[Q] AMOLED screen of galaxy s for xperia

Is it possible to put the AMOLED screen of galxy s onto xperia x10 as both have the same screen size?
No because the G S screen is wider than the x 10

THen how come both the screen sizes are 4 inch?
4 inches long. Has nothing to do with width

Screens are measured corner to corner. Even if they have the same screen size (4"), unless the aspect ratio is the same the actual length and width are different.

Then which amoled screen suits the x10? wat about nokia e7?
I never got these kinds of ideas... It would be more trouble than it would be worth. Also, you would have to change more than just the screen. Drivers, kernel tweaks, etc.... would all be necessary for you to actually take advantage of it

+1
I'm thinking bootloader access may even be necessary...

@fiscidtox ,, You are right
Why u wana do that?
Lol yeah they really aren't the same size, plus it would take too much work. Would be pretty awesome though.

Change the screen tint?

I am wondering if there is a way to remove the blueish tint that the screen has. The Nexus S 4g had an issue with screen tint and someone devised a tool (voodoo) to alter the gamma, but I think the tool was tied into that particular kernel.
Thanks.

So I guess no one knows then?

Source was just released so assuming devs are playing around with it id expect to see kernels soon. Once a kernel is cooked up i would imagine one awesome soul would attempt to make a "voodoo" like tool that plays well with pentile displays....

Galaxy S3 issues?

I'm thinking of getting the S3 again for the rom/root. I dont want to unlocked my HTC One X with HTCDev because I do not wish to void warranty . So I was wondering are there any issues that I should look out for when getting a SGS3? I read the general section and I didnt see any.

Well most of the physical issues include some black spots/marks on the screen when switched off(apparently prevalent in all a amoled screens, slight heating at the bottom and physical faults with the body. Can't remember some of the others. Quite frankly I haven't encountered any problems with mine. The phone is a bit fragile though so handle with care. Best thing is to examine the phone properly for factory faults when buying it

Are they visible on low brightness? Or do you need to be on a pitch black screen in a very dark room.

Some have reported it on both low brightness and when the screen is off but I don't have it as far as I can see. Running a CM10 preview right now and loving it =D

When the screen is turned off that doesnt sound good, any pictures? & thats one of the main reasons I want the SGS3 all the roms and such . The one x has roms but I dont want to void my warranty.

Nah it doesn't seem to be as visible as you think. Like I said best thing is to thoroughly examine the phone before buying. I didn't examine it when I bought but I ended up with a good set =p

Well before the one x and galaxy nexus I used to just buy a phone without thinking. Now I'm constantly looking for defects in phones :/
Well you just need to look for factory faults with the s3. The only real problems are software related which can or will eventually be fixed

I shall have a look if I decide on getting one bit unsure at the moment.

It's not as bad as it looks. The phone has amazing specs and most importantly awesome developers =D

I had one before but I disliked touchwiz and kinda the screen mainly touchwiz.

You are going to void your warranty with Samsung if you root and rom.
My S3 has been amazing. No issues here.

Touchwood no issues either. Loose volume rocker is not so great but you dont notice it inside a cover.

I know im voiding my warranty with samsung but I can easily make it look like I never touched the phone you cant with HTCDev.
Any banding on white/grey images? Like the galaxy nexus. This is generally on low brightness.
While I love my S3, I still think the screen sucks VS one X or iPhone 4s. Pentile is pentile I guess, because in the text it is very noticeable.
That being said, it is still the phone I'd choose at the moment. I don't trust the One X hardware quality long term.
Is the black dots that are on the screen the same thing as on the Galaxy Note known as "Black Crush"??
No I think black crush is something to do with the display being dark in videos. I'm not sure.

Any Problems With The Desire X?

Hey guys I'm about to root my Desire X thus voiding my warranty I just wanna know if there are any problems with the phone's hardware? =)
thanks!
Nope, not at all.

After 4 Weeks the Problems started...
...first of all, iam coming from the HTC Desire handset. A solid, powerfull, less memory brave smartphone at least for 2 years.
Switched to Desire X because of the lack of memory on my Desire, although root and sd-ext.
I was very impressed of this low budget device, it did a precious impression onto me, but now i know why HTC is losing marketshare and the earnings decreases.
The device itself, even without the backside attached creaks on the upper left and right corner - ok i would life with that, but there are constant reboots and state an error report, while my device is on standby and stored in my pocket - maybe there is too much pressure applied while i tie up my shoes, but my old desire took it without any problems.
The main problem is the screen, i got an array of faulty pixels - so iam heading to my retailer to get this device repaired and then sold.
Nexus 4 iam coming, although i loved the handy size....
Attached pictures of the upper left corner taken with a One S through a magnifying glass...
no problem
I also have a Desire S, now my wife is using it.
Until now I don't have any problem, it's smoother and I think it eats less battery than Desire S (both stock ROM).
Waiting for full Sense that i miss from Desire S :crying:
Unfortunately I recognized one problem.
After every shutdown and restart of the phone I miss some apps on the screen or in my favourite folder.
Like most of my other apps I transferred them with Titanium Backup from my old phone (Desire).
I cannot see, why these few apps (Financial Times App, Paradise Island, Blast Monkeys, Bad Piggies) behave like this and the others not. Maybe it is associated with root, maybe not...
Yep, have the same problem, it's because those apps are installed on the SD-card, and the phone doesn't link them to the screen when booting.

That means theres no way to change that behaviour (without another rom)?
Not that i know, sorry

Why should another launcher solve the problem?
The apps will stay on the SD-card, why should the behaviour change?
The only problem is the small number of developers writing ROMs. :silly:

Because they use other methods for the shortcuts. Just try it and give us feedback. I don't have the problem on my desire x so it's up to you.
i have this phone for a 2 weeks now, and still not have any problems, except one random reboot..i dont know why, hope that will not repeat
No problems so far. Works like a charm.
Im comming from Desire (bravo), and Desire Hd.
I can say Dx is awsome budget phone, never had any prob. Running smooth.

The only problem is horrible hiss noise on headphones and speaker. But that is unrepairable.
phones got bad bad speekers... wanna kill htc for it... rest is superbbb

Questions about Amoled displays

I always heard that Amoled displays have perfect blacks with no grey color, but when I use my phone in the dark the blacks still posses a soft grey tint with them. Why does that happen?
For pure black, the pixels are off. You're either not looking at pure black or what you're seeing is the colour and reflection of the screen
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
In theory , Yes, as RootSU mentioned, but the problem is there is something called "screen mode " or Color calibration, for easier understanding.
If you ever used Galaxy Nexus, then you know there is color calibration for the Super Amoled screen, but the problem is, it is very very very HARD to configure the pure black.
As far as I know, galaxy S3 doesn't have color calibration as I mentioned in Galaxy Nexus expect Perseus kernel but I don't think there is any one who is "boring " to do such configuration to display pure black as it may be useless through it could be interesting...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
As you can read in screen tests, the GS3 has almost perfect blacks with a value of somewhere around 0,0010. So that's why you're noticing a greyish tint.

Thanks everyone

Also I forgot to tell you when I compared the amoled display to an LCD (iphone 5) I noticed at high brightness the s3 easily beats it up, but at low brightness the s3 display gets close to that of the iphone's or a bit worse (I'm not so sure about this I'm not too good when it comes to display tech).
