I have searched everywhere and I am sure this is something so simple but I can woirk this out. I am running the Energy rom and have android froyo 2.2 desire working perfectly but I really want to dual boot it. I have downloaded Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.0.6.0-CAB but I van't get it working? I have copied the folder to the phone memory and it failed, so then deleted that and copied all the files inside original file and pasted that but failed and did the same with my memory card? Please could someone help me out.

I'm in the process of reverting my Hermes back to a T-Mobile UK ROM for Windows Mobile 5 using My Vanx guide but I can't exrtract the entended ROM from the ROM I have. Can anyone help me out?
I have a rar file of the contents of the t-mobile uk ext rom, if thats what you need?
Yes please, that would be great. Is that what I need to revert back to WM 5?
Well, ideally I think you can just overwrite the ext rom contents then do the rom downgrade, then hard reset and the ext rom contents will install.
I havent done it myself though.
Here's the zip, rar's not allowed apparently.
Thanks, I'll give it a try this afternoon and let you know how it goes.
That would be appreciated, just in case I have a warranty issue......
I'm trying to get it back due to a warranty issue (white appears as yellow).
Anyway, the extended ROM downloaded okay, however it didn't contain the Herm_extendedRom.nb as stated here. I've got the PrimarySplash.nb, SecondarySplash.ng and Windows.nb files from decompiling the NBH file, and now I'm stuck in a dead end.
Oh. you're doing that, I dont have the nbh file im afraid, what I was doing was leaving the extended rom alone when flashing rom updates so the original contents will work.
The main reason I didnt bother deleting the original ext rom is that the files dont actually run under wm6 and I dont really have any use for the ext rom.
Theoretically if you replace the contents of the ext rom with the contents of the zip then do the downgrade stuff wthout selecting the ext rom nbh file it might work. since I seem to recall that the ext rom contents were run by a prompter file in the windows directory from the original t-mobile OS rom after you first hard reset.
Might be worth seeing if anyone can clarify this though, as I said, I havent downgraded as yet.
Sounds like it might work, or just trying to flash without the Extended ROM, and then running the cab files seperately afterwards, but I'd like to seek clarification before doing so.
Hey guys, would greatly appreciate the help with installing swype.
My first concern is what i've been seeing with users being locked out of their phone due to incorrect passwords after installing swype. Does anyone have the cab for a version of swype that DEFinitely does not do this?
And onto my biggest problem:
When i copy the cab onto my external memory and run the "_SETUP" file on my STOCK FILE EXPLORER it just opens the file as if it was a link on a website.
Do i need to download a new file explorer? or can i just use the one that came with the phone.
I cant seem to find a Do it yourself tutorial anywhere online please help!!
I have a hd2 from hong kong.
basically, stay away from swype 3.9 from the tmous. it checks your model and if it isn't a tmous it messes with the password.
as to the _setup issue, it sounds like you have unpacked the .cab
the pc will see a cab and think it is a type of zip, with (usually) 4 files inside, and try to unpack it if you double click it. instead, you should move the whole filename.cab as a single file to the phone and run it from there.
hey samsamuel. thanks for your help
i'm at work right now but will try this when i'm home. just a qick question, do you have any suggestions as to which version of swype i should downlioad?
i know there are many versions out there and am curious as to what a veteran like yourself chose,
many thanks
i use v2.i'll post it when i get home.
I remember that the first realase of free x10 is dual start
i think it`s very useful
i know make this will make xrecovery unable to use
but i have to use camcoder sometimes
and i really like the android 2.3
can i have them both?
i have tried make a xrecovery backup of 2.3 and
flash tool to stock 2.1
then install the first freex10 edition
restart and anything goes fine(the first2.2 canbe used)
andthen i reboot to the stock 2.1 rom
put the .img files into freex10 floder(which is used to include the first realase of freex10,the dual start edition)
restart
but it doesn`t work ...
whocan helpme ...
forgive my bad english ...
i am looking forward to you help especially the help form the developers like j and z...

