500 sec before).
And I couldnt believe what I was seeing, I took my phone off the charger this morning around 8.30am and now at 7pm I am still at 84%!!! I did not use the phone heavily but sent and received a few texts, made 1 call and played around with it for a little bit. Similiarly to what I did in the beginning after I got the phone, but then the battery had almost died at 7pm!
I am super happy and hope it stays like that but cannot explain why all the sudden it is that different...
Hi everyone,
This is a very usefull thread, for me it is, thanks to everybody that answered.
regrding the last post, a noobish quesition is
”Bandswitch Settings to turn off data when not used and put it at 60 sec (instead of 500 sec before): how do i do this?”
I remember stumbling upon this setting the day i got the phone and started viciously going through it.
Somehow it didnt store in my memory the path i went that day so i can try doing what the man sugested.
So if anyone can lay a hand, much obliged.
Regards
i lost 12 pct over night in 9 hours with my radio turned off last night and only gmail and texts were open...
with battlog how do i do the test so it stays in standby? it keeps turning the screen on and off when i run benchmark
You may want to flash a new radio. Try a new one each day and measure battery life. I use radio 2.12.50 and have had a good experience.
yeah but with my radio turned off the radio shouldnt affect it shoudl it?
i use blackberry to stream pandora radio thru aux for about 8 hours a day and it still has 2 bars left after that.
HD2 just sits there and kills the battery lol
what kind of phone is that when you have to disable all its functions every time you dont use it?
seriously this is called unfinished product or poor design, that is beeing sold to customers as a next best thing.
you guys can argue with me all you want. i heard many excuses from users advocating the companies. such as. if you dont like this than pay more for a better product. well HD2 is a better product, its a 500 dollar phone damn it.
but you dont realize that even the "better" products suffer from same underdevelopment syndrome.
companies spend millions on consumer research and consumers spend millions on **** they dont need every year. cows eat grass, consumers eat garbage made by big companies.
where are the better products? they dont exist because it became "normal" to have a faulty OS or for your phone buttons to fall off, or battery to explode.
companies worked long and hard to make consumers get used to the idea that garbage is just a part of life, and worked long and hard to minimize costs of production, and cut corners.
which corners?
the final QA testing that is not beeing done by a company, so they can release the phone 3 months earlier, the consumers pay for the phone and test it.
we work for the company and we pay for it instead of getting paid.
the phone breaks oh how sad ,
company takes note(dont use this cheap glue or the buttons fall off, get a lil more expensive glue next year)
so they use better glue and cut another corner and we buy another "new and improved phone" and this time screen goes dim oh dang not again...and it continues.
do you disconnect your car battery every night so it doesnt die? or when you buy a lexus do you drive with your AC off because it cant pull the car around when ac is on same time as the stereo?
Hi guys, a simple Q&A here I hope!
I've had my device now for several months and find the battery life is abysmal, whilst there could be several issues like ROM, background apps etc I can't for the life of me seem to get more than 9 hours out of it. All I use it for in the day is music whilst at work and that's with sense disabled and the radio turned off also. From this I've just ordered the extended battery, but here is the question to see if I've made a noob error or not;
When I got the device I didn't do the 24 hour charge cycle, was too impatient about wanting to play with it, so is that the root of all my problems? I was under the impression that these newish batteries would only take a few hours and your away?
Any help/ lulz about me forking out £40 is greatly appreciated as always!
Thanks!

