Is it safe to remove SNS and all of its services? Will it affect the weather clock (I assume so)?
One would think so. After removing all of the crap-ware I assumed was safe, I was noticing occasional force closing of system processes, and re-instated certain things like the SNS files, after which the FC issues went away.
I guess the question would be what is the harm in leaving them?

Has anyone had success removing Facebook completly? I've removed many other system apps without problem but even after removing htc.facebook.apk and htc.facebook.odex from System and facebook.katana.apk (not exact name, it was something like that) from Data I've still got the FB icon in the app drawer. When I click it says "the linked program is no longer installed" but still remains.
Of course I can't try a reboot with no perma root. It seems weird that just FB would have that problem. All my other removed app icons are gone completly. It sounds like a minor thing but it really irks me! It's my phone and I want it to be how I want it.
why would you remove such a integral portion of our generation.

Just uninstall it with titanium backup
Edit: Moved to themes and apps
Turns out it had been correctly uninstalled but Sense still had it cached or something. Force stopped Sense and when it restarted FB was gone
I'm getting constant FC's from important apps because I don't know whats safe to keep or remove. It would be nice if someone compiled a list of bloatware that can be removed without the phone going haywire.
What improvements can I see if I freeze an app?
My Galaxy Ace runs on Android 2.3.6, upgraded firmware thru Kies.
Phone is rooted. Installed AntTek App Manager. Froze 'Samsung Apps'.
No visible differences as far as I can tell, except that it cannot be used. Internal memory remains the same, as expected, since it's only freeze, not uninstall.
So what's the fuzz all about? Should my phone be a bit faster now?
Can I just delete Samsung Apps using AntTek? Would it cause phone to be unstable?
freezing apps will only make them not to autostart everytime...
when i bought ace it was like hell of apps start without even triggering them and i don't need them..
so freezing would only stop them.. if you want free space in internal then remove them..but only if you know what are you removing
as even if you tell root to format phone it will do it without thinking for 1sec
Freezing apps is only for those who think that their phones are slowing down due to a certain application. You must be good enough to guess which application or you might screw your phone up. Best to leave your phone alone and let the experts do freezing of apps in their phones. Please DO NOT TRY THIS IF YOU ARE NOT SURE!!!!!! Freezing certain apps can cause the system to fail leading to permanent motherboard damage. The decision if up to you, end of the day.
Delete it is better...like what i do, no need to have those wakelock app...

I have this phone and planning to freeze bloatware to begin with. Problem I'm getting is I don't really know which ones to freeze and which ones I shouldn't
I have TitaniumBackup. It doesn't highlight any of the 'critical' system apps which could rekh the phone. Only one I know I shouldn't disable is the "TouchWiz". There are bunch of 'applications' names in the 'system apps'. some are listed without an icon and just like "com.xxxxxx.xxxx". I don't know if these are safe to disable or not.
Anyone know an app which highlights the critical ones? I don't want to disable like the GSM or Display of the phone via Titanium Backup
Will be following this thread to remove data from.

I'm on stock ROM because I value high battery life and camera performance over gaming performance etc.

Be careful what you disable as most apps on tw devices are reliant on each other.
I disabled a load of them and nearly borked my phone. After a while it got slower and slower.
Hangouts and chaton plug into the system messager, they can be disabled. Apps that plug in to system apps can be disabled safely without fear of killing it just dont disable actual system stuff. Eg Disabling google play services will save you battery but will cause issues with apps and games. You will be disabling very little on tw devices!.
As for camera. The stock app is sh** so use a 3rd party app. Dont disable the stock camera app as system needs it for diagnostics should you ever need to test your device using the factory test app (mmi code).
Basically, go slowly starting with apps that you never use. Disable instead of delete as if you have issues you can restore easily.
Sent from a stolen phone!
Hi, i read about the data collection app MLT (LBD) and delete it, now i notice a higher Battery Drain.
I think the System try to restart the App but there is not existing now. And that cause a wakelook in the background.
My question someone delete the app and has disabled the autostart through editing some config in system?
Did you try to freeze it instead?
EDIT: Freezing it made the LDB has stopped working to constantly popup but after restarting I saw reduced battery drain. feels strange hitting the 8 hour screen on time mark. YMMV
I used Titanium Backup.(I also froze mlt.overlay)
You can just go to *#546368*# your model# then go to svc menu/LDB then disable it?
I restore and freeze it.
I feel me Vetter when such apps are deleted.

The first option if to delete
Sometimes the second best approach is to actually edit the app to delete the actual code that you hate and make it return useless values(not bad, there's a difference) to what ever calls for the mlt package.
The third is to freeze it. Keeps it intact but I do also hate it existing in my files.
Looks like the third option is the most practical. Especially for system components or Android in general.