THanks
but i still want a dual start edition...
i will try my best wo deal with it
can anyone tell me how to transfer the .img file from xrecovery backup to the .img file like the first freex10 realase ?
as for data.img
the backup file for data.img is about 200Mb or so
but the first freex10 realase`s data.img file is about 512Mb...That means it has some empty space for new files...
can anyone help me ?
as for xrecovery
i think we can easily make a swicher to swich from dual start 2.1 to xrecovery or swich back
what i mean is the 2.3 is in the phone and the stock 2.1 is in the sd card as for a second system to be used
i was trying to make a dual boot option viable by tr to run freex10-beta4 off the sdcard (spent a full day on it) but couldnt get it working... had mixed the files of freex10-alpha (which was sdcard/dual boot version) and freex10-beta4 but the system always keeps hanging at SE text logo... tried contacting Z but he has been inactive for a while now (1month)... also contacted J but he suggested that the ramdisk was the problem and i dont have the expertise to create my own ramdisk ...
so sorry mate cant help u out there...
ramdisk?
how to make it suitable with beta 4 ...or even better with stock 2.1?
i presume that u want to use 2.1 for its camera... so if u want to use it for video/hd recording then running (2.1) from sdcard wont be a good idea.... rather let it run from the NAND and try n put beta4 on sdcard...
there are a LOT of things involved to even get upto the stage of booting... like creating xrecovery images (yaffs FS)... converting them to fit in ext2fs img files of data (512mb)/system (256mb)/cache (128mb)... verifying file permissions within the images... once thts done modifying the boot-hijack script 'chargemon' to mount these files... then comes the part of ramdisk modification which i have no clue on how to do it... may be someone can help out???
But. How. To .. converting them to fit in ext2fs img files of data (512mb)/system (256mb)/cache (128mb)... verifying file permissions within the images.
The. Biggest problem is the ram disk isn't it ?

converting the yaffs images (xrecovery/nandroid backups) to fit in ext2fs images is the simple part... for windows: there is a tool called unyaffs which will help u extract content from these images and then use info from here to create the data/system/cache images... and then mount them using a disk mounting tool (i have used Gizmo central).... for linux it even simpler as one can just perform loop mounting... and then paste the contents from xtracted xrecovery images into them...
and yes ramdisk is the biggest problem as of now...
I am wondering what is included in the ram disk, and how it influence the boot process of the rom.I think if you know some. about this ,we may make it .
ramdisk.tar
it has the following files:
default.prop
init
init.rc
init.es209ra.rc
init.goldfish.rc
i think the init*.rc files are the ones which need to be modified for this to work... but as i said before i dont have the expertise in modifying these files...
i dont have the expertise either ...I think we can make it ...
What is used to modify these things ?I even have on idea about how to pack up them into ramdisk.tar...forgive me ...
I am using windows and if is needed I can install ubuntu or any system except mac os...
And do you have google talk account ?my google account is. [email protected]
Do you have any other talk tools ... like MSN or even better a QQ number?
Gtalk is limited in china... ****!

I think the foreign friends see my reply will be puzzled, but it doesn't matter..

Hello,
I'm trying to install Bell's gingerbread update for my Atrix but it appears I'm missing the / preinstall / app / "Gameloft_3games.zip" file. I have the bell system dump downloaded that contains all the apps and other random stuff but I cant seem to find the gameloft_3games.zip file. Can someone help me out here?? Maybe share their file with me or maybe tell me what the zip contains so I can try and build a new one?
Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue, I've tried OTA and offline install, also tried modding the update zip to remove the gameloft_3games.zip, but the file is signed and the verify fails...
apk files
I tried creating a zip file and inside of it, I put the apks of the 3 demo gameloft games that came stock with the phone. It didn't work, So I tried making another zip and I dumped every single file in it from the / app folder renaming it to gameloft_3games.zip and that never worked either. So theirs obviously some other kind of files in there that we need...
exact same problem someone please help!
edit: you guys found a solution yet? i've been told on other forums that i think it is the rooting method we used that removed that gameloft file.. i think apparently ATT phones don't need that file or something..so i'm trying to figure out how to get that file back now..
If you do some searching for gameloft_3dgames.zip you'll find a zip of the stock 2.2.2 files available for download. I was able to push the gameloft_3dgames.zip to /data/local/tmp/, remount /preinstall/ read/write, copy it in there, set permissions to 644, remount read-only, reboot, and then apply the update successfully.
Good luck!
Here's the post with further instructions and a link to the files:

Evening Everyone,
I am attempting to roll my own android version from this base and following instructions from this guide. I did the instructions from the base and installed the stock version just fine. I run linux at home and I didn't need to unpack the system.img.ext4 file, just mounted it and was able to edit. There wasn't a system/apps folder in the image, but there was app/ and it looked like that was where the core apks were stored.
I removed samsung junk, unmounted the image, zipped it back up with all the other files that came with the original zip from the link. When I go to install (TWRP) I get the error:: could not find 'meta-inf/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file :: but when I open the zip file it is definitely there. Is there a config file I need to edit also?
Trying to remove the bloatware on my own and will add my own prefered apps once I can get this down. I haven't decided if I want to also remove the google apps and only install a very light weight version. Eventually I might try rom editing, but not sure how deep I want to go down the rabbit hole. Trying to install Marshmallow on sprint galaxy s5. TWRP version is 3.0.2-1
Any help to get me started is greatly appreciated!!

Nevermind. I am an idiot and the whole structure was one layer too deep. Zip->folder->files instead of Zip->files.