The 24 hour cycle isn't needed. I didn't do it and get a good couple of days out of it with moderate use.
Playing music on it will drain the battery pretty quick, as speakers/headphones aren't the most efficient form of activity to use a battery with. Official audio playback is 12 hours max, and that'll be quite a low volume with standard headphones.
Sorry to say, but it might be best to hard reset, and then try installing each program/tweak one at a time, and testing the battery life in between.
The battery issues we seem to find on here are usually caused by a dodgy program / installation / process running in the background.
I was thinking that, looking at task manager I seem to have a constant 43%-53% variable on the program memory, that's on the latest energy rom after a few hard resets, not really got anything installed either as I've simply linked shortcuts from the sd card rather than reinstalling after every rom change/hard reset, backlight is always set to 30% yet in the time it's took me to type this I've already dropped 3%!
With the new Li-ion batterys I really don't think there is an optimal way to condition the cells before 'normal' use. Some people absolutely swear blind by it, but after owning 4-5 HTC devices I've always found the WM OS to be a bit of a dog where keeping charge is concerned, and after a few trys on various phones I don't bother with charge discharge cycles anymore.
And as for the extended battery, I would definitely suggest getting a cheapy from eBay, you can pick them up for a fiver and they just as good at the HTC stock ones. Save yourself a few quid and keep your phone streamline.
I'm thinking my best bet is to reset the lot, hard reset phone and wipe sd, could be something on there maybe? Might just do the trick if I run the phone 'stock' and install only must haves if I need them, if same problem occurs, defective battery maybe?
Worth a shot I guess before spending more money, cheers for the feedback guys.
just a quick update, thought I'd try a hard reset, clean sd card, used myphone to restore contacts, 3g connected, standby for the past 70 minutes bar quick look on BBC sport mobile, already dropped 17%!!!!!
Hi i'm having problem with my device here. If i turn it off (i mean completely!! not deep sleep but turning off) after night (like 8hours) when i turn it on it is lost like 15% of battery!!! My phone with android loses only 1% per night when being in deep sleep and this player 15% when it's turned off!! What may be the problem? Is android gets wrong data or it's battery ****? But it charges long so maybe battery is not bad. Bad batteries in most cases charges very quick and discharges quick.
I'm using newest stock rom.
Kinda sounds like your battery is whack.
I had an old ipod that did a similar thing, until it totally died - It would take hours to charge and report full, but then it would die 5 minutes later, regardless of time on or off.
If it's a newer unit, I would look into an RMA, you might get a brand new unit for just waiting a couple weeks, or at the very least, a used working one.
If it is not covered by any warranty, I say good luck, there aren't many sources to get Archos parts for replacement, you may be better off getting a new one, or waiting for the G9 series to drop.
Good way to find out whats really going on is to charge the battery full, then run a video loop to see how long it takes to fully discharge - according to the Archos website, you should get roundabouts 5-6 hours of playback.
Start there, then adjust the plan accordingly

i have the same problem.
When i go to sleep my battery has %100 , and when i wake up after 5-6 hours,it just has 50-60% without doing anything.
Hello Group,
At what battery drainage amount to you connect your LGV30 to a charger?? I got mine last weekend and to me the charge is decent but not great for being new at least to what I have been used to.
I use the charge cable that came in the LGV30 box and I also use my daughters wireless charger that she got for her Samsung Galaxy 8 since she doesn't use it and they both work great.
I generally charge it when it gets around 50-60% I dont know why but I cant stand my phone to ever get low even though certainly it will at times
Thanks, Jake

Are you talking about the speed of charge? For me the battery is so good I don't even look at it. At the end of the day, I put it on my slow wireless charger, and take it off in the morning when I go to work. Can't remember the last time I used the wired charger that came with the phone, but I thought it was super fast.
I normally plug in around 3%. Even though I know that's a bit low.
Here's todays battery usage.
I've been leaving high accuracy GPS on which is why my battery drains so quickly...
But I used my phone to stream music all night at work with GPM.

Hey Group,
Good news, well I took my phone back to AT&T (they suck) and trying to explain that there is something wrong with the battery on a 1 week old new phone with one of the mindless helpers there is like trying to pick the correct 6 numbers on a lottery ticket.
I could tell pretty much as soon I I had brought it home (the bad one) but I decide to wait a week and give it time to see it get better even did the Oreo update. So anyway the young lady tells me that its me and I must have to many apps working in the background, I tell her, thanks but I dont have anymore then I always run and I basically use it for social media and some web surfing and I rarely do any games on it as I am a hard core computer gamer.
She again tells me that OH! you must have to many apps running in the background, I'm like (sigh) so I explained what I had just typed and so we go back and forth and she did not stop telling me about the apps in the background. I was going to get the Galaxy s9+ because I didnt want to deal with these jokers anymore but I decided to stick with my LGV30.
So now she tells me that the manager says I can just swap it out for another one if it passes their battery diagnostic test first, I said WHAT? so again I tell her from last night until this morning (about 5 hrs) when not being used it dropped almost 30% charge.
and of course it failed their "State of the Art" diagnostic test so I had to fork over another $45.oo to complete the deal but these phone is doing great.....theres more but this is the short version! btw, ATT&T is the DEVIL

Actually it's Verizon, but postpaid AT&T is close second.
I try to never fully charge or discharge. High of 80-90% ... low of 20% or so ....
Best battery life I've had so far on a phone.
